How do I make my evee happy enough to get Espeon?
Does anyone have tips for finding Suicune (I started with Charmander)? Is his appearance truly random or are there "hot spots"?

Eevee usually evolves when it's happy depending on the time of day. But there isn't time in FRLG, so you have to trade it over to RS and evolve it there. Happiness levels reset when you trade a Pokemon though. I think you could also send over one from Pokemon Colosseum if you have it.

Suicune is completely random in the Kanto region. It won't appear in the Sevii Islands. Once you run into it once though it should be easier to find it since you can track it in your PokeDex. You could also just battle a friend that already has Suicune and it'll appear in your PokeDex so you can track it without ever running into it.

Thank you very much for your response!

Regarding Suicune, does it appear in grasses only or in caves as well? In your experience, how long does it usually take before you run into it once?

It goes everywhere and to get i try to predict its rout and go ahead .

So it follows a certain route as it moves through Kanto?

Ya but if you fly toward him he'll just go to another far away route

Simon

It can only move to adjacent routes. Everytime you enter a new route or city, it'll "move" to an adajcent route.

Exmaple: You're on Route 10 and Suicune is on Route 15. You move to Route 11, Suicune will move to either Route 14 or 16.

And that was jsut an example. I'm not sure if Route 14 and 16 are adjacent to Route 15. I just used 14,15 and 16 because the are in sequential (COOL!!! MY FIRST TIME USING THAT WORD!!!) order.

If you fly, Suicune, Raikou or Entei will jump to a random location on the map, usually one that's far away from you. You can try to manipulate this by flying until it appears in a nearby route. But since you haven't even seen SRE yet you wouldn't even know if it was 5 feet away from you.

Ah, that clears things up. If he is on the same route you are, what % chance does each wild pokemon encounter have of being with Suicune?

It will always be suicune.Thats the good part. The bad part is catching and finding it.

Simon

It won't always be Suicune. You'll run into other Pokemon as well if you don't use Repel. Use Repel and elad with a Pokemon that is about level 40 and all other Pokemon should be repeled making it so that you'll run into Suicune if it's on the same route.

You will get Suicune eventually if you don't use Repel. If you do, and the average level of your Pokemon is Level 40 or less, then the only battle you shall come into with will be Suicune. But... catching it is the hard part. >.<

I would save my MB for whichever Legendary Dog you get, cause you can always save in front of the others, the Dogs you have to chase around, and it's not fun XD.

ok, here's what i did...i ran around randomly to every place and got into at least 6 battles per route then went on. i got it in about 45 minutes...of course, i missed it as i didn't have my wobuffet on me...anyway, once i had seen it, i flew to cerulean..or celadon..the one with misty...and flew there if it wasn't in the area until one of the times it was. at that point, i picked one of the 3 routes that it wasn't at ( the one up and to the left worked most of the time for me) and went there. if it followed, i'd battle it and try to catch it. if i did, yay. if not, lather rinse, repeat
and how do you trade pokemon from colleseum? please be explicit

yeah using a pokemon who has the arena trap ability is one of the smartest thing to do when catchin a legendary dog unless you have a masterball on ya.
and seraphim its not very "explicit" but if you got a gc to gba link cable I think it says in the manual how to trade, or in the pokemon colloseum manual I dunno

i tried that...so you just go to a pkmn center and turn on colleseum, then just trade from the title screen? where must i be in colleseum? i find no option that says "trade" in colleseum, nor do i find a place where i can transfer pokemon from colleseum to fr, even tho i have beaten the game

Let's keep that topic in Simple Questions eh? This topic here is about the Legendary Dogs, not your trading problems.

yeah, I'm looking for entei =_= fun times right there.

I haven't even encountered him yet. once I do it should get a lot easier... but right now I just need to find him the first time. since he follows a pattern in where he goes, provided I don't fly... theoretically, if I keep entering and leaving the same route, I'd eventually run into him, right? or at least have half a chance of doing so because leaving and entering a route makes him move twice. :/ so he could just skip right over me...

This might just be coincedince, but I found mine on route 1. The next day, my friend found his on route 1. Soon after, my other friend found his on route 1. And my last friend has yet to find hers, but I told her if she gets frustrated, try route 1...

If I just keep restarting and checking the same route over and over, will I eventually catch him? or does he never get randomly placed in the route you're in when you restart?

If I just keep restarting and checking the same route over and over, will I eventually catch him? or does he never get randomly placed in the route you're in when you restart?Wht would you restart? It'll just be in the same place as when you saved the game. Its location only changes when you move to a different route or use Fly. When you use Fly, there's a chance that it'll appear near where you land, but the chances of that are extremely slim.

Mewtwo19
October 20th, 2004, 10:57 AM
Are you sure about that? I heard others say that the location changes when you restart. So when I use fly, the probabilities are weighted such that those locations farthest away from the location to which I fly are more likely to be occupied by Suicune?

Lol, I might just end up buying a gameshark to get Suicune

You can try this method I made up (unless some else made it up first);

Go to route 1 and start searching... do around 5 battles. Then FLY to pallet town (you must use FLY because this will make the dogs move to a new location randomly). Go back to route 1 and repeat the method. Route 1 is a good area because it is a dead end route.

Btw I haven't caught suicune because I still need to accomplish other goals.

If I use max repel with a level 48 poke as my first and don't run into Suicune in the time it takes to wear off the repel, is it safe to say that it's not there?

Simon

Yeah. It's pretty safe to say that.

the pokemon in my party are level 60+, if i use any of the repels(repel, super repel, max repel) will i still be able to find entei(sp?)? i've tried searching for it on several routes using repels but haven't found him.

I thought the legendary dog that appears depends on what Pokemon you start out with.
I started with Bulb and I recently caught Entei. (Bulb=Entei, Char=Suicune, Squirt=Raikou)
Or, I could be wrong and I just haven't seen either yet.

Nope, repels will stop all pokemon at the level your pokemon in the first slot is. Basically if your first pokemon is lv50 it will stop all pokemon below lv50.
