Maybe Pokecommunity need some new perks to make things more exciting?. Like for example if they want to have more options to customize their profile they could go to PC's gift shop to buy like new images for their background or new kind of coulours. But, like that would cost a certian amount of posts.

Bascially what I mean is there could be a PC gift shop that sells certian things to perk up user's profile and such but costs a certian amount of posts.
good idea? Bad idea?.

People can make their own background images for their profiles, and all the colors are available in some HTML format.

It would be a great idea if you would precise some better items to buy. I would say some stuff like .. Colour change, Medals, Rank Images and more..

Heres the plugin for VBPlaza :

I'm not sure wich version of VB we are using right now.

This wouldn't be a bad idea, but when we consider the fact that Upper tier supporters already have most of these, I can predict Lightning to strike down on this thread and say:

These perks are already available by supporters so there is no need really...

Eh. I'm not 100% sure that this will work. I mean, most of the perks go to the supporters, anyway, so if people could get them by other means, then less money goes into the PC fund, which is not a great thing.

Colour Change - It's a Supporter benefit
Medals - We have the Emblem System
Rank Images - I think this came up a while ago. We already have postcounts, so extra Ranks are just overcomplicating things.

Sorry to shoot down the ideas, but that's my stance on this.

I mean Medals that go right beside your name, or under. Like a small emoticon under your name on the posts you make. Like maybe pokeballs or Pokemon.

OH! That just gave me an Idea O_O

Maybe if we add a point system, we could use points to buy Pokemon of the PCPLaza. That would make Claiming harder and cooler. Buying pokemon on the forum would be great. Points could be by rep and post counts.

Uh, Rep was disabled a while ago. So I doubt that'll work. That would really cause it to be abused. =/

I'm still uneasy on the medal thing. It will just clog the postbit, imo.

I have an idea; why doesn't the staff make an emblem titled "I wanted something more" and then the image has "But all I got was this"

Then hand it out to all those who are not happy with what they got.

Well I dont really care about the way we can earn points but, I must say. It would be great to have a shop full of pokemon, wich we will be able to buy, and make our own teams. And it would be cool if the team would be published in every post we make. To make it more visible.

Great idea let's clutter up the postbit even more. Most of what you want to do is covered by a variety of things - signatures for images you want displayed every time you post, Claims sections in the profile etc.

The problem with a shop system, no matter how trivial the items on sale, is that there is no automated way to distribute points fairly and which has no potential to be abused by the sort of saddos who post in every topic in a particular forum just for +1 to their post counts. (Join date could be used, but it throws up its own, obvious problems in that new users will be effectively excluded from the system, and that it circumvents the whole point of a points system - to reward activity.) The only good points systems I've seen have had points distributed manually by an administrator, and that would never work on a forum of this size.

As an aside, total thumbs up to Bakufuun's idea. xD

Points are a real big problem in this case.. Maybe we could open up a Arcade? Ive seen forums with Arcade games, where you win points. But that would be boring.. Ive seen a forum where you gain points by how big is your post. Big useless posts are usualy deleted by admins. Spamming words like @@@@@@@@@ on a whole page is going to be resulted by a infraction and ban. Maybe we could give out points by how big the post you make is?

Ew. People don't come here to play Space Invaders, they come here to talk with other Pokémon fans.

Length of post has no correlation whatsoever with the helpfulness of a post or how much it contributes to the community. Someone could write three pages' worth of awful fanfiction, post it, and then receive vastly more points than someone who has clearly and succinctly helped someone in CQF.

Don't think I've seen that one, but as long as it fits the " I wanted more than I've got"

This could coincide well with the points system VB has.
Supporting should get a you a nominal amount of points let's say 5000 for Tier 5, and 1000 for Tier 1?
Giving more people more reason to support.

Yes, but.. we need a good point system. How do you think we should obtain points?

Posting, emblems, winning contests such as sotw or motm, acieving a certain amount of posts, supporting, and other members can donate points to one another, also used to buy certain things such as maybe signatures certain graphic artists have made or other things like that.

Here is my views.

Posting = No, Because people will spam for points. Besides people have like 1k+ posts already. Not fair for me d:
Emblems = Good, But its going to be hard for people to buy pokemon if you need emblems, since emblems are given manualy..
SOTW = Good idea, But not so much for people who do not do Graphics.
Supporting = I wouldnt pay just for a pokemon D:
This is why its hard to find a good Point system!

I think supporter-only perks are fine. Getting perks for having a certain amount of posts is a little dumb, while also considering the fact about how much spam might go around, and how many posts the staff would probably have to delete.

We already have a perk for getting 5k posts.

Well, for a start people have to take into mind that even if people are going to try and spam post, if they are getting a point a post or something minimal like that they won't be getting much and will most likely get bored of it fairly fast. As for you thinking it be unfair because you've only joined recently, well tough luck it's just the way things work bud, you don't just walk into a job as the CEO huh? You gotta work for it.

You seem to think a system like this revolves solely around buying Pokemon huh? It can be used in many other sections of the forum as well, as I have stated, as I stated SotW it was first thing came to mind, and there are many other competitions in the community that would be able to give points prizes as well.

As I have said here, this points system doesn't just revolve around Pokemon, if you are supporting then it shouldn't be for the perks or points, it should be to help out the community and keep it online.
