Hey guys,

Here is an idea that popped in my head while getting excited over this new Pokemon game.
I'd really love to see that they would make unique sprites for every Pokemon's egg. These eggs/sprites shall be based on what will hatch from the eggs.

They've already done it in the anime, they for example made special eggs for a Mudkip, and one we might all know: Togepi. I'd think this would be a cool enhancement for us breeders out there (like me).

I'd love to see how you guys think about it :D

The spoiler contains a link to Bulbapedia with information on Pokemon eggs.

I think it'd be something that'd be hard to implement but as Pokemon continuously evolves I could see it being possible. I think it'd work better from type to type though so only having 17 different types. I mean water type eggs can't vary that much between them.

I wouldn't mind since when I'm trading eggs to other people I often trade the wrong one since they all look the same.

That'd be cool but it'd be hard to do, like Waffle-san said. Also, imagine the egg getting a different cracking animation, like the pokemon coming out of the egg. Hard to do but thatd be super awesome.

Yeah it'll most likely be a hard job to do, but I think the result will be greatly appreciated :D

NOOOOOO I love my mystery eggs! That's the whole fun of sending your friend an egg!

I like the idea personally. The Eevee one May had was great. but we'll see what they do with Eggs.

i guess its cool... its not rly a necessary implement though. its also cool not knowing what pokemon ur going to get from an egg too.

This is something that would really personalize each and every Pokémon and really make those people who say that The Pokémon Company are running out of ideas and just recycling older Pokémon and basically meshing them together, for the most part, as far as concepts go. I really don't understand why so many people feel that way, because from what I've seen (yes, even with Mijimaru) is that each of them seem to be very different than any of the other Pokémon, which seems to be a daunting task when it comes to make a new game since there are so many Pokémon as it is, it seems to be really hard for people to assume that every one of them are going to be brand spankin' new. But yes! I would really, really love to see individualized Pokémon eggs per Pokémon.

They Should, For example take http://Gpxplus.net/ They have Eggs for even legendary pokemon and novelties! Nintendo can make at least pokemon that do hatch out of Eggs!

Yeah I just took a look at them and that's exactly what I was thinking of :D
I am already getting excited over something that doesn't even exist (yet :P)

That's a lot of artist work (and it costs money!). I mean they could do it if they wanted to, though I think it'd rob the game of all that "mystery" eggs come with.

I see what you mean, even though there are so little amounts of Eggs in the anime, they all have their own different looks, and that is unique, so it would be fun to have it like that.

In my opinion it would just ruin the randomness of hatching eggs. Sometimes eggs just pile up in my PC, and it's a lot more interesting when I don't know what's inside.

Logistically, this makes the most sense and those who want new pokemon eggs would be pleased with this change. I know I would be a big fan of it. It would also be a middle ground for people who don't want to lose the randomness of eggs, because you'd only know the type, not the exact species.

Yeah it'd be tough to make a unique design for every single first-in-its-evolutionary-chain pokémon but I could definitely see them making eggs a color that corresponds to their type like the TM discs, as Waffle-san proposed. That seems perfectly manageable to me but I doubt they'd go all out and design an egg for every single pokémon.

That would be wicked awesome. Not just Manaphy, I want all of them. Like in that episode (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/AG150) of the anime. It would be cool. (b")b

A cool idea but it be hard to do.

being able to differentiate between eggs, (other than the Date) would be a huge help to the big time breeder, but it would also kinda kill the mystery egg giveaway thing, since you could probably tell which poke it is or at least the type. if they do this at all that is. :)

But a Porygon egg looks VASTLY different from a Clefairy egg, as does a Togepi egg.

Fun fact:

The Happiny egg you receive in D/P version actually has a slightly different sprite from the other eggs you otherwise obtain.

But if it's not that neccessary that can have it left out.

[css-div="padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px; border-color: red blue; border-style:solid; background-color: #000000"]It'd be nice, but I won't accept. Mystery Eggs are mysterious. And if we imagine each egg is like 40x40 pixels, around 600 of these sprites won't be easy, especially that these spriters get paid, unlike us, and the Toy Soldier I created in TerraWorld that they ripped me off and used, with no credit to me. who aren't paid for ROM-Hack Sprites or Game Development. So, no, fat chance.[/css-div]

Yes, this. :'D Well, I don't want them to literally take the designs (though it'd be SO hard to get used to a new "official" set of eggs after completing my non-legend dex on GPX+ xD) but I LOVE the idea that GPX+ ran with. I love looking at eggs and trying to guess what's inside.

I think it'd be neat if you could just find eggs lying around in the region, like abandoned outside of Pokémon nests or something, and pick them up and wander. You might not know exactly what's inside but the patterns on the outside of the egg could be a hint. :D Something like that would be pretty cool but I wouldn't see the use for it otherwise. u_u

Alternatively, still pulling ideas from GPX+, each egg could have an extra description. So not only does it tell you how far along the egg is, but there could be a personalized description for each egg. That way you could still tell what an egg was by checking its summary but otherwise, if you're just grabbing randomly from a box, you can still do mystery eggs giveaways.

Individual Eggs would be so much easier, then I wouldn't have accidentially traded away my Bonsly when I was trying to give my friend a Dratini

What if they did what they did with Spinda, Turning it so random spots appear on the egg, maling almost every egg unique?

To me... that'd be crazy. like 600 pokemon sprites, male and female, and male shiny and female shiny, (dont know the number of families, or legendaries to subtract but still) alot of different eggs, (hundreds i'd presume...) , All the AI, all the overworld sprites and pokemon, All the talking lines, not to mention the Amazing 3-D graphics, all the items and their effects, ect. Thats alot on one one by one inch cartridge...

i know, i probably exxagerated but i dont think they would customize that many eggs lol

thatd be awesome, it'd also bear more resemblance to the anime.

I think it would be cool like on pokemon channel you have that tv show where they show you a pokemon egg and you can chose 1 out of 4 names of pokemon (preselected) and if you get it right you get money.Maybe to make thing more fun when you know what pokemon might be in your egg, they would show a old egg icon where nobody knows what there trading for.

Currently there would 213 different eggs (including known Gen V Pokemon, excluding Manaphy, but not Phione and counting Mr. Mime and Mime Jr., etc. as the same egg design).

I would love to see this happen. There could still be an eldement of surprise if you don't take time to memorise the egg designs. But really, you should know what's in an egg anyway, unless you did that egg swap thing. And mixing up eggs in the PC can get annoying.

I don't think it would be too much work for them. They're all just eggs, ~250 (by the time Gen V is factored in) recolours shouldn't be much work; compared to say, animating them or drawing out-of-battle sprites.

Yeah each egg could have an animation xD Like the water egg could have a huge splashwave comming outwards, and an electric egg could be a lightning fork stucking down onto the egg :3

Like everyone is saying, that'll be really hard to do...

Its a good idea, but so late in the series, it'd be a lot of work. I like the types idea. Blue for water, red for fire, ect. Just use the same colors they do for the little type title things.

It would be nice, but I doubt that they would do that. It'll probably be the same sprites for eggs in the other games.

I'd love this. It's make it a whole lot more fun to hatch eggs.

Plus, when you get the Mystery Egg from some NPC (c'mon, we all know there will be one), it'll be cool to imagine what Pokemon it will be.
