As for pronounciation of Gardevoir, Pokemon.com said it's like "gard(en)" + "(rese)voir". Of course, I still don't know how to say it, so verbally I always refer to it as "Sirnight", the Japanese name. ^^ Typing "Gardevoir" is no big deal.

I like Gardevoir because I like Kirlia, pretty much. And the reason I like Kirlia is a long story. The gist of it goes like this:

The time was after R/S's release in Japan, but before it's release everywhere else (ROMs don't count). I was at some Japanese fan art site when I saw this picture of Kirlia. It was amazing, I couldn't believe she was a pokemon (the picture's Kirlia was female). From then, I couldn't wait to get R/S for just that Pokemon. I also didn't know she was part of an evolutionary line. Once information was released, I learned about the other two, and thought the line was purely female, as that's what fan art would have me assume.

...lots of events that aren't important happened, mainly in just playing the game...

Months later, partly in boredom and in wanting to see more pics, I used Yahoo! Japan to see if I could find more wonderful pictures. Little did I realize I'd stumble across a obsessive Japanese fansite where everything was of Gardevoir's evolutionary line only. About 400 artworks submitted, 3 or 4 Oekakis dedicated to ONLY these 3 Pokemon, flash games, clay figures, hand sewn dolls... I could go on. Needless to say, while I liked Kirlia before, seeing this site put what I called an obsession to shame, and now I'm practically a hopeless addict to Kirlia and the others. The site really got me into liking the other two as well. And you'd be amazed too, if you didn't know they were Pokemon before hand, this site definately wouldn't have convinced you otherwise. Ralts, Kirlia, and Gardevoir can easily be put into any situation and you'd think they were part of some other anime.

That's my story, and yes, that is the short version. XD

I completely missed the question on telling males and females apart. I'm pretty sure you could easily tell them apart if they actually existed. However, sprites aren't going to give anyone a good idea of what anything looks like. The anime is usually good, but whoever does the drawings for the show does not like to stray from the concept art too much (this is both good and bad, while overall good, it hinders the idea of diversity among the same species of Pokemon. Adding three strands of hair doesn't count. :P )

This is the best topic I can think of.

First off, for any newcomers, answer the previous question; Why do you like Gardevoir, and do you have any nicknames for it?

New Topic: Let's say you have any member of the Ralts family living in your home (they can be caught or take residency sorta like Delia's Mr. Mime). What would be your perception of them? Are they still a Pokemon or more like a family member? Another thing, how would you expect them spend their free time, or helping out around the house?

I'm not really good a trainer based questions (^^; ). That's the best I could come up with. Use my answer as an example if it seems confusing.

I can imagine Ralts and Kirlia as being the eqivelent of little sisters, and Gardevoir being more maternal. Ralts generally would seek attention, but would also be helpless, and doesn't like being alone. She'd probably get into a lot of trouble. Kirlia would either be the same (except the trouble part), or she'd be closed off to others and a bit of a loner, lacking self confidence. Either way, she and Ralts would get into arguments, but Ralts would usually win them being younger.

Gardevoir would be like a Godmother, nanny, or something. Probably cleans up when everyone else is working or at school. Possibly overprotective, as it is her nature. Aside from that, she'd help with problems, being a smart psychic type, she could do anything from simple math to filing legal papers. Lastly, she'd pretty much be the guardian of the house. I'm thinking she could create barriers and the like to contain or block disasters such as tornados, burgulary and fire.

That's that. It probably seems a bit boring, but I'd like to see how people would imagine them domestically. Next time, I'll probably apply the same question for the life of a trainer. Things can really change around, then. ;)


OH! Another thing.

They probably trash the Shedinja, thinking it doesn't do anything. I mean, if you didn't know better you'd do the same, or keep it and put it under glass if you're a bug fanatic.

Anyway, although Colloseum (or however it's spelled) shows it as Ralts's legs, it's just a 3D model, and they probably don't expect too many people to care. I think it's a skirt as well.

Anyway, in response to the topic before, I hope May catches Ralts, because Ralts through Gardevoir are definate contest potential. Besides, notice how they have not given anyone in the Ralts line any specific episode in the anime yet.

As for the more recent topic, it probably wouldn't be hard to catch considering your attitude. If you're a kind good hearted trainer, it'd probably want to be around you. If you're negative or thinking of using Pokemon abusively, you'll most likely never see one as they can teleport away like Abra. You will, however, attract a lot of Shuppet. ;)

I have an easy way to catch ralts just go where you usually find it and when a pokemon comes up keep pressing down on the dpad but only when the screen is black and RALTS should appear if not its your timing.
NOTE: only female RALTS Appear

This is because:

Oh, another thing:
-The green thing on Ralts' head is a helmet. On Kirlia and Gardevoir, it's part of a device used for amplifying their powers, I'm pretty sure.
-Gardevoir is pronounced GAR-de-vwar. It's basically a French pronunciation.

Still, though, I thought the horns where the part that amplifies the Psychic power, not the green-hair stuff. It really does look like a helmet on Ralts though. It's the only reason I'm not 100% sure.

They would show it soon. Only pokemon that wasn't in anime in Jhoto ( not including legendaries) was Crocnaw, Fluffy an porygon 2. That's all the three that i could think of. So basically they will show Gardevoir soon because Ash already beat Tate and Liza ( Japan ) and they haven't shown Gardy.

I'd like to make some sort of cartoon for R/K/G, but nothing's coming to me.

Anybody have some suggestions? It doesn't have to be a big deal, it can just be a looping 5 second animation for all I care, I just wouldn't expect anything to be over 2 minutes, though. That in itself would take quite a bit of time.

pokemon dash REALLY ruins ur touch screen. ussualy u r pikachu but ur racing munchlax, eowth, torchic, bulbasor and tediursa. its like connect the dot. there is an order of which pokeball u need to touch. all the racing is in the touch screen so u need to keep rubbing the pen on it. overall it is fun but i want to be munchlax.

Well if you ask me, it's about time. And there better be a darned good reason for saving it this long (especially if it technically should've been between the 3rd and 6th episodes), like someone catches it or the animation is spectacular. Being busy is what I'm best at (that's both good and bad). It's unfortunate in a way that I'm always here at awkward times, though. And with that animation I'm doing for this club, I've got a bit on my hands to do. I was here yesterday, just for your information. But don't think I'm giving up on this club, because unless there was a Nidoran or Chikorita club I probably wouldn't join many others.

As for the theme park, I've heard of it and it sounds like one of those ideas you know would ONLY work in Japan. I'd love to go, though. The only drawback I seem to feel would be that there'd be to much focus on popular Pokemon like Pikachu (obviously) and Jigglypuff. Then tougher ones like Charizard and Absol, and then throw in a mix of legendaries like Kyogre and Mew. Doing so will leave out pokemon no one thinks about like Tangela, Qwilfish, and...something else (what can I say? Even I don't remember a whole lot of them, pretty much all Johto Pokemon).

Edit: Maybe it would work outside of Japan, but probably still located in Asia somewhere. A high success rate in the UK or the US is very dubious.

Man, so many subjects tossed about, and very little get any "closure".

First off, while I could give a look at how it's coming, it's not gonna happen. If anything I've always stuck by is never giving out any information until the finished project.

Second, I would assume WoW works better, but I'm not very strategic minded. ^^;

Third, pretty much answered, Munchlax is the only 4th gen Pokemon revealed at this time. I sorta think they're overdoing it though, sorta like with Togepi, considering I highly doubt Munchlax learns anything special (in other words, it's probably another filler character).

Lastly, I don't technically know what those "spikes" on Gardy are, but in most cases in fandom (mainly Japanese...pretty much ALL Japanese), they're ears of sorts, so I just agree with the masses, not that I have much choice. I think I've seen Gardevoir drawn by about...two different people outside of Japan, and that's not counting myself. And you would think with it's design... ahhhh whatever.

Well, two things off the tope of my head:

-I just went shopping today and came across three little miniature figurines of the whole Ralts line! I got them... The Ralts ios tiny, only about a fourth of an inch tall, Kirlia's twice as big, Gardevoir's a litle over an inch tall... OK, I'm so excited I could rant on and on...

-I also noticed something about the Pokemon Advanced Challenge theme song. Gardevoir appears in it!!! If you look after the part where Pikachu stands on Ash's shoulder, and the guy sings "to listen to that voice inside", Combusken runs for a second or two, and then Gardevoir appears, for a very brief moment, before it disappears behind a Hariyama... X_X

That's the end result of Gardevoir plus fanservice.

In any case, they tend to have more fun drawing the Ralts line because they go beyond the boundries of them being just Pokemon. It's more exciting to look at then the official art. What am I saying, ANYTHING is more exciting than the official art.

I've got about a collection of over 2000 pictures, pretty much from one site (the same site I spoke of earlier), and once you get used to those it's kinda hard to go back (to viewing the original concept). Still, I wish people outside Japan were that obsessed had that kind of dedication.

Now for my life history.
It all started in early 2003 when the forecoming of the English Pokemon RS was comming out. By then, I saw all the art of the new pokemon and some caught my eye, including Gardy. But it wasn't my obcession after that, it was Marshtomp. Fast-forward a few months, that obcession was slowly getting replaced by my growing obcession with Gardy (and the other 2 line members). I was collecting pictures of her every now an then, checking Mewheart.com's oekaki for any pictures I like, especially Gardevoir. It wasn't until late Janurary that I died and gone to heaven, but came back. I came to a Japanese site with oodles of pictures with stuff ranging from many different subjects. 'Battles', 'Males', 'Around the World', 'Charm'...even holidays where part of it. And over a month, I saved over 600 pics from that site alone. Up until now, That pic count is near or over 2000. Including stuff from oekaki, that site, my stuff, ect. It's still going strong as of now.

There is probably more to this, but that's all I can think of...

I've heard a couple of theories of Teleportation, not just involved in Pokemon, but in other cases where it's used as well. One common theory is that teleportation is nothing more than a being moving at light speed. When moving that fast, everything else does not seem to move. The problem with this is that the being in question would have to avoid colliding with anything during this phase.

Another theory is that the being creates sort of a worm-hole or interdimensional rift if you will that alters space and time around them. Usually in this case, the hole is created, and said hole is used to travel to a desired location. A variation of this is using oneself as some sort of device to tear through space and time. In this case, the body just disappears. According to the Pokemon anime, this seems more likely as the bodies tend to fade out as opposed to disappear lighting quick like, say, Pikachu in Smash Bros. using Quick Attack.

I think I rambled on enough up there. I wonder who'll find the time to read that? Those theories don't belong to me, by the way. I'm just summarizing stuff I've seen from various forums.

At any rate, what do you mean by arm movements, Poliwhirl? The typing, head resting on palm, etc? Whatever the case, the way I do it is to just watch a whole lot of cartoons, and see how they move. You don't want to over complicate things by drawing a bunch of unnecessary frames.

That's bad. I'll admit it. I've never really been able to explain how I'm able to do this stuff. But honestly, though, watch a lot of cartoons and do a frame skip (if you have them on DVD or VHS). You can learn a lot by that alone.

What I meant by 'terrible pictures' is those 'childish' ones you where talking about. Mosty the ones to spam up an oekaki, I seen that on this one oekaki...and it was just bad, spam everywhere. :dead:

And I like those 'dark themed'/realistic pictures, it a break from those happy-peppy pictures everywhere. Heck, if you went further in my DA gallery you see 'self-mutilation Gardy' from 27 kabillions years ago. I kinda-sorta like that stuff... :confused:

At any rate, what do you mean by arm movements, Poliwhirl? The typing, head resting on palm, etc? Whatever the case, the way I do it is to just watch a whole lot of cartoons, and see how they move. You don't want to over complicate things by drawing a bunch of unnecessary frames.

That's bad. I'll admit it. I've never really been able to explain how I'm able to do this stuff. But honestly, though, watch a lot of cartoons and do a frame skip (if you have them on DVD or VHS). You can learn a lot by that alone.

Okay, it appears I don't have one of those darker ones saved (I thought I did... =( ...maybe that's not a bad thing), so I just compensated for something weird looking, but still neat.

I guess a deranged pic every now and then is a break, I don't mind them scary looking, just scary AND detailed human-esque at the same time (this isn't just adding a nose to one of the three). But the happy-peppy stuff is a great standard, considering you can't go wrong with it. Cute, cartoony, and in some cases, weird things are what I like most.

Jynx: Honestly, I don't know. The japanese like their fanservice, and I just mimic what I see. When it comes down to it, though, it seems worse when on Kirlia. Well, "worse" isn't the word I wanna use. How about "borderline"? Considering G.Voir has that green thing that looks like some sort of top, I guess it's a lot less visually "disturbing" then Kirlia. Being pure white at the top including her head, sometimes you really have to wonder what the intent was.

Of course, I'm one to talk... I haven't drawn a normal shaped Kirlia in ages, and I actually have to force myself to do it otherwise (unless it's some odd super deformed version). That doesn't happen with Gardevoir, I draw her a whole lot less so I'm not used to her.

Housyasei-san: Nah, you're good. However, none of those pics are anything that would make me shudder.

On a different note, you ever wonder if we should put up these pictures? I mean, we're not directly linking, and I don't know of the chances any of the artists will bother to come around, but still... I've avoided doing it before because it seems a bit disrespectful. However, I resorted to it later because I had to do something to keep this place moving.

I guess the problem I have with it is I don't want them to close down the site (again, albeit for remodeling the 1st time). That happens too much when people display art/media/etc. (usually outside of Japan) from the Japanese on some other site. Perhaps they know others are displaying their stuff (and they are) and just don't care, that'd be good, but it doesn't seem likely.

I was thinking how the fan base would be changed if Ralts/Kirlia had a split evolution. And so, I made a split evo for Kirlia: Madamsel (steal the name and die a horrendous death). Basically the Kirlia split evolution is like Poliwhirl's into Poliwrath or Politoed. I drew it 2 or 3 times, and yea, it looks feminine still. I might draw 2 versions of it; an improved version after the dissmissed version (which looked like a bastardization of poor Gardevoir) and a more masculine one and I let you choose which is better. I'll draw a better picture of them later.

So it goes like this:

I hate search engine fluctuations. One month your at the top, then the algorithms change and...bleh. It gets messy.

Anyway, a split evolution? It's possible but unlikely. But then again, strange things are always happening in the Poke universe. I wouldn't have a name for any male variants, but I would think he would look like one of those anime guys who still has the feminine eyes/face (such as a prince-knight type person). The "hair" would probably change slightly, and the "attire" would probably match that of a soldier.

Oh wait, that's thinking way too far into the official art. In that case, then the only change I can imagine would be the gown to something less frilly. Unimaginative? You bet.

Poliwhirl, yours reminds me of a dark variant of the family, but I wouldn't imagine them being in negative colors. ;)

It's just a gif of Kirlia slapping Kucheat around. It's kinda old, made around the same time my avatar was made. It took less than a day, which would explain why it's odd looking, but then again the style is supposed to be simplified.

In completely other news, it's my birthday tomorrow, so I'll be 21 (which for me, means absolutely nothing XP) by about 2:00 in the morning where I live. Meh, it's not very important news, but why not announce it anyway? ^∀^
