Lets say I catch a shiny ditto and breed it with a regular pokemon, is it still a 1/8500 chance of geting a shiny or does the chances increase?

And what if you have 2 shiny pokemon and breed them, will the offspring we a shiny?

Unfortunately, having a shiny parent does not improve the odds of a child being shiny

Even if both are shiny? That should increase it a little bit at least =/

It used to have higher odds back in GSC, but they took that out, now the odds are back to normal regardless of whether any or both parents are shiny. Shiny are meant to be rare, either genetic throwbacks or mutations in the evolution of Pokemon. At least that's how I see it.

If you want to go into the technical side... in GSC, shininess was determined by the IV number of the Pokemon, and since IVs went across in breeding, the odds were a lot higher to get a shiny in the first place. In 3rd gen games, shininess has it's own special number, so breeding unfortunately cannot do anything :/ Shame really..
