well my parents computer has a virus and they have nortons but it doesnt find any viruses when they scan the computer. its one of those fake antivirus scams. i tried going on to the internet to download avg and malwarebytes but it wont go to any website besides the one to buy there fake antivirus and the ones that it pops up randomly.
they also only have internet explorer on their computer.

so anyone have any suggestions which would help? thanks in advance

This is a handy tool, and if well since you're posting here, download avira or avast(they do a much superb job compared to avg) and malwarebytes.

And if your parents are the type to freak out because a program is free from an unknown source, Microsoft has a capable free one that is also better than AVG. It's called Microsoft Security Essentials. It is easier to use than either Avira or Avast!, too, but Avira and Avast! have slightly better detection rates.

ya they are the type that freak out over anything free on the internet. so they have taken it to geeksquad to get if fixed. even though i could have fixed it for free :/ o well thanks for the help

A mirror is a site that hosts the same content as the original site for various reasons. A lot of malware blocks anti-malware sites, so try downloading it from there instead.
