Ok, I just have a quick question.
Is it true that a baby pokemon that you obtained through 2 of your own pokemon has higher stats when it evolves?

Erm...I guess it depends on luck. A baby is born with some of the IVs of it's parents so SOME stats may be higher, but only by a small amount.

It's not strictly true, but the parents IVs do come into the IVs of your baby. You might not get the IVs you want though... which is always a shame if you're battling non in-game.

IVs are Indivisual Values I know that, but how can I detect how much it is from 1-32?

It's 0-31. That's 32 possible values since zero is a value as well. It'd be hard to find out your IVs. Just google a IV/DV Calculator. There are lots of them out there.

Ah, thanks a lot DC 916, I'll check it out right away!
Oh, and I know what IVs are...but what are DVs?

DV is what IV used to be called. Same thing really (when the range was 0-15 instead of 0-31)

Oh, Ok. Cool.
I took a IV test for my Sceptile I recieved through breeding:

HP IV: 31 [31 ~ 31] 0%
Attack IV: 31 [31 ~ 31] 0%
Defence IV: 31 [31 ~ 31] 0%
Sp.Atk IV: 20 [20 ~ 21] 95%
Sp.Def IV: 30 [30 ~ 31] 97%
Speed IV: 31 [31 ~ 31] 0%
Are these good?

DV's is now the general term for describing how the Pokemon mechanics work. This includes EVs, IVs, PVs, GVs (gender values) LVs, and a couple more that we don't know about.

As for your Sceptile, what level did you test it at? If it was at Level 5, then these are incredibly inaccurate. If they are about 20 or higher, then you have quite a low Special Attack, but phenomenal everything else. Try putting attack moves on it... but ask for move help in the GB Movesets Lounge. ^_^

Thanks Mr. Cat Dog!
That really helps, yeah, my Sceptile is at level 65 I believe(I got it from my mother 100 lv. Sceptile and a Ludiculo)
EVs, IVs, PVs, GVs?
EVs is Evolution Value?
IV is Indivsioul Value, PV is...Parental Value?
and GV is Gender Value.

Wow, I didn't know there was so much more to breeding! Also, what're Effort Points? I saw them mentioned at the Calculating Site I was at.

Oh, and since I don't want to make a whole new topic, I want to ask another question:
Just recently my Ludiculo and Pelliper had a baby Wingull...but instead of Strength, Dive, Waterfall, and Hydropump, it had Watergun and Growl! What was that all about?

Read the RSE FAQ and Advanced Trainers Guide in the Movesets forum for information about EVs. IV/DVs we've told you about. GV and PVs I have no idea. Never even heard of them. But whatever....

Ah, thank you DC 916, I'll look into it.

Wingull can't learn any of this Ludicolo's moves, so it doesn't gain those moves when it hatches. Only certain moves are passed on, although some are moves it will never learn naturally, and can only be got by breeding. These are called Egg Moves. Refer to the Egg Moves sticky to see which egg moves each Pokemon has

Oh, that explains it.
Thanks Toothache, I'll look into that too!

IVs = individual values | EVs = effort values | GVs = gender values... doesn't really count for anything, but it's still there... | PVs = personality values, (like Modest or Timid or something like that). Sorry for confusing anyone... ^_^

Ah, thanks for clearing that up CD.
