I had my Linksys Wi-Fi router since September 2008, and yet I only use it for Wi-Fi battles and such.
Now I'm wondering, what are the other uses for a Wi-Fi router?

They allow you to establish a connection where laptops, some desktops (ones with wireless cards), phones, and other wireless devices can connect to the internet within a certain radius of the router.

Routers can split a single connection between multiple computers, often in the way quoted.

You can also get something that plugs into your computer to pick up the signal and use it if it has no wireless cards. That's what I did at my old house because our internet was slow, I just stole their internet. And my computer was from 1999/2000 so, yeah.
