Yeah mapping was preety good!
I realized the screen tinting so that was cool!
though you dont do much!
All you can do is talk to the locals
and see suicoune (you should make a switch, because that event keeps on happening)

hey i found another glitch once you enter CherryGrove you imedialy go into battle with Kamon and once you beat him you go into battle with him again.....and this never stops....lol

I taught it was good. I was getting into it until the game froze. It had alot of bugs in it.
The game froze for me after I picked totodile. The player got stuck at the table then the message box would not erase and I couldn't do anything.
It was a pitty there was no running system or menu.
The day/night effect happened in houses.
Just fix those out and this game will be great. Like the map work was really good- and your events seemed well done (for what I saw).

^Well, I, uh, don't have a battle system in the game yet. Those maps you see are the ones I'm testing out. And I haven't put in wild pokémon yet. With any luck, the Indigo demo will have all of these things and more.

Not bad. In other news, some people are experiencing technical difficulties when entering Prof. Elm's lab, mostly centered around a "Planet 1" file. So I've uploaded said file so they can play the game.
Er, I would've done it if I had that file. Does anyone have it?

Thanks, Datriot. I'm using [DarkDragon](sp?)'s recolored tiles.
@mattgcn: It was orange because of the Day/Night system. I'm going to fix the tint so it's a bit darker like it is in Crystal.
BTW, have you guys realized that most things so far in my game have been based more on Crystal than on G/S? That's because I'm using my Crystal ROM to help me out w/ the game.
EDIT: ^I intend to finish this when I'm actually, well, finished with the game. I want to put in the Sevii Islands along with Kanto, and I'm also going to put a past-Kanto area that'll be unlocked after the Elite 4 and that'll be the "Time Capsule"

Very nice, but the one thing that bothers me is that the morning and night time colours are extremely saturated - if I were you, I'd take away some of the colour. I mean, night isn't blue and morning isn't gold, they're more subtle than that... just a suggestion. :)

Wow, that past Kanto sounds just like an idea they had at another GSC remake about a past Johto. It even used the time capsule.

Its not the easiest way but unless u have the set already, i have an idea! Take the attachments i got ones the gym from gold and ones the gym from ruby u cud try using the gold one as a templete!

its free, but if you register it (not free) you get a better version of it

It kinda is blue if you take away the blue from night it would be <gulp>........black and white :paranoid:
I mean really night dose have a blue effect ( well in new zealand is dose )
and G/S/C uses blue for the night and yelloish for morining!

no, he hasn't done those yet, here's what he has done:
- All Johto Cities, Routes, Forests, Caves and Gyms
- Charsets of Gold & Crystal.
- Front and Back Sprites of Gold and Crystal and Front Sprite of Silver
- Sprites of Gold and Crystal's Bag with the different pockets open
- A new PokeGear design
- Lab, Gold/Crystal's House 1st and 2nd Floor and Ruins of Alph.
- Sprout Tower and some more.
- Advanced sprites of all trainers that appeared in GSC versions.
basically he's only missing a good part of the insides that he is working on and some charsets.

those are the ones I have but my friend was getting help from Polaris and Coronis as well. (Coronis made the GSC balls in advance style and so on) so mine are a bit more detailed (I have extra sprites in addition to those)

^I don't have the file. However, you can fix the problem by going to Elm's Lab's map properties and disable the parallax background option.

I've mapped Route 43 and Lake of Rage. However, I do still need a Gyarados charset, if anyone has one. I'll put up screens later.

I've mapped Route 44 and I'm working on the Ice Cave. Screens coming soon, but they'll just be showing off the maps until those Lance and Dragonite sprites are finished, and then I'll be able to add the events. That's also the case for Mahogany Gym.

The first four screens are of Lake of Rage, one with the Red Gyarados, and the others with Lance. The next 2 are of the Mart in Mahogany, controlled by Team Rocket at the moment. And the last 2 are of the Team Rocket Hideout Floor B1.

Maybe. If I recall correctly, you just run the actual game from the RUN command in the Start Menu, after you browse for a bit.

Yh i think that would be good to, to place your own little mark in the vast wolrd of Pocket Monsters you should add a few 'suprises' during the game like guest apprences lol. I think the pokemon idea is good having like eevee im not sure it would work well in the grass thou cos then it would be to easy to get all evolutions. Maybe just get the choice during the game to go to a special place.

Since this thread needed a bump, I'll ask this again: does anyone know what event commands I can use to simulate a slippery ice tile? I just need this so I can add them to the Mahogany Gym, and other maps.

You could try a move event so if u are on the ice then it moves the charatcer as many spaces in the direction u want so say;

All right, I've uploaded the demo on zshare. And, as an added bonus, it has up to Blackthorn City and Route 26/27 in Kanto. However, most of the events aren't added yet.

You don't theres a percific file that actually runs the game but you need to have the RTP to actually see the file.

Ok im going out on a limb here cos i dont use rm2k3 anymore but if i remeber correctly u could do; on the ice tiles, create an 'on touch' event and then do a Move Event, make these move events fit into the path u want to take so like;
Tile 1 Tile 2
Tile 3
You could make a move event on tile one which moves you to tile 3 and then because you made tile 2 an 'on touch' event aswelll you move to tile 3 straight after. I hope this helped and i hope i got this right lol.

Originally, I had decided to not to include that "Buena's Password" thing, but seeing as how I was using a Crystal ROM to get everything, I decided to include it, so I redid the map for Radio Tower 2F to include Buena's area. As a result, I copied and pasted some of the tiles in Crystal to plug 'em in. I'll post screens of it later.

jeez that looks cool GSC were my favorite games im glad someones remaking them. also I like the way you went beyond the three main times of day and added sunrise, sunset, etc...looks cool is what im saying. The only question i have from looking at your screenshots is, does the morning-day-night feature change the appearance of inside buildings too?

Screen 1 is of the Radio Tower's 2F, before TR invades, and Screen 2 is of an officer who's apparently guarding a secret to be revealed in due time...
Screen 3 is of Mahogany Gym, and Screen 4 is of the Radio Tower's 2F during the TR Invasion.
Screens 5 & 6 are of the RT's 3F during the T.R.I., and Screens 7 & 8 are of floors 4 and 5, respectively.
Comments welcome, since the RT 2F screens are the first with some of GSC's tiles. And I might end up doing the same for the Underground Warehouse.

^Yeah, I released that technical demo before fixing that. For everyone stuck with this, if you didn't know, just go to the intro map and right-click in the middle of the map, and pick "start hero point" or something like that (it has the icon of a sprite with an H on it).
And as for screens of the CBS, um... well, I haven't put it in yet... I'm waiting until I'm done with all of Johto's maps...

It's games such as these that really amaze and inspire me. Like many people, I've always wanted to play a remake of the classic GSC series. (The Pokemon Company were idiots not to have made it themselves. They would have made millions.) All over the place, I've seen half-assed attempts at remaking GSC, none of which have ever gotten anywhere. This game, however, really seems to be getting somewhere.
The night and day graphics (thank you, The Pokemon Company for taking those out in RS, it was a wonderful discission *snort*) are simply amazing. Hell, I can't even keep track of how many different times there are. Morning, Day, Sunset, Night, Dusk... Seriously, I have no idea. From what I could tell, there were five different shades. (Maybe my eyes are screwy. XD)
So, anyways, I have some questions about the game.
1) Just how many times of day graphics are there? And what does each represent?
2) Will you be adding the Kanto region into this game?
3) Will you be adding any extra features that did not appear in GSC?
4) I noticed the picture at the start. With Gold's Mom and her friend. The friend's only there in Crystal. Are you putting all of the Crystal functions in, too?
But, yeah, awesome game. I'll be, like, the fourth person in line most eager to play it. =P

Awesome! I really am looking forward to this game. For some reason, I found it hard to play Gold and Silver once Crystal was released. Same for Ruby and Sapphire. Once Emerald was out, I just couldn't return to the slightly out-of-date games. XD So I'm really relived that you're remaking Crystal, as well.
The extra feature will be cool, too. It's always nice to see something new in a game. (The Team Rocket invades Goldenrod events must have been really hard to program. What with all the people moving around and such. I love that part of the game.) Be sure to add more screenshots when you can. Those graphics are so... Graphical. XD Seriously, I could stare at them for... Minutes!
Now to answer your question (XD); I don't really like Cardcaptors. All the cuts and censoring started to irritate me after a while. I prefer the Japanese version, Card Captor Sakura. ^_^
But, anyways, can't wait for the game. It's great to see a GSC remake finally getting somewhere. (I'm serious. They're must be, like, 10 uncompleted GSC remake projects. >>)

When you go to Start and Run, click Browse, then make sure you're looking through your hard drive. Go to Programs, then to RPG Maker 2000/3, and you should see the project folder.

Erm why isn't rpgmaker good... its not like were all pros at game making and we make games using codes from scratch, rpgmaker is good enough to make pokemon games, what are you using? or how are you making your games....
On Topic: Game is quite good, some minor things that need fixing, the custom text box doesn't always show, i know you can easily fix that hehe, are you working on a CBS at all? Just wondering, because i didnt encounter any battles at all.

On the latest demo you start on lake of rage so for those who don't know you have to open the game in rpg 2003 and open cities/newbarktown/playerhouse then in events right click and press set as starting position

^It's actually supposed to start on the Intro map so do this for that map.

If you mean something like the whole Gengar/Nidorino thing, then yeah. Just matched to Gold/Silver's, and I may add bits from the Crystal one.

Gold's appearance is based on the character from Pokespecial manga, so he's abit different than the one from the G/S/C games.

Thanks for all your comments, everyone! ^_^ Now as for updates, I'll start putting in the trainers of Blackthorn Gym (they won't battle until the CBS is up) and I'm going back to some maps to edit/add some events.

I don't get how to continue!!! When you get to cianwood and try to enter the house next to suicune, it freezes! When i get to the dogs, there is no figure and I get blocked by uscine....

Another thing lance on Cianwood city Suicine dosn't run away when you see him and the guy whos hunting suicine event don't erase he will keep comin when you go nere the dog

Most impressive Goldclone I've ever seen. There are lots of problems with going through doors and crashing, but that might just be a side effect of my strange PC setup.

Oh and I really think that this is an awesome game. Really nice spritage, and events are sweet. But what I'm wondering is, whats with the suicune who just sits there... is that supposed to go away?
Maybe its just some little thing to fix. Oh well, keep up the good work!
