Listen up.

A clean Red ROM is a Pokemon Red ROM that hasn't been altered at all from it's original cartridge form.

You Google "Pokemon Red ROM".

You either rename the sav file the same name as the new Pokemon Brown ROM, or rename your Pokemon Brown ROM the same name as your sav file.

Go to the room where you got the legendary bird and the S.S. Ticket. Get out, and follow the pathway until the leftmost wall by the lass. Go down a tiny bit, an you will see an opening to your right halfway down. Enter, and there will be two pathways; one a dead end, the other leading to a ladder. Take the ladder to a warp room. Find your own way from there.

After exploring the cave one more time, I finally got to the final boss, although it took me a while to figure out how to make the trees disappear. xD Final boss wasn't that bad, either. =) Still my favorite hack of all time. Congrats on finishing it CBM! ;)

When I first patched v. 2.0 to red rom it turned exactly the same which datai LPed in youtube.
Now that I try to patch this to normal red rom and copy the save file from the not-working rom it's still the same.

Is there a way to make this work or do I've to start over from the beginning ?

So you do need to beat the rijon league before heading to the final quest. Rats! As I read in the first post. I did beat the original version 1.1 game but never the newer one yet. It's kinda fun getting Johto and other generations.

Yes, that's the final boss. He has those, an Ampharos and Rhyperior. It's best if you get a ground pokemon and a grass pokemon that knows sleep powder.

It was kinda easy because the A.I. worked kind of weird.lol
Rhyperior screeches a lot, so get him to sleep because once in a while he'll hit the horn drill. I beat him with my Vitribell and Charizard. (Level 39 and 88 respectively)

Those new quests kinda got me thinking for future episodes. I'm at Episode 26 where Adam faces MissingNo in the forest (before he gets the Virus Scan). I'm going to test drive this final quest on a newer .SAV file and come back with my current .SAV file I'm working on.

Luckilly, the VBALink emulator lets you play and create different .SAV files for each emulator opened. Except I hate out of sync audios.

I was going to put it in when I put the secret items in, but then I decided it would be better if it would be harder for everyone to find them, since they're supposed to provide great prizes.

EDIT: Finished the final dungeon. That was the hardest battle I was ever in. Mainly because my team was in the mid 50's. Used the Master Ball on Raikou. That is such a cool cry for him! Next question, is there more than one Metal Coat?

just copy the .sav of your actual pokemon brown to the "saves" folder of tgb dual

They are mostly uncommon, walk around for a couple minutes in the first room, you'll find it.

Why don't you make a Pokemon Brown update, to where all pokemon in the Rijon pokedex are available? I know you are doing a whole bunch games at once especially Pokemon Prism, which has a ways to go, but give it some time to think about it. I am ok with any decision you make.

Well, my and CBM were going to make a tutorial for connecting online, but it is just FAR too unstable ATM...

So, instead, if people would like to trade pokemon, I suggest using Team Viewer, it is a program that lets 2 people control one PC.
If you use TGB Dual with it, you can both control TGB dual, and trade.

People told you time and time again to just download either VBALink 1.72 or TGB Dual. Both let you trade.

Clear, I can honestly tell you that I screwed it up. Besides TGB Dual is not my emulator. Especially since it is translated from japanese.

Cardboardbox, first off, congrats. Secondly, exactly how tedious is it to get numbers 225 and 226? I know they have to be randomized, and can only be found in Brown. Is it really worth playing Brown over and over again just to get those two? Did you get lucky and get them on your second run-through?


By the way what is pie27 talking about numbers 225 and 226. Which pokemon are they? Shieldon and Bastiodon?

225 and 226 would technically be Missingno, if you catch my drift ;)

There's about 12 or so that absolutely HAVE to be traded, but I traded a bit more than that from an existing Crystal save I completed the Pokedex on a few years back.

Unfortunately I can't complete the pokedex 100%. I can't trade.

Can you tell us exactly what your problem is? Error messages? Not recognising save files? Remember, the .sav of the game you have to load as GB1 and the .sa2 of the game you have to load as GB2 MUST be in a subfolder to where TGB Dual is, named /save.

Listen genius. The only thing needed to transfer files is to just rename the damn save file. That's it. There are instructions clear as day all over this site. Stop being stupid and just follow the damn instructions, it isn't harder than a simple copy/paste

Step 1. Start a game on TGB Dual/VBA Link 172
Step 2. Save the game
Step 3. Copy/paste the name of the save file onto your original save
Step 4. Put your original Save file in the folder of the one you just copied.

THAT'S IT. You're getting on my nerves in this thread, all you're doing is asking people to do everything for you

What is Tgb anyway? Is it a emulator that allows to link games in 2 or more gameboys like the VBA Link. I wonder if it does battles properly because it's a little glitchy depending on the link timeout speeds.

but you dont have to, by renaming the .sav file, you just make it compatiblie with tgb dual, make sure you have a back up file if anything strange happens.

For the ghost you need the virus scanner.
Strength is in Euagulo city (However you spell it.)
The amulet is to trade for strength
The orbs you give to the girl in haywood mall top floor.
That's all I remember.
I forgot where I got surf and I never got Flash (Apparently, I didn't need it. :) )

Okay, If I'm right you should go below the town that was run by the rockets. (Think the city starts with an M? The Red colored city.) Cut the grass, look around and the gym should be there.

The gym doesn't have a city. It's actually on a route.

o.O I don't know if this info will ever be useful, but I've been egg-hunting and I found another BrickPiece in Castro Valley at the corner next to the Pokemart.. (There's another BrickPiece in the Power Plant, which isn't too hard to find..)

Also, interesting glitch I just discovered.. Surfing along the poolside directly south of Owsauri City seems to be quite like old-style Cinnabar surfing. i.e No wild Pokemon are programmed, so it uses those from the last area you were in. As in R/B/Y, this can be used to meet Safari Park Pokemon outside of the Park. Might make getting Kangaskhan and Tauros a little easier for you all ;)

It's not accessible. Walking through walls reveals the doorway's non functional.

You're right, the Pokedex does say Merson Cave o.O Although I really don't remember ever finding one in the wild there. Maybe it's just as rare as Sandshrew? In any case, male Nidoran are common in later parts of the game, so just wait XP The next place you can get one is Route 51. (Merson Cave -> East to Merson City -> North to the Underground Passage -> North to Hayward City -> North to Route 51)

For Lugia...Explore the Large Cave Area in the Final Dungeon...
And you will find a rocket that will give you either lugia or ho-oh...

Brickpiece isn't very useful, it's like the rare bone.
If you got Ho-oh from the rocket you have to trade Lugia from a GSC game.

Proberly because of the original Pokemon Red with the new movesets. Try trading it to Red/Blue/Yellow instead.

Tangela evolves at level 55 and then you will find out that number 209 is its evolution, Tangrowth! I need to know if Shieldon and Bastiodon are in the game. I have Cranidos and Rampardos so it seems like they might be in there due to being part of the Sinnoh fossil family. As for Mewtwo, I am fortunate to have found Mew instead, so then I don't have to worry about "glitch cheating", but it is a pain indeed to have to start multiple files on Brown for those who don't have it, next time try not to put us in a situation like that with your hacks KBM :\. Second, is Lickilicky obtainable the game? Other than that, everything is running smoothly on my Pokedex, I am really close! All I need to do now is beat a couple other Pokemon games and import some and I'm done ;)!

Wow , I can#t believe how taken away I was by the game. I played from the first to 8th bade through (with use of turbo key *whistles* but it still kept me hanging from 8 o'clock in the evening to 5 o clock in the morning O.o

Link battles using VBAlink is extremely messy. Urgh. You need to have 2 different SAV (VBA uses SA# for the number of your emulator) files with the same rom name and have 2 different VBAlink emuators. You must lower the Link Speed Timeout to 0 first before turning on. I recommend set the VBA Timeout to at least 100 while trading or link battling.

I often do link battles with 2 Brown versions but it's always messy to control.

Dang! I can see why TGBLink is better than VBAlink. I recently tried it with the Flower Four .SAV files I created for Episode 30 and battled one of them. Link battles using TGBLink is much more accurately than VBAlink and battles are 100% controlled as well as trading.

I was meant to test the link battles using the original red with VBALink to see the results. The only problem is how to change the colors to Super Gameboy with TGBLink and I need a AVI recorder program as well.

Essentially, you don't, but if you're careful to make sure you have all, CBM uses a different method than Pokedex to make sure you've got all 'owned.

There's nothing like that, but I believe there's a walkthrough in-production atm that may answer some of them. The exception is the new type chart, which can be found in the Prism thread's first post.

Starting Crystal to get Suicune and a high leveled Dratini and Swinub (they will be able to evolve).
Starting Red to get Mewtwo, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, a high leveled Tangala, and Zapdos.
Start up another Brown file to get another Dusk Stone

Is there anything I'm missing?

Not quite missing, but you can make things alot easier. There's two Dusk Stones in game. Togepi is easy to catch. Nidoqueen can be traded for Nidoqueen in the underground passage in Moraga town. There's no Shieldon/Bastiodon.

Firstly, right click the zip folder and hit extract all and confirm the extraction.
Then patch the IPS to the .gb file in the extracted folder which is now non-ZIP.

And your main problem with this would be the fact that you are trying to patch it to FireRed.
This hack was done over Pokemon Red Version, not Pokemon FireRed Version.
