I've been watching the anime for a while, and I found some oddities of the pokemon animes compared to real life, which are:

How come can a 10 year old kid leave home and begin his journey to the League, take care of pokemon and such, when they haven't even finished their education? In my country, a 10 year old kid is at around 5th or 6th grade Elementary.

What do they eat? Sure, they eat Brock's cooking, but what about their ingredients? I'm guessing that they come from pokemon, quoting from May: I'm so hungry I could eat a Tauros.

So, any other theories?

Are you serious? Its a childrens tv show...
Yeah I watch and love it... But still... not everythings going to make sense is it?
Anyway's its based on the games sooo... yeah... they just do whatever the game does and sorta improvise... I like the "I'm so hungry I could eat a Tauros." thing though lol but then again it could just mean somthing like the saying "im so hungry i could eat a horse!:
Miltank, touros - Beef XD
Swinub, piloswine, spoink and grumpig - Pork XD (I don't think mamoswine would let someone cook it XD
Pidgey, starly, tailow - pidgeon (yes people eat pidgeon.... No, I don't XDXDXD)

Yeah, I think it makes sense to not mention it to the viewers. Especially when the show is targeted for children. But still, for the education part...
I'll go wild and say it. What if they start 1st Grade Elementary at age 3, then 2nd Grade at age 4, and so on?

I don't really even think they go to schools? There are some in the games and theyve visited some in the anime but I think thats only if you want to know even more about pokemon and to be prepared before you go on your journey! Whats a kid gonna learn at the age of 3 in 1st grade? They probably teach them how to trow a pokeball... but the children just end up chewing on the pokeballs instead XD

Okay here we go...
It's a kids anime. Kid shows never make sense anymore and they don't have to because it's for KIDS!!! If it was a kid to do school work and eat vegetables before he could play with his Pokemon then that would be fun! :\
They pick berries from trees. I see them pick the stuff all the time. And again who cares, it's a freaking show.
It's fiction, it's fake, it's not real life.

I think that there are some kids who actually do study and go to school. I remember that Phantom trainer from Hoenn who used to be forced to stdy by his mom for his education but he really just wanted to be a Pokémon Trainer like his dad.

Perhaps it's because you only need a 5th grade education to get around in that world. We're talking about a place where no one seems to mind strangers in their homes. A place where 10-year olds are the toughest people around. A place where you can get struck by lightning, scorched by fire, and frozen yet still walk away with no severe injuries. In their world you don't even need to worry about how many items you can fit in your backpack.

This always gets me. XD I've been rewatching the first series over the past week & at one point Ash asked "what's a carnivore?"... I facepalmed. :tired:

I never watched that episode though, but I think the anime makes him ask that so that some of the younger children that watches the anime can understand what "carnivore means" (No offense).
But yeah, it IS a children's show, and it is fiction.
BTW: Feel free to post other oddities of the anime if you have some.

There's animals in the Pokemon world. We've seen dogs, bugs, and birds. Chances are there's pigs, cows, etc.

There is? Can you tell me which episode those animals were shown?
