Goodluck Hallway you'll need it!

Thanks, but I think I can do it. I beat it with my steel Pokemon, and they were 10 levels under-leveled. Normal Types only have one weakness anyway, and I'll be able to hit ghosts by the time I face them with a move like shock wave.

I'll do a Grass Monotype on Sapphire :D

Not sure if I this would be the place to ask but,

With these monotype challenges, does the pokemon have to be just one type like for example just fire, water, grass, etc.? or can it be two as long as one of its types is the one you're using? for example Camerupt(ground/fire) or Skarmory(Steel/flying).

I'm pretty sure you can use a Pokemon with multiple types. When I did my steel run I used Aggron (Rock/Steel), Skarmory (Steel/flying), and Magneton (Steel/Electric) as well as Mawile.

No one is doing grass, so I'll do that, if I can do two, one on Sapphire and one on Ruby, I'll do steel on the other.

If you are doing steel, let me warn you that Numels are very annoying. And if you do, if your doing that one on Ruby, Groudon is impossible. I had to catch it with a master ball when I did this, just to get past him.

A brief update c: I didn't have much time today so all I did was a bit of training, my team is now as follows:

Taillow lvl. 16 -- Vogel
Nincada lvl. 10 -- Schnell (will be evolving into a Ninjask to use)
Zubat lvl. 11 -- Nacht
Magikarp lvl. 10 -- Drako (again, will be evolving into a Gyarados)

I want to get Nacht up to about level 13 before I take on Brawley, even though I won't have any trouble, I do want a backup in case Vogel somehow gets taken out. x3

Well I'm stuck at the first gym and might need to do more training.

Pokemon:
Zigzagoon - Lv17
Whismur - Lv16

I might try to evolve them so I can beat those pesky rock Pokemon.

Edit: Beat it with a Lv 20 Linoone. I'm hoping that the fighting gym won't be as bad.

Your hoping that the gym with the type that is SUPER effective against your type wont be as bad???

The reason it was bad in the rock gym was because I couldn't do any damage. In the fighting gym that is not the case. I'm not saying that this gym will be easy, but it won't be hard for me to beat with Lv20+ Loudred and Linoone.

Update: Beat the Fighting gym on my first try, in 5 turns. Too easy.

Lol yeah, it would be difficult to pull off considering that the next opportunity to get a ghost type would be Shuppet and Duskull, which you don't get until the second to last badge or something. xD; Good luck with whatever you choose though. c:

Just to let you know, there is a different thread if you are thinking of doing a mono-type challenge on Fire Red or Leaf Green. This is just a thread for just Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald mono-type runs. So only post here, if your doing that dark run on Sapphire, or another run on these three games.

Okay, so you want a fire type before dewford town?
Umm, you cant sadly =\ You will have to wait till you can get to the desert arround route 111 and Lavaridge Town and Fallarbor Town. Get as much fire types you can there, there will not be allot of fire pokemon :(

Yes, you can. I'm doing that with mine as well -- neither Magikarp nor Nincada are flying types but their evos are, so it's fine to use them, though try and use them as little as possible until they evolve 8D

And yes, you can catch as many Pokemon as you like, but don't use them in battle if they're not the type you picked. c:

Blahhhh I'll post an update tomorrow or something, since I've been playing a decent bit this weekend, too lazy to do it now though x3

You are able to use Pokemon with more than one types. So Aron is a go. Why didn't you ask about Geodude, he being part ground and all, just curious.

Because Aron is Steel:Rock and Geodude is Rock:Ground, thought the order might have had something to do with it, anyway thanks for clearing that up, no time wasted training him up. :)

This is where I intervene and say that you chose fire types knowing which fire types were in the game. Dragons can't count as fire types, I'm afraid, but then again, you'll have to take that up with the person conducting this challenge.

Haha wow, I am -really- slow xD;

I'm not sure where I left off at my last update, so I'll just start from Dewford.

-Spent some time training in Dewford
-Beat Brawly with some surprising difficulty (Taillow is half-normal so no type resistance, and its Def is quite lame, so I had to train up my other pokes 8D )
-Delivered the letter to Steven
-Sailed on to Slateport
-kicked the Magma thugs out of the museum
-Delivered the Devon Goods
-Trained with Trainers in Route 110 (above Slateport) and in the Trick House, got my butt kicked repeatedly by some kid in the grass who had a friggen Aron. :C
-Not quite to Mauville yet, but training like crazy cuz I know Wattson is gonna be super difficult D:

My Current Team:

Magikarp (Drako) (to evolve into a Gyarados) lvl 15
~Splash
~Tackle

Taillow (Vogel) lvl 19
~Peck
~Wing Attack
~Focus Energy

Nincada (Schnell) (to evolve into a Ninjask) lvl 14
~Scratch
~Sand-Attack
~Leech Life
~Cut

Zubat (Nacht) lvl 14

It was only really for that gym then for when I get Fly that'll be about it.
But it's still Normal type so it's allowed

I didn't say it wasn't allowed, I was just saying that it was taking the easy way out. I beat the fighting gym without Tailow in 5 turns.

So I'm thinking of going ahead and doing the Electric challenge, how should I go about starting? Gonna be done on my Emerald ver.

Edit: If I have too, then I'll do this on an Emulator so I can get the Poke early. (Thinking a Voltorb). If I have to, I'll wait until I get an Electrike, Plusle, or Minun.

You should do it on a emulator. Emerald, and get all the pokemon you want early. At level 1. I think we are allowed to do that.

Just get all your wanted pokemon at level 1 and play the game :D

You want to have a little bit of a challenge. I do the same thing thing in my challenges. I started out with Treecko in my normal run as well to face the fire/fighting Pokemon Torchic would become.
Yeah same, I started with Mudkip as I'm doing rock type, so Treeko is my opponent, I would have started with Torchic but a Water and Ground typed Mudkip would kick the crap out of me. xD

Traveled to Lilycove City and beat my rival.
Beat Team Magma's base thing and got Master Ball.
Trained and traveled to Mossdeep City.
Beat the Mossdeep Gym a lot easier than expected.
Got dive and beat team magma at their underground cavern or whatever it was.
Awakened Groudon and caught him at Sootapolis City (used the masterball because it was killing all my pokemon in like one/two hits.)
Trained all over the waters of Hoenn.
Trained a lot, trained more then trained some more.
Still can't beat Wallace.
Training more.

Update

Beating Daddy

Beat all of the Trainers in Petalburg Gym. Easily defeated Norman's other Pokemon until Slaking. Towards the end only had Brutus and Splode left, Brutus did a lot of damage, and before he was KOed I revived Korster. Sent out Strode and he has crazy speed so used Selfdestruct and won myself a Gym Badge. Received Surf from Wally's Dad or whoever and made my way back to Mauville. Went to New Mauville and caught my new buddy, Magnemite. After the mission there I received Thunderbolt.

The City of Trees

After receiving Surf I proceeded to make my way to Fortree City. On the way my Magnemite evolved into a Magneton. I also spotted a shiny Zigzagoon but I KOed it while trying to catch it, oh well. It would have made a nice HM Slave. Anyway I took out all of the Team Aqua members in the Weather Institute easily. Finally made it to Fortree City and did the Kecleon thing. Entered the gym and easily disposed of Winona's junior trainers. After I began my battle with Winona, her Altaria was the only problem but Splode dealt with it, Selfdestruct. Received Fly sometime before all of this happened and am currently searching for a flyer.

Latest Update: Caught a Wingull for a flyer, went back to Slateport to rename Magneton, Tesla.

Ehh, this challenge is dying, come on guys keep updating!

I just tried the E4, I got past Sidney (thanks to Sonny's (Solrock) Explosion against his Sharpedo) and Pheobe but got creamed against Glacia, I was doing OK with Maggy (Magcargo) and Nosepass until it came down to her Walrein, which OHKO'd all of my team, gonna train to level 55 and give it another go...

Woohoo!! Finished the challenge! After five hours of vigorous training in the Victory Road and failing three times against the Elite Four, I have finally finished! :)

Trainer Name: Greeny
Badges: 8
Play Time: 31:29

Latest Progress:
Trained in the Victory Road for around 4-5 hours until my Pokemon were all at level 50.
Taught TM Earthquake to Steely.
Got defeated by the Elite Four a few times before thinking up some strategies.
Defeated Sidney, Sharpedo showed no problem when I pulled out Sonny for Explosion.
Defeated Pheobe relatively easy, Steely's Iron Tail took care of most of her pokemon in two / three hits.
Had trouble against Glacia, the Glacie's and Sealeo's were easily taken care of with Maggy's Flamethrower and Nosepass' Thunderbolt but the Walrein was a real pain, Sonny's explosion finished it off in the end if I remember correctly.
Taught TM Ice Beam to Steely.
Defeated Drake. Steely swept out the whole team using Ice Beam.
Taught TM Overheat to Sonny.
Now then, Steven was a challenge, his Steel moves and Earthquake were often a problem but I got around this mainly using Maggy, Steely and Sonny.

FINISHED.

I got back from my trip yesterday and I forgot to update so here's my update. I apologize if it's a little vague. I was in a car for three days. Attended my cousin's wedding and we stayed for like four days over there. Then it was anouther three days stuck in the car. My mind got a little bit muddled here and there so there'll most likely be a lot of blabbery.

After Flannery (who managed to be beaten by the unlikely hero nuzleaf.) I went to the desert and trained nuzleaf and mighteyna (almost forgot sableye lol). I was gonna leave the tower up so I could train later after I caught future pokes and level them up but I took the fossil anyways after I was satisfied with their levels. Uhm....I think next was the player's dad for a battle. Easily beat him. I had little difficulty with him. Slaking was the toughie but Gems rolled through him (You just gotta love ghost types). Afterwards I forgot where to go so I went home to talk to my mama and rest and I recieved a amulet coin. I think I could surf now so I went to mauville and did the little mission for the gym leader dude. then I went to the little surf area and beat up the trainers. Made my way through the weather institute and beat up the Team whatevers (I forgot which ones are the anagonists in this part of emerald) recieved the weather pokemon and deposited the little tyke. rested in the bed and trained. battled may and won tenaciously with Nuzleaf (firered flashback lol). Made my way to the trees town. beat up kekleons. Wind gym leader bullied Nuzleaf. Nuzleaf fainted (After Nuzleaf beat torkoal I was thinking that he was invinsible and could beat up anyone.) Gems miraculously beat one of her skarmories using metronome:Flame Wheel. Went south. made my way to the next town......uhm I think it's the one with the giant store right? Lilycove. uhm....Made my way to the cave and discovered that team aqua went to steal the orb. Went back to Safari zone and got the solarbeam tm. Taught it to Nuzleaf. went to mount pyre. Beat up the Team whatevers and went down to the little patch of land above the berry master's house. I recieved the Giga drain tm but decided not to use it. battled more weak trainers. went to the the magma hideout (thank goodness I use the Acro bike) and ripped through their defenses. Groudon was freed and I beat up Maxie (or is he Archie?). went to the team aqua hideout and savagely ripped them apart. I was all like "RAWR!" and they screamed like little girls and turned red. Like. A. Toe-May-Toe. Anyways I got the masterball and caught both electrodes (Mild and Modest. The Mild one has way better stats so I guess the modest one has bad IVs? Oh well it's just non-important blabbery) Anywho I beat up what-his-face and finally was able to travel to Mossdeep. Obtained the super rod at mossdeep and went back to route 102 to catch a corphish. Corphish evolves. Went to mossdeep again and talked to Steven or whatever his name is. He is looking out for team magma while I rip the twins to shreds. (By this time Nuzleaf has evolved and I used a sunny day/synthesis/solarbeam combo to easily win against Solrock and Lunatone and Even the Psychic bird!) well I went back to help out whats-his-face to beat up the Rockets or the Whoevers. Crawdaunt sailed through them (not litterally He doesn't know surf. He's got Crabhammer.) and then they left. With noone to beat up I also left and made my way to sootopolis. No wait I went to the underwater cave and beat up everyone. Kyogre was awakened and left. I went to awaken Rayquaza and he sent them elsewhere and all was good again. I beat up the water dude. He gave me a hard time with (don't laugh) Luvdisc and Seadra. Double team almost made me lose until he used rest (normally that would break my fighting spirit but...) I sent out CRAWDAUNT! resisting ice beam and the water attacks I totolly had forgot him when I switched him out because of luvdisc. I used Swords Dance three times and he became invinsible (he truly is he's never let me down) One Aerial Ace and it was over! (Aerial Ace is useful against fighting types and it'll never miss............unlike Crabhammer) Well After I did a restricted victory dance (I was strapped to my seat with a horrid invention called the seat belt) I made my way to EverGrande....and I totolly forgot about waterfall. Sigh. After I returned and went to the PC before the Victory Road I trained heavy. Went to heal and to my surprise *Drumroll* I had acquired Pokerus!!!! It was useless to my current pokemon except crawdaunt who gained heavy stats in his training. Went back to Mossdeep and caught a Sharpeedo (I had tried training a Phirana or whatever his pre-evo is called but he was weak so I got Chomp instead) It already had Pokerus so I gave him a macho brace and battled tons of Linoone outside of the weather institute (Not really EV trained just battle Linoone and get faster) Trained lots and lots until Chomp was finally around lvl 50. Went to EverGrande and deposited my mons and withdrew others to spread the Virus while I trained Mightyena (He needs a better movepool. Dumb Lairons keep using roar and dumb Makuhita's evo used whirlwind.) deposited my mons after the virus spread and brought out my team again. Battled lots of trainers in the PokeNav Match Call until no one wanted to battle me. went to Trick Master since I only completed the first challenge and I answered questions, moved through rotating doors, teleported and other assorted traps. Finished all the challenges I could and apparently there is one more since he's working on one as I speak/Write/type.......whatever. Went to EverGrande and beat wally. I need Flash to complete the rest of the journey. Sigh. I hate Victory Road in this game. Actually I hate it period. Saved. And I am done with my Update (with some blabbery here and there). *Sigh of Relief*

Here are my mons
Cross (I'm never happy with names) the Mightyena @ Blackglasses. Lvl 54

Uhm, I'm not sure if Flash! is done yet but.....Congratulations Greeny!

Okay after many attempts I finally beat the elite four. My time is 43:46
My team is
Cross lvl 58 @ Blackglasses
-Dig
-Toxic
-Crunch
-Taunt
Chomp lvl 60 @ Sea Incense
-Blizzard
-Waterfall
-Crunch
-Slash
Gems lvl 56 @ quick claw
-Metronome
-Faint Attack
-Shadow Ball
-Confuse ray
Shiftry lvl 59 @ King's Rock
-Sunny Day
-Solar Beam
-Synthesis
-Extrasensory
Loss lvl 59 @ Lax Incense
-Crabhammer
-Guillotine
-Swords Dance
-Aerial Ace

So here are my highlights,
The ghost girl uses her Sableye so I send out Gems. I use confuse ray and the foe hurts themself. I use Faint Attack and he hurts hisself again. I finish of with a metronome and it turns into Earthquake!
Then Glacia or whatever her name is. Her team used Hail and I couldn't switch out to Shiftry unless I wanted to be Blizzarded so my mons had to endure it. Finally I got a lucky break and got a critical hit from Cross's Crunch. I toxicated her second Sealeo and Beat the second one pretty easy. Until her last two pokemon. They gave me trouble. Lots of it. Ice beam abusers! Toxic and Gems's Faint Attack finished the first Sealeo off. The second one I beat using the last PP of Loss's Guillotine. Her last Glalie I was left with only shiftry and a larger amount of HP. But he has the advantage because of Super Effectiveness. I use Extrasensory twice and he flinches once. It's got pretty low HP so I'm assuming that she's gonna use a Potion. I use one for me, and she doesn't! One more Extrasensory and I beat her.
Drake the pirate dude. well according to Bulbapedia he's just a captain but he looks like a pirate to me. So he sends out his Kingdra and I'm like crap. But Loss uses one swords dance, she uses surf. I use SD again and she uses smokescreen. Aerial Ace twice and she's gone. Chomp's Blizzard beat mostly all the other dragons.
Wallace the Champion of Hoenn. I started of with Shiftry and Sunny Day/ Solar Beam his team to death. Anyone up for fried Milotic? One Blizzard, Cruch and Slash from Chomp were used to beat Gyarados. Not that I was worried...... Okay I was, but his Surf does WAY too much damage!

So that's it. I'm going to try and clone my masterball so I can SR for a Modest Groudon.

I'll do Fighting in Ruby, i need some non-generation 4 challenge xD

Update; Started with Torchic, caught 3 Zigzagoons for Pickup, a Shroomish and a Slakoth (this took me some time, when i finally had caught a Shroomish i just took it, even though the nature isn't really good) which i traded for a Makuhita in Rustboro. Beat Roxanne, beat Brawly, currently Mauville.

i'll do ghost in sapphire.

i'm pretty sure it's impossible though.

EDIT:

ok, somehow i managed to train a nincada to level 20, and then it evolved into both ninjask and shedinja.
and because of shedinja's 1 hp and stupid ability, i am unable to defeat roxanne.
therefore, if it's ok with everyone here, i'm going to use combusken to defeat roxanne.
thank you.

Beat Steven. The Elite 4 was quite easy.

Sidney: Swept him with Hariyama, without even setting up
Phoebe: Flamethrowered her to death with Blaziken, only the second Dusclops was annoying
Glacia: On the first attempt, everything went wrong. Glalie is faster and uses Hail, Hariyama uses Bulk Up. Glalie uses Ice Beam, crit, freeze. Hariyama wasn't defrosted in the next turns, so it fainted. Blaziken KOd Glalie and the Sealeos, but failed to beat Hariyama and got OHKOd by Surf. Next attempt was easy, without the freeze Hax, Hariyama swept her.
Drake: First i beat Shelgon with Blaziken, then switched to Hariyama, set up on Flygon and swept, a paralysis from Dragonbreath even came in handy since Hariyama' ability is Guts.
Steven: OHKOd Skarm with Flamethrower, set up on Aggron and swept his team with Hariyama.

Final Team:
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/5/56/Spr_3r_257.png
Avian Flu / Blaziken Lv.60 m @ Lax Incense
Naughty Nature / Blaze
~ Aerial Ace
~ Bulk Up
~ Sky Uppercut
~ Flamethrower
I mainly used it for anything Hariyama couldn't handle, like Golbats or stuff that is weak to Fire. But it still got pretty high, mainly thanks to the tons of Rare Candys my 4 Pickup slaves (later on they were 3, i needed a Tentacool to dive and Waterfall)
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/e/e9/Spr_3r_297.png
Makit / Hariyama Lv.69 m @ Shell Bell
Hardy Nature / Guts
~ Return
~ Brick Break
~ Bulk Up
~ Earthquake
Hariyama gained Exp insanely fast due to being traded so in the end its level was far above Blaziken's. I played it as a bulky set-up sweeper, it did the job very well, except for when Glacia's Glalie got the freeze hax and i was too stupid to use a Full Restore

Bring it on! I'll try a Dark Challenge for my Emerald Version.

After doing all the pointless stuff (taking Treecko, saving Birch, beating May, gaining Pokedex etc.) I decided to capture a young Poochyena. The dumb mutt didn't see it coming.

After that, me and my Poochyena, named Shadow, headed towards Petalburg City, owning every noob who thought they could beat me! In Petalburg, me and my awesome dad help some noob named Wally catch a weak Ralts.

Soon, he told me of a weaker Gym Leader for me to tear apart called Roxanne so off I went, laughing at the weaklings who cried while Shadow owned them.

random.org told me to do a monotype challenge in hoenn with dragons (<-- takes this stuff too seriously ¬¬)
(seriously, coin flipper bush was hoenn, kerry was kanto, and i got number 16 in integer generator following gym type order (rock->water->electric->...->ice->dragon)

so i hope you don't mind me gamesharking a dratini as my starter :D

i'll use an emerald emulator (since i don't have my gba anyways)

actually, i take that back (since you don't want hacks), so i'm gonna do a grass monotype!

Would it be possible for me to continue a run I'd started a very long time ago here? I can (and will) have a full list of spoilers put here to show my progress to my current point from when I started. Then, I can just continue and post updates here regularly until I'm done, which'll hopefully be the day I started it a year ago. Wouldn't that be cool? o;

The guy who started this thread hasn't been online for over a month, so, I don't think he will answer your question.

So, more or less, I can just get started right away? O.o Can't see why not.

All right, then, let's get started (The spoilers below contain my previous actions from the beginning all the way to where I'm at now).

Rules
-This is NOT a race.
-All duel types are allowed. EX-Breloom is Grass/Fighting.
-No spamming
-No flameing
-No hacking
-No cheating
-No gamesharks
-Even if the type you want is taken you may still use that type so long as that no more than three people are doing it.
-If you want to do a Dragon or Ice monotype you have to either trade a Dragon or Ice type over from another game or not do that type, considering those to types take a while to find.
-You may use your starter up until you get a Pokemon of your type.
-If your starter is your type then you may use it.
-The challenge is over when you beat the Elite Four for the second time.
-Now anyone can join anytime you want even if all types are picked.
- You can catch Pokemon that is not of your type (like legendarys) but you can't use them until you finish the challlenge.

If I think of more rules I'll post them. Please try to update as much as possible.

*** These are the rules I'll be following from the old thread ***

===December 14th, 2008, 10:00 PM===

So, on this day, I began my wonderous journey of poisonous glory. My Poison-Type Monotype Challenge has begun!

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/7769/poisonrsky5.png
----------------------

- Began my adventure (Character info - Gender: Male, Name: Lee).
- Arrived at my new home and set my newly given clock.
- Visited my neighbors, meeting May.
- Saved Professor Birch with Treecko, my starter pokemon.
- Made my way to May and defeated her, returning to the lab in the process.
- Obtained a Pokedex and 5 Pokeballs.
- Caught my Zigzagoon litter (3 of them).
- Battling only the absolutely necessary trainers, I made my way to Petalburg City.
- Helped Wally catch his Ralts.
- Once again avoiding as many trainers as possible, I made my way through Petalburg Forest and on to Rustboro City.
- Challenged the Rustboro City Gym, winning over Roxanne quite easily with Treecko and obtaining the Stone Badge.
- Also avoided trainer battles whilst traveling through to Rusturf Tunnel.
- Saved Mr. Briney's Peeko and saved the Devon Goods.
- Returned the Devon Goods, met the Devon President, and obtained a Pokenav, along with a letter to Steven.
- Mr. Briney carried me to Dewford Town.
- Obtained the Old Rod and caught my first team pokemon: Tentacool.
- Slid past the two fishermen outside of Granite Cave, making my way into said cave.
- Finally caught my second team pokemon inside Granite Cave: Zubat.
- Ventured back to Petalburg, where I trained my Tentacool and Zubat on the trainers I'd skipped over previously.
- Defeated all the trainers from Oldale Town to Rustboro City, not including the route outside Rusturf Tunnel.

Currently: Training my Zubat and Tentacool, keeping tabs on the EVs gained so I can identify the Hidden Power type and power later on.

Sorry for not updating in a little while guys, I've been a little busy, and I've been a little less motivated to get this thing done. @_@

---------- Update ----------

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/7769/poisonrsky5.png
----------------------

- Completed the New Mauville miniquest.
- Ventured east of Mauville, meeting up with Steven again.
- Caught my favorite HM slave: Tropius.
- Stopped by the Berry Master's house and got a butt-ton of berries.
- Started on my way toward the Weather Institute.
- After some unusually rough battles (Poor luck on my side, super luck on their's), I ran Team Aqua out of the W.I.
- Met up with May and easily defeated her team.
- Made it to Fortree City.
- Fixed up my team and prepared my HM slaves.
- Moved on ahead, training just a bit before meeting up with Steven once again.
- Went back, surfed a little, and got the Leaf Stone, which scored me an evolution of my Gloom into Vileplume.
- Challenged the Fortree City Gym, having few problems except with the I'm-always-a-problematic-cheapshot Altaria (Supersonic FTW); I scored a victory over Winona and claimed the Feather Badge.
- Flew back to Dewford Town, where I surfed toward the Sunken Ship, defeating trainers along the way.
- Made it to the Sunken Ship, where, after a few battles and some maneuvering (spelling? >.<), managed to gain a very important TM: 13, Ice Beam.
- Escaped from the ship and flew back to Fortree, where I continued onward toward Lilycove City.
- Arrived in Lilycove City after a seemingly never-ending trek.
- Went back and visited the Safari Zone to obtain the Solarbeam TM, which I eventually got after $1000. T_T
- Made Omnivile a force to be reckoned with.
- Surfed onto Mt. Pyre's shore, entering and climbing my way up, training along the way.
- Eventually went outside Mt. Pyre, climbing the outside only to find Team Aqua atop; I defeated them and obtained the Blue Orb.
- Trained on top of Mt. Pyre for a little while.
- Made my way back to Lilycove, where I fought my final battle with May.

Currently: Shopping and training up for Team Aqua's base in Lilycove.

And this leads us to today. Man, it's been awhile... Time to dust off my updating skills. ;D Here goes:

---------- Update ----------

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/7769/poisonrsky5.png
----------------------

- Shopped for some useful items in the Lilycove Department Store.
- Sold some items, like Nuggets, while I was at it.
- Made my way through the city to the beach, whereupon I started toward the Team Aqua base.
- Barged my way into the base, only to find it empty save two grunts that told me their boss was elsewhere.
- Flew to Slateport and found Captain Stern being interviewed.
- After the interview, heard and found Team Aqua stealing Stern's submarine.
- Flew back to Lilycove and reentered Aqua's base.
- Laughed at Aqua's poorly trained pokemon as I worked my way deeper inside the base.
- Found several items along the way, most notably the Master Ball.
- After some teleporter mind-rapes, I stumbled upon the submarine, but it was being guarded by an Aqua Admin.
- Omnivile made short work of the admin, but he stalled just enough time for the submarine to get away.
- After visiting the Pokecenter and doing some last minute shopping, I left out for Mossdeep.
- After a couple trainer battles and wild encounters, landed on Mossdeep's shores.
- Healed my party up and explored the city, meeting up with Steven again, among other things (such as obtaining the Super Rod).
- Shivered at the thought of taking on the gym; decided training up a bit would be my best bet.
- Trained via the trainers between Mossdeep City and Pacifidlog Town (some, not all).
- Challenged the Mossdeep City Gym; I overcame the duo of Tate & Liza (They hit Omnivile hard before he could set up, but Nayru and Kurabatto made it out perfectly) and obtained the Mind Badge.

Currently: Prepared to dive my way into Sootopolis.

All right, so I made some more progress tonight. I'm making so much progress, in fact, that I'd finish tomorrow, even if I took my time. So, what I'm going to do is after this update, I'm actually going to go ahead and start a new monotype run for R/S/E to keep me occupied while I wait. "Wait for what?" you may be asking. Well, I started my Poison-Type run on December 14th of last year. For some undefinable reason, I really, really want to finish it the day I started it, but a year later. That means I could possibly finish the other run before I finish this one. o.o Hmm...

Anyway, yeah, it's weird, but... wouldn't it be kinda cool to say that it took me a year to finish this run exactly? Hehe... anyway, on with the update:

---------- Update ----------

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/7769/poisonrsky5.png
----------------------

- Dove down into the waters surrounding Sootopolis, making my way inside.
- After rising from the deep waters and visiting the pokecenter, I realized that I had to go find the submarine Team Aqua had stolen BEFORE I come to Sootopolis. D'oh.
- After the amazement of my rustiness, I dove around the waters of Hoenn and came across a hole, of which I entered.
- Found the missing submarine, which attracted me to arise to the top and enter the cave above.
- Battled my way through the cave, taking on simple Aqua grunts and boggling Stregth boulder puzzles (I got all of them right the first try this time! Woo, go me!)
- Crept deeper into the cave, eventually happening upon the resting Kyogre.
- As I began to look over Kyogre, I was attacked by Archie, Team Aqua's leader.
- After a suprisingly difficult battle, I defeated Archie.
- Witnessed Kyogre awaken from his slumber via the Red Orb that Archie had.
- After Archie and Maxie argued outside in the downpour, Steven came and explained the situation.
- I THEN made my way to Sootopolis City.
- Found Steven discussing matters with Wallace, the gym leader of the city.
- Got dragged to the Cave of Origins and entered said cave.
- Descended down the cave until I reached the bottom floor, the resting place of Kyogre.
- Caught Kyogre with the Master Ball (I would've normally caught him with an Ultra Ball, but I don't plan on catching Rayquaza).
- Ventured outside the cave to see the world returned to normal.
- Healed up and prepared to challenge the gym.
- Challenged the Sootopolis City Gym, sailing smoothly all until Wallace's Milotic gave me difficulty; Regardless, I defeated Wallace and obtained the Rain Badge.
- Taught my water-travel HM slave Waterfall and surfed over to Ever Grande City.
- Climbed the waterfall and found refuge at the pokecenter nearby.

Currently: About to venture into the final stretch, Victory Road.

In response to this, I could become your rival and do Flying-Type as well, but I'm not going to. ;D I don't know what I'm going to do while I wait for December 14th. Play Diamond, since I still haven't beaten it or any other 4th generation game yet because I'm a loser? Hmm...

It's between Fire, Electric, Psychic, and Steel. I'll edit this post once I decide. 8D

EDIT: I'm going to start a Steel-Type Monotype Challenge run while I wait for December 14th. ;D

... And with that, my Steel-Type Monotype Challenge has begun!

- Selected TREEKO as my starter, saving Prof. Birch.
- Found May north of Oldale Town, challenged her, and defeated her.
- Went back to Birch's lab, where I was given my pokedex and some pokeballs.
- Caught 3 Zigzagoons, my Pick Up slaves.
- Weaved my way through trainers to get to Petalburg City.
- Helped Wally catch a Ralts by request of my dad.
- Progressed into the Petalburg Woods, protecting the Devon Researcher from a Team Aqua grunt.
- Continued on and made my way to Rustboro City.
- Challenged the Rustboro City Gym, breezing through with Treeko; I defeated Roxanne and obtained the Stone Badge.
- Save Peeko for Mr. Briney, reclaiming the Devon Goods at the same time.
- Talked with the Devon President, obtaining a letter to Steven and a Pokenav.
- Set out for Dewford Town via sea travel, thanks to Mr. Briney.
- After checking my supplies and weaving around some trainers, I made it into the Granite Cave.
- Went to the second floor and found my first team pokemon: Aron.
- Trained a ton, venturing back and fighting all trainers I'd avoided before.

Currently: overlevelingTraining my Aron to prepare him for the Dewford Gym.

Hey Lee What Game are you playing? If your on ruby you can get a Mawile.....If not your gonna have to be using just Aron for a long time (Till Magnimite I suppose)

Actually, I originally intended to get a Mawile. I decided against it in the end, though, so I can focus more on the three I'm going to have: Aggron, Skarmory, and Magneton. The other three slots will be for my two HM slaves and one Pick-Up slave.

I'm playing on Sapphire anyway, so... yeah. x-x So, it's two-fold.

EDIT: I'm going to add this to a more formal update, but I wanted to get it down before I forgot. Wattson was mean. T_T his Magnemite alone gave me some trouble, Voltorb was okay, but Magneton... I usedsavestatesacoupletimesgot super lucky sometimes and after I lowered his defense with RX's newly learned Iron Tail, I had to do something like Iron Tail > Soda Pop > Soda Pop > Repeat. Took forever, even with light-speed speed ups. T_T

I admit to using speed-ups, but man... repetition kills me, so if I know how something's going to go, I just speed through it, except for most gym leader battles and the Elite Four. Oh, and Team Magma/Aqua leader battles. Basically any important battle. D; Regardless, I know, shame on me... *sniffle hick*

---------- Update ----------

http://img361.imageshack.us/img361/6940/steelrsvr4.png
----------------------

- Decided to skip over Dewford Town Gym for now.
- Trained up a bit around Slateport, beating the trainers north of the city.
- Did the Trick Master's house #1.
- Found May, battled with her, and won (Combusken... you're... EVIL).
- Continued onward to Mauville City.
- Defeated Wally and sent him packing to Verdanturf.
- Defeated all the trainers lining the route west of Mauville, turning back once I got the Blackglasses from the Rusturf Tunnel.
- Reluctantly challenged the Mauville City Gym, coming out the victor in an edge-of-your-seat battle; I defeated Wattson and claimed the Dynamo Badge.
- Went back to Verdanturf Town, into Rusturf Tunnel, and smashed the rocks blocking the way to Rustboro City.
- Tried my hardest to avoid as many trainers as I could on my way to route 113, home of the steel-clad flyer.
- After many runs through the ash-blanketed grass, I captured my second team pokemon (finally!): Skarmory.
- Did LOADS of backtracking, defeating as many trainers as possible that I missed with my new addition to the team.
- Continued onward to Fallabor Town.
- Made my way to Meteor Falls, where I encountered Team Aqua harassing Prof. Cozmo.
- Via rail car, made it to the top of Mt. Chimney.
- Saved the volcano by defeating Team Aqua leader Archie.
- Climbed down the mountain and rested at Lavaridge Town.

Currently: Preparing my two pokemon for the Lavaridge Town Gym after I backtrack to Dewford and take care of Brawly.

I'd definitely get Dustox right at about 24 or so, but that's just for fallback. Your best bet: Evolve Nincada and follow the steps to get a Shedinja. You don't even have to use Shedinja the whole game, but for this fight, I HIGHLY advise you do that. Shedinja's types are Bug and Ghost, meaning Wattson's Magneton can't hurt you with Sonic Boom or Shock Wave. I believe (can't remember... dang you, short-term memory loss) his other moves are Supersonic (this is one for sure) and Screech (not so sure). Regardless, Shedinja's your best bet, and if, for any reason he fails to get rid of Magneton however he can, you can count on Dustox to clean things up.

If you skimmed over that, which I honestly probably would, this is a summary of what I just said: Get Dustox to 24 (he'll learn Psybeam) and evolve Nincada, making sure to have a free Pokeball and free party slot when he evolves to get Shedinja. You don't have to do anything special to Shedinja. Also, level Ninjask to 25 and get Swords Dance. In my opinion, at 25, his moveset should be: Sand-Attack, Fury Cutter, Screech (important), Swords Dance (important).

For his Voltorb, use Dustox and abuse Psybeam. Magnemite and Magneton, switch in Shedinja and use Sand-Attack until their accuracy can't go any lower. Then, bring in Dustox and Psybeam away. If that doesn't work, you can risk pulling Ninjask in and setting up two Swords Dances and two to three Screeches, then Fury Cutter them until the K.O.

Hope that helped. :3

i'm pretty sure magneton has supersonic and thunder wave in addition to sonicboom and shock wave, so i don't know if shedinja would be a good idea. magneton would likely be faster than shedinja, so if it gets a thunder wave off, and then confuses it, it's over. i would concentrate on dustox because of its special defense and typing; it wouldn't be hit that hard by shock waves. then again, nincada learns dig at level 45...

anyway, my update:
-beat brawly with ease.
-evolved both members of my team by the time i got to slateport.
-lost to wattson a couple times. or many times, i lost count.
-while EV training DumbBeach, i came across a surskit, so i caught it.
-put it in the daycare so i didn't have to do as much work, took it out at level 22.
-trained it to level 25 to learn bubblebeam and evolved it.
-trained it up to level 30 before taking on wattson again.
-somehow managed to beat the old man.
-caught a skarmory, decided against using it.

It went like this

Ninjask used Screech

Magnimite used Thundershock (30% HP Left)
Beautifly used Stun Spore
Magnimite used Thunder Wave
Beautifly used Absorb
Magnimite cant move
Beautifly used absorb
Magnimite use Thunder Shock

Beautifly K.Oed

Go Shedninja
Shedninja Used Fury Cutter a bunch of times till magnimite died (I got lucky with Supersonic)

Voltorb vs Shedninja

Voltorb used Rollout (.....Dang it)

Go Dustox
Protected it then Confustion spamed

Magneton vs Illumise

Illumise PP Stalled its Supersonic

Then revived Shednija

Shednija Screeched then Fury Cutter

Hey, nice goin'! Nice use of Fury Cutter. I wonder how you're going to handle Lavaridge... ;D

Anyway, here's an update~:

---------- Update ----------

----------------------

- Did a little bit of last-minute training before heading in the gym.
- Challenged the Lavaridge Town Gym; I defeated Flannery (Overheat baiting ftw) and obtained the Heat Badge.
- Met up with May outside the gym and was given the Go-Goggles.
- Backtracked all the way back to Dewford Town.
- Challenged the Dewford Town Gym; I defeated Brawly (that's an understatement) and claimed the Knuckle Badge.
- Continue to backtrack until I landed in Petalburg City.
- Challenged the Petalburg City Gym, easily breezing through the opposition; I defeated Norman and obtained the Balance Badge.
- Talked to Wally's dad and received HM 03, the ever-important Surf.
- Made my way to Mauville.
- Talked with Wattson and accepted the quest of turning the generator off in New Mauville.
- Surfed over to New Mauville and opened the locked door.
- Descended down into the basement, where I found and captured my final team pokemon: Magnemite.

Currently: Making my way through New Mauville to turn off the generator deep inside.

mmmm, another update. awesome.

-foiled some plans team aqua had involving a meteorite and a volcano.
-beat that fire gym leader
-then i beat norman with the worst strategy that ever happened. i got rid of protect on DumbBeach right before the match which was really stupid. so then i decided stockpiling and swallowing was the best thing to do, which it wasn't, because i got owned. and Skittles doesn't have very good defenses, so that ended quickly. Swallows had to beat vigoroth and the last slaking. it did, but now all my soda pops are gone :(
-saved the weather institute.
-beat winona with DumbBeach and his ice beam and surf.
-made my way to lilycove
-caught a doduo and natu in the safari zone, but i only ended up catching 3 natus, all of which had less than desirable natures. and then i found out xatu doesn't learn psychic until level 65 AND it doesn't learn anything very good from TMs. instead, i took the loneliest doduo and trained it to a dodrio.

In my opinion, your most used pokemon are probably going to be Ninjask and Shedinja, and when you get him, Armaldo. If only you could get your hands on Anorith BEFORE Flannery, she wouldn't be a problem, but... T_T I feel your pain...

(The first part of the "paragraph" above was... random, to say the least.)

Your best bet is to level like no tomorrow and gain blatently obvious level advantage. ._. The obvious answer, I know, but... T_T

Sorry for the late reply, I'm looking into competitive battling. o:

You're going a little slower than me and syphilis, but that's okay, your run's considerably harder. I mean, every gym so far has been anti-bug. X_X or anti-flying, which several of your pokemon are, so it's hardly your fault. Heck, even Maxie's anti-you. You can't catch a break. T_T I suppose you finally will against Norman and against Tate & Liza, but still...

I woke up today and started thinking, "If I finished the Steel-Type run soon, possibly even today (not impossible), Should I do another run while I wait? Or find something else to do? Hmm..."

On the note of my Steel-Type run, I've been thinking lately of my end-game team. Originally, it was going to be just the three I have now, Aggron, Skarmory, and Magneton. But, now I'm pondering my decision. Aggron has the ability to have amazing type coverage with such a HUGE pool of available TMs he can learn. Thus, to avoid running into type problems, maybe I should get a second Aggron... What do you guys think?

chaos11011
December 6th, 2009, 08:08 AM
Another Aggron will be a huge help, but with its Low SP.Atk and Hard Experience Curve it may to much of a burden. But I say go for it.

May I suddgest the move set?

Dragon Claw
Surf
Flamethrower
Metal Claw/EQ/SolarBeam

The 2nd aggron should have lots of Coverage, despite his low Sp.Attack

Edit:I beat maxie with a Swords Dance Sweep :D My Team is the same but at Lvl 27,with the exeption of Illumise at Lvl 26

It will. The best thing to do, though, is honestly sacrifice one of your pokemon against Torkoal and make him waste away his Special Attack with Overheat. Then, once he's too weak to pose any real threat, sweep with Ninjask. o:

- Returned to Wattson and was given the Thunderbolt TM.
- Surfed across the small patch of water east of Mauville.
- Met up with Steven again.
- Trained a bit in the area.
- Visited the Berry Master's house, receiving a butt-ton of berries.
- Continued north until I reached the Weather Institute.
- Ran Team Aqua out of the WI, receiving a Castform for my efforts.
- Encountered May again, defeating her in a battle.
- Caught my #1 HM slave: Tropius.
- Caught my #2 HM slave: Gyarados. (Magikarp, but I leveled it once to evolve it)

Currently: Fixing my team and preparing for the Fortree City Gym.

Nice update. I'm slowing down on mine so I don't finish too quickly. D; Lol.

I'll post an update soon, though. Probably not tonight, but soon nonetheless.

I have a little update, but too small of one to really make a full one. I'll update this later with more I've done. Anyway, here's a small update:

---------- Update ----------

http://img361.imageshack.us/img361/6940/steelrsvr4.png
----------------------

- Fixed up my HM slaves and rearranged my party (namely ditching my final Pick Up slave).
- Met Steven outside of Fortree City, spoke with him, and obtained the Devon Scope.
- Did a little bit of training outside Fortree.
- Challenged the Fortree City Gym, having no problems, even with Altaria (shocker, I know); I scored a victory over Winona and claimed the Feather Badge.
- Stocked up on a few things and left out for Lilycove City.
- Fought my way through routes 120 and 121.
- Made it to Lilycove, hunkering down in the pokecenter.

Currently: Doing a bit of last minute training for May, even though I know I don't need it.

[[Will post team when I make the full update sometime tomorrow]]

EDIT: Slightly updated.

Cool. 8D I'm training there, too, on my way to Lilycove, as you know.

Hoping I'll have two Aggrons before Tate&Liza.

EDIT: Edited my post above this one a little bit more. Still nothing worthy of reposting my team. Hopefully, I'll have Tate & Liza done tomorrow.

Just Obtained the Dynamo Badge! :D
Now, from where I left off:

I got the PokéNav after talking to the Devon Corp. President, who gave me a letter to deliver to his son Steven
I got the HM Cut, and caught a Zigzagoon as an HM/Pickup Slave
Went back down to Route 104 and got Mr. Briney to give me a ride to Dewford Town
I beat the two trainer in the whole island, and made my way across Granite Cave without Flash (since you don't even need it)
Gave the letter to Steven and obtained the TM Steel Wing! (that I won't use)

Not satified with my Pokémons' low levels, I headed to Slateport City, beating every trainer available before the rival battle
I concentrated on making Cono (my Seedot), reach level 21 to learn Synthesis

Went back to Dewford, and beat Brawly thanks to Zina mostly
Went back to Slateport and decided to change Zina's nickname to Cana
Then I caught a female Oddish and called her Cali
I trained Cali until she knew Sleep Powder and headed to the rival battle
Combusken was a ***** to beat, but I finally downed him through stalling with a combination of PoisonPowder, Leech Seed, and Cono's Synthesis
The rest up to Mauville was easy, I beat Wally with Cana
Beat every trainer to the east, south, and west (not north) of Mauville City
Then I headed into the gym after evolving Cana and Cali, and beat all of the Gym trainers rather easily with them
My battle with Wattson went like this:

VS Wattson
- Cana vs Voltorb
oVoltorb used Spark, took about 1/4 of Cana’s life
oCana used Headbutt, left Voltorb on red
oWattson used a Super Potion
oCana used Headbutt again for same result
oVoltorb Selfdestructed, leaving Cana with about 1/3 health
- Cali vs Electrike
oElectrike used Howl, increased Attack
oCali used Sleep Powder, sending Electrike to sleep
- Cana vs Electrike
oCana used Leech Seed
oElectrike woke up and Howled again
oElectrike used Quick Attack, and took half of the life Cana had
oCana used Mega Drain, and with Leech Seed recovered the lost health
oCana used Mega Drain again to end the match with about a little more than ½ health left
- Cana vs Magneton
oCana used Mach Punch, and took about ¾ of Magneton’s health
oMagneton paralyzed her with Thunder Wave
oCana used… Parahax!!! T_T
oMagneton used Sonicboom and left Cana with 18 HP
oI’m stupid and tried to use Mach Punch again, but got Parahaxed!!! ToT
- Cono vs Magneton
oMagneton used Sonicboom
oCono used Bide
oMagneton used Shockwave twice and left Cono with 7HP left,
oCono RAPED by unleashing energy
- Cali vs Manectric
oManectric used Quick Attack… (weak)
oCali used PoisonPowder :D!
oManectric used Howl (???)
oCali used Absorb (since Absorb is weak, I need to switch though)
- Wana vs Manectric
oManectric used two strong Quick Attacks in a row and left me with 14HP
oWana Absorbed energy and went up to 19HP
oManectric’s Sitrus Berry restored health
oI gave a Super Potion to Wana to go full health
oManectric used Quick Attack twice again and left me with 13HP
oWana used Absorb and went to 18HP
oI used a Soda Pop on Wana
oWattson used a Super Potion on Manectric
oManectric used Quick Attack
oWana used Quick Attack
oManectric used Quick Attack
oWana used Quick Attack… and got Paralyzed -_-
oGave a Soda Pop to Cono
oManectric killed Wana with Quick Attack
- Cono vs Manectric
oManectric used Shockwave
oCono used Nature Power --> Swift
oAnd the Poison finally killed that damn thing (yay for stalling :D)

Then I went to Verdanturf Town, and used Rock Smash on the rocks in Rusturf Tunnel, and obtained HM04 Strength, as well as the BlackGlasses that I gave to Cono.

Currently, the plan is to head north to Fallarbor Town and continue on the storyline

Hey hey, nice update. ;3 Glad to know you're still in with it. Looking forward to the next one, I really like the way you update (I know that sounded odd, but I mean with using the banner like I do (you're welcome, by the way, assuming you found it the way I think you did) and green text and in-depth coverage of big battles, which I read and enjoyed). Keep at it. :3

Anyway, I'm off to play some myself. ^_^

ha ha, it's good that you liked it. :P

I'm really not-too-happy with the way the battle looks since it seems kinda confusing after reading it right now, but it's because i typed it out in word first, and then copied-and-pasted. so rest assured that next battle against flannery won't be as hard to follow. :D

and about the banner, if you think i searched through 15 pages of the GBA thread in order to find it in one of the many, many monotype challenges there are because i got jealous of you...
you're ABSOLUTELY correct! xD

XDDD Hehe, I thought so. Ru-kun's monotype challenge thread... sdfs made the banners, but for some reason, I can't find the ground or ice one, even though I KNOW they were made. There's even spaces where they should be on that post.

- After falling down through the floors, I continued to the outside of the mountain.
- Cleared Team Aqua from the top and received the Blue Orb.
- Flew to Slateport and witnessed Aqua stealing Captain Stern's submarine.
- Flew back to Lilycove and swept Team Aqua out of their base.
- Surfed my way through trainers and seemingly endless wild battle until I landed at Mossdeep.
- Defeated as many trainers as I could along the water routes with PinoAB7.

last time, i had barely finished the storyline up until Verdanturf Town, so this time:

i beat the trainers on Route 111, as well as the Winstrate Family (this was easier than before so I guess I'm doing something good
went up to Fallarbor Town and to Meteor Falls, not sparing a single opponent (i'm a training maniac, and i hate battling wild pokes, or going out of my way for something :D)
figured out that there's something going on over at Mt. Chimney
stopped Team Magma from accomplishing their evil plans by beating the snot out of Maxie
reached Lavaridge Town were I was prepared to face my greatest threat yet... Flannery
beat all of the Gym trainers easily using only Cana (who at this point was my strongest)
and finally went up against Flannery in a battle that went like this:
VS Flannery

Cali vs Numel
Cali used Sleep Powder
Cana vs Numel
Cana used two Mach Punches
Numel fainted! :)

Cali vs Torkoal
Cali used Sleep Powder
Cana used Mach Punch and Headbutt
Flannery used Hyper Potion
Cana used Mach Punch and Headbutt again
Camerupt woke up (oh ****!)
Camerupt flinched (yay!)
Cana used Mach Punch
Camerupt fainted! :)

Cali vs Slugma
Cali used Sleep Powder

Cana vs Slugma
Slugma woke up and used Overheat (****!)
Cana fainted! :(

Cali vs Slugma
Cali used Sleep Powder
Cali used Acid twice
Flannery used Hyper Potion
Cali used Acid twice again
Slugma fainted! :D

Cali vs Torkoal
Cali used Sleep Powder… again xD
Cali used Acid
Torkoal woke up and used Overheat (****, not again! Dx)
Cali fainted! :(

Cono vs Torkoal
Cono used Torment
Torkoal used Overheat (****!)
Cono fainted! :(

Wana vs Torkoal
Wana used Screech (attack missed… how the **** do you accomplish that!?)
Torkoal used Sunny Day
Wana used Absorb (I freaked out :()
Torkoal used Overheat
Wana fainted! x(

Zigzagoon vs Torkoal
Sent Zigzagoon out to use Revive on Cali :D
Torkoal used Attract (xD)
Zigzagoon used Growl
Torkoal used Overheat
Zigzagoon fainted! :|

Cali vs Torkoal
Cali used PoisonPowder
Torkoal used Body Slam
I used a Soda Pop on Cali
Torkoal used Overheat (but Torkoal lost a lot of Sp. Attack so I’m good!)
Cali used Acid
Torkoal used Body Slam
I used another Soda Pop
Torkoal used Overheat
Cali used Acid
Torkoal used Body Slam
Cali used Acid
Torkoal fainted! :D
after beating Flannery, I headed back to Petalburg where my epic encounter against my dad would take place
although I forgot record my battle against Norman, it went something like this:
Norman used Spinda first whereas I led with Cana
Spinda frustrated me with Teeter Dance confusion,
in the end I switched out for Cali who poisoned the thing,
then I just abused Synthesis from Cono and Nature Power for the kill
Norman the took out the big guns, Slaking (tum, tum, tum)
Switched in Cana, and went with Leech Seed first
Then I just Mach Punched whenever I knew Slaking wouldn’t pay attention, and used Leech Seed to avoid the Counters
After this, Norman sent out Vigoroth (who was by far a greater threat), and due to stupidity on my part killed both Cali, Cana, and Cono
Wana was the one to put an end to the madness, and he destroyed Norman’s last Pokémon, Linoone.
and thus, i obtained both the Heat Badge and the Balance Badge

Badges Obtained:

you could always teach ice beam to your lombre and...hope for the best...

This is pretty good advice, even if it doesn't prove to be the most useful move for Winona. It'll help a lot against Drake in the E4. :3

actually, since lileep doesn't learn a rock move until level 43 (or 48 if it's a cradily), ice beam might be the best choice :\ and i think there's a water stone in the same place where the ice beam TM is, so...

Yeah. Just get Ice Beam and the best of luck. o:

About time for me to update. Better get to work... Plus, the 14th isn't too far away, so I'll be finishing my Poison-Type run soon, too. ;D

All that aside, update time:

---------- Update ----------

- Challenged the Mossdeep City Gym, coming out quite nicely; I defeated Tate & Liza and obtained the Mind Badge.
- Returned the Meteorite to Prof. Cozmo.
- Did a few other errands, like obtaining Charcoal and Super Rod.
- Returned to the Trick Master's house, completing as many of his challenges as possible.
- Reequipped my team with better items.
- Dove around until I found a cavern wherein lied Capt. Stern's submarine.
- Resurfaced and made my way through the cavern, besting many puzzles.
- Found the legendary Kyogre, still in slumber.
- Fought Archie and defeated him.
- The Red Orb Archie had awoke Kyogre and made Kyogre escape the cavern.
- Returned outside to see Hoenn harassed by heavy rainfall.
- Dove my way into Sootopolis City after collecting some goodies underwater.
- Met up with Steven and Wallace, whom of which led me to the Cave of Origin.

Currently: Making my way through the fabled Cave of Origin.

you get the key from the room where the scientist is, and the locked door is on the floor below that room. inside that room, there's the fabled TM 13 containing ice beam.

the water stone on the other hand, i'm not so sure.

you could always teach ice beam to your lombre and...hope for the best...

well, i just realized that lileep doesn't learn anything good, so i guess i can scratch THAT off... :(

well, this is what happens when you don't pay attention to your type advantages xD

but i'll try what you said... thanks syphilis :) (and everyone else :))

Lol, that was the type I was going to use after Steel and Poison are done. xD Technically we could both do it, but bah, it's cooler when you're the only one doing that type. :3 Hard to explain, but I'm sure you know what I mean.

After Steel and Poison... I don't know what I'm gonna do. o:

Wow. Epic Update of Doom. X_X Guess I don't have to worry about Psychics since you'll be done in no time and I'll be able to do them next. I could just do some other type and come back to Psychics another time... This is what'll most likely happen.

Anyway, I've been slacking on playing, and I'm so close to being done, I want to finish before tomorrow. This way, I'll be done with Steel-Types today and finally finish Poison-Types tomorrow. Also, this will let me do as I wished and finish the Poison-Type run exactly one year after I started it.

Anyway, guys, I'm horribly sick right now, but I'll see if I can persevere and finish today.

EDIT: Okay, so I'm better now. I meant to post the final update for both my Poison-Type and Steel-Type runs on the 14th, like I'd hoped, but... Last week, the week the 14th was on, was the final week of school for the fall semester for me, so, of course, I had finals to prepare for. Thanks to unecessary sickness, that of which I'm still feeling the effects of (though I'm mostly cured), and studying, I couldn't find time for completing it on the day I'd wished. However, I did try. It was late the night of December 14th when I attempted to finish both runs. I finished one and was preparing how I would post the final update when... Pokecorner was down. "Just my luck," I thought. So, a mixture of SO many things compiled into one product: I didn't get to finish my runs on the 14th. Oh, well.

And now, I present to you the epic conclusion to this story; the final update:

---------- Update ----------

http://img361.imageshack.us/img361/6940/steelrsvr4.png
----------------------

- Descended into the lower levels of the Cave of Origin.
- Witnessed the legendary Kyogre at the bottom of the cave.
- Battled with Kyogre, eventually capturing him and claiming his power.
- Returned to the surface, the world back to normal.
- Talked with Steven outside the Sootopolis Gym.
- Challenged the Sootopolis City Gym, PinoAB7 carrying me onto victory; I defeated Wallace and obtained the Rain Badge.
- Climbed the waterfall that guards Ever Grande City.
- Ventured into Victory Road, the final stretch.
- Just before I made my way out of Victory Road, Wally challenged me; I defeated him quite nicely.
- Made it to the Pokemon League.
- Did a LOT of grinding / leveling up, preparing for the Elite Four.
- Ran a few more errands, getting a few items in the process.
- Assembled my team's final movesets.
- Grinded / Trained a little bit more.
- Used some last minute items, namely Rare Candies.
- Bought over $200,000 in items, including Full Restores and Revives.

Currently: Prepared and ready to take on the Elite Four.

---------- Update ----------

http://img361.imageshack.us/img361/6940/steelrsvr4.png
-------------------------

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/rstrainer79.png Defeated quite easily. Nothing too difficult, just did lots of type-matching.
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/rstrainer80.png It went okay. I didn't have any type matching to do, so I just muscled my way through her pokemon.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/rstrainer81.png A lot easier than I'd originally thought. PinoAB7 and RX were the stars here.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/rstrainer82.png Here's where K.O proved his- ...er, I mean, her, worth. She took out three of his pokemon, RX cleaning up with Ice Beam. This one went very smoothly.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/rstrainer29.png
---------- The Champion of Hoenn ----------

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa227.png Wasn't much to this flying carbon-copy of Pyro Lee. Pino put 'em in his place with a quick Thunderbolt.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa306.png Quite possibly the most anticipated match-up of this entire monotype challenge, if you ask me, or close to it: RX vs. Steven's Aggron. I was hoping two Brick Breaks would be enough, and this held true, but he scared me with Earthquake. I thought, for sure, "I'm doomed," but RX pulled out and struck again, delivering the finishing blow to this iron-clad beast.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa348.png Actually quite a difficult battle only because of Water Pulse. I kept RX in and decided to heal him just to be safe, and he went down quite a bit from one Water Pulse. I used Brick Break, but it proved ineffective, and he ate another Water Pulse. I pulled him out in favor of K.O, hoping to Earthquake a time or two without getting 2HKO'd. Sure enough, on switch-in, Water Pulse takes half of K.O's life AND gets the confusion. I said good-bye to K.O at this point, but she got through the confusion and Earthquaked, but it didn't do as much as I'd hoped. I pull in Pyro Lee in favor of avoiding super-effective hits from Water Pulse. I felt extremely dumb and uneducated when Armaldo fell after one Steel Wing.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa344.png Good God, this took awhile. I decided to keep Pyro in to avoid Earthquakes and took advantage of this time to heal up my team. Meanwhile, he was attempting to dent Pyro with Ancientpower, but with lackluster results. He set up dual screens (Light Screen and Reflect) which just made my life harder. After fully healing my team, I pull in K.O, but she gets Earthquaked on sight, OHKOing her. After realizing the same would happen to Pino AND RX, I decide I'm going to have to wear him down slowly with Pyro Lee. After chipping away one bar with Steel Wing (about 1/9 of his health per use), Steven denies my efforts with a Full Restore. A repeat performance by Pyro Lee... AND STEVEN USES ANOTHER FULL RESTORE. So, after chipping away THREE bars of life from Claydol, he FINALLY FRICKIN' FALLS. Ugh... *cries in a corner*

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa346.png Kept Pyro in again at half health, tried an attack, and decided I wasn't about to chipkill again. I switched RX in and used the most effective attack, Ice Beam. I got a lucky freeze. It only lasted one turn, but it was a free beam. I traded beams with Giga Drains until Steven decided to use a Full Restore on 'em. I continued trading with him until he switched out, which took me by suprise. He switched out with Metagross here, but when he came back, the trading game continued until I finally dropped him.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa376.png Metagross, Steven's ultimate pokemon, suprised me. With RX out, I figured I'd just go on the attack, but he quickly destroyed that idea with Earthquake. I pull out Pyro Lee as a result and see that there was little I could do against him. However, I managed to be able to survive anything he threw at me with lots of room to spare. I took advantage of this and healed my team up completely. I saw my only option was what I dreaded having to resort to... chipkill. Yes... I chipped him to death. With Aerial Ace. I'm going to rock in a corner now.

So, I went home a champion: the new Champion of Hoenn. I can say this was a lot of fun, and I can say I'm proud of my team and our victory. After the second round, I've offically finished the challenge. This brought new light to an already great game. I'm really happy I completed the challenge.

I've finally found how much I love this game...Even though it took a lot of level grinding to do anything. Poison is tough in the beginning (You'll see how this went down in the rest of this post) But I feel it offers a lot of rewards later on.

The First Gym Badge
-I started with Mudkip and immediately caught a Wurmple who luckily ended up as a Dustox (Horokeu). After going through all of the story stuff, I made it to Rustboro...And my frustration began.
-Roxanne's Nospass not only resisted my attacks, but also was amazingly strong for my poor Dustox. I had to grind Dustox to level 20 before I won.

The Second Gym Badge
-This was MUCH easier. 1HKO'd 90% of the Pokes in that gym, and I resisted fighting!
-Went through the cave and proceeded to go through the story. This was the time I really realized how much I loved this game- and how long it's been since I've played it.

The Third Gym Badge
-Caught Oddish (Ren Tao) and Gulpin (nomnomnom)
-Trained the two of them until they evolved.
-That. Magneton. Resisted. EVERY ATTACK I HAD. But after a ton of training, I was able to faint it. The other three were incredibly easy, but Magneton makes this gym the hardest yet. (Yes; Even harder then Roxanne.)

Current Party:

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/emespr/emespr269.png
Dustox (Horokeu) (Lv. 27)
-Gust
-Psybeam
-MoonLight
-Protect

Horokeu is actually pretty good so far. He's the only access to phsycic moves I'll have in a while.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/emespr/emespr044.png

Gloom (Ren Tao) (Lv. 27)
-PoisonPowder
-Sleep Powder
-Acid
-Absorb

Not the hardest of hitters but still can cause poison and sleep. I am in great need of stronger attacking options here (Although he did take out Manectrec)

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/emespr/emespr317.png

Swalot (nomnomnom) (Lv. 29)
-Body Slam
-Yawn
-Encore
-Shock Wave

No poison type moves (Deleted Sludge for Shock Wave) But is arguably the best on the team. Body Slam is really hard hitting for this early, Yawn and Encore are moves I use for my COMPETITIVE team including Swalot. Shock Wave is for coverage.

Note: A good friend of mine is doing a Dark monotype (Not logging though) and we will be battling after the 4th, 6th, and 8th gyms, and with our end parties. I will post those battles here. He skipped Mighteyena and only has a Lv. 31 Saybley (Around the same point I'm at. He had a MUCH easier time to get there though haha)

Imma do flying on emerald. I was gonna do fighting when I realized that you can't get mditite in emerald so yeahhhhh

FaWa

The Fourth Gym Badge
-I was EXTREMELY disappointed when I found Roselia wasn't available in Emerald. I skipped Koffing and Muk (They would ruin the awesome streak my team is having) and went straight for Route 114- And caught the almighty Seviper. I like it's moveset, so I think once I train it enough I'll be good to go :D. Im getting Tentacool at the next chance, and then my team shall be complete! (Unless I decide to go for Muk- which I doubt will happen.)
-The 4th gym was difficult, but not impossible. I took care of Numel with Seviper and Slugma with Gloom. Camerupt was a hard one but Swalot took care of him. Then that god damn Torkoal came out. This was my second try on it, and I learned that it would be better to take a stalling approach. I poisoned him, and proceeded to stall with Protect and Moonlight on Dustox, and then Gulpin's great defensive stats. I came out on top! (Thank god...)
-Now it's off to face my dad! I'll train up Seviper some more by then...Possibly get everyone to Lv. 32.

Current Party:

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/emespr/emespr269.png
Dustox (Horokeu) (Lv. 30)
-Gust
-Psybeam
-MoonLight
-Protect

Not any real changes- Just leveling.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/emespr/emespr044.png

Gloom (Ren Tao) (Lv. 30)
-PoisonPowder
-Sleep Powder
-Acid
-Absorb

Again, no changes. But I'm still waiting to get Giga Drain D:

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/emespr/emespr317.png

Swalot (nomnomnom) (Lv. 31)
-Body Slam
-Toxic
-Encore
-Shock Wave

Swapped Yawn for Toxic. He's pretty good, and I'm sure he'll help in the E4.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/emespr/emespr336.png

Seviper (Loci) (Lv. 26)
-Wrap
-Screech
-Bite
-Poison Tail

I really love his moveset. Screech is always good, Wrap is ok, and Bite/PT do wonders in terms of coverage. He's just a little underleveled.
