I personally don't like vB. It has too much usless features that aren't necessary for forums. phpBB is the best forum out there, in my opinon, since it's not bogged down with usless features. Anyway, Invison toke down their free trial version of the forums and now put a very restricted free trial version. So say something like how Invison used to do it. Jelsoft might get confused and put a free version of vB with a very restricted features. That would be bad for all of you who like vB. Of course, this is just a suggestion.
EDIT: I sign it to help you out. :D

Why? Just go out and buy one if you want it so bad.
Or test the admin panel. They have a demo set up.

I honestly think this is a good idea
I personally feel that vBulletin is a great product. I admin a board and just love it (link removed). I was wondering WHY it (vBulletin) is so expensive. And why Jelsoft doesnt Zend encode it (vBulletin) and release a trial version I think this would bring new customers and such. I hope to own my own license someday.
Hope you consider my idea... :D

Actually, you can get a forum pretty close to a vBulletin for free. There's one called myBB that is still in development, but the final version is coming out next month. It has pretty much the same features as vBulletin. I'm thinking about switching WCF when the Gold version comes out.

It's not even put out a final release. o_O;; It looks like it'll be real good once the final comes.
And vBulletin won't come out free: because the files are easily changed, there would be no way of making it so that the trial wouldn't be abused.

It's a bit buggy, but the bugs should be worked out in the final release.

Yay! <3 Mybb shall rule the world. I mean..
Its fully customisable,
It's not that confusing,
You can add links easy,
Colors are simple though you may have to code a few at times
Mulitple skins can be a pain for those with headers taht link to multiple sites, other then that its good. And I just thought of a way to fix that.

You can download it now. It's still a decent forum even now in RC4.
