Im back with another one of my petty problems... though even searching on Yahoo! doesn't help me more often then not.
Once in awhile, my Avira doesn't Update and it doesn't bother me but this time, it hasnt updated in three days >:
Does anyone know what's happening ? Or am I doing something incorrectly?

Have you tried manually downloading the updates? Sometimes Avira does that with me. If that doesnt help uninstall it then re install it as a clean start http://www.avira.com/en/support/kbdetails.php?id=135.

What do you mean? it hasn't done it automatically, or it can't do it at all. You need to give us more information.

If it's Avira free you need to update manually

When did this happen? I've got the free version and it's been updating regularly for the four months I've had it (though my version does pop up with advertisements to buy the full version after a successful update).

I tried doing it manually, I don't think it received updates

Except mine didn't update automatically, and it won't manually update so...yea
EDIT: I see my Avira is updated to today but the windows security alerts say Im still out of date =(

I've had a similar problem with Avira not updating, my machine was clean, I ended up putting AVG on for awhile. I couldn't find the root of the problem.

So maybe I should go and get Avast! instead ?
Or is it just an error ?
Or Am I doing something stupid that's causing all this rofl

You could try telling it to update through the program now... maybe it's just a one time thing. (an error occurred yesterday morning while updating for me, but it was fine by last night)

Download a second free AV and have it scan... if it detects something, then that's probably what's preventing Avira from updating (Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast!, and AVG Free all will not attack other free AVs, from personal experience, and Avira won't attack other free AVs either, so if Avira's infected, then you'd know because the other AVs would probably be attacking it).

Open Internet Explorer and see if you can go to http://free-av.com/, which is Avira's homepage. If you can access it, then it's doubtful that malware/a virus is keeping you from updating. I said IE because it's more succeptable to security issues and is more likely to behave like the AV, given that it's so heavily integrated into the system.
In the end, just download the lastest installer, go offline (or at least close all browsers, chat clients, downloaders, etc) and reinstall Avira.

Ive done that and I can access to the page on IE.
I reinstalled Avira but it still indicates I havent updated it yet though it clearly shows I updated it today =(
Is this some kind of problem or should I get another AV?
