How do i expand the size limit? Do i have to donate money or something?

Yes, you do have to donate.

I believe if you're a Tier 3+ supporter (correct me if I'm wrong), your profile pic can be 160x160, and if you're a Tier 6 supporter it can be even larger (I don't recall how big, though I think it can be as big as a staff member's maximum profile pic size).

The limits within my profile picture is 160x240. (Tier 3+)

As for Tier 6, There's a blog by Gerri Shin about what are the benefits of it.

It's actually 240 (width) by 180 (height).

But that might be just for 5 Tiers.

Tier 6 users can have profile pic up to 420 x 400 pixels (655350 bytes) in size. I'm not sure if that's the same as staff, but it's at least close and plenty big enough.
