OK, I'm trying to hatch a female Eevee from my Ditto and male Eevee, I've hatched six eggs so far, and all male (with bad natures to top it all). The question is: Is there a better place to hatch eggs on FireRed than Cycling Road? Eevee takes horrendously long to hatch...
It was funny when I typed it.

where it hatches doesnt chnge the fact that that itll be male/female and the best place is island 4 so u can get the next egg quick oh it took me bout 8 eggs to get female

i have found that the best place to hatch eggs is just outside the daycare centre in Ru/Sa. it has a long stretch of road between route 117, mauville city, and route 118. several straight minutes of mach bike riding, and an egg is hatched

Erm... I said FireRed, you know. I could technically trade the egg to Colosseum and then to Sapphire and hatch it there, but I'd have to do that again for each egg I try to hatch, making it not very practical.
And pokemunna, the reason I mentioned the female thing was to tell you that I'm hatching a lot of eggs, not that I think it affects the gender, and hatching on Island 4 is not good - the island is too small. You need some kind of a long road on which you can simply get on your bike and hold down the directional pad.

Chance of a female Eevee is 1 in 8 (12.5%), so just keep trying til you get the right one. Gender is determined as soon as you get the egg, not when it's hatched, and I believe they take roughly 9,000 steps to hatch.
The easiest thing to do besides this is to save just before you get the Eevee in Celadon, check if it is female or male, and restart until you get a female. I got lucky and found a female first time :-)

Or, you can just save right before you get the egg, hatch it, and if its a boy, restart the game right back to before you get it...

Considering it takes me 2-3 days to hatch an Eevee egg (still waiting on mine at the moment, 2 days after getting it, and training for about 5 hours each time), you'd have to have a spare set of batteries for each time you wished to do that. It's easier just to keep the male anyway, in case you need them for breeding moves around the Ground egg group or out of it.

then trade a ditto to sapphire and breed them there. i am having a lot of success breeding metagross, jynx, kabutops, and others using that strategy

Yes, but Dragonfree is not a cheater, so that's a useless suggestion.

I agree with the best bet is save before you get the Eevee in Celadon (that's what I did o.o)

OK, I've hatched ten or eleven Eevee now, and they're all male. x_x I did find a good way to hatch in FireRed, though - I go on the bike down Cycling Road, east through Fuchsia and north all of Silence Bridge, into Lavender, left and through Saffron to Celadon and then down Cycling Road again. Each is around 1100 steps, so it takes about eight such circles to hatch one Eevee.

My hatching run takes me from Cerulean City (I usually level train in Cerulean Cave, although I'm using Colosseum a lot more for levelling now), down through Celadon, across to Cycling Road, then through Fuschia, up as far as Route 13, left to Vermillion, and then north to Cerulean again. And if I need a bit more distance, I go up to Bill's House and back once or twice. I hatched Eevee in 3 runs, and a lot of other Pokemon in a lot less time like Tyrogue and Lapras.

I like going in the safari zone and looking for rare pokemon, but that costs a lot because you have to go in soooo many times, and I use cycling road like you said, and I dump my escape ropes and navigate some of the trickier caves. Yup, nothing unusual.
