Speculate away. This is the thread for your discussions (future features, what you want, etc.) to see in the new Pokémon games of the fourth generation: Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

You may continue speculations from the other thread (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=122236&page=101).

At least 20 new PokeGear Apps. No, the PokeGear should be replaced with the Poketch, and that Poketch Company should have a Johto HQ in Goldenrod City to pick up the new apps. There should also be more apps than the ones in D/P/Pt.

I want to see more to do in Kanto.
Specifically, more PokeSpe manga references besides the small few that were there.

Maybe Team Rocket will have a slightly bigger part, maybe in Kanto instead of that one grunt. (:
Because Team Rocket is fun to destroy.

Pre release screenshots galore. I noticed something interesting, how Chikorita is following Gold around. Maybe the starter Pokemon will be able to follow the hero around in it's basic stage, or all three of its stages.

Anyone else got any ideas about that?

Agree with the Kanto part. That aspect of the game has so much potential, but it was so flawed in the original.

And as for the PokeSpe references, perhaps instead of just a Red battle, you have the choice of a double battle between Red and Green?

It's already been confirmed that the starter will indeed follow you.
Pretty pumped about that.

I personally think that it is only like that for a limited time. Like i.e Chikorita followed you out the Prof. Lab, and it started following you around. Prof. Elm stops you and makes you return it to a Pokéball before you enter the tall grass.

I do...eh, going to reuse another post. Yay!

It is interesting. The way I see it there are a number of ways the can go with it.

- Every Pokemon can follow you if they lead the party. This would potentially be awesome, but would be a fair bit of work to implement, and may have some problems. Then there's the fact that walking around with legendary Pokemon would be odd as heck (if not amusing), and for Pokemon such as, say, Bellsprout, that are planted in the ground, or various fish Pokemon... yeah, I'm uncertain on this.

- GS starters will follow you in their multiple forms as well, whenever you want/have them in your party. More likely, this, I fell - can't be hard to implement another 6 moving sprites just for this. Even if they become as big as you size-wise. XD

- The only follow you for a short itme - say, until you return the egg Mr Pokemon gives you. This one here is one I like less... it would restrict them to those 1st-evolved forms though on the face of it.
Yet that is not fool-proof- one could always level up their Pokemon enough to evolve it - and then what? Hmm...that also seems iffy.

Could be any of these, but some seem more likely than others to me. We will have to wait and see though (for instance, maybe in later pics we cann see if they are still around? That may merely mean though that possible you could toggle this feature on and off).

Well the thing about that is, the Red battle is a direct reference to a section of the GSC portion of the manga. Which is why Red has Green's Charizard and Blue's Blastoise. I just want to see other PokeSpe character's make little cameos. Like Yellow and Blue.

Lord GaGa- Yes, you are totally right- that or they make a poke-gear just like the poketech- the poketech was a good thing, and so was poke-gear_ maybe they should make it a poketech and call it a poke gear?
Sublime- totaly- kanto was great in the original, but there was not that much to do
Aseril- haha, ya- actually, maybe it would kinda be fun to also have another team from another region there to (TG, TM, or TA)
Lash- ya, i think that might be a possibility- i actually hope it is- more interactivity
(ps, i bet my strongest pokemon in platinum [lvl 100 shiny typhlosion] that this thread will have 4 pages by 4:00 PM tomorrow- who else is in on that?)

I believe that there will be something similar to the Sevii Islands (perhaps the Orange Islands?) and Red's Pokemon will go up in level to compete with Pearl's. I'd also really like it if they had a few Platinum references (such as Jasmine talking about going to the lighthouse in Shinnoh) as well as Kanto's main attraction, the Safari Zone, to reopen. I really hated it when they shut it down G/S/C =-[ Another thing that would be interesting if they had the Bug-Catching Contest in Wireless or even Wi-Fi. You could play up against your friends instead of just playing the CPU players.

actually that does look right- which already suggests a deeper plot! (wow..... hold on, breaking my own fourth wall- how do i get deeper plot out of stairs? "ooooh! He Climbed The Stairs! I don't like the idea of Pokemon following you everywhere. It'll be fine at the start, but not for the whole game. Imagine how large the ROM'll be then!

Then again, if everyone loves the PokeGear so much, then the PokeGear's company should be revealed, and they should have their HQ in Goldenrod City.

I really like the idea that the starter follows you around. It adds more of a bond btween the Pokemon and the trainer, imo. Although, I would like to choose who follows me. Like say the first in the party would follow, as long as they were small to medium in size (Quilava is just so cute).

I also would like to see more manga references. There is just so much potential in the storyline to not include more. For example, the Pokedex holders could team up against team rocket in an epic battle to end them all. Now wouldn't that be something?

If the second playable character becomes your ally (Dawn and Lucas), than I would like to be able to name them. Just for fun if not for manga accuracy.

I disagree with the Poketch replacing the PokeGear. The PokeGear was great and really made the Gold andy Silver experience unique. It really revolutionized the Pokemon gameplay and should be utilized just as it was previously.

I would love to see an electric type catchable before Falkner. He wasn't difficult, it's just that electric types are not too common.

And, just as many of those before this post, I would like to see more activity in Kanto or even some new areas like the Sevii Islands to add some more length in the story for the larger filespace.

Power could go out, so I'll continue at a later date. Until then, OMG YES!!1 I'M SO HAPPY!!!!

Omer.
May 10th, 2009, 03:47 AM
You could, like, see/hear a legendary at the beginning, so you know great things are destined for you. Also, Legendaries should be more inclusive into the storyline, because that was something G/S lacked.

Seeing as the rival is back in again standing in the same position as he was in GSC (yay), I'd like to see more on him (especially given the dialogue from someone in FR/LG about a red-haired kid being Giovanni's son - it is speculated that Silver is that kid). More story and all - he was one of my favourite parts of the game, and made for a more interesting rival than others, like the 3rd gen's May/Brendan.

I think you should be able to obtain every Johto Starter throughout the story, like how you obtained the starters in Yellow version.

They should also provide some background story on the Battle Tower, and have like before you beat the E4 it's under construction, but after the E4 it's finished.

With the GTS now, why not just request the starters from there instead? (This depends on whether these games actually gives us ACCESS to the GTS, though.)

You could be right, and if they are going to put a GTS, it'll most likely be in Goldenrod, the best of the GS cirtes. Also, it's just more of a fun story line to have all starters throughout most of it.

To tell the truth, I'd doubt they would remove a feature like that from any future games but who knows they might. The problem would be where would they put it in the game. It would probably be in the closest biggest city. Being Golden Rod, I Believe? But theres really no place there to put it unless something else is changed. Who knows whats going to happen.

Am I the only one who sees a potential error in this idea? I'm sure at least the most hardcore would be willing to evolve their starters before this event just by repetitively leveling up off level 2-4 opponents.

So very true. Our main character is so boring, and everyone else does the speaking for him. He/she should speak for himself/herself.

Yo, wassap everyone!
I just signed up in here because of Brown. One hell of a game.

Anyway, as for GSDS here is what I have to say:
Starter following you around = Awesome. Even at their final evolutions. I think it would just be great.

PokeGear: I agree. It shouldn't be replaced by the Poke whatever its called. Never liked it one bit.

Kanto: SHOULD.. No.. MUST be included much more into the story line and expanded. And I highly anticipate the "white rock" and what event it might trigger.

Main Character: They should follow in the steps of Pokemon Brown. Just finished the game and I simply love the idea of an interacting player.

GTS: It would probably be in Goldenrod. Since in the English releases of GSC the Mobile Connector thing was excluded (title), the only way to get Celebii was to get a GS Ball and a trigger code for a gameshark. Lets hope there is a universal event for that. The Celebi quest was awesome. Seriously. Everyone out there who haven't caught Celebi in GSC, get it and check out the codes. It seriously is great.

Finally, Red: He was so weak it was pathetic. I could take him down back in the day with almost always a OHKO when my Pokemon were only in their early-mid sixties. Pathetic. Pathetic pathetic pathetic. Again, they should follow in Pokemon Brown's footsteps in regards to what they did with SS Anne. Uber trainers at least at 60. I simply loved it.

Oh, and personally, I hope they don't change the Pokemon sprites TOO much. I know they already have, but I mean't their battle sprites. The ones in GSC simply rocked.

I think you should be able to obtain every Johto Starter throughout the story, like how you obtained the starters in Yellow version. If that was the case, then...either for some reason the rival doesn't get it (and considering he is in I suppose he will get it via stealing, as he did in GSC), or you get them from someone else. Which I find a bit unlikely... besides, Yellow did that as it drew from elements of the anime, to ride its success and all. (Never mind the anime coming from RB games XD). Since then, anime stuff besides from vague references few and far between has stayed well separate from the games.

No no no! Why do people say this! Poketech for Sinnoh. Pokegear for Johto. And the poketech while it has its uses has a crappy screen. And the map isn't as functional as a proper map as where on the pokegear it is. Now if they put many apps into the Pokegear yes. But taking out the pokegear? This is the second thing you said that I think upsetted many people. Also notice how they wouldn't dare go near the water route. They want us to think if kanto is in or not.

But personally, I really dont know. It kinda.. Mixes it up. I mean, Kanto should be Kanto. No outsider Pokes there. Thats what I think. But like, in the Sevii isles, thats a whole different story. I wouldn't say no to that. But the mainland should stay as it is.

@Michael: I think the PokeNav would be an excellent addition but only if, IF, it was a PokeGear add-on. Not its own individual section or item or whatever. Because then, it would be kinda redundant to have TWO All-In-One Poke-Technologies. Dontcha think? o_O;

The story of that white rock's been pretty much elaborated on; it's something to write who you want to say "Thank you" to. That's Platinum stuff. The fact it comes from Kanto might be better touched on by this though, I guess.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if we did see this rock or pieces of it. It'd probably be the way for another way to set to Shaymin.

It would add 496 more hex values, tell me how that doesn't bloat a ROM? Platinum's ROM was already double the size because they surpassed DP's hex limit by a couple dozen values.

Anyways, the return of Apricorn's would be awesome, and it would add a new plant (stupid berries are the only thing, and they're kind of annoying). I guarantee that these games will be the way Pokemon was supposed to be, and will right everything they screwed up with RSE.

GTS will be in place of the Time Machine, I think. That way you talk to someone in the Pokemon Center like you do for anything else, instead of having just one building to go to.

Depends how you feel about R/S/E. I personally like the games but I always thought G/S were the more superior.

Apricons are a must. I loved gving the to Kurt so he could make me the cool G/S/C Pokeballs.

Also, guys, Lugia/Ho-oh will specific to each games or both can be caught in each? Since it's a Ds games, I think they will want you to trade Pokemon so the will likely make the legends Game specific.

Also, I would much rather prefer they made a new trade system. Not just slap on the GTS from D/P/P.

Look at the size of Yu-Gi-Oh! ROMs. The latest one has a size of 256MB and Pokémon Platinum uses a 128MB yet. So we can have 2x Platinum in one ROM if we want. So there won't be a problem with HG / SS regarding ROM size^^

Serene Grace

I didn't think DS/HG would have a problem with Rom Size. With the new addons, Pokemon seems to be taking up more Rom Size and they still haven't had any problem.

At least 20 new PokeGear Apps. No, the PokeGear should be replaced with the Poketch, and that Poketch Company should have a Johto HQ in Goldenrod City to pick up the new apps. There should also be more apps than the ones in D/P/Pt.

Doing that, you lose the essence that is G/S. The PokeGear is a part of Generation II that you just can't change; just like the PokeNav from Gen III and the Poketch from D/P/Pt.

I do hope that the Vs. Recorder makes the leap to HG/SS; though there may not be a facility to utilise it properly, (though in Crystal, there was a Battle Tower, if I'm not mistaken... maybe it can be utilised there?) it would be something nice to have on hand, for when you battle friends, etc.

Another thing I'm looking forward to is the Bug Catching Contest; it was a unique thing that was never duplicated in any other Pokemon game... oh, and I'm hoping that the Safari Zone doesn't get closed down in the remake, like it was in the Generation II games. I understand that was done because of a glitch, back then... so maybe they'll be kind and let us have it, this time?

That said, I think I'll respond to some of the posts that aren't sure about Kanto being in the game. In general, you break G/S if you don't have Kanto included in the game, because it expands into a kind of sub-story and gives you more to do than the average Pokemon game of present times. The multi-Region travel is one of the primary things that has made me want a G/S Remake for so long, so I really hope they don't scrap Kanto and ruin a large part of this remake for me, at least.

Maybe the Sevii Islands will make a return? Well, the Japanese release is coming out in the Fall, so I guess we've got plenty of time to wonder about it... XD

There is a lot I'm looking forward to from this game, but mostly to get back into using all my Generation II Pokemon again. I've really missed Johto.

And later Serebii disproved that guy, who apparently changed what he wrote on his page since the announcement of this Pokémon Sunday episode.

Doing that, you lose the essence that is G/S. The PokeGear is a part of Generation II that you just can't change; just like the PokeNav from Gen III and the Poketch from D/P/Pt.Although for most things I agree with the fact that most would have to be the same to be...well, a remake, such as the who Kanto coming back, and so forth, I think the Pokegear would probably see some changes of some sort in the end. =/ Maybe not in the case of getting apps from Goldenrod and all (heck, that's WAY too much like D/P/Pt -_-), but it probably wll get some additions to it. But it needs the redio.

I do hope that the Vs. Recorder makes the leap to HG/SS; though there may not be a facility to utilise it properly, (though in Crystal, there was a Battle Tower, if I'm not mistaken... maybe it can be utilised there?) it would be something nice to have on hand, for when you battle friends, etc.Depends really if we see this replace the Phone or not, or whether it kinda merges with the phone. (Having every trainer be able to call you? That'd be something, if a bit annoying if they called too often....XD).
Another thing I'm looking forward to is the Bug Catching Contest; it was a unique thing that was never duplicated in any other Pokemon game... oh, and I'm hoping that the Safari Zone doesn't get closed down in the remake, like it was in the Generation II games. I understand that was done because of a glitch, back then... so maybe they'll be kind and let us have it, this time?Hear hear - Bug Catching comp was fun, although I also want the Safari zone to reopen. (And yes - it had been closed partly as it was the source of 'Glitch City' in RBY. They had maps and all for it, but took out the door and/or warp points to it). They'd have to change some minor things though, such as the whole Warden going overseas and never coming back to the Safari Zone, only having made the Bug Catching Competition instead. Maybe it'll be unlockable as a side quest or something?

(Actually, when I first played Silver I thought it was a side-quest that I could do to 'unlock' the Safari Zone, and hence I spent some time in the National Park looking for him after finding a sign there with a message, ending with 'THE WARDEN'. XD)
That said, I think I'll respond to some of the posts that aren't sure about Kanto being in the game. Somehow I don't get all of these calls to replace Kanto with the Orange Islands - I for one am curious to see Kanto again, 3 years after the events of FR/LG and all. And it was a big part of GSC - well, half of it anyway. But I reckon they will keep it - feeling kinda confident they will.

But... LONG LIVE JOHTO!

i hope when you go back to kanto they dont make it all messed up like in the orginal, with starting in like saffron and you have to find your way threw to the other citys, they should start off in pallet or viridian. One started from Vermillion City. The thing is though, if they don't do it like that, than they'd have to make up another way to do it besides using the ship which you unlock after beating the Elite Four. I kinda liked it though - it let me explore Kanto more or less my own way.

You know what I always wanted in a Pokemon Video Game?

A main character that could actually talk. ):

Call me crazy, but still. As I speculate through each new generation/game that comes out, that never happens. ;__;
actually, what would be fun is more voice activity- like yes or no, blue, green, red being able to call the pokemons name- that would be pretty fun! i always wanted a talking character, but being able to talk AS the character would be even better!

You started off in Vermillion and it was all cause of the port. There is no technical way to actually start in Pallet Town and Nah I don't want to start in Viridian. Blue should always stay the final leader. Anyway I am expect the running shoes to be given after the theft. I mean you go back and forth through all that and then again plus more without running shoes? Tedious! Anyway I wanna post bigger yet burrier pics.

I love the doors and how they look Like from Japan and all with the slit. I also like that the mailbox falls under the roog and doesn't look like its as tall as the house. Also those are surely vents so I really hop the underground comes along. I wonder whats upstairs...http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3658/3517808168_99f4a3842c_o.jpg
I love the detail for the roofs and all the windmilles. Also Golds sprite is excellent. It seems to me that the maps are the same just they make it look more filled and all with the grass patches around the houses then a desolate garbage dump. I cannot wait to see the likes of cherrygrove violet and goldenrod. As well as Eucrateak the radio tower and of course the lightous. Overall I expect many map additions like the windmills so yeah. 3 regions=overkill. Jeez why do so many people want Hoenn in?!

Tater Tot
May 10th, 2009, 01:16 PM
What good would Hoenn do? It would just be an unnecessary risk to add that would do nothing but make the game longer. It's not needed at all. o_o GS already has the Kanto Gyms to blow through after you've beaten the Elite Four, which is all I believe is needed. Hoenn would just be... no. :x

If the Hoenn region was added, it would be a big turnoff to me. It would make me that much less persuasive to buy it.

bobandbill
May 10th, 2009, 01:33 PM
Not to mention that suddenly going to add yet another full region into it would be odd for them to do. They already will get even more sales out of the whole 2-regions thing if they choose to keep it (and IMO they should and will), and Hoenn being added would then have a high potential to hinder them if they wished to make a one-region game involving Hoenn down the track some time. It's just something that's unlikely and unfeasible to happen.

But people are going to say all sorts of stuff in the coming weeks and months. Heck, you should have seen stuff that was said in the lead-up to DP all over the place, and after it too. Ah, the madness... I'd suggest getting used to it, and prepared to remind people why some stuff is unlikely to happen a few times, I guess.

Well in Silver the case was a level 45 Lugia in the whirl Island then after getting the Rainbow Wing in Pewter you would go to tin tower and get a level 70 Ho-oh. In gold it was level 45 Ho-oh Tin Tower level 70 Lugia in Whirl Islands. Thats what I love bout the games. They had seperate dungeons then oh gee one place.

Actually, now that I think about it, they could implement a double battle with Lugia and Ho-Oh, like they did with Groudon and Kyogre in Emerald. A reason for this could be that double battles weren't possible until the third generation, right?

Then again, that's probably wrong. They'll both probably be in the same place as they were in the old games, and you'll need to get the two wings to reach them.

I wonder if the Red Gyarados is gonna be kept, since it apparently made news appearances in Sinnoh.

Yeah, it probably will be, but the story surrounding it might become slightly bigger. You have to remember that D/P/P and G/S/C all took place three years after R/B/Y, so it's possibly that the Red Gyarados migrated from Sinnoh to Johto.

Um, it might be remade into a HM for the game? And if it isn't, there'll definitely be new obstacles you'll have to overcome to reach Lugia.

In my opinion, all I would want to see featured in the game would be the option of getting both Ho-oh and Lugia, and better graphics. I'm not really one for much change. If they have a total blowout, and cause it to feel like a totally different game from GS, I would be angry. What they made in 2000 was a huge hit, and everyone absolutely adored it. Why should they change much? It's just a risk of the fans not appreciating it as much as they did in 2000. If they added a whole load of crap to the the game, it would seem to over the top and the fans wouldn't appreciate it as much. All I'm hoping for is that most of the features in 2000 will stay the same, and that the creators won't go overboard with it.

I wonder if the ferry that takes you to Kanto and back will return as well, along with the Magnet train. I reckon those will, personally... haircuts, the Miltank Farm... (and the mini-quest there too? Depends if the miltanks like Oran Berries which will probably replace Berries)... the Headbutt trees, RageCandyBars (actually saw minor side use in the Rocket plot and as a barrier - couldn't pass someone who was selling them until you beat Pyrce), the Beserk Gene (that'll possible remain as a hidden item by Mewtwo's cave if it remains closed in the game as it was in GSC)...

I made a large post involve a fair amount of small stuff actually. I remember too much. XD

The Kimono Girls, I wounder if there will be two added for Leafeon & Glaceon. I wonder that too. I don't about this. Half of me wants Nintendo to create this remake with only 251, but the other half wants some Pokémons like these two Eeveelutions to appear...

Nah. the original 7 were great. No need for more of them. Meh, I'm content with that if they stick to the original seven.

Well because of the bigger screen and more detail they could put in it pehaps a more detail puzzle and more pieces? It's possible.

Yes true but at least we know his hate is new.Hopefully, we'll learn more about their design.

And sadly this comes with a wave of new users who never research until they are experienced with the net. They'll eventually learn.

Contests? No PLEASE! If they would include em, I hope there is no unlockable in the end such as in RSE in the museum of art. I hated Contests so much that I used an AR just to get through em quick and see my Pokemon in the museum.

If your talking about gender specific in-game side-quests, I think it would be nice, but kinda unfair. After all different people like different things. BUT!!! Perhaps like this: A gender specific side-quest that can be unlocked and completed by the opposite gender via quest of some sort. Whatcha think?

Hoenn? In GSDS? No. Please, just no. I honestly enjoyed Hoenn a lot. I probably put in 250-300 hours there alone! But I can't say am not pissed at Nintendo for not making a Pokemon game with all the regions. Probably not for a handheld console, but for Wii. I would LOVE it if it would be on a handheld, and dont tell me anything about a space issue. They are using flash cards basically. Last I checked, a very long time ago, they got em up to 4 GB. So yea, memory wouldn't be a problem at all.

As for where to start in Kanto, I honestly didn't have any problems with starting in Saffron. Infact, it was kinda nice. It wouldn't be logical to start in Viridian or Pallet. One of the reasons is that guy at the Indigo Platue doesn't move until you beat the Elite Four, but then again, once he does nothing is stopping you. But I never tried it. Pallet just wouldn't be a possible starting point.

As for the white rock, I doubt it would be another Shaymin event. A possible proof would be the one in Hoenn. It didn't really do anything. It was just there for some reason as far as I know. It would be great if it lead to one of the unobtainables in the past like Celebi or Mew. I would personally prefer to get Celebi as there is no other way to get it other than.. Wait, IS there a way to get it?... Hmm.. OH! Yea, the Japanese bonus disk that came with the Japanese Colosium. I think Mew is just a tiny bit overrated. But I must say.. Its on cute Pokemon. x.x;! I named mine in brown Kawaii. <<; >|
And yea, them item people were a wonderful addition. They MUST make a comeo. I DEMAND it! x.x;

Oh, I almost forgot. About the Red Gyarados, my little brother is one presistant guy and he caught one in the first lake in Pearl with a rod I think. But it MUST, it MUST make a comeback in GSDS. Its a vital part of the story. If its not there, then the whole meeting Lance and kicking TR's behind would not be possible.

Edit: New Pokemon? Whatcha think its gonna be?

Just thought it was a bit interesting... Someone could have already posted this... Oh well... =P

I think I heard about this before. This however I find suspicious. It's a random news articles in an untrustworthy location (in that it's not a major Pokemon site or anything like that), is thrown in just like that with no warning as well... seems iffy, and basically all random info not from official sources should be treated with caution. I wouldn't believe it yet, and it makes WAY more sense for them to hold out on new Pokemon until next gen. And there are other reasons I could go over.

Not impossible, but given the nature of this and all atm I doubt it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i hate that japan get the games first...yes i know they make them but i mean for a remake they could at least release them both at the same time. cause everyone wants them badly and we have to wait longer. Not done as first they'd have to translate to english for the US release, and some other stuff as well. Then there's the delay between the US and Australia/New Zealand/Europe/Everywhere else due to other translating, and necessarily changes whcih has something to do with code and regions and stuff like that. If you heard about games being in 'PAL' and 'NTUS' (bah know I got the latter wrong there, am tired), then they change that from one to the other. Necessary and all, and hence why the delays happens.

To whoever suggested the TMs would change, I highly doubt it. Speaking from history, FireRed/LeafGreen did not retain the original TMs/HMs from Red/Green. Instead, they added Move Tutors.

Expect a lot of move tutors to fill in the missing moves. Don't be surprised if Whirlpool changes into a HM though, since HMs are not able to be traded. And for GameFreak, doing that might be necessary.

Dive is one of my favorite parts of the RSE series. It's so cool to be able to go underwater! It's definitely true that Hoenn has a LOT more water-based locations than Johto and Kanto do...

Dive would be wonderful to have again...but what would it be used for in the game?

I think if anything, to get to the whirl islands... Though now that I think of it, wouldn't you need to re-name them the dive islands? LOL Maybe to get to Cianwood city...

I'd rather hope they're TMs with the out-of-battle ability, like Flash, but who knows. If they do make Whirlpool or Dive the HM for Lugia or what have you, I'll gladly use my Mantine. <3

All I know is that when Victory Road requires flash, it's so annoying to have an HM slave or a Pokemon with flash on your team... TMs are so much easier (provided you have the cash) but that's what the amulet coin is for! I hate the move whirlpool in battle, so I hope they make it a TM or at LEAST do what they did with rock smash (upping the power a bit).

Indeed it would, but in my opinion both of those HMs are useless after a certain point. I'd love for both to be TMs that can be bought at the Mart.

At a regular Pokemart? Or only the Dept. stores? If you're not limited to Goldenrod and Celadon, that would be cool... but it would kinda be odd to see TMs listed on the list of items you can buy along with potions, pokeballs, and full heals. LOL

I am really wondering how they are going to incorporate one of my favourite features from G/S, the room decorating. I remember it was only able to be done through the infrared port the Gameboy Colour had. My friend and I would use our two Gameboys and trade with each other to try to get all the decorations, and then switch out versions so we could get 2 pieces each a day. I really hope they keep this feature somehow, maybe making it able to be done with a friend over wifi or wireless. Did anyone else like this feature? I liked being able to decorate my room better than secret base or underground bases really.

I would definitely have to agree. Flash was always useless, even more so after they changed it from an HM to a TM. Rock climb was always annoying though cut isn't too bad. Rock smash was always an annoying one to me too. Either have rock smash or strength, both just seem redundant.

Be nice if they just went with strength OR rock smash, cut, surf, waterfall and fly. That's all we need.

Adding more regions will only net them a few more sales - but this would probably hurt any future games they may want to make right into next gen with Hoenn, remake or not-remake. Even if Nintendo/Game Freak don't beleive they will make an RSE remake or another game with Hoenn, they wouldn't go about doing such a thing.

But I don't feel that the remakes/originals have diminished in 'specialness' for me, personally... I'm pretty much excited, and still value GSC pretty highly. Even if the remake ends up better than it, methinks they'll still be special to me. But that's me. =)

To add to my previous post, I think the inclusion of the Orange Islands would be a perfect place to house legends. The Dogs could be split up on seperate Islands for instance.

Well, I'm wondering if they'll include the Orange Islands. This in itself would be special, they haven't used them in any other game to date, and it was a large part of the story line. More badges to collect and brand new places to explore seems pretty exciting to me.
Orange Island were an Anime Exclusive garbage fest cause they had nothing to put inbetween the regions. So yeah no orange island.

I don't see a reason why not. The Sevii Islands weren't in the anime iirc (which is very shoddy, considering I barely watched it...).

No they weren't but they were an excellent addition to the games.(yes I went there. come. at. me.) If not the Sevii Island are fine enough and seeing as this is a followup to FR/LG they should be in and changed for the 3 Year gap. And anime=/=games especially when it has to do with something that failed so hard.(yes i hate not only Hoenn as a region but the orange islands. *shot*)

Orange Islands only ever appeared in the anime, and were used as a bridge in-between the Kanto and Johto series - they have had nothing to do with the games, and hence are quite unlikely to be in this game, given this is a remake made by Game Freak of GSC (Johto and Kanto alone were in the original GSC), and Game Freak isn't about to go use a bunch of islands created in the anime about 10 years ago just like that. They for instance would be more likely to use Sevii Islands - another set of islands they made themselves. But stuff from the anime has not being involved in the games since Yellow, and that was done to ride the success of the anime back then. Curiously though they hadn't used the Orange Islands though in addition to the few elements that did such as starting with a Pikachu... -_-

Basically, anime =/= games - there are MANY places which have appeared in the anime which have not been in the games, so it's a usual thing to happen. Orange Islands is a large place anime-only due to, as mentioned before, being used as a 'filler' place for the anime to use until Johto happened in the games and the anime could then use that to promote itself, after it had run its course of Kanto. Don't expect the Orange Islands to be in - I'll confidently say that it won't.
To add to my previous post, I think the inclusion of the Orange Islands would be a perfect place to house legends. The Dogs could be split up on seperate Islands for instance. Don't quite follow... that would then involve change the whole business about the Johto beasts being found in the Burnt Tower in Johto and so forth. Why would they suddenly be on the orange Islands instead? That's changing something canonically established in GS AND C, and I doubt they're just about to go and do that. =/

Ugh...why can't people get it through their heads that the Orange islands were MAJOR FILLER EPISODES!? They WEREN'T MEANT to be from the games in the first place! The cartoon has less influence on the games aside from Yellow and Double Battles. The storyline of the cartoon DOES NOT AFFECT the game's storyline in ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM!

with enough luck, theyyll include ALL TAH REGIONS!!!!

if they do, it would be better to have each pokemon stay in its original region, to make things less confusing

(ie, Pidgey only in Kanto, Hoothoot only in Johto, taillow only in Hoenn, etc)

I don't think they will include all of the regions. Remember, this is only a remake.

I'm just happy that Nintendo is actually taking the time to make these games. And with the expectations, be realistic. They're not going to make it have four regions. I'm sorry, but that is way too much. Two is good enough. (That's why there is trading between RSE and FRLG, and migrating in DPP.) Besides, it's like your character got a makeover. You can name every trainer you play as the same name, and it will just be with a different id number.

(I love that clip of New Bark Town. <3 Chikorita is adorable... I wish I could play that game already, but I'll (try to) wait...patiently...)

I hope they take out Money for Mom. It was so annoying. On the flip side, I hope they keep it in. But going by memory, I believe you didn't have to give her any money - she asked if you wanted to send her money or not, and I believe you could toggle that feature off. Possibly this would be the case again, if it returns.

I wonder if we'll ever see the protagonist's dad? Most Pokemon game protagonists seem to be missing one...

yeah - another feature I liked. Including the fact that she bought stuff that you could use to decorate your room with. (Giant Snorlax/Lapras doll FTW). I wonder if that feature stays in? Would be grand - but I don't mind the room going so much if it was in favour for a secret base or something like that. =D

The thing I most want to see return is different pokemon sprites for the separate versions (I.E Heart gold has one selction and Soul Silver has another selection) as after finding out about these new remakes I went onto my Pokemon Silver (after not playing it for years) and remembered that Gold's Poke sprites were different to Silver's e.g Gold's Ratatta was in an attacking postion whilst Silver's seemed more relaxed being stood on it's hind legs, this is what I want to see returned as when I first had Silver and my mate had gold it was cool comparing pokedex's and the pics there in.

I don't think that any needed moves (ie whirlpool) could be tms as this could lead to the player getting trapped. I mean, what would happen if a player replaced Dive whilst underwater?! (Flash is different, it doesn't impede your progress, just makes it near impossible).
Another thing to do with TMs/HMs is rock smash. In the originals it was just a TM, with like, one use in the entire games. Seeing as FR/LG included it as an HM, I reckon it will be upgraded to HM and more puzzles will involve it. Which is a shame, as it's a terrible move.

I apologize, but to put it bluntly, there is a greater chance of Nintendo removing Wi-Fi access from these games than there is the removal of Effort and Individual Values. Even putting aside the obvious compatibility issues that there would be with the entirety of the 3rd and 4th Generations, EV training is too popular among competitive battlers for Nintendo or Gamefreak to remove it and risk alienating a fair amount of their customers. It is not going to happen, especially not in remakes that are not even a new Generation.

Besides, these were still part of the original Gold and Silver, so there is no chance that Nintendo/Gamefreak is going to remove a feature from the remakes when it was introduced in the originals.

It would only be natural to see influences of Japanese culture in games that are first created in Japan, between Sprout Tower, the Legendary Beasts themselves, and whatever else I am not remembering right now. However... Sorry, but I am really not seeing the connection in appearance here. It might be similar to one of Lugia's classic sprites, but that would only be because of that specific pose.

Nope it did not. And I doubt the starter will have evolution restrictions. Honestly I do not mind if I have a Typhlosion or a Meganium running behind me .It shows how far you progressed and that your journey is also an experience watching your Pokemon grow along with you. In Yellow, you could evolve your Pickachu by trading it and using a Thunder Stone. But when traded back, it won't follow you anymore. I hope the same doesn't happen in GSDS. It WOULD be nice and just as Todokori stated, it would reflect the journey itself. I hope they still follow you around the whole game even after evoloving. If not.. Thats one less PokeSlot for me. I'd trade a Cyndaquil or something and raise that one and keep the original just there following me around. Kinda idiotic but I like the idea of the starter following me round.

In Platinum, there's a way to change the form of Shaymin (from Land Form to Sky Form) and Rotom's form. It's better explained here (http://www.serebii.net/platinum/forms.shtml).

I still doubt that the starter will follow you throughout the entire game. Pikachu's tiny, a one-foot critter. Also, Yellow was based on the anime. The final stage of evolution for the Johto starters are big (Feraligatr is six feet huge, which is around two feet taller than the player, if one rounds.), and not all trainers have their starter follow them. So I still stand by what I've been saying for the past few days: the starter follows you up to the Mr. Pokemon/first rival battle event because it isn't technically the player's yet.

I mean it's giving most people headaches battling the right pokemon for certain EVs, so why bother when we have Natures?
Unfortunately, EVs/IVs aren't going away. You can just not use them for your Pokemon (but have fun in competitive battles) and let those that like EVs/IVs use them. And as others have said, they've been in the games for years.

I do not mind the idea of the Pokemon following the player. I would just have to make due with it if it is a game feature.

Now someone mention earlier about the slient protagonist. Well the truth is that Pokemon are not the only games that has silent protagonist. Almost all of the RPGs published by Nintendo have silent protagonist like the playable characters in the Pokemon games.

I the Johto Starters new art look splendid. I am look foward to see what the artwork and clothing of the characters look like. I hope we get to see it this month or next month. I also want to see the new stock art of other Johto Pokemon as well who has yet to be updated.

From the video i have a few theories on what is in the games
Looks like there is a new wind element, possibly having something to do with Ho-oh and/or Lugia.
I see the starter follows Gold around like in Yellow, possibly for the whole game (drawing this comparison from Amity Square in platinum).
There are also outdoor stairs and a brown bulge on the professor's lab, which could be a new game feature such as an observatory for whatever (purely hypothetical).
Lastly, as a simple plus, the shadows look larger and more defined, i mean there are shadows on the wind direction indicators and there were no (extending) shadows coming from the windmills in D/P/Pt.
I suppose that bases on the video that is all the information that i could extract. Sorry

Things i want to see? well it would be nice to have a story surronding the birds similar to how in r/s/d/p has a critical point here it is necessary to fight the legendary.
i want to see how they are bringing berries to this land, and i dont want to see that berry powder crap again like in fr/lg.

After watching a video of a game, I was quickly able to see the little things in every map and give an estimated size. I was close, though. The person cut it down severely, but I was still close. He never got rid of the mp3 though, so I won.

Plus, Platinum is 128MB and it doesn't have much of this. This should be 256MB as it has less free space.

I sincerely doubt that the Orange Islands will be added into these remakes, especially when there is already a local game-canon series of islands that can be used just as easily. That actually reminds me of something else: now that these remakes have been announced, I would like to see Nintendo re-release Pokemon Stadium 2 on the Virtual Console, with connectivity to HeartGold and SoulSilver similar to that of the original games as well as a filter to block out compatibility problems with the two recent Generations. So I still stand by what I've been saying for the past few days: the starter follows you up to the Mr. Pokemon/first rival battle event because it isn't technically the player's yet.

Unfortunately, EVs/IVs aren't going away. You can just not use them for your Pokemon (but have fun in competitive battles) and let those that like EVs/IVs use them. And as others have said, they've been in the games for years.

Who the heck said EVs should go away? XD

I agree completely with Astinus; I think the starter only follows you for a short time (or maybe, we even get a feature to turn it on and off.)

But as adorable as 'Dile would be following me, Gatr can stay in his Pokéball. O_o
