Not to mention insanely lucky^^. I allmost lost the thing when I was batteling it...dident have the Mball, so I had to battle it the hard way. Though I did get that thing in the end!

Actually yeah. In Sapphire I caught a Shiney Nincada, and wasn't even looking though. First Shiney I have ever gotten beside the Red Gyarados in G/S

Yes, it is a very low chance to get one.. like 2.5% or something.. unless you use a Gameshark or some other cheat device.. though I don't do that.. I would rather do it legit, more satisfaction.

Not sure of the exact percent but it is everytime you encounter a Pokemon, no matter how you encounter them. (not sure on Eevee and Lapras since you get them from Pokeballs but I am thinking they are still able to become Shiny when you pick them up. Someone want to confirm this?)

At least you don't have to restart the game like I did to get Snorlax.. you just have to walk around a lot which means you can use the VS Seeker on those Channelers and gain a bit of levels while looking for a Shiny Gastly :P

I have a shiny Linoone (trained from a Zigzagoon). My brother is lucky, he hatched a shiny Togepi from his egg in Crystal I think it was.

I thought the shiny ratio was a LOT less than 2.5%? like 1/8000-something...

but I've heard a lot of conflicting reports about what the actual ratio is... >< from 1/600 to 1/600,000... O_O I just want to know what the odds are! does anyone know?

Well I got only one Shiny on LG, Rattata! XD I got it in the first half hour of gameplay! I also have a Shiny Gyarados, Zubat and Miltank on Gold though.

And i'm soooo unlucky.. when I wander around in the grass looking for pokémon I don't already have I always get common ones I already have!! The rare or uncommon ones never show up for me!! No fair! I guess I still have to keep searching!

The VS Seeker is an item you get after defeating your rival in Cerulean City just before you go onto Nugget Bridge. It takes 100 steps to recharge its batteries and you can use it to rechallenge trainers and gain lots of exp and money.

it took me around 45 minutes to an hour, i got very lucky. after a while of getting annoyed with walking around i decided to just stand in place and use sweet scent. it worked pretty well. i just killed whatever came up and it gave me a way to train my ponyta to a rapidash.

no, it's still a matter of odds. they just mean that the odds are so great that theoretically it will take you a very long time before you find one (like I think it's 1/8164 or something, think how long you would expect to search before finding something under those conditions x_x). besides, then how would you explain the cases where people find one within their first hour?

Yes, in LG/FR *LG firzt cauze it iz better tee hee* When the pokemon appear, a little ztar goez zipping acrozz, about in the center it doez a loop, you hear a weird zound effect, then a 'ding' i'm pretty zure, maybe not the ding. but oh well. Pluz they have color difference (Some are eazier to tell then otherz, hard = tangela, eazy = spearow) Zo..if you have zuzpicionz....CATCH IT!

Yes, if your shiny evolves, it will stay shiny.
Trading pokemon does not cause them to become shiny.. but in breeding pokemon the baby has a chance of being shiny.

W00000T!! I just caught a shiny Drowzee about 1/2 an hour ago! I named him Apocalypse, I love him soooooooooooo much!! It's gonna take a while before Apocalypse is caught up to Serenity and Orville though, they are at level 33 while Apocalypse is only at level 15 at the moment. ^^
The sad thing is, whenever I am not looking for a shiny, they seem to pop up all over the place. And when I want to look for one, I never see any! XD

I haven't been able to find one in FR, but the odds were for me in Sapphire, in a sad ironic sort of way.

I came across six shinies total, 2 of which were Zubat and the other 2 Wingull. I don't even like shiny Zubat's color, and of all the Pokemon I had to encounter 2 of them? Wingull wasn't any more spectacular, either.

The other one is a Makuhita, and the last was a Koffing, but I evolved it.

Any where really. The odds of finding a shiny in one place is the same as anywhere else as far as I know.

In GSC you had a greater chance of getting a shiny if you bred a shiny. In Ru/Sa/Fr/Lg, you have equal chance no matter what you do.

Actualy, you can see shinys for 100% sure in the Trainer Tower (Lg/Fr). I think there a Shiny Espeon and Seaking somewhrere in there:).

FireRed Deoxys, it's true that you have to defeat the Elite Four to reach the Sevii Islands, but you also have to get the Nationl Dex from Prof. Oak by talking to him once you have 60+ recorded Pokemon. If you don't have the National Dex, you can only reach One, Two, and Three Island, none of which contain the Trainer's Tower.

Read the FRLG FAQ or read the Sevii Islands Guide on my site for more information on that stuff.
