Ruby Remake: Pokemon Hoen Hero's

Introduction

Hello everyone and welcome to my new hacks thread. This game is remake of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. So far i have seen a remake of every GBA pokemon game except the Hoenn ones. I don't know why people have not remade it yet, so i did it myself. I loved Pokemon Ruby version, when i played it years and years ago. Now that i have seen all these new graphics in hacks, i don't really like playing the Hoenn games anymore. That is why i decided to remake Ruby version with better graphics.

Storyline
C'mon, you guys know Ruby Version! The Storyline is the same but slightly changed. There are new Legendary Pokemon events that come with a new set of events which back them up.

... Wait, why REMAKE a GBA game that... You are hacking to make the remake of? Isn't that, technically, what a ROM Base can be used for as well? So, you may say you added more legendaries, but no offence or anything, but why exactly should this hack be... Well, called a hack, and not a modification, or an addition, and as such, isn't Progressing, as the Progress is in the game, not the hack, as the hack is improving the games graphics? Well, remaking a game by hacking said game... Wait, that isn't remaking, but improving...

Also, what the poster below said. Better to have 1 good hack, than 2 average, or even not that good hack. You want to improve Ruby? Well... hack Firered, as a hack of Ruby to improve Ruby is technically a ROM Base, or an addition. But, kudos for trying, and I sympathise with you. I like Ruby to get more attention, hence why I make my ROM Bases mainly for Ruby.

Yeah it will have new areas to explore and new rivals. Its not just a rom base with a changed title. And yes i will be mostly hacking Elite. I am not doing 3 hacks at once. Etzion was my first-It got Shut down for now.

Yes, my other hack is better. But there is a point.
The point is that now people can play Pokemon Ruby version, and not feel like they are beeing cheeted with graphics. I also am adding a new rival, and allowing you to ketch and battle pokemon from each region.

Its just a rough draft, and it needs some finishing touches.
The sprite is based off the HG/SS red sprite. Please don't steel it!

It's a bad sign when the main region is spelt wrong.

And I don't particularly see the point of this thing...really. "Better" graphics is completely subjective, I find Emerald's stock tiles better than these ones.

But eh, I guess I see your point.

It's "Hoenn", and I believe the term you're looking for is "Heroes". "Hero's" is possessive, "Heroes" is plural.

The mixing of overworld styles does not look good, and the D/P people look poorly resized. Same goes for the battle sprites.

I also don't understand why you would remake a game on the same console the original was released on. :\ This doesn't look like any kind of improvement over the original.

You should work on your grammar and spelling.
* More legendary's This should be "legendaries". Again, possessive, not plural.
* Ketch Pokemon from all the regions. Catch, not Ketch. I'm not even sure how it's possible to misspell that.

That's funny :D, and completely true. For all you Haters.... Check the main post, I made it so you can see original Ruby version next to Hoenn Hero's. I personally think the Hoen Hero Pics look more advanced.

Well all Pokemon from Jhoto and Kanto will be in the game. I am not sure if i want to put DP in yet. Maybe just 1-2 DP Pokemon will be in the game. The national dex is a problem that i am trying to fix. Because the script for a national dex is not just an event i can set. I think i have to set a flag. I am trying to figure out which one. I am not a script-er so this is hard for me. If anyone can show me how to activate it in Ruby version please tell me.

It's not negative, it's the truth. The fact is, you don't really give much of a reason why this will be better than Ruby. I have nothing against the hack, I just think there needs to be more innovation, that's all. Fact is, your the hater, I actually liked Ruby's graphics, saying their bad is pretty negative on your part. ALso, I would never play a game just for a cosmetic change, I need more, THAT'S why I bought Pearl and Platinum. That's why I bought Blue and Yellow. I know this hack has great potential, and I hope you finish it.

Well this game is not to show off my hacking skills and have a new adventure, like diamond and pearl. Its just a fun game for people who want to play Ruby again, but different. Too some people the tiles are not exactly "better", but different. Its just spicing it up a bit to make it feel like you just playing the same game over and over. Also you can catch Pokemon from Jhoto and Kanto which is a big difference from Ruby. I am not talking about just geodude and sandshrew lol. I mean you can complete the national dex without trading.

In fact, i am sorry if i have not mentioned this before, this is a hack of Ruby. The specials are all done. So are the scripts. I am just adding things to the game and improving things that where a little week way back when Gamefreek made this game. Personally I loved everything about Ruby when it came out. But after all these new games out, it makes Ruby look.. i don't no how to say this but.. week. This hack is not to show off hacking skillz. Its just a small little project for people who want to play Ruby again, but spiced up.

Hi! I have heard you are hacking ruby to be ruby except with updated sprites and stuff but I have some tips for it so it can really be like a ruby remake for gba.
1. Have heart gold and soul silver text in it.
2.Try to replace everyones OWs with updated ones from heart gold or soul silver or diamond or pearl or platinum that fits in except gym leaders.

Those are my tips. You don't have to use those tips. It will make it more of a remake but its your deciseion.

I understand the point your trying to make with this project but...all it is, is playing the same story on the same game, all it really seems is that your adding things but altogether we will still be playing Ruby that Nintendo has given us, like someone stated above I suggest you remake it on Firered although it will be a long shot it will definitaly pay off.

Now for my CC.

I don't like the new tiles, the PC is alright but the houses aren't good at all but that's my opinion.

The idea of updating Ruby's maps and OW sprites sounds really pleasing. The sprites look a slightly bit more realistic than their Chibi OW appearances in R/S/E.
You claim that the scripts have been tweaked a bit; can we get more information as to how it changes from the original R/S/E story?
Also, I think (and it's just a suggestion) that if you added the Day/Night system into your remake would make it a bit more pleasing. Coming from a guy who began with Sapphire, I have never had the opportunity to try G/S/C's day/night system, and seeing the game in eternal sunshine (Seriously, daylight @ 11:37 PM) is just a bit odd for me.
