I started re-watching the Kanto series from episode 1 all the way up.. and I got to relive one of my most favorite moments. Where Ash was in danger of being attacked by the Spearow and Pikachu gets up, running towards him, and jumps onto his shoulder.. then uses his Thunder to save Ash from the mass attack. The two then awoke laying together and Ash smiled at Pikachu and said "well.. we did it.."

At that moment, I remembered why I fell in love with Pokemon. Despite the childish atmosphere and aim, the anime is extremely deep. It shows the immense value of friendships, the trust between two, and the care that is so very hard to come by these days in the real world. One thing is for certain, I'll never forget all of those dearly beloved moments. <3

And Misty lovers, try not to get too touchy.

I lol'd.

But yes i am a huge fan of Misty (i know, gasp!). When she left that was when i actually quit watching the anime. I dunno, it just seemed to lose its appeal and the "originalness" feel it once had. I was younger back then so i was really quite upset when she did leave. XD

Anyway, speaking of "trio". I just watched episode 31 Dig Those Diglett and found myself grinning rather alot. That was one my fav episode, not only because i love Koffing and it evolved, but also because of the whole "diglett dig diglett dig trio trio trio" thing haha. XD

Hmm... even before I got into Advanceshipping, when Misty left it didn't bother me at all. It was a nice change I think because I simply didn't like her personality (Remember this is through 10 year old deduction, which is very messed up). Although, I don't remember my thoughts exactly, because I was on a hiatus for new episodes of Pokemon because I never had any idea when or where they aired until after the Jotho League.

But omg, I still remember when I was like 7-9 years old when I would go freakin crazy over watching the original series just because it was Pokemon. I remember I cried once when my mom didn't let me watch Pokemon when it aired during evenings in Cartoon Network like a looong time ago. I can't even bother counting the years. But as I was exposed to the internet and my reasoning developed, my opinions changed. Right now I am simply not 1% of a fan of the original series (1% might be an understatement also, recall that I tantrumed when I didn't watch Pokemon).

Yet, I feel like I grew up without a childhood because it was because of the earlier series of Pokemon contributed with my childishness that I suffered severe bullying at elementary school. All I know is that back then had joy mixed in with the pain of being socially different, and I dropped trying to bother remembering much of those days. Also contributive to why I'm not such a fan anymore and why I have not a positive like for Misty. Of course, I couldn't drop Pokemon alltogether, but after I set my maturity on semi-decent track during Hoenn, I must have just snapped out anything with the original series, because I refuse to look at myself during such immature days.

And, I guess that's my opening thesis on the original series, and how it impacted my life. I guess if I wasn't so different, I'd have a better sense of nostalgia, but for sure my academic situation would not be the same.

I loved watching Pokemon when I was younger. I'm still somewhat of a fan now, but sooner or later I'm going to watch every single Gym Battle up to this very moment. I watched bits and pieces of the Johto series and I missed out on 95% of the Hoenn track. But I started back up watching Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and I was shocked to see all different types of Pokemon and whatnot. But anyway, enough of me rambling.

My favorite episode by far in the original series would have to be hands down Holy Matrimony! I loved this episode because we find out James's background (nobody thought he would be from a wealthy southern family!) and his soon-to-be bride Jessiebelle, who looks just like Jessie. Plus, that Growlithe was beast. You know what? I'm going to watch that right now!

What made it even better was when Galactic Battles released The Treasure is All Mine! which brings back Jessiebelle among other things. It even shows how James got wrapped up in the whole situation and it gains constant points for accuracy. It was awesome!

Plus, that Growlithe was beast.
I still wonder every now and then why Growlithe had to stay back and couldn't travel with James. :\ I always thought the original series held back a lot when it came to Team Rocket. Which is disappointing since they could have brought out a lot in Team Rocket before.

I think the one thing for me is that the original series had a lot of, probably the most of, were touching moments. While comedy is the best thing, I sometimes miss those touching moments that the original series had. While the newer series has some, it isn't exactly the same for me.

Yeah, when Ash thought that he was going to leave Pikachu, the first episode where the friendship between Ash and Pikachu was forged when they were attacked by Spearow, when Ash got trapped in that crossfire in the first movie; those were all touching moments. I almost cried in that last moment I mentioned

I feel bad for the kids these days watching it because they never got to see what I saw. The orginal episodes were BY FAR the best!! 82 epsiodes in Season 1 were all masterpieces. They will never be forgoton. Best era in a my childhood. Those episodes made my childhood. I remeber all the kids going nuts at recess talking about the episodes and trading pokemon cards.

Its nice to run into a like minded person. I quit largely because of that too but still watch Kanto, Orange Islands, and Johto episodes to this day. Not to mention Misty brought a number of things to the main cast which vanished with her such as insight on several different things. Not to mention trying to give others courage and hope in their times of need.

Yes, everyone should give tribute to me, like a goat, or something.

Anyway, I'll address it this here. My apologies for not reading the forum much sooner, as my offsite blogging has been absorbing too much of my attention. Duly noted about the Episode Discussion issue, and I shall cease accordingly.

Meanwhile, for a topic, 10 years ago, the Orange Island arc was wrapping up, dub-wise. I never thought of it, at the time, but it was an essential arc for its uniqueness. Especially as Johto rot would soon be upon us. Heaven helped us, back then.

I watched up to episode 18 of Johto recently, and just got bored of the original series. IT was incredibly repetitive :/ Misty (and Brock) Where pretty much useless since they did almost nothing important, and barely even battled, despite being Gym Leaders.

Still, it has its moments. Anything with Charizard was going to be epic, and Chikorita was great too (I must have missed the episode where it pretty much kicked Charizard's ass years ago).

I just got done watching all 82 episodes of season 1 today. It took me a month and a half. I am 21 years old and boy did it bring back some memories. Guys I am going to be totally honest, i know that i am going to be biast because I grew up during this time frame but season 1 is BY FAR the best season out of the 13 seasons they have or whatever. They are soo many things that made that season the best. Ash battling brock and Misty for badges. Pickchu vs Raichu. Sabrina and Kadambra. Cinnabar Island. The Indigo league tournament. Richie vs ash at the end.(last episode chokes me up every time). The orginal 150 pokemon will always be the best. I hope that all the young Pokemon fans actually have seen season 1 because its not on television. If you havent, ask your parents for chrismas or your birthday to buy it for you or watch it online. That first season season of pokemon set the bar so high, that it could never get reached again. I am a little bothered by the end of the season because Ash lost to Richie because Charizard feel asleep. We all know that Charizard would have destroyed Richies Pikachu. I understand also thou it makes sense because Ash never tried to train Charizard and thats what he got for it. A question for all of you out there, Why was there 82 episodes in season 1 and all the rest only had around 30 episodes per season????

I know that all of you on here watch the new episodes and stuff and I respect you guys because its your opinion whther you like the new stuff or not but the first season can never be touched. The first 4 seasons were great but season 1 is legendary. I cant watch the new episodes because all the new pokemon are getting ridiclous and the new voices of ash and misty hurt me from watching and now I heard misty and brock arent even on the show anymore. whats up with that? i hope I didnt offend any of the younger pokemon fans on here but I just wanted to state my opinion.

Of course Misty isn't on the show anymore! You my friend have been living under a Patrick Star Rock! The girl in my theme is the current girl, and I think she tops Misty by a long run.

But oh well. If you don't like the new stuff, there ain't much worth complaining about it. Because there will be people who will love things for the exact same reason other people hate it. The only thing you can do about it is sit there and cry, or cope with it. You can also watch the Japanese anime! If you learn a bit, you'll learn a bit more and maybe enjoy it more than the dub.

And who the hell are you calling younger fans? There's plenty of old prunes that prefer the new stuff.

I would have to agree with you although a lot of it is down to nostalgia and the fact that it was the first series. I don't really think the quality of writing dropped too much, the show was aimed at younger kids therefore the repetitiveness isn't an issue.

Other than indigo i really liked the Jhoto League episodes, also i have really high hopes of Best Wishes from the first couple of Japanese episodes.

They are soo many things that made that season the best. Ash battling brock and Misty for badges. Pickchu vs Raichu. Sabrina and Kadambra. Cinnabar Island. The Indigo league tournament. Richie vs ash at the end.(last episode chokes me up every time).Try watching them in a years time once the nostalgia factor wears of. You realise they arn't as good as the other seasons. I mean they arn't bad but there are others are clearly better from a technical point of view. Obviously you like me (being the same age) grew up with the original so you'll always have some special affliation with which I have no problem with but I argue that had you not watched the first season when you were younger and instead decided to watch the ten seasons for the first time this summer you'd have a different opinion.

The pacing was awful, Ash making completely ridiculous decisions even for him, writing all over the place partly due the fact that the writers wern't sure about the longevity of the show at that moment. You should really watch the entire series before making such elevated opinions about the first season.

Most of us (well at least on this forum from what I can tell) arn't young Pokemon fans and have seen season one (we probably wouldn't be on here had we not).

We all know that Charizard would have destroyed Richies Pikachu. I understand also thou it makes sense because Ash never tried to train Charizard and thats what he got for it. I am a little bothered by the end of the season because Ash lost to Richie because Charizard feel asleep.Ash did try to train Charizard, it just wouldn't listen to him because it regarded him as too weak and unless Ash became Gym Leader material all of a sudden it still probably wouldn't have listend to him whatever he tried. It took a completely by chance moment for it to start listening to him and that was only because it realised how much Ash cared for it not because he was strong.

. A question for all of you out there, Why was there 82 episodes in season 1 and all the rest only had around 30 episodes per season???? Each other season has on average 50 episodes, with three seasons (4 for Sinnoh) encompossing each region, making about 150 episodes per region. The only reason Indigo has a lot fewer episodes is because the writers didn't have the foresight (Should have got a Noctowl ;)) to realise how sucessful the franchise would be when they first started constructing the anime so they rushed through bits in an attempt to tell the story before a possible cancellation. Hence the awful pacing at times. Had they known the levels of popularity it would attain, there would have been a lot more episodes, probably on the same levels as the other three.

I cant watch the new episodes because all the new pokemon are getting ridiclous and the new voices of ash and misty hurt me from watching and now I heard misty and brock arent even on the show anymore. whats up with that? They arn't getting ridcolous as Pokemon specimens go. There are few more weirder ones granted but the level of art and creativity has always been the same. I suspect you've lost the enthuasism and desire to follow them as eagerely as you did when you were younger which explains your apathy.

The change of voices wasn't ideal however on the whole they arn't any better or worse than the 4kids dub. It's more the initial shock factor which you just have overcome by watching more of the newer episodes. There are few voices I prefer on the 4kids version and a few I prefer from the newer version.

Brock and Misty have left. They'd been around for ages and as sidekicks they needed replacing to bring a new direction to the show as well as new material for the writers to work with it.

i hope I didnt offend any of the younger pokemon fans on here but I just wanted to state my opinion.Of course not, as long as you don't get offended by any people disagreeing with you.

Ahhh, the original series. I just started watching the series from the beginning, meaning I'm seeing some I saw as a kid, and some I didn't.

As I've been watching, I've been riffing on it whenever I can think of something. A few of my favorites:

EP009:
(Joe asks Giselle if he can keep her picture)
Me: [as Joe] I use it to... never mind.

EP011:
(The log cabin Pokémon Center is shown)
Me: Oh, it's the Pokémon Center Lincoln was born in.

EP058:
(Ash and co. find the entrance to Blaine's gym)
Ash: It's a door!
Me: Well spotted!

You know what's messed up? How pokemon messed up the whole series tradition. Don't you know the first episode of just about every pokemon season (except for Orange League). That pikachu would be overloaded with electricity and turn the female character's bike to a crisp. Well in pokemon best wishes they didn't do it. However in my opinion they should've kept brock. And just to think that at least 2 or 3 of the 8 badges ash got, were given (as never really earned it.) Let's review Boulder Badge, Brock gave that badge to ash even though pikachu's electricity had setted the sprinklers off on Onix. Cascade Badge, the only reason misty's sister gave the badge to ash was he helped saved the gym from team rocket. Soul Badge, ash didn't earn it through hard work. Technically Haunter earned for making Sabrina laugh for the first time. But her dad gave her the badge which is supposed to be the gym leaders job. Rainbow Badge ash didn't earn it only thing he did was save gloom from the burning gym. Earth Badge, team rocket took giovanni's place while he was gone with that shadowish pokemon(mewtwo). But it was unfair cause ash had it easy while gary had to face mewtwo. ash beat the pokemon giovanni gave to team rocket. The orange league second episode when ash was about to send out charizard misty and tracy said no.(error) tracy never knew ash had a charizard. And another thing Ash's age never was revealed and y don't you ever see ash's voice get deeper. So many errors to be fixed. correct me if i'm wrong. In pokemon dp galactic battle in the twinleaf contest. brock helped out at one of the stands. notice how a human is suppose to have 5 fingers on each hand, the artist accidently gave him 6 fingers on one of his hands.

I noticed alot of things too during my run through these past few weeks.

I am guessing that in the show, the fighting pokemon gym in Saffron is officially a gym? It showed the samurai earning his Marsh badge by beating a Hitmonlee in the episode "Bad to The Bone" So Ash is the only trainer to beat Sabrina I suppose.

Also the animator messes up Team Rockets clothes quite alot, one minute they have gloves and the next just long white sleeves lol.

I started rewatching the entire Kanto series a few days ago. I finished the Indigo Plateau episodes just last night and started on Johto. :3
Gosh how I missed these old days.. I don't care how bad and how cheesy the episodes are, they are all still so amazing. For Pokemon, I'll always be a kid at heart. <3

.. and Pikachu's Goodbye still manages to make me cry a river. ;~;

Well I haven't been watching much of Johto lately but I'm planning on watching Whitney's episodes here pretty soon. I've seen most of the starting episodes thousands of times over since I have them on tape, so I skipped most of those. ^^

Didn't really like Orange Island, mainly because it had Tracy (who's just as bad as Max and Dawn...woah off topic). Indigo Leauge was the best. Johto had a lot of filler, but what's wrong with filler, as long as it's funny?

A lot of people say it's only because of nostalgia and that we grew up with it, or it came first. That's a part of it, yes, but you'll notice that the writing has improved in Best Wishes, because they (I've heard) brought back the original writers.

Plus, just because Ash could actually suck at being a trainer in the early episodes, Team Rocket was a threat (especially Pokemon Emergency! and Here Comes the Squirtle Squad!), the supporting characters and Characters of the day weren't bland (most of the time), etc.

And this is kinda small, but did anybody else prefer the original coloring style over the new digital style? Oh sure, the new ones are brighter and look newer, but some colors changed (for the worse) such as Jessie's hair went from red to magenta, and Officer Jenny's went from blue to green-ish blue (I think). On top of that, Pikachu was actually cute back then. He was chubby (until Johto or Orange Islands), and he didn't just talk after Ash did. Now (in DP) he's basically like Piplup (off topic again?)....

Plus with the Indigo Leauge, 4Kids did a decent job. They didn't replace riceballs with sandwiches, they actually translated the signs instead of just leaving them blank, they tried harder with translation of dialouge (at least earler on), etc. And the music replacement was lower.

Additionally, I liked the older music better, too. Title Screen especially, the Raid! theme, Team Rocket's Motto theme, Kanto Bicycle Theme, Team Rocket Encounter, Route 1, not to mention the openings, and Pikachu's Jukebox/Pokemon Kareokemon. And I liked Who's That Pokemon? beter than Trainer's Choice (at least they got Who's That Pokemon right, as far as I can remember).

Just saw episode 35ish, Legend of Dratini or something... Good lord that was quite a shock to the system lol. I was never really big into the anime, but I remember a few episodes as a kid and... Guns? Hitler Meowth?? Seriously lol were all the japanese episodes this different than those viz media VHS tapes I have stowed in my basement? I've heard that 4kids watered it down a bit but... Hitler Meowth lol that's all I got to say.

I was kind of amused at how close Team Rocket's voices japanese voices were to the English versions though xD

I recently started watching the anime again after I got back into my SoulSilver game, and subsequently my White version. I thought, "Man, I wanna go back and rewatch some Pokemon episodes!"

Well, I worked my way through season one, which was a blast. when I was a kid that was as far as I got, but I'd like to watch further. However, I know that season two was just terrible--it was the reason I initially stopped. But i would like to watch some later seasons and whatnot.

But for now, I'd like to know if there are any episodes in Season 2 that are noteworthy. I watched up to episode three, where Brock leaves (EPIC POUTING MANEUVER), but now I have seen that the rest of the season is dumb.

Thanks! :)

A couple of them are a little odd, I mus admit, but a few of them are pretty enjoyable, especially more towards the end.

haha, "meh" is definitely a word I would use to describe this season, too. I just finished watching that episode between Ash and Drake, and it was a really good match. I enjoyed it immensely.

Once the season really gets going, it does get better. But I wish Ash didnt always release his good Pokemon--like right now, he's gonna release his Lapras. :( And previously, he released his newly-evolved Pidgeot.

Perhaps I was quick to judge. Thanks, guys.

Well look at this, Orange Island discussion. Lemme savor this moment while I move this on over to the Original Series Discussion sticky over in the Episode Discussion forum.

I have to admit, the Orange Islands was one part of the anime that I actually didn't follow up on too well. After the Indigo Plateau, I kind of lost track of the show until the Advanced Generation when Hoenn took place.

Ooooh, my bad! I'm sorry if I placed this in an incorrect subforum. :( I did search other forums and tried to place my question in the most appropriate one. I wanted to discuss the series as a whole, not a specific episode, so I thought this was the most appropriate. Sorry again! ^^;

Just realized something while re watching old Kanto Pokemon.

Ep. 49 so far yet so farfetch'd Jessie has 2 pokemon, arbok and lickitung
HOWEVER, lickitung isn't caught until episode 52 princess vs. princess
I think that is due to changes in the airing dates.

Just now.

With the flashing seizure lights.

On this website, no less:

*Mod Edit*

With the subtly seizure-inducing background to enhance the experience.

Now I am shaking and a little, well, disoriented...but at least I can coherently form sentences. That was horrible. Absolutely horrible, and I sat through all of it. I do not recommend this to anybody to watch, unless you are as masochistic as me and have a morbid curiosity like I did.

Ugh.

EDIT:

It had exactly what I thought it was going to have: flashing strobe effects in rainbow colors, and lots of explosions.
It also had a lot of perfect geometric patterns, which I generally find hypnotic by themselves, much less with rhythmic strobing going on.

I cannot believe this was even made! Who thought it would be a good idea to do all that!? Seriously. Do Not Watch It.

EDIT:

No, you know what? I think it's actually funny in a weird way. Because the essence of Polygon could not have been captured in any other way.

Please do not link to websites that illegally show the episodes. We also have a thread for the original series episodes.

I'm disappointed that this episode caused so any seizures because it just ruined every chance the Porygon family would have of ever appearing again.

...

Oh, and I feel sorry for the children too!

I have seen it and I didn't experience any where near your "supposed" seizure conditions you mentioned. The episode it's self wasn't that bad, it was an alright filler at the best but I wouldn't say don't watch it just because there are flashes through out half the episode. Just don't watch it if you are prone to seizures, if that is not the case then you shouldn't let the seizure scare impact if you watch this or not.

The thing is, I'm NOT prone to seizures at all. Never had one. The episode left me with some mental confusion and disorientation (during which I perhaps unwisely made a triple post about the event). I wasn't expecting anything like that to happen to me.

Just a quick question here since Pickup got on the topic of Porygon... Does "Denno Senshi Porygon" come on the DVDs (in Japanese or English dubs... I don't care which)? I know it's banned, but as long as there's a Seizure Warning, it should be legal to sell, shouldn't it?

I'm pretty sure the Japanese government placed a worldwide ban on the episode.

EVERY time! :' oh and my avatar and prof picture are actually from the episode itself. I looked for a scene I wanted and used an app on google chrome ^^

If you search really well you can find the actual copy; I found a RAW copy a few years back (or what I thought was the actual one) but the problem was that the website removed it a couple of days later.

I've actually saw both the RAW on a 19 inch computer laptop screen and it really ruined me, by that I mean huge headache and wanting to vomit right after. It was probably due to my laptop screen being so High Definition that gave me that result. The fan one isn't so intense, to me the coloring was duller on my laptop screen (but thats just me)

I've watched Ash fight a lot of battles, but to this day I still think Ash' battle with Drake was the coolest, bar none. I absolutely loved how it went down, especially at the end, anyone agree?

This belongs in the discussion thread for the original series.

Yeah, I really liked that battle. While I wouldn't say it was my favorite in the series, it was still very nice. Ash actually used Tauros and even a Ditto was in it! I also loved how Drake's Dragonite knew 10 moves. :|

I think they did that to make Dragonite seem more invincible. I mean, makes sense right? That Dragonite looked hella strong.

Otherwise, I love battles where Ash uses his Tauros. That is easily one of his coolest Pokemon in my opinion and Kirbychu should include it in the next poll I personally love re-watching this battle. One of my favorite parts is the split second where Onix actually had an advantage over Squirtle before losing to Hydro Pump, or Dragonite and Charizard duking it out, or seeing Ash actually use some strategy with Tauros against Venusaur. What I think I like best about the battle is the fact that Dragonite defeated most of Ash's team single handed.

However, that's not my favorite battle in the entire arc of the original series. For me, my favorite battles would have to be Ash's in the Johto league, mainly against Gary and Harrison. Watching fire starters Charizard and Blaziken duke it out was definitely one of the coolest things I've seen in the entire series.

Awww....

I have had a break for a few months but I am back on it now up to episode 98 - Meowth Rules!... This is a really good episode, also quite an emotional one as you see how strong the bond between Team Rocket is. Also quite funny to see Meowth being worshipped!

I wonder how that "Paka Paka" effect slipped by the producers in the first season. I mean I'm sure if someone had to watch it when they were reviewing it they'd get side effects too. I watched it online but I turned my head halfway through the "Paka Paka" scene. Definitely avoid watching that.

It wasn't too bad, for me anyway. But yeah, it would definitely be one of those things where you'd out "Warning: Risk of seizure, view discretion is advised," etc. I kind of hate how they blame Porygon for the whole thing.

Hello, once again I came across that scene where Ash was kneeling down on the ground and cried in the rain. Also Misty, Brock and Pikachu were sad behind him. This short scene was seen in the episode "Gotta Catch You Later" in a scene montage, at the moment when the trio had to split up.

I wonder if that scene of Ash crying in the rain is from an official episode, as I don't remember anything like that plus I can't find sensible answers via Google. Please englighten me!

I've been watching the whole second season because I don't really remember any of the episodes from when I was a kid. I don't even remember being aware of the Orange Islands. :D
I must say though, now that I am 17 episodes in, this season is excellent. It may be filler between Gen 1 and Gen 2, but almost all of the episodes are funny, creative, and well-written. My favorite so far is Meowth Rules!. I thought it was very funny how there is an island of people that worship a Great Meowth of Bounty. I was laughing literally the whole time because of how primitive the people's beliefs were and how tricked they had been by Meowth. Then, when Jesse and James help Meowth out because of their friendship (basically the end of the episode), I was tearing up. I never cry when watching TV shows/movies. Considering this episode is so powerful in that it can make you laugh and then soon make you cry, it is definitely one of the best Pokemon episodes out there.
So, yeah, watch Season 2 if you haven't.

Not sure if this has been discussed before, but I was just watching my collection of the first season awhile ago and was wondering, what's up with that super over-powered Gastly?

Ash shouts, "Go Pikachu!" Gastly comes back with a mouse trap. "Fine then, Charmander." Chased by fire extinguisher. Team Rocket joins in, "Koffing and Ekans!" Mongoose-"Dinner time!" Plus gas mask stomp on Koffing. Ash jumps back in, "Bulbasaur, Squirtle!" Gastly just spawns a Blastoise and Venusaur. "Just for fun I'll combine them into one super Pokemon, Venastoise. Try that on for size!"

Why can it do that, is it supposed to be the anime's equivalent to a lv.100 Pokemon or what?

I'm going to move this into OS Discussion; please use the stickied thread rather than making new topics for old episodes.

I'm not sure what the deal with the Gastly was, but I suppose it is a Pokémon that deals in illusions. They weren't really fighting a Gastly; they were fighting smoke an mirrors and psychological tricks.

Seems like a proper way to end the broadcasts of the Indigo League episodes during this transition to XY. It's a digitally remastered version, so I'll be watching it fo sho. Even though I've watched the first movie too many times.

That Gastly could have been lv. 100 since it has been there for many many years. The mouse trap and fire extinguisher weren't real though, Gastly was showing them those visions using Hypnosis.

I believe the secret of Original series is that ''Fans could expect Ash to do anything''
We could believe that Ash can capture Legendary Pokemon , Win Pokemon League , Beat E4 champion , catch all Pokemon and Beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of Evil Team Boss .
Nothing seem impossible for Ash back then !
But Now ,Writer/Director put so many restriction & Limitation on Ash that Fan are too scare to expect anything from Ash.
As for shipping , Ash & Misty's relationship goes per with Shinichi & Ren (Detective Conan) unlike other shipping pair with Ash!!!
Plus , The Comic timing was perfect back then!
The script was great and it felt more realistic .
Also , Ash Brock and Misty has perfect chemistry back then ! Their friendship seemed more real and everlasting then all other Ash Group so far.
Also there is Ash personality .
Back then , Ash's personality was like a real Boy so he could synchronize with other Kids !
Unlike now , Writer/Director made Ash more like an Angel rather then a Boy ! He's now the Obedient ''Good Boy'' that Every parent Dream about!
Thats Why Original series still the best Because it didn't tried to be a Kids Anime , Its tried to be a Popular Anime!!!

For for Fav episode , I really like ''School of Hard Knock'' Because of Giselle .
PS : I'm not bashing anything ! I'm simply showing what made Original series so good compare to other series .

The Original series will always be number 1. Because it was more like an adult anime and not a kids anime like it has become nowdays, the original trio Ash, Misty and Brock will always be the best.

I watched a few episodes of the Orange Islands series today, and having not watched in in at least a year my opinion was that the intro theme was one of the worst. ...but, today I found myself singing along. Its still one of the worst, but it's pretty cool if you get me.

I dunno, I dislike it but like it at the same time. It has that catchy effect.
