The top of my "most used" list is Notepad. Wow. I guess it does kick ass though. Such a simple program, with such ultimate potential.

In all seriousness my favorite programs are probably my emulators. I have a hell of a lot of games on them. Other stuff I like is FamiTracker (A tracker for making NES music), Firefox and Urban Terror (funfun)

I prefer Metapad (http://liquidninja.com/metapad/) LE. Just as fast, and with more functionality. It even has optional transparency for those of you that like that (not reliant on the DWM). I also dove into my system, reassigning .inf and .txt to run with Metapad and making a * file context menu entry for "Open with Metapad."

I am well aware of the fact that there are far more featured text editors out there. ;) Hell, all the ones that come with most Linux distros, even VI, beat the hell out of notepad on that front. What makes notepad special is it's sheer lack of features. It's just you, the keyboard, and the words appearing on screen. That's what makes it epic.

Taskbar Shuffle is a godsend. I can't imagine going back to not using it.

Freestyle Farfetch'd, I agree with you 100% about Notepad. I've used other notepad apps such as Notepad++, that are meant to help with coding, but I still prefer using Notepad for anything, including coding. I even use it loads more than MS Word. Only thing I find useful about that is text formatting.

Try it before judging it. I wouldn't use it if it were bloated; there's nothing I hate more. It's a very small download, so there's nothing to lose.

Heh, once again, bloat's not what I'm concerned about! I generally use other editors for coding, such as Notepad2. Notepad however, I use for writing first Drafts of essays, character profiles, RP posts, everything else. What I like about it is that it's just soso basic and bs free. You type text, it shows it. Nothing more. =p The lack of functionality has a certain appeal to me, that's all. I guess I just like to prove that so much can be done with a program that everyone has on their computer, and that sometimes, there's no need to download a word processor or anything more fancy!

Pretty much iTunes and Safari.
I always have iTunes open, like no exceptions, and I guess my last.fm scrobbler could go along with iTunes, and Bowtie, since it's a good iTunes controller.

I usually don't type much x_x. I even ignore the lack of any word processing software in here, but even though I have Notepad++, I tend to prefer the IDEs or notepads and sometimes even edit.com. And for Linux, I generally use gedit.

MAMplayer- Who doesn't want a neat light show to go with your midis?
GXSCC - Don't tell me you wouldn't like to hear a 8-bit version of your favorite song?
Meridian Advance - Don't we all want a HDD space effecient program to play our video game music?
Joy2Key - This Program lets your controller be your mouse, keyboard, or your means to play games that are keyboard/mouse only. I wonder what would I do without it?

For those who don't know GXSCC and MAMplayer are programs that revolve around midi files. GXSCC plays are your midi files but it instead of the usual instuments you get from those files. That player will use the same kind of intruments that are used on a NES. MAMplayer is a normal midi player with an added touch it has some rather special visualizations. As for Meridian Advance that a very special media player that plays only "special" file types. If you want more details about the specifics feel free to pm me.

YouTube Downloader
If you're using Firefox, just use the Video DownloadHelper (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006) addon instead of having another useless program open. Lets you download off pretty much any video site (except Hulu, which uses some weird streaming format that's meant to prevent ripping). Just click the small arrow next to the icon and hit "download" and you're all set. For YouTube, it even lets you choose the quality (HQ18 (http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=UWRyj5cHIQA&t=vjVQa1PpcFOB7dYJ9AtE0pKIRUYBul9AcCt5cg2gDCo%3D&fmt=18) is high audio quality, HQ35 (http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=5OgHT9SSGHw&t=vjVQa1PpcFPp65JbDRpA6u-f612gmxfE7CvAc0wnIWY%3D&fmt=35) is high quality, HQ22 (http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=DoEhsLDluBo&t=vjVQa1PpcFMv6gzX77hDWQKylytdA4PAGc33t9DOpSM%3D&fmt=22) is HD audio/video).
