I'm using very fast T1 lines and PPN still doesn't load. Even with dialup, it only loads part way. Below is a screen shot of what loads for me. And it doesn't say "still loading". The browser finished loading and the banner and google ad showed up only. ^_^;; Com'on! If there were too many images...I don't think that would be the problem. Perhaps it is a browser problem? I'm using MSIE. I think I've only seen PPN fully load once a long time ago.

It is not server problems, my internet does not have a problem either since Pokecommunity.com loads lightning quick even on dialup and loads even quicker on my T1 line.

What I am asking is...anyone else get this problem? Or is it just me. XD If it's just me...I'll feel specialll~

Not sure what (Is stuck in Newspro)
NewsPro won`t log me out, And Im not sure if a Staffie posted a news update that contained a .bmp file (Most likely they did).

There haven`t been any errors like this Since MC_Maple posted .bmp files and messed the site up back in July.

It takes 50 sec to load PPN... o.o... and my connection isn't a t1..

but when I load PC, it's lightning fast... (except uploading)

That's weird...PPN does load quick for me, it's just that only the top part loads. xD As you can tell from the screen shot I posted. >_>; That part loads in less than a second...but I'm pretty sure there is more to his website than just the banner and google ad...the news section and everything else is gone. I checked the source, and all the HTML in the source showed up, yet it doesn't display in the browser. weird eh?

Try downloading FireFox and see if it will work on there (PPN works fine for me).

It must be some bad coding then or something. *digs into the source*

EDIT: Works fine for me now. -_-

But if it was that then looks like it would do it on all browsers. And Stevie does he layouts to make it right with IE. It don't look like it would be something he didn't catch.

Most people use MSIE that I know of. I haven't even heard of what FireFox is. Lots of users are probably experiencing this problem...perhaps we should get him to look into it. I'm using Windows XP and Pentium 4 on a PC computer. Lots of people use this nowadays, for more people are bound to run into this problem. I don't think its a coding error...

EDIT: Wait...o_O; this time it says "still loading"...

EDIT2: WHOA...it loaded. o_O; It's like PPNSteve is psychic or something...*shudders* But it still took a long time to load even on this high speed line...

I think it must be just really, really slow. Maybe Steve should cut his HTML a bit, make it simpler instead of so image-heavy... maybe it's those javascripts as well.

I have to time Firefox... I only tried IE...

On Firefox, it took 43 sec to load. ~_~...

Configurations:

Virtual PC
Memory: 128 MB
6 GB Emulated HD
CD-rom Drive
Shared Internet Connection
Windows 2000

:P I think we should all stick with html and regular coding cause it rules and loads the fastest. Perhaps Steve should change his menu coding to something that loads faster...I don't think images are the problem.

(What Zapchu actually means: I have no hell how to use php or anything else so I'm stuck with html.)

It might be that script he uses to drop-down his menu that's playing up, but his menu is way too long if he takes it out... maybe take out all the game ads on the side. o_O

I have DSL and the PC loads 4 times faster than PPN.
*Agrees with Jedi_Amara, Way too many ads x_x*

I think I brought this up earlier on some other thread here. PPN has always been slow for me on IE (that's what I use), whether on a 56k or a 256k internet connection which I'm using right now.

Well im on Cable, 3.1Mbps Down/453 Upload and PPN loads fine for me, I have no problem. However I do experience this problem with www.vroad.net. It will load part way and die out on me :(

PPN has always been really slow for me, that's why I tend to avoid it... like the plague. o_O

Odd. PPN takes at least a good 5 minutes to load. I'm on dialup, but it shouldn't make that big of a difference. :x *bugs Steve to fix it* XP

Yea I timed it, 1 min and 40 seconds. That is loading PPN without having the images done loaded.

But yea if PPN takes a real long time to load not many people will want to go there. Because no one wants to wait 2 mins for a page to load.

It appears to be the topsite images at the bottom slowing it down!

That's what I was thinking. Stevie has like 20 topsite buttons down there. And it's slowing everything down (and he also has tons of images on the site).

The MAJORITY of the load time is your browser trying to render the page.. The under-lying HTML is fairly complex and with the tables added by the news, even more so.. Images play a much smaller role then you think (all mine are optimized) though the off-site stuff CAN slow it down..

When ur browser says 'done' it is infact done getting the data, images, etc... your wait (and mine, as i use IE as well and it does same to me) is for your comp and browser to generate/display the page.. only way for it to be faster short of a total rewrite of PPN is for u to use a faster computer.. (mines 900Mhz so i don't wanna hear "Oh but i have a 2.8Ghz P4," and so on..)

If you think you can recode PPN better and faster, send me your examples.. i'll defently look into using them ^__^

I’d just like to comment it loads very fast for me, but the layout is broken in Opera. o_x
In IE though I get what you guys are talking about.

Edit: Or...it could be I was letting it load and it just appears broken until it finishes. That is pretty bad though. @_@
