Get HG/SS to Work /Tested

1. Get No$GBA
2. Download the ROM
3. Download the patch (I don't see anywhere that it is against the rules to post downloads, but just so you know I have no idea if this site is safe.)

4. Apply the patch
- Extract it.
- Open in.
- Click the button at the lower right corner.
- Select your ROM.
- Replace it (Click OK)
5. Open your ROM in NoGBA
6. Add the following code to your cheat list:
- 020DD9DC E1A00000
7. Check 'Action Replay DS'
8. Click OK.
9. Before closing, look at your cheat name. See the white box? Check it.
10. Go to File then Reset Cartridge

- It DOES have extra firmware that runs HG/SS smoother.
2. Download this patch:

3. Patch it. It's not really that hard to patch at all, so I don't feel the need to put directions for that.
4. Input this code to bypass black screenzorz:

020D3820 E1A00000

5. Select "Action Replay DS" and click okay.
6. Check the box next to the code you put in.
7. Restart cartridge.

IN MY EXPERIENCE this works better than the first method. The patch does translate some things to English.

Now it should play without freezing after the intro. It might freeze sometimes randomly in the game so make sure you save. Also, No$GBA is the only emulator that plays it at full speed and has sound.

Remember to change the NDS Cartridge Backup media in Emulation Options to Flash 512Kb. The same happened with me until I found that out, and it ran fine afterwards.

That's strange. Everyone I know (including myself) it ran at full speed in buildings but dropped to around 50% speed when outside. :/ You have a Jesus Desume version.

I bolded the word "I" because it's just everyone I know, I don't know everyone.

@humanking If the ROM Image Crashes, you loose everything up to the last time you shut off NoGBA. If it just freezes, you start at your last save point. So, what I do is after every 3 saves I shut it down. It's not as much as an inconvenience as it sounds.

you can't stop the freezing, so save often and hope it doesn't freeze at the wrong time

There is only one ROM source right now. You probably just did it wrong.

Whenever I do that, it crashes the second it opens. Then I cant get to the settings because it keeps crashing the second it opens so I have re-download the emulator.

I found a new way to do it that works a lot better. It supposedly has almost no random freezing and no complete crashes what-so-ever. After I get approval to link to the downloads, I will edit the first post.

I've been playing with the code on and I do experience freezing at random times but not as frequent as it was before.

My only concern is that whilst I'm playing on No$GBA, if it freezes, it crashes and then reopening the emulator and loading the rom again, I noticed my save is gone.
And since these snapshot save things don't work for me either, it's rather annoying.
I wish No$GBA had proper save states.

EDIT: Does anyone know of a solution to ensure that I can keep my save if the freeze happens again?
Right now I'm just closing the emulator each time I save and reloading to sort-of reset the freezing clock(that's what I like to call it).
But since I don't know when it'll happen, I have to be cautious and save every 5 mins or so, close, reload, play and repeat.

Close it after saving, then re-open. That ensures it wont be erased.

there patches... not roms just like the ones all over pokecommunity, in the rom hacking threads :) there not roms and a moderater knows this aswell (he/she thought they were roms but then i told him/her that they were patches...so there :)

What i do in no$zoomer is I play for several minutes and save then I goto file-recently openly files and click the same rom. It also works if you click file- open and click the same rom. I recommanded you to get winds pro to get good performance. Pokethlon takes al power. You guys could use that code, or set it to Nds firmwire always. Here are my settings if this helps

Realtime, auto
Gba Bios
24 bit
Opengl or nocash (Fast, but same speed in pokethlon)
Vga
Auto for both backup media
100 watts
Digital sterio
High 44khz
none/disable for multiboot
fast/fast

The no$zoomer:

Directx 8
size x2
super2xsai
20fps (no automatic skip)
and in other tab, Extras are all uncheck

You have to get a clean rom of Pokemon heartgold and Soul silver

You do know posting a link to DS Bios files is just as bad as posting a link to a rom its self. Both contain copyrighted code by nintendo.

the way i got hgss to work flawless without no freezes or bsod (black screen of death) is you need all 3 bios files u select start from gba bios in no$gba then patch the rom with rudolph patch and bingo sorted iv managed to get all the way to the 3rd gym in kanto without 1 single crash. and u need no$zoomer to load the game or no$ wil crash instantly upon load

:O i played this on my No$gba 2.6a with zoomer changed settings etc. and my game runs at lowest 105% outside!!!!!!!!
If it drops to 49%-57% like it does after certain scripts etc. i open the menu then go into poke gear etc. then go out and its at 111% again or i go in then out of a building!!!!!

OKay, if anybodies willing, I really need help. Everytime I try to use it with no$gba or no$zoomer the screen turns black after entering my name and gender ( you know after the part with oak). I've tried multiple roms and patches for said roms, but nothing works. If anybody has a way to help, please, please send me a pm. Also, every other emulator i tried is too laggy to play.
