I already have a saved game, but while the problem in the cave of wisdon is not resolved, I restart the game, with another starting pokemon. But he obeys me until lv10, after that, he doesn't obeys anymore. In the 1st game I started with Cyndaquil, and continued without problems, but now, I chose Chikorita and when he arrives at lv11 not obey anymore, just like any other pokemon that I capture.

Someone also had this problem?

Really? That's an awfully weird bug. Delete the .sav file and start from scratch again. That should fix it.

This can be solved by downloading the latest live beta, which now has a completely fixed BW Experience System, as well as a completely fixed Physical/Special Split (Images on stats screen aside that is).

The worst is that I've done it already deleted the file .sav and restarted the game, but it was the same. Then I tried a different rom and it worked, it seems that a bug was momentary.

Sorry, got confused. The building is behind the Pokemart, in the R / B / Y versions was an empty space.

Physical - they've been physical since the split was introduced. The bug wasn't that they weren't physical, it was that physical attacks were giving out about 20% of normal damage (give or take).

Use a walkthru walls cheat. I had that same problem earlier.

Um...am I supposed to use dive to get to seafoam islands? I taught it to a wooper but it's not showing up in the pokemon menu. Usually it would be Summary, Dive, Switch, Item, Cancel, but it doesn't show up.

The only things there which could potentially cause that bug are the rival battles and the Glitchtree conversation.

I got that bad egg too, and did not talk to the Glitchtree. It thinks there's a pokemon in the daycare when I never put any in. The daycare lets me try to take out take out two pokemon, one a blank that doesn't appear in the party when taken out, the other a bad egg. It will also let me put in one pokemon, and it will take the place of the blank. If I then try to take out the bad egg, it shows the menu of the 2 pokemon (not shown the first time), and shows the bad egg at level 77. The bad egg is releasable. Here's my current save file just outside the daycare with this bug, with the bad egg not taken out yet.

Also, the Mareep you get from the trade in Cherrygrove City has no ability.

Edit: after taking out and releasing the bad egg, the daycare works properly, and I hatched 3 non-glitched Mareep eggs that have the Static ability.

Edit: different bug, on Route 36, using Headbutt on a tree shows either an egg or a question mark sprite in the animation. I don't see this anywhere else so far.

How do you catch the Legendary Birds...? (Actually I've figured it out now...)
But a bug: I only had the Blue Flute with me while I discovered the place, so I went back to get the Red Flute in my PC, but when I returned to the island... the pedestals were gone :(

and I don't seem to have the Yellow Flute. Anyone know where it is?

I can't find the Sapphire either... and how do you catch Kyogre and Rayquaza?

...and am I the only one that can't find the Undersea Express? I got the Sea Pass and everything, and I went to Route 27... but can't find it anywhere!! (I've searched the thread, and apparently you don't need Dive... so I searched through the surface with no luck..)

Oh, and a bug report. In the Goldenrod Game Corner, when I chose to obtain TM38, it gave me TM39...

That would imply that Tyranitar missed hitting the ground to cause an earthquake, or sent the earthquake the wrong direction, which isn't possible as where Tyranitar used it would be the epicentre of the quake. I think that sounds fairly stupid.

Don't get me wrong, I know it's caused by the mechanics of the game, but really? How can an earthquake "miss"? Especially if the opponent was underground at the time.

Don't use savestates, use the game's internal game save mechanic. The savestates play havoc with some of the new memory.

The difficulty was upped using as many various methods as was possible, without directly changing the game's AI.

If you don't like it, don't play it. There are plenty of alternative GSC remakes.

Some of those glitches have been fixed and the fixes are included in the latest Live Beta.

As to the OWs being iffy - they kinda annoy me too, but LaZ was doing his best with the OWs which were available to him at the time.

We only recently extended the OW table, and will be looking to add various new OWs, in particular for Farfetch'd and Butterfree.

IIRC, it was even worse in SG and GSC, as the Butterfree was represented by a Clefairy OW.

why can't i get solar rock in cave of wisdom :( please fix this , because if you fight the statue , then dodrio appear if you beat it the music goes on but your character stop and can't move :/

Stuck battling sucine I get it down to 1HP (False Swipe) and hypnotize it, and still go though 45 Great Balls, 1 timer ball, 1 nest ball, and 5 ultra balls and it still wont be caught. And i have done this several times. Am i perhaps doing something wrong, also the balls seem to barly shake when i throw them.

What with? Could you be more specific, as this may be a bug, or it may be intentional. I need as precise information as you can give me. What Pokémon were you battling? What level was it EXACTLY? What level were you EXACTLY? Was it a trainerbattle, or a wild battle? Anything you can tell me will help me to confirm it one way or the other.

You weren't meant to reach this event, but LaZ forgot to put something in the way to stop you. It's an unfinished event.

Wow. You are one unlucky guy. A small tip though - paralyzing is infinitely better than putting to sleep for attempting to catch a Pokémon.

i am experiencing the elite 4 bug (where you get stuck in the wall), however i am pretty sure i have the most up to date live beta. I am on vba 1.7.2 for mac, that might have something to do with it. I am pretty sure i am updating the live beta properly (patching the latest live beta ips, to a new fire red rom). Do i need to start a new game or something? because i was under the impression i could update the ips and continue with my current game. But when i load up my game and go to fight the elite for i still get stuck, Any suggestions anybody?

1. The Fire Stone dealer northeast of Violet City is bugged, when you press A on him, it acts like you pressed A twice and goes straight into the menu showing the Fire Stone item.

2. This headbutt tree on the island south of Cherrygrove is not solid:

Finally got sucine after many tries. pokeballs don seem to like to work all the time. So i somehow seemed to have skipped whirlpool HM along the way, anyone know where to find it.

Also i found a fug bugs/glitches. once i get the images off the phone i will post them, but they are black blocks i have found, one such place is in the eighth gym, where Claire is, is actually a black block.

How recent is this live beta? I tested on the latest ROM and in a similar battle, I got a little over 1000 exp.

When you reach the elite four and when you go to challenge them you get stuck on the elite four entrance .

I really can't get it to happen. Whenever I gain experience, it's exactly (give or take a few experience for a little bit of rounding) what the BW Exp System should produce.

As to the respawning cut trees - it's because there are only a handful of flags which can be assigned to cut trees, so GF made those flags reset on changing map.

What emulator are you using? How long ago did you update the live beta, etc etc?
I promise you, I'll look into this bug, but right now, I can't find the cause.

No. Savestates = Very bad for the new memory system in the game.
It can work with no problems, but equally it can also cause massive glitches and bugs.

Similar to a post, you can't change the date when you post it. I do believe they remove the old ips and replace it with the new one, so I'm pretty sure that the ips there is the latest one.

Female Nidoran on the route north of Goldenrod (don't remember the number), or in the Safari Zone (or whatever it's called in that version).

Moon stone in Tohjo Falls, I explained that in another post a few days ago. There are others, but I can't remember where I got them.

As for Seadra I have no idea, but there's a woman that tells you how every Pokemon evolves in Cianwood. Just put your Seadra in front and she'll tell you.

You can find a moon stone from Dark cave and Tohjo falls, and Seadra evolves to Kingdra by using a water stone.

Hey everyone! This is my 2nd post here. I've found Pokemon LC only recently and now it's my favorite GBA game! Sadly, I've found a few bugs (I am using the live beta btw) and I'd like to notify you guys. I had posted most of these in thepkmnworld as a guest, but this place seems much more active. So here goes-

1. Teleport's field effect is completely glitched, giving access to Kanto way too early.

2. A lot of shops, marts and other places where you can buy items are glitched and show ????... as the only items for sale.

3. The Pokedex only shows pokemon locations using the Kanto map. This makes catching Entei and Raikou a chore, even if you've spotted them once.

4. After finding the Saturn base near dragon's den and fighting Lati@s, you can exit Dragon's den using Dig, and then reenter THROUGH Axel's sprite!

5. Berry trees often go haywire! Fully grown berries sometimes become "still growing". And also there's one berry tree just between the union cave exit and Azelea which you can water even before you get the wailmer pail!

6. A lady in the Goldenrod game corner says " wouldn't stop..." something like that. It starts with a space and then a lowercase w.

7. Tiles sometimes disappear and change into black. I've had this happen in new island. It also happened with Clair's (8th gymleader) OW sprite.

8. A guy in the Saturn hideout below (?) Dragon's den says something like "If... then..." which is grammatically incorrect.

9. The place from where you get warped to new island, well, the path to go there is kinda weird I think, you just go on top of a hill from plainland just by walking!

10. The whirlpool tile in dragon's den looks kinda strange after it has been cleared.

11. In the black and white replay you get after reloading a saved file, Prof. Elm's lab is called Prof. Oak's lab.

12. You can skip spotting Suicune in northern Cianwood. You can still fight Suicune at Tin Tower without doing this. You can even spot it after catching Suicune in Tin Tower. This makes one feel like there're more than one Suicune.

13. Status moves are shown as Physical moves in the summary screen (not that it's that much of a big deal).

14. In new island there's one place where you go up a ladder but the ladder is nowhere to be found in the upper floor. It's a few screens before getting the clear bell.

15. After I battled my rival near the victory road exiti, I went left and fell down the hole to get the Earthquake TM. After that when I took the ladder up and tried to get to the exit my rival's sprite was there blocking the way. Pressing A while facing his sprite crashed the game.

16. Belly Drum's compatibility seems a little funny. I guess it's up to you who can learn it since it has never been a TM or tutor move. But still it should stay in flavor.

Well, that sure was a lot of gloom and doom for one post. Hope these get fixed soon.

Also, here are some suggestions that might help improve LC. These are mostly minor and trivial things so you're free to ignore them if you want.

1. The Thunderpunch TM in Goldenrod Game Corner being available for 6000 coins seems a bit useless considering the same TM is available for $3000 in the same city. It should be substituted with something else, Earthquake or Double Team maybe?

2. I suggest making Dive a TM and Whirlpool an HM. Usually HMs require badges to be used outside battles, while TMs do not. But in LC, the TM whirlpool requires a gym badge to be used outside (unlike Dig or Sweet Scent) while HM Dive doesn't require a gym badge (unlike all other HMs). Making Whirlpool an HM and Dive a TM would keep the pattern set by the other games intact.

3. IMO Dragon Claw is too powerful to be available for free in Goldenrod.

4. The Mineralbadge (the one given by Jasmine of Olivine) let's you use Rock Smash outside battle. I think it would be better if specifically Jasmine mentions this after she's beaten.

But a bug: I only had the Blue Flute with me while I discovered the place, so I went back to get the Red Flute in my PC, but when I returned to the island... the pedestals were gone :(

When you surf east of New Bark, take the branch that turns south. This will take you to Route 100 IIRC.

I don't think that you can get them. Did you get Groudon yet? If you didn't, The place where you found the Ruby, use the "Walkthrough wall" cheat and just keep looking around in the place where you found the Ruby and you will eventually find him.

After that you must surf east and then head north to climb two stairs and get on the higher land. Then follow the path south, use Rock Smash to clear the way and you'll eventually find a Saturn member and some boulders. There's an opening to the east, head through it to reach a new cave.

This should get you going.

Well, when I fix a bug thats been reported on my site's report system, i'll mark it as fixed. If you are a member you will receive updates via email if you subscribe to it. It should not show as already completed. I couldn't replicate the bug though.

Go to the same place where you found the Ruby and if you use the walkthrough walls cheat, you will find Groudon glitched inside a wall. Talk to him and he will eat your Ruby and you will battle him.

Groudon is a bit different this time, he isn't supposed to be where he was in the old Beta. Same goes for most other legendaries.

I think that I am not first person to write this, but in the Cave of Wisdom game always freeze when I beat lvl. 32 Dodrio (despite writing on the statue "lvl. 52 Nidoking, or lvl. 55 Lanturn - it is always different). Is it the end of this beta? Or is it possible to do this little quest and bring that Solar Rock to manager of teleport room?

Cave of Wisdom is an unfinished event, which I forgot to stop from being accessed.

I dont know if somebody already said it, but if u use teleport with abra. it will teleport you to Kanto.
Also i find the weather very annoying, its changing all the time...

Wow, this is the greatest hack I have ever seen!!!! I started a new game, but unfortunately it gets stuck at the first encounter with the rival, just after I've returned from mr. Pokemon. The sprite. Dear god the sprite. Most of the revamps I've seen (other than the male Rocket Grunt, which is amazing) look really bad, some even lacking black outlining. Mind if I have a go at fixing them?

If you can show me "most of" the other sprites, perhaps we can take this discussion further. As far as i know theres perhaps a few sprites off. Being vauge about the other sprites isn't helpful at all.

This goes fr most of the backgrounds. It honestly looks like you tried to insert them, failed, and never bothered to fix them. They look seriously horrendous.

I can confirm that the sand, indoors and indoor water have incorrect palettes. Theres no problems with any others.

It adds to the difficulty level. Removing them makes the game also last shorter time and is more easy.

why can't i get solar rock in cave of wisdom :( please fix this , because if you fight the statue , then dodrio appear if you beat it the music goes on but your character stop and can't move :/

1. The Fire Stone dealer northeast of Violet City is bugged, when you press A on him, it acts like you pressed A twice and goes straight into the menu showing the Fire Stone item.

Sorry to bother again, but i might have ran into another bug, as apparently lance is supposed to give you Whirlpool after you beat team rocket, i have beaten team rocket and am now at the final gym and can't find the HM for whirlpool

Similar to a post, you can't change the date when you post it. I do believe they remove the old ips and replace it with the new one, so I'm pretty sure that the ips there is the latest one.

If I can suggest an idea for a later Beta: I think it would be nice to include a battle or a side quest with the former Elite Four members (Agatha and Lorelei) at some point in the game. I think it'd be interesting, but of course it's just my own opinion :)

Hey everyone! This is my 2nd post here. I've found Pokemon LC only recently and now it's my favorite GBA game! Sadly, I've found a few bugs (I am using the live beta btw) and I'd like to notify you guys. I had posted most of these in thepkmnworld as a guest, but this place seems much more active. So here goes-

1. Teleport's field effect is completely glitched, giving access to Kanto way too early.

2. A lot of shops, marts and other places where you can buy items are glitched and show ????... as the only items for sale.

3. The Pokedex only shows pokemon locations using the Kanto map. This makes catching Entei and Raikou a chore, even if you've spotted them once.

4. After finding the Saturn base near dragon's den and fighting Lati@s, you can exit Dragon's den using Dig, and then reenter THROUGH Axel's sprite!

5. Berry trees often go haywire! Fully grown berries sometimes become "still growing". And also there's one berry tree just between the union cave exit and Azelea which you can water even before you get the wailmer pail!

6. A lady in the Goldenrod game corner says " wouldn't stop..." something like that. It starts with a space and then a lowercase w.

7. Tiles sometimes disappear and change into black. I've had this happen in new island. It also happened with Clair's (8th gymleader) OW sprite.

8. A guy in the Saturn hideout below (?) Dragon's den says something like "If... then..." which is grammatically incorrect.

9. The place from where you get warped to new island, well, the path to go there is kinda weird I think, you just go on top of a hill from plainland just by walking!

10. The whirlpool tile in dragon's den looks kinda strange after it has been cleared.

11. In the black and white replay you get after reloading a saved file, Prof. Elm's lab is called Prof. Oak's lab.

12. You can skip spotting Suicune in northern Cianwood. You can still fight Suicune at Tin Tower without doing this. You can even spot it after catching Suicune in Tin Tower. This makes one feel like there're more than one Suicune.

13. Status moves are shown as Physical moves in the summary screen (not that it's that much of a big deal).

14. In new island there's one place where you go up a ladder but the ladder is nowhere to be found in the upper floor. It's a few screens before getting the clear bell.

15. After I battled my rival near the victory road exiti, I went left and fell down the hole to get the Earthquake TM. After that when I took the ladder up and tried to get to the exit my rival's sprite was there blocking the way. Pressing A while facing his sprite crashed the game.

16. Belly Drum's compatibility seems a little funny. I guess it's up to you who can learn it since it has never been a TM or tutor move. But still it should stay in flavor.

Well, that sure was a lot of gloom and doom for one post. Hope these get fixed soon.

Also, here are some suggestions that might help improve LC. These are mostly minor and trivial things so you're free to ignore them if you want.

1. The Thunderpunch TM in Goldenrod Game Corner being available for 6000 coins seems a bit useless considering the same TM is available for $3000 in the same city. It should be substituted with something else, Earthquake or Double Team maybe?

2. I suggest making Dive a TM and Whirlpool an HM. Usually HMs require badges to be used outside battles, while TMs do not. But in LC, the TM whirlpool requires a gym badge to be used outside (unlike Dig or Sweet Scent) while HM Dive doesn't require a gym badge (unlike all other HMs). Making Whirlpool an HM and Dive a TM would keep the pattern set by the other games intact.

3. IMO Dragon Claw is too powerful to be available for free in Goldenrod.

4. The Mineralbadge (the one given by Jasmine of Olivine) let's you use Rock Smash outside battle. I think it would be better if specifically Jasmine mentions this after she's beaten.

Also this has been a small problem which ive never seen someone bring up...going north of goldenrod theres a guy in the building that gives you a spearow to deliver to his friend (a fat guy buy a tree on like route 44 or sumthin) problem is he wont accept the pokemon for some reason...

Well that was a long post. A small update with the Split as Jambo51 posted it should be fixed. Same with the League it should be fixed now too. Also for all people who can no longer battle trainers I added something to the players room. A box in the bottom right corner.

All bugs regarding the EXP system are being looked into currently.

One note: Every bug that gets reported on my site will be fixed and marked as fixed, if its reported. Thats a 100% fact. Thanks to everyone who has reported over there and I'll get onto them soon. Keep reporting there in the mean time :)

If you can't see why it is no wonder you can't see half of the other stuff. The tile errors I pointed out was a mistake, the image didn't copy and paste for some reason, but basically the pool in National park is surrounded by tile errors. The overworld of Falkner is bad because it is a RSE overworld in a FR styled game. Likewise with the tiles; They are GSC style with a slight recolour, in a FR style game, which is actually much worse.

Maybe the majority of people just want to play the game and are happy to see that it's been released at last. I don't have the slightest idea of how to hack that's true, but I think the game is good because it adds nice things to the original game. I like playing it because I think LaZ added variety to it.

I think it's ok to make criticism, especially if you do know how to hack (which you apparently can do pretty well), it's even a good thing. However, I think it is important to criticize with the adequate tone, which was not the case in your post. Saying "tile errors, tile errors, tile errors everywhere" is not the nicest way to tell somebody he's made errors.

Also, criticizing someone because their English is bad is lame. It's easy for you to say since you are, apparently, a native English-speaker, but it's not the case of everyone on this forum. Those non-natives (including me) make the effort of speaking your language so you could at least try to be nice to them. The day you speak our language as well as we speak English, maybe we can talk about it again ;)

I have read it all. And saying "Nice outfit persian" is a joke if its supposed to be constructive. And for the record you say it like I never noticed. I noticed it 3 years ago. A simple "This should of been a Persian OW" is constructive. Its nothing about being perfect I'm aware of all the flaws, just don't want to not release something because I don't have a persian OW right now. And about pokemon sprites, well yea some of them might not be the best but I don't think they suck as much as you are describing them.

When you quoted the name of the WHT appricorn, its as if your making fun of the name "WHT". That was the name of it in the original Crystal so why change it to match your preferences. The item image is wrong, granted but no need to emphasise on the WHT really.

When you say "Shame you never changed the learnable TMs for Pokémon" I actually don't know what to say here. I find it disappointing you would even consider saying that... Its a fact that the TMs have been 99.9% done and yet you state they haven't been done at all. Thats blatantly picking holes wherever you can possibly find them to provoke unnecessarily.

Another small bug. It seems Growlithe and Arcanine can no longer learn TM 46 Thief. But they can learn this in other Gen 3 games. My HM Slave/utility Growlithe couldn't learn it. I haven't checked with other 'mons, but it seemed a bit fishy to me that only 1 Pokemon in my party seemed to be compatible with Thief, which I always thought had pretty generous distribution.

Lance is supposed to give it to you at the Rocket Hideout in Mahogany Town. Search your inventory, maybe you overlooked it. If he didn't, I think you can buy it at the Goldenrod Mart or in the Casino.

He laz i really like your hack but here are mine bugs for now. I don't know if these are fixed because the latest beta i downloaded was like a week ago.
Wel the most annoying bugs i found were the move tutors attacks like the one in goldenrod that teaches dragon claw. my shelgon couldnt learn dragon claw and i think it could learn it. And the other move tutor in golden rod the one that appears on wednesday's and saturday's he appears before the E4 ( wich i actualy liked) i noticed that he doesnt always appear on those days sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't. second my typlhosion could learn ice beam and could learn calm mind from the move tutor from blackthorn while my espeon could not learn it. so now i got a typlosion with ice beam and calm mind who wtf powned lance. And there was some other move tutor who teaches overheat and my whole team could learn it while only 1 of them should be able to learn it.

After i defeated the E4 the hall of fame at the pc was noted as no.68.

When i went to the berry tower and got defeated i ended up at the battle tower and when i tried to enter is saw the celedon item prizes menu and when i clicked on one of them i started the battle tower and the game froze after entering the room. When i went back to the berry tower and entered the trainers i defeated were still defeated and i could just go on is it meant like that?

one other serious bug i came across was when i was exploring the undersea cavern above cinnabar island when i went on a patch of water and dived back up i came in vermilion city above the gym and when i tried to dive back i saw an egg animation instead of my pokemon and when i came acroos a pokemon i got bonus exp and i looked at my trainer card and my id was changed. dunno what happend there.

Mmm... i actually ran into a glitch there, that i have a picture of, but i didnt get the TM, bought a new one. i only defeated two electrode before lance said it was finished and i dont think i got the TM then.

Well guys, I mentioned earlier that I should make some sort of Blog that I post on whenever I make a change to the Live Beta so you guys can know when I last updated it exactly. But that would take time, effort and I don't want to post everything I do to a Live Beta blog. Live Log is a very simple concept, and currently in a very basic stage. The Live Log is a change log which I'll edit for people to see what was done on a particular date. There will also be a time stamp of when I updated the Live Beta last accurate to within a few seconds or so.

Yes. Pokemon that evolve when traded evolve in LC using other conventional methods. Machoke evolves at Level 42 and Haunter evolves with a Moon Stone. The old lady living in northern Cianwood tells you how a Pokemon currently in your party evolves.

UPDATE: I added the Live Log directly into the Liquid Crystal section of the Hack Bug Report Database (http://www.thepkmnworld.com/project.php?projectid=1). You know that place where you report bugs, and also check up to see when the latest bug was fixed. I figured instead of having it all on yet another page, it should be integrated into the place you guys should be checking for minor bug fix updates.

It seems to me that people haven't grasped the idea of a "Live" beta. So I'm going to spell it out to everyone so they understand how, why, what it is.

Why did I create the Hack Bug Report Database?
For all those people who have used the Hack Bug Report Database, and thanks for everyone that has, you would of noticed that you can report a bug there, give it a detailed description, and that it's marked as "Unconfirmed". If you also noticed that some of the reports have been marked as "Fixed". Well why do you think I have that setup? Why do you guys need to know that something is fixed now? It's not so you can wait for another 2 years before you get to experience that fix. It's so you can download the Live Beta IPS and patch it to a new FireRed ROM, and then play the hack using your old save file, and continue where you left off with a now bug fixed version. How does that work though?

Normal Releases
As we all know, there is a large gap between releases. The gap between beta 2.1 and beta 3.1 was 2.5 years. During that time a lot of changes and additions were made to LC, but one thing still remained a fact: you guys can't play it until I released it. Another thing remained a fact: if there was a bug on the beta, you had to wait 2.5 years for it to be fixed.

Take the example of another hack. The owner will release a beta for example Beta 1.0. They then upload this beta to a file sharing site such as Sendspace or Mediafire, or upload as an attachment to their post here on the forums. Members then download that release and play it like any normal release. Any changes that the owner makes to the hack hereafter won't be public until the next release.

Nightly Builds
For people that haven't heard about a nightly build, it is when the developer will release the most recent version after every night they have made a change or addition to the project. This gives everyone access to an "unsupported" and "in-progress" version mostly every evening for them to be able to follow closely to the development. A nightly release build mostly consists of a lot of links all named on the date they were created, along with a short change log of the addition. So nightlys are always separate links for each release that was made.

What about an LC Nightly Build??
So what about if there was an LC nightly build? An unsupported download which I released every night for you guys to try out the latest additions and fixes too the hack? That's the thing, that's partly what the Live Beta is, except the Live Beta is not a nightly build and is not a separate file each time I make a change. So if it's not a nightly build, then what is it?

What exactly is the Live Beta?
LC's Live Beta is like a nightly but better. Imagine a nightly build that is uploaded to a server every night for you guys to download. Now imagine that I uploaded the nightly every 12 hours for you guys to download. Now imagine that I upload it every hour for you to download. Now imagine that I upload it every 30 mins for you to download. And finally, imagine that I upload it roughly every 10 mins or so for you to download.

So, there is a file being uploaded very frequently for you guys to play with. And it contains every single thing that's been done to the hack on that minute. But where is all the links? I said that a nightly has a list of links and a change log posted with each one. What If I said there was only one link. And that the link is always the same. That is the Live Beta. It is a direct link to a Liquid Crystal IPS file for you to download, that contains the changes made to the ROM at any given moment. It's called the "Live Beta" system because it is a "Live" release. It means its in constant development and you guys have access to it whenever you like!

Why did I create the Live Log system?
The recently created Live Log system is to make the Live Beta system act more like a nightly system. It will show to you when the Live Beta was last updated, and will give you a change log which shows what was done on each date. This was partly as a response to people asking how do they know when the Live Beta has been updated.

If the Live Beta is updated the following things happen:


The date changes
An issue has been marked as "Fixed"
The download link will not change


That's all for now...
I'm hoping everyone can understand how the Live Beta and Live Log system works and won't have to ask or wonder again. The key thing to do is this:


Check over at the Hack Bug Report Database page for LC
Has the date changed since you last downloaded the Live Beta?
If it has, then check the Live Log to see what changed
If the date has not changed, then the Live Beta has not been updated
Finally, check up on different issues to see the recent activity, checking if any have been marked as "Fixed"

You have to make sure the file name is exactly the same for both. For example "Liquid Crystal.gba" and "Liquid Crystal.sav". That allows the emulator to read it. If that still doesn't work, then use File - Import - Battery file... and select your old .sav.

The fact that the Pokedex doesn't work correctly? That wouldn't make a difference as the roaming beasts system in LC is not "real". The 2 dogs are simply roaming in the wild in Johto only and you will randomly encounter them. Sadly even if the dec showed the johto map, they can't be tracked yet.

No in Fire Red if a legendary beast used Roar on you it disappeared forever and became uncatchable...is it still the case in Liquid Cristal in case I get roared by Entei or Raikou...

Thats a very good question. I remember testing that if you ran away manually then you could rebattle them. Perhaps thats the same effect as if they use Roar.

okay @Jambo exp issue is still there. I know it's real now because I started a game cause my save broke. I'm playing on gameboid android emu. No cheats enabled. I can confirm his is true I was just able to reproduce it straight away on Gameboid. Battled a level 2 piggy with a level 5 totodile. Got 768 exp and went to level 11.

Seems that the cause is all emulators that use the gab_bios.bin file, such as Gameboid.

Hey LaZ I read your previous posts about updating to the live beta without restarting but I'm really confused I have Lunar Ips and I play Liquid Crystal on GpS phone it plays games in .gba format and it's save states are in .svs format I've transferred the file to my computer but whenever I patch it the game starts completely over. How do I send the file to my computer without losing my game and patch the file. Please help... Sorry if I'm being annoying haha:)

Do you know what actually caused it?
Software Interrupt 0x8 (Better known as Square Root) operates differently in the emulator I designed the routine for than what it does in the real GBA BIOS.

On VBA, it only overwrites R0, which meant when designing the routine, I only pushed R0.

However, with the real GBA BIOS, it overwrites R0 AND R1. And since I was only pushing and popping R0, the value in R1 was being overwritten with a massive garbage number.

I'm really sorry that it took us that long to find it, but who'd have suspected that the BIOS was to blame? I know it was my lack of push which caused it, but as I explained, on VBA, the push was unnecessary.

I guess there's more? :D and I found this house which is locked with expensive lock I wounder what's in it?. I really enjoyed every second. I caught all three legendary dogs, Ho-oH and latios. And I see you can find all three starters that's nice. About bugs I faced the teleport bug but it's already reported.
Another bug/glitch is this which is in (Dark Cave) coming from route 45 (after entering go right then surf then left )

To get Eevee, u must talk to Bill in Ecruteak City Pokecentre and then go to his house in Goldenrod (it's down the lane near the Game corner). He'll give u an Eevee.

I also think I had encountered wild Eevee in Saturn hideout in dragon's den.

And Snorlax is sleeping near Vermilion. Complete the Lavender radio tower quest and go back to the Johto radio tower to get something that'd wake him up.

Again the same problem. I captured a lv.8 shiny Pidgey and was playing until it reaches the lv.11. Then he stopped to obey, before this happened to my starting pokemon.

What happened was that i got to latias and latios and decided i need more ultra balls i escape rope out of there, got the balls and went back. When i entered he was already at the entrance and started the dialog as if i had already defeated Latios. I then got dragon breath. Then i went down and fought Latios. He was back at the entrance when i caught latios with the same dialog

Even with the bugs it is still playable and doesn't feel like a crappy hack. I love this remake, and that it's not just a recolor, Except some of crystal's sprites where my favorite. I will admit sometimes i do things just to see if i can bypass some game things. i do this for all pokemon games though.

Well i am in the undersea cavern where all of the legendary pokemon used to be in 2.1... I imagine i am at the point where raquaza is because i am dragons den for some reason now and i am on the long LONG set of stairs to find him, but apparently i cannot run up them i have to walk? because i have been holding "B" ^ for the past hour and nothing and when i walk backwards towards the entrance i get back to it almost immediately... is this portion of the game impossible to get to? should i just use escape rope now?

You could try Golduck it's a special attacker and there are Psyducks around Goldenrod. Personnally, I kind of like them :)

Savestates COULD cause massive problems. Equally, they might not cause any problems. When I tried to use them, it completely broke LC, but when Linkandzelda used them, he had no problems.

Point is, err on the side of safety and use the game's built in save.

You can't. The trading is completely broken (sadly) on LC. The game simply crashes as soon as you enter the actual trading screen.

Well it's your lucky day, cause I'm gonna tell you how to do that. Warning: I will not be responsible if this corrupts your save file. You should make a backup.

1. Get an Abra, they're available north and south of Goldenrod and also can be redeemed in the game corner for 100 coins.

2. Enter Violet Pokecentre and then exit it with Abra in your party.

3. Use Teleport from the Pokemon menu. You'll be warped to a place called Silver Cave.

4. Enter the Pokecentre behind you and then exit.

5. Use Teleport again and you're in Meadow Town, which is in the 1st Orange Island.

Thanks for replying. I also got your PM. I've searched in the place you mentioned using a new save file which doesn't already have the Blue Flute. But I can't find it there. I found a Sapphire, some evolution stones and healing items but no Blue Flute.

Also, to go to the lake north of Lost Woods you must step on some special tiles in the grass. These tiles make a special sound when you step on them the 1st time.

I assume u have done all events in kanto (in dragons den, safari zone) and others? If so, then get your ticket stamped by Prof. Oak because he needs you to get a special ball from Prof. IVY. When you got the stamped one just go to the headquarters of police on 1st floor and get a Sea pass.

I see you havent even done events yet that is why you cannot get the stamped ticket. In safari zone there is an event with BEN (the red guy) and Zane but you should see when you come there (till then be satisfied in Kanto) :)

You haven't done all events, I do not really know if it is closed all I know that there is an event that needs to be done before getting the PASS so try and search what you have missed. And yes that is the one I meant I dont really know if there are 2?

There's a bad egg in the daycare for some reason and I had another one appear in box 2 in Cianwood, I took it out and put it in my party, then I put it back in the PC in the last box, I checked the same spot in box 2 and noticed that I had a " " there...I tried to withdraw it and check its status to see what it was but my game restarted by itself and I lost one hour of progress...Now I have to visit hollow cave again, to pass the secret portion of route 39 and surf to Cianwood again...:(

I hope no more badd eggs will randomly appear...:(

Hey, just want to say awesome hack LaZ. I really like how you can now surf between the south of Johto and all the new areas you added :)

I did not a few tile/movement errors but none of that really bothered me.
However I did encounter a bad egg in the daycare (I am using recommended vba, latest live beta etc).

I also encountered a weird surf glitch possibly due movement error?

I cant upload image due to not having enough posts but if you go to the goldenrod radio tower beach side and try to approach the tower from the left hand side you will be asked to surf.

I said yes and was able to freely surf around goldenrod, note this was fixed whenever i entered a building.

Hey LaZ! you might or might not remember me, but I've played through 2.1 before twice and I was doing a let's play of it now, it's a great game you're working on! I just figured out how to get my 2.1 save game working on the 3.1 but I have some questions...
1) I'm playing the live beta thing, will I be unable to do certain things, if so, like what?
2) could you give a brief summary of the new things added, I see a lot of shortcuts and new stuff around olivine city, a surf way to goldenrod and stuff... is there more
3) are there any items I missed because you added them in the 3.1 thing?

Hi there.
First of all, your hack is really GREAT, even if there some minor bugs. They are not that annoying. I finished the game and I'm trying to complete the Pokedex. I have a few questions :
1- What has the room in Rock Tunnel to hide? There is braille in it but it doesnt say anything :/.
2 - I can't figure out where Ho-Oh and Groudon are hiding, I think Imma need some help for the locations.
3 - Isn't Gengar supposed to be able to learn Sludge Bomb? Because it doesnt in your game. I think you should correct it ;).
4 - Is there any locations FAQ out there? It would be helpful to know where some pokemons are. Advance Map doesnt work on your game, it says there is a tiles bug bla bla bla.

I found another exp bug with Exp. Share. My Typhlosion killed a lv37 Machop, got 700~ exp and my Larvitar got 4400~, then the next one my Typhlosion killed a lv37 Graveler, got 1200~ exp and Larvitar once again got 4400~.

What level was Larvitar in the respective gains? There may well be a slight oversight when it comes to the exp sharing routines. It's meant to get more than Typhlosion, but in my experience so far, it seems to get 1.5 times as much as it should. I'll have a look tonight.

I ran the calculation myself using a calculator and I can tell you that Larvitar should have got about 2300 exp the first time. So somewhere after the game calculates the value, it overwrites it with extra experience.

Here are the locations of the starters. They're given to you, they do not appear in the wild.

1. Bulbasaur- A guy in Saffron City.

2. Charmander- Fuchsia City.

3. Squirtle- Pewter City.

4. Chikorita- Tohjo Falls.

5. Cyndaquil- Surf south of Route 34.

6. Totodile- Dark Cave. Accessible only if you enter from Blackthorn.

To get more legendaries you must progress more in the storyline. And Latias can be found after you get HM Dive.

I haven't tried this since i updated to the newest live beta, but Kingdra couldn't use the Dragon breath TM, Salamance can't learn Dragon claw from the move tutor. Gardevoir can learn Dragon breath.

But my main bone to pick is this. I understand you've done your best to keep this as close and relevant to the original game TM wise as possible. But I feel the main elemental TM's should have at least been given someway. Thunderbolt, Flamethrower and Icebeam are major moves for most pokemon and several pokemon who rely on them can't learn them naturally. It kinda bones special attackers.

And will you be including the third gen starters in this game at any point?

@LaZ- Sorry for not being more precise. I have noticed a lot of such move compatibility issues throughout my gameplay, but I haven't noted every single one.

Now I don't think it is possible to review every single Pokemon's TM compatibility in-game, as that would require one to catch all the Pokemon and it'd be very time consuming. It might be easier to do so from the ROM, using the TM learnset bytes. So I thought I'd leave it to you guys.

You can consult Veekun.com for the learnsets. It has every Pokemon's TM learnsets in every generation arranged numerically (that's also the order in which it goes in the ROM, isn't it?). That wouldn't help you with things like Belly Drum and Defense Curl (for gen 3+ Pokemon) though. On second thought, why not use the Mega Punch tutor's compatibility with Belly Drum, that'd be pretty logical I think. Most stuff that can Mega Punch should be able to Belly Drum.

Hey! I've been waiting for this beta for a while now! Just downloaded the live beta and started playing and it seems pretty great so far. I did, however, notice a problem with the grammar in the text that you get after you pick berries. It says "the soil returned to it's soft and loamy state" when it should say "its." I'd post a link verifying this grammar rule, but last time I tried that, I couldn't post. Sorry I'm being so nitpicky, just something I noticed. Here's to hoping that this hack is as great as it looks!

I have an issue, I beat the Elite 4 twice, and also beat Red, then Axel called me and told me to meet him at the Kanto Office Block, which I understand to be the building in vermilion city, but he is nowhere to be found when I go there and none of the people inside are any help. I'm really stuck also does the scientist at Mt. Moon ever get out of the way? (He says he is looking for fossils and to come back later). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went to a new gym (cianwood) and all trainers except for the gym leader was already beaten, then I went to mahogany (haven't gone there yet) and the same problem, the trainers which I've never battled yet didn't fight me, when I talk to them they say stuff like "that was a good battle!" but I haven't battled them yet :S please fix this :( it's a good gam otherwise

According to LaZ, you should talk to a box in a corner of the player's room, that's what he explains at page 63 anyway. Hope this helps :)

I have a problem, I've beaten the elite four twice, have all 16 badges, and i've beaten Red... I am ready to go to the orange islands now but I dont know what to do now... Axel called me and told me something when I went to the tower in Vermillion City, but I was too tired to even read it.

Do you have HM 08 Dive? You can dive from Vermilion or south of Pallete and then explore a bit and eventually you'll come out from a cave just east of Cinnabar. Head east to go to Seafoam.

So you were also using your cellphone. Well, I couldn't continue that game, but I played the rest in my PC. LaZ did say the game is semi-supported in other emulators. Maybe it'd be fixed later.

BTW, right now I'm out of town and replying from my cell. Would be a while (READ: weeks) before I get my hands on my PC :(. It's really astonishing to think of all the things these little gadgets can do!

You can actually catch some in the area you're in. Talk to the guy outside the train who'll give you ultra balls if you need.

There's a glitch when I fall in the hole when I beat Silver in Ecruteak City, once I fall, I'm stuck, there was a black screen, and that it didn't show me falling to the place where the legendary dogs were at.
