The title says it all :)

The first time i saw pokemon was when i was about... maybe 5 years old... the first season used to come on CITV (Channel 3, uk) And i loved it to BITS!! Then.. when i was about 6 or 7 my cuzin gave me her old gameboy pocket for free with a mario game and pokemon yellow :) (her mum just brought her a gameboy advenced SP) And i fell in love with the game! The batteries kept running out so i kept asking my mum to goto the shops and buy AAA batteries. Since this was my first pokemon game (and actuarly my first EVER game) i didnt know much about how to play it... i kept getting happy when i caught pidgeys on route 1 and once my party was full of pidgeys and one pikachu i set out to viridian and never got past the old man on the floor till i was 9 years old... :)

I believe I was 10 and I saw the very first aired Pokemon episode on TV. Then I heard about the game and begged my parents to buy me Pokemon Red. And then I got into the cards, which I spent over hundreds of dollars on. From there on, I just got into it and I never grew out of it.

I had asked for a GameBoy Color for Christmas in '98. When my parents bought it in GAME, the guy behind the counter advised them to buy Tarzan, Mole Mania and a little game called Pokémon Blue with it to keep me amused Christmas Day. I was hooked from the start. Then a couple of months later Sky (we had Sky back then, we don't now, sadface) announced that a new cartoon series called Pokémon was launching later on that year. Naturally, I tuned in, whilst simultaneously collecting the cards. I've been a fan ever since ^^

I believe that my thread is just almost as same as yours. So does it necessary to create another same topic threads?

They are a little alike but yours is basicly about what made you play the game... This thread is about why your a fan of pokemon and how it happened... yours is asking what made you play the games :\ Also your thread is realy in the wrong section... it needs to be in general gaming :\

Lets go back to the topic now please

Like many other people, I got into Pokemon because everyone else was into it. All the "cool" kids had Pokemon Red or Blue and I joined in.

My brother got me into the whole trading card deal, then the rest was history.

I think it was when the "tooth fairy" got my brother a GameBoy Color with Red Version.

Then it was just like, that. We got the little figures and cards and watched the shows every saturday morning.

When I was 8, I watched the Koga episode. Then, I became addicted to Pokémon, bought all the sticker albums and magazines related to it, the trading cards and all. And my cousin sent me his Blue Version ROM. I became so addicted that you can't imagine in what kind of trouble I got in. (Surely more than you can think.)

I was in 3rd or 2nd grade and we went out to recess. One of my friends was sitting on the bench with his gameboy and I went to look what he was doing. he said he was playing pokemon and looking for a pikachu. I had no clue what he was talking about so i watched him play for a while and thought, wow i have to get this game.

I got the blue version that same day. yay for being a spoiled child!

It was 1998, I was on short holiday in England with my mum, my nana and my papa and we were staying in a big caravan (it was like the size of a small house not one of those tiny caravans that you attach to the back of your car) an even though we had this awesome caravan and there was a big complex just round the corner from us, I hadn't brought any toys with me so I was bored. We then took a trip out to a sort of market with stalls and such. an there was a guy selling all kinds of Games, and a new device called a Gameboy colour lol I decided I would used all the pocket money I had saved up (I was only 7) to try an buy this but I didn't nearly have enough. My papa said he would buy it for me and my mum said I could have one game for it. I used to love dragons so for me a 7 year old boy seeing something I would later know as Charizard on the front cover of "Pokemon Red Version" made me want to buy it because it looked like a Dragon. After I got it I kept annoying everyone to go back to the caravan an when they eventually said yes I flew into my room (yes, I flew. lol) shoved the cartridge in, an I was hooked. The holiday was ruined by me just sitting playing it all the time. What is even better is that by sheer luck I picked Charmander as my starter pokemon (I didn't know about evolutions obviously lol) and by the time It was time to leave the holiday and go back home I had a Charizard. BEST. HOLIDAY. EVER. :P To this day I still have that Pokemon Red with the ORIGINAL save, haven't ever started a new game on it. So my old Charizard is still there :D

You must of had an epic tooth fairy. All I ever got was a dollar or two.

I was four, maybe. It's hard to remember now. I saw the episode where Ash got Bulbasaur, got an fossil-set Omanyte card from my cousin, and after a while I wanted Pokemon Gold for Christmas. I played that thing to death and farther, and that's what happened. Also, it probably enabled me to comprehend how RPGs work for the rest of my life. ^^ And I still want my fossil-set shiny ditto back from my cousin. Jerk gave me a non-shiny one last time I asked... XP

Have I mentioned I'm really excited waiting for HG to come out?

The Mystery At Mount Moon.

Yeah, instead of getting hooked into Pokemon by the games, I got hooked by the anime. After watching Mystery at Mount Moon, I started liking them. :3 Then eventually for my sixth or seventh birthday, I got a Gameboy Color with Pikachu and Pichu on it along with both Gold and Silver version.

I will always thank Mystery At Mount Moon for bringing me into this fandom, yup. /o/
