Fire Red and Leaf Green Confirmed News Thread.

Here I will post confirmed updates and news known so far for the new GBA Games coming out, Fire Red and Leaf Green.

First of all, Fire Red and Leaf Green are basically just a remake of Pokemon Versions red and blue released several years ago. Being a remake, though, you can expect much better graphics than the Red and Blue original games.

So far, the only known obtainable pokemon that can be caught in FR and LG are the orignal 150, Bulbasaur to Mewtwo. Johto Pokemon will be obtainable through trading from Colleseaum once it comes out in March. Houenn Pokemon can also be obtained by trading from GBA Gamecarts. In other words, FR and LG will be tradeable with Ruby and Sapphire.

In FR and LG, the three starters will be the same as the old Red and Blue game carts; Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. The orignal eight gyms will also be in FR and LG, along with choosing your gender at the start of the game.

The release date for FR and LG is confirmed to come out January 2004 in Japan. The release date for the US is believed, but not confirmed, to come out around May, or early to mid summer.

That is all of the Confirmed details from FR and LG. To sum it all up:

~ Remake of the orignal Red and Blue

~ Better Graphics or simmiliar graphics to that of Ru/Sa

~ Catchable pokemon in the game are 1-151. Johto Pokemon ( 152-251) ) can be obtained by trading from Collesem. And Ru/Sa pokemon can be obtained by trading from Ru/Sa.

~ You will choose at the beginning for your starter between Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle, along with the gender you would like to play as.

~ Original eight gyms, though the gymleaders may and probably will have different pokemon, or different pokemon than before.

~ Release date for Japan is Janurary 2004, and the release date for the US is unconfirmed at this point, but speculated to be around Mid 2004.

As soon as more info or news is confirmed, Ill make sure to add it in here, so check back often. I will just edit new info in on this first page.

By the way, Fire Red and Leaf Green are the confirmed names.NOT Water Blue.

Questions must be asked in the various threads available.

There's at least a few threads for spectation and such. I'm afraid we don't need more.
I'll close this, but keep it stickied for anyone who needs to see this, as it is a local source of information we need.

Dude, I'm sorry about that, but I swear I didn't copy from your site. I don't even know what your site is called or the URL and such. I was going to call this the FR and LG FAQ, but I didn't that was on SPP, so I was trying to be original. In fact, I doubt any of the info I have was close to yours, because like I said, I came up with this all on my own. I even have the rough draft I typed on word if you'd like to see. So please to not falsly accuse me of things that I have not done.

Like I said, this is obviously a coinidental happening. Most of the info I had already known anyways from my friend Ledian X who also wrote a FAQ on this. But that was called "FR/LG Advance FAQ", which would have been my first choice for naming this thread. And thank you for the opinion, Dizzy, but there are some who come here that might not go to other sites.

So in other words, I fail to see how it is wrong to have the basic confirmed data on FR/LG posted in this Forum for people who actually come here.

This is not a speculation thread but a factual one for people who actually want to know about the game. But I will leave it closed to prevent such speculation as you said.

I will also change the Thread Name, but I don't plan on taking this down, being as I got the info from my own sources. Might I ask for the url of your site with this info to compare and see if it is really even the same?

Thanks

This thread is where the moderators will post any new news about the games. You may discuss them in the "4th Generation Speculation".

Anyway, a few discovered features: (information typed by me and put onto pmtn v6, my website)
- Text has been made more easier to read, and a bit more larger.
- There is a Tutorial Mode (Help Function), activated by tthe L button when on the main map.
- You have an older brother who teaches you things about the game (Help Function).
- When you enter an area, like a cave or forest, the area "shows up in you", or you see the scenery of the area (the first-person point-of-view) for a few seconds.
- A new helpful version of the PokDex is obtainable along the way. This PokDex records more than just the Pokmon, this time it displays items obtainable in areas, the number of a Pokmon you've caught, and more.

There's a new mode called Help Function. To load it simply press the L button while on the map and you'll get into this mode. There, you can choose a function:

Then after selecting it, your big brother will assist you in the choice you selected,

or a demonstration of what you need to do will show up.

EDIT: New information I typed and made available off pmtn.
Wireless Function

Pokmon Fire Red and Leaf Green introduce a new function, that has capabilities established with the Game Boy Advance Wireless Link. In fact, Fire Red and Leaf Green is expanding with them. Here's to name a few.

Remember this article anyone?

Game Boy Advance Users May Go Wireless
Nintendo unveils wireless device that allows users to play each other without cables.
September 26, 2003: 7:07 AM EDT MAKUHARI, Japan (Reuters) - Japanese video game company Nintendo Co. Ltd said Friday it plans early next year to offer a device that allows GameBoy Advance users to play games together without the use of cables.
The device will be included free of charge with the purchase of one of two "Pokemon" games, due to be released early next year, for Nintendo's hand-held game machine.
"We've had a lot of discussions about how to extend the networking capabilities for games such as 'Pokemon', to enhance head-to-head battles, exchange of information and communication with others," said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata in a speech on the opening day of the Tokyo Game Show.
The wireless module will be bundled with Nintendo's "Pokemon Fire Red" and "Pokemon Leaf Green" titles for GameBoy Advance that will go on sale in Japan early next year. The games will sell for 4,800, or $43.
Nintendo said it planned to roll out other titles for the GameBoy Advance compatible with the device in the future.
Motorola Inc (MOT :Research ,Estimates ). designed the chip that powers the device's wireless functions.
"It was designed primarily with the gaming experience in mind," Bridgette Cosentino, director of wireless connectivity at Motorola's semiconductor products group, told Reuters. She said the chip was customized to maximize battery life.
Iwata said the technology was similar to Bluetooth, which allows devices to communicate with each other without a physical wire connection. The wireless network extends for "several meters," Iwata said.
The most recent "Pokemon" title for GameBoy Advance sold over 10 million titles worldwide, Nintendo said.
Shares in Nintendo ended up 2.33 percent at 9,670 compared to a 0.08 percent rise in the Nikkei 225 average.

Nintendo has made a lot out of these wireless features. Here's a sneak preview at some:

http://pmtn.aqua-network.com/pokemonfrlgimages/fireleaf02_01.gif
You will be able to navigate in a new room upstairs in a Pokmon Center, the Wireless Room. You will see people, some of who represent the people nearby who also have a Game Boy Advance, Fire Red and Leaf Green, and a Wireless Link.

http://pmtn.aqua-network.com/pokemonfrlgimages/fireleaf02_02.gif
Talking to a person who represents the person nearby you will bring up some options. You can choose to battle them or go into conversation with them. Trade will possibly be implemented.

The people will respond to you with their chosen greeting.

You can also chat with the people around you. Send some messages to them, since it's as simple as your home AIM/MSN/Yahoo!/IRC chat. Although it has a mini-keyboard selectable with the control pad. Select is used to switch the characters, in this case the current selection is Hirigana characters. So just press Select to switch to Katakana, or English characters. In our case there will be capital letters, lowercase letters, and numeral characters to chat with.

Mr.Winstrate, can you please edit Ms. Altaria's post? She has written "The Fire-Red Leaf-Green Info Center Thread" of which "The Fire-Red Leaf-Green Info Center" is the name of my website. Can you please change it to something else? Or else may I have power over this thread as it says it is my website's official thread?

Well I found more information about the new games. It will be posted on pmtn soon. And anybody can use this information.

Pokmon Fire Red and Leaf Green are staged in the Kanto region. But the adventure continues - there are several islands far from Kanto, it seems. Continuing your adventure, you will soon set foot there. At the new islands. As for name of the islands you ask? How many new islands are there? With them hiding something? With some new Pokmon who have lived there? The secret which spreads to the world of Pokmon, waits for you!

Some world waiting? Expectation increases.

There is a mini-game where Pokmon participate. As for the mini-game there are 2 types, each of them being a simple and pleasant game. Using the radio communication of the wireless adapter which bundled with Pokmon Fire Red and Leaf Green, you can play with 2-5 people in those mini-games.

With Pokmon "Rope Jump" is a rope game that you play and jump with everyone. When timing of jump of everyone is done correctly, you can gain a high score. It is important to time your jumps right.

This game's objective is to catch a large quantity of fruit with the three heads of Dodrio.

That's all, but watch this thread!
