Hi everybody
It's finally here, AdvanceMap 1.95 (Open Beta).
It's now about 3 Years since last release.
I'm not longer a student, so i haven't as much time as for last versions.
As I say multiple times since last release, I don't simply update AdvanceMap with new functions, I rewrite the whole Program.
AdvanceMap is not longer based on "Delphi 6" it's now based on "Lazarus (0.9.29)".
Attention: AdvanceMap 1.95 is currently only a BETA-Release, and there are not all functions in, that should be there.
So be careful and make regular Backups!!!
But now the the Facts.
New important features:
- 7digit / Extended Rom Support
- Connection window with preview & move Connection in preview
- Insert new Tilesets
- All text fields as "HexEdit", you can change between Hex and Dez view with the $ sign.
- The "ConnectionList" will shown in MapList.
All adjustments:

- Emerald PattlePyramid problem fix (manual fix not longer needed)
- The Option "Create Backup on opening" now automatically create a dated Backup each 14 days.
- inserted Season System from prime (Preview of Season, and Change functionality) -> The DNS-Program from prime you can get there: http://www.memoryresources.de/DNS.php
- preview D&N colors.
- Open Rom by dragging a file on AdvanceMap.
- GreatBlock without size limit
Other adjustments:
- Blockeditor small redesign
- All ini files as UTF-8
- Write an ErrorLogs on each error
Changed behavior:
- don't save changes any time, only save changes on special action / situations
-- On Press den Save Button in Toolbar / Menü
-- On change Map
-- On close Blockeditors
not yet build in:
- The Worldmap Editor is not yet compatible with new AdvanceMap, I have to do major changes on it until it's compatible again.
- "Pic color" in PaletteEditor. I haven't found out yet how this work in Lazarus.
no more build in:
- The comboboxen view, is not available any more.
- The "Header" functions under Tools->change MapBank aren't there anymore. They aren't often used, so I don't do this work again for new version.
- "Change palette definition of block data" in Blockeditor.

As like on all Versions, it is NOT allowed to upload AdvanceMap on any Webspace or FileHoster (Fileuplaod/Megadownload....).

Using AM 1.95 together with AM 1.92:
Attention: if u use extended/32Mb sized Roms, you shouldn't use AdvanceMap 1.92 anymore.
AdvanceMap 1.92 create Errors if you try to save data in extended ROM area (from Offset 1234567 it make 234567).
If you use AdvanceMap 1.95 and want to change Worldmap with AM 1.92, be very careful so you don't damage your Rom...
Using ConnectionList:
The "ConnectionList" is a list where all Maps are listen in a simple list. ^^
There are only linked the MapFooters in this list. So there are no Evnts, MapSettings, Map Scripts, Connections...
In the MapHeaders from MapBankHeader there is an Index to this List, so I could linked most entry with Bank.Map.
The unknown entrys will be used to "change" the Map by SetMapFooter- Script command.
ATTENTION: in this list there are also many rubbish / Buggy Maps / invalid entrys (from Nintendo). These ones shouldn't be "deleted", because this could perhaps create error in ROM.
AdvanceMap insert automatically a new Entry in this List, all time you insert a new Map into the ROM (already since version 1.50).

Yay! 1.95 is almost here! I'll let you know if there is anything wrong.
I can say Islands 4-5 is the Azalea Town theme. Also, the Magnifying Glass for finding Free space reads "World Map Editor" and opens the Free Space finder. The arrows for the connection editor (I LOVE THIS) has the "Find Free Space" tag. And, the player head says "Map Connections", and the Open previous map button says "Show Sprites".

Well, we're one step or two away from 1.95! I'm looking forward to this! I won't participate in the beta though because others have keener eyes on program flaws and errors than I do.

Some of the new features on this are completely amazing. I'm really glad that the overworlds face the right direction, and the map connections editor is so much better now - no more tedious testing for me 8D.
It's pretty cool that you can resize the block tileset sidebar thing, though I'm too well-adjusted to it being eight blocks wide so I wont be using it. BigBlock is a helpful tool, as is the multiselect event thing. Most of the features are awesome - I look forward to the bugtested version.
As a sidenote, the select tool - the eyedropper icon looks out of place in comparison to the rest of the icons. Another issue I noticed I think is down to translation - the message when you move to another map without saving your current one's title is "Frage", which I think is German or something. It's definitely not English though, aha.
Anyway, this will certainly make mapping an easier job. It's a great update from 1.92, and, athough I won't be using it on my main ROM for now to avoid any bugs screwing up my ROM, I'm sure I'll use the bugfixed version. Thanks Lu-Ho, you're a great asset to PC's hacking community. :D
edit: Another bug: The sidebar where the map lists are - if you scroll up on the scroll wheel, the list moves down, and if you scroll down on the scroll wheel, the list moves up. While I'm on the subject of the map lists, the ConnectionList is quite a nice addition though it seems really messy to me with all those uneeded maps etc., so I'mma stick with the Header list. :D
e2: Also, the fact that the save/don't save message prompts you every time regardless of whether or not you've made a change to the map is very annoying, I'd change that too.

This is really cool.
The paint bucket tool and similar additions you've made are great. :D
I did find one bug:
The block editor "blocks" tile set is one pixel to wide,
resulting in a horizontal scroll bar and some blurring.
Great work so far, can't wait for the final version.

Found a few bugs:
Sometimes when using the connection editor and going to an adjacent map, the new map looks the same as the one that was just left. Unchecking and rechecking "Show preview" fixes it.
You can't right click on the AdvanceMap icon in the taskbar (on Windows 7) to pin it or quick-load a file.
That was always handy in 1.92.
Also: AdvanceMap is back in production! Sweet!
Will you release the code for compilation on Mac? Or at all?

I found some of those. It kinda confused me for a minute. I'd say that it is purely cosmetic and could be corrected easily with the language INI file.

@Toolbar: I changed the Entrynumber of Languagefile it use to show, but English was the only Language I forget to fix this in the file... (Synchronice Languagefile is not as easy...) fixed

@Frage: Yes it's German, my native language. I forgot to read it from languagefile (all Info/Error/Question) fixed
@MapList-Scrollbar: This is the same in Explorer, scrolling down No Error
@ConnectionList: yes, Nintendo had to have my tool on creating there Games, than there wouldn't be as much error in it (also at Event Positioning[Warps], and Movement Permission data are many errors of them...)
The only idea of this list is to find the Maps used with setmapfooter command. (was recommended from different users... No Error
@save message prompts: it only pops up if you change some thing. Also moving Events (and than moving back to previous position) is a change.
if you think you really don't change some thing, say what you do, and I try to fix it. ;-) No Error

@blockeditor width: hm... not for me, seams because of Windows style, I made it 2 pixels wider anyways fixed

yes, it's an error in Laugauge file and is fixed

Awesome, I just opened up FR ROM with it. This update is nice, and the GUI layout alone is so much better. Also, is it just me or has their been a *major* speed increase?

@no language: Than you haven't exctract the zip files correct!
the ini files have to be in the ini directory, language files in subdirectory ini/sprachen. No Error

Well, one time I went from one map to another and for some reason, the old map was duplicated as the 'current' map. I refreshed it and it appeared normally.
Also, will you be releasing the source code for A-Map publicly, in case somebody wants to contribute/make their own build with other features? Or f you stop making A-Map and somebody else wants to continue it?

It was probably because I had it open in Notepad to apply my hack for the extended Emerald primary tileset. Not a bug.
By the way, the Islands 6-7 theme is also the Violet City theme, like the person above said about Azalea.
Also, could you perhaps add support for the displaying/adding of the tri-layered blocks hack that colcolstyles and I made (although separately)?
If you'd like, I'll give you a PM with info on this new addition.

No I will NOT Release the code (as I say all who ask this before).
If I decide to don't do Romhacking anymore, I will perhaps make it opensource under a licence of my desire.

If you have created a new Function (ASM-Fixes), and share this with the whole World.
I would also add special Change function for it in AdvanceMap.
BUT: you should make it usable for All Rom Version, or in minimum for all Language off the same Version.
Also if you want to share this funktion (and also the "extended Worldmap") i would add special functions for it in AdvanceMap.
You have to say me, how I found out the system is build in, and how I have to save the data, so it works together. wait for details

There is your answer. And going to his site automaticly downloads 1.95, I don't think you will be able to get 1.92 unless LU-HO sends it to you.

Is it possible to use more than 2 tile pallets per map?
Actually, come to think of it... is that possible in version 1.92? I know you can have two pallets open at once, but does changing a pallet while both pallets are in use cause errors?

You can only have 2 pallets in a map at once.
If you change a pallet, your map will might go messy.

Question, if you apply the DAS will you be able change both the day, and night wild pokemon data. (If you apply a different pokemon, at different times)

@Thrasher24: you can download all old versions on my Page/version history of AM: http://ampage.no-ip.info
And AdvanceMap made a backup "*.bak" and also a Dated Backup of your rom "*_20110320_180000.bak" (or something like this [date_time]) of your rom (see your rom's folder), so you can use them, and haven't do begin from scratch!
AM don't every time make dated Backups (only all 14 days) so do it manually (file->create backup) if you have done important changes to your rom...
@NarutoActor: Such a function "is already in" the 1.95 beta, but is deactivted.
The Problem is, the ASM function for it is not finished, so it wouldn't work on playing the game...

i got a problem when trying the 1.95,
the problem is whenever i finish changing the pallete, and close the block editor, the program will hang, i cannot pressed anything at all, since its a beta i might as well tell you this..xD

I think other people do it another way, but what I do is walk through walls cheat + fast forward to the map you want.

Guys! Is it just me or has this version of advance map shown more beta maps? There looks like there's a few more Sevii Island maps. Under Connections List Unknown Map (CL:261) there's one of the ones I’m talking about, I don’t recall having seen a similar map like it.

Hmm, well in the starting town maybe add a temporary door somewhere that warps to the place you want to test, you could change it every time you want to test something different.

Okay I think this is a bug with AMap, as everytime I go into this one map, it gives me an error saying that $FFFFFFFF is not an existing pointer, or something along those lines. If I try to leave the map, it prompts me to save my wild Pokémon data despite me not touching it at all. So when I go and check the wild Pokémon data, I remove one which had no data in it (it was Water), go onto another map, return, and it gives me the error again and the wild Pokémon data hasn't changed, despite me saving the map AND saying yes when it prompted me to save the wild Pokémon data when leaving the map. In game, the map works fine.

I love the map connections addition. Now, I'm not afraid to try them. And that means no more gatehouses to link all my maps. :D

yeah I noticed this as well. There's about five or six maps that seem to resemble the beta Sevii Isle maps. How many were they intending to include? Viewable also is what looked like map footer data for Seafoam Islands/Three Island Path.
Anyway I like how the overworlds now face in different directions and the map connections preview is also a very nice addition! =)
I've heard of some labeled 23 and 24 but not sure they'd really have 24 islands. Just a shame there seems to be no way to make them work. :(

I just tried that, I got an error saying that $71A854 is not a pointer and to please contact you, what'd I do wrong? (That was when I tried to create a new space for it.)

I can't load the beta version. When I start it up it tells me to select a language, but there isn't a language on the list to select, so I end up closing the window and the program stops loading... I was reading through the comments, and well I guess I'm the only one this happened to?

Try opening the program while it is in the .zip
Wait till it fully loads up, then close it. It should tell you that new files have been added/extracted etc, do you wish to save them? Select yes.
Then extract the files, it should work normally.

No, because if you do try to load something like that, it will reject it because it doesn't have a palette file for one, and two is that it won't do what you suggested anyways. What you do is first, set up the paletes, export the new, blank tileset, then add the tiles just like any other with just the 16 of colors of whatever palette was exported.

I would suggest an undo/redo feature, sometimes when I finish using the greatblock feature I forget to select the normal mode and I right click (pipette) spot and the greatblock appears on it.

Oddly enough I cannot run this anymore. I downloaded it on the first day and it worked fine. I accidentally erased it and redownloaded it today and now my Norton pops up with a Suspicious.Cloud.2 warning and immediately removes the .exe file. Does anyone have the same problem or a solution? I still have 1.92 so it isn't too much of a big deal, just wondering if I'm alone on this one?
Edit: I'm still not sure why this program set off my Norton but I've got it running now. For everyone who still has A-Map 1.92 it's a good idea to keep it around. 1.95 is awesome but in the last few days I've encountered quite a few bugs (mainly related to pointers) that are easily remedied using A-Map 1.92. I'm currently using 1.95 in conjunction with 1.92 in order to fix whatever problems I run into.

I deactivate this function, so you will start to use the "header sort" option.

The error i got first was similar to Spherical Ice's. When you try to remove Pokemon data on a map it looks as if it's done and continually prompts you to save the wild Pokemon dataa, even if you haven't changed it. Then I get an error stating that there is an invalid pointer and doesn't allow me to change anything on the map. Another error I got what is when you try to import maps and insert them. A-map acts as if your map has been inserted but when you try to enter said map in the program you get an invalid footer message. Also I inserted a map using A-Map 1.92 and when I try to add connections the connections don't stick in-game. This may be an isolated incident as it's only happened with one of the two maps I inserted.
Edit: Also everytime I open the program I get the error "error created while creating backup, backup not created" or something to that effect.

If it isn't much problem, I'd like to make a suggestion... would you PLEASE change the amount of Overworlds than the Advance Map accepts?? I beg you, if you can, please, that would make it even better, I mean, the best tool of all the times (although it is xD),

I got this error because I had it in a folder called "Pokéhacks". When I renamed it to "Pokehacks" it worked.
EDIT:
Also, not so much a bug as a complaint, but when I set things to double view size they get smoothed or blurry. Could you change this to crisp, sharp pixel lines?

I like the improvements of the new version. I only had a disappointment, though: I expected you to implement the tile animation editor in the block editor, so it'd be easier and faster to use. But well... no problem.
What annoys me the most about A-Map 1.95, however, is the lack of transparency =/ When you edit the maps, you can only see the "top layer" of the tiles (and that's annoying, because you don't see if the tiles look alright together or not), and the same with the overworlds in the events editor. I suppose that you don't know yet how to do the transparencies in the new programming system you're using, or something. I hope you fix it in the definitive version =)

That's exactly what I thought =/ Maybe we need to do something else in order to be able to use the season system?
We'll, those are all the issues I had with this new version (apart from the bugs, but it's a beta, so I won't complain). Keep working on it! ^_^

What happened to the colour selecter in the palette viewer? Doesn't seem to be there.

That's right. I updated my Day, Night and Seasons app (by prime-dialga) and installed the RTC, Seasons, and DAN in my FireRed ROM. I opened Advance Map 1.95, went to Route 1 [Day] and changed the wild Pokémon. When I scrolled to the Night time period, I checked the wild Pokémon and there were the same changes I had made in Day! How come? I don't get it.

Grosser Block. That's been there for ages.
Just click Ctr and right click the tiles you want, and drag it, and you will select more than one tile.

Mmm... I use Windows XP Professional and I didn't have any problems with A-Map 1.92. But with 1.95 it happens exactly what I told you: I can only see the top layer of the tiles.
I have another information that may interest you: I have tried to emulate 1.95 in Ubuntu Linux using Wine (a Windows emulator). I could emulate 1.92 perfectly well, but with 1.95 the strangest thing happened: the icons were all upside-down! xD See it for yourself:

And not only that, but the tiles with transparency are also messed-up. Not in the same way as in my Windows XP, but, as you can see, with Wine they aren't displayed correctly either =/

Horray! It's about time my friend that you've released a new version of AdvanceMap! ^^ This is great, this is excellent! I'm gonna give it a whirl and start reporting all the bugs I can find with the new beta. And I will report every bug that I find in the program itself and send the screenshots to you, Luho. ;)
At least you took your time and did what you could to bring in the new features that many asked for, I'm sure it would've been alot of work for me as well if I ever knew about how to create programs using Visual Studio.
I think I'm just a little overally excited after I returned to PC and found a new version of AM after 3 years. ^^' xD

You mean, like, we'd be able to see the first few tiles of the next maps over so we can properly align them without having to save, play the game, exit then tweak? That would be a very handy feature.

That's already in this beta, if you look at the connections tool, I think. It shows a preview of the connected map in the tool already.

I just noticed a spelling mistake when it says "ERROR: (ENotAPointer) AdvanceMapError(5): The value at $5A1478 is not a Pointer! Please contakt

Also... is it just me, or doesn't AdvanceMap allow changing the names of maps anymore? I'm guessing this is a little bug in the program, which obviously means you might have a missing command script on the change map name area. Allow me to show you! ;)

Edit: Oh yeah, and I have also noticed some oddities with Route 118 in R/S/E. When I looked at the music in the map options part, it's value was $7FFFF. And if you play the game normally, the Route Theme 2 changes to Route Theme 6 by the time you surf across to the other side of the ocean. So there must be some line between the sides on Route 118, further research needs to be done on this matter, because this might also have something to do with the world map as well.
Edit 2: And I'm also looking forward to seeing the tile and door animation editor in AdvanceMap as well. I did find a bug in the beta version of the tile animation editor, it wouldn't accept the changes when I removed an animation and clicked Apply changes, it just came back again as soon as I clicked Load Animations, even when I clicked Save Animations, it did not apply the changes, it was just almost as if nothing happened. If I removed all the animations in the tileset, it just greyed out most of the buttons except for Load Rom and Load Animations. So I cannot be able to save it if all the animations are removed on the tileset or if there isn't any. And that is one problem that needs to be fixed in the Tile Animation Editor.
Edit 3: Another bug report in AdvanceMap 1.95! Pokémon LeafGreen [BPG] has the SuchBeginn at $6B00000 instead of $6B0000 in the AdvanceMap.ini file. It should have 4 zeros instead of 5. xD

Change the direction of the connection. It only show's one at a time [presumably to avoid overloading if the map is connected to 4 other large maps.]

I searched this problem extensively before I posted, and I'm also new to mapping, so excuse me if there's a simple solution to the problem that doesn't relate to the new 1.95 beta.
Whenever I create a new map and give it its own name, the name changes to the default Pallet Town, or whatever map I copied from. But I want to create a new map, with a new name and no connections to any other map. This problem persists no matter where I am when I create the map.

Could you please Elaborate on this problem, If its an actual problem with XSE, you should go complain to hackmew, If its A-maps FSF, then use Hackmews, Instead of demanding for a fix from just one source, try looking to alternatives, could save the world some day.

The backup failing is a common problem, Just simply save the save the rom in an alternate folder or under a different name after saving in the main, this is the same as A-Map creating a backup. Also, An undo/redo button would just be pointless, As if you make a mistake, while it may be PAINSTAKING, it isn't the end of the world (unless you mess up the space taken up in the rom and SEVERLY break something, But this is what backups are for~)

It's called Advance Map for a reason - only works for the GBA games such as Firered, Leafgreen, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. This tool will never be for Diamond.

first of all let me congratulate you for a wonderful tool without my hack would be nothing, really have not had time to test the new beta enough to talk about mistakes, I would like to propose you the idea of enlarging the space for 8x8 das tiles fit as it is too fatidioso go into small blocks so you can map tiles faster and be equally fit faster, save time and better distribution.

The amount of Blocks each Tileset, and palettes each Tileset can not be changed, they are limited in the data structure/Byte size of the corresponding elements.
But you can insert complete new Tilesets with new Tileset numbers (->new Tileset option in BlockEditor)

Lu-Ho, I almost forgot about something that you may want to address in this update (if you haven't already).
A-Map starts free space searches at 6B0000, right? Emerald's true free space, according to an R&D thread on the site, should start around E3CF64. This can be mostly solved by changing the "suchbyte" and "suchbeginn" settings in the .ini file, but it seems that A-Map still uses its default search values when creating new map banks. This could potentially cause sound corruption.
In 1.95 you could either change the search values or make it so that A-Map is unable to use its default settings once the user has set new settings in the .ini. Whichever is easiest. Again, this is really only a problem for Emerald hackers. But since it should be easy to fix, I thought you might want to look into it if you haven't yet.

Just wanted to stop off and say what a wonderful Tool you have here. I haven't been around the block long, nor have I used any other program's, but yours by reputation seems to be the best, and so far I like.
If it hasn't already been discussed though, personally I think an easier way to Swap Tile sets would be a nice new thing. As well, deleting map's completely, i.e. my Rom Hack doesn't need Viridian Forest in FR, and while I know I can re-purpose that map / header, It'd be nice if I could just delete it all together instead of having to go through connections and events.
Just thought I'd voice my opinion is all. It still is a great program though, thank you.

It might be a simplistic point of view, and I am not a programmer, but I have seen user made programs do the same job for two different games. The program was for mass mod loading, but it's essentially the same thing, switching between game's to meet each ones differences.

dude you save it as whatever wherever it don't matter after you click the screwdriver making an x with the wrench.. and its in the game.if it goes back to the oirigin text then you messed up the script somewhere

I finally found the reason for the EFCreateErrors I was having!
It's all because I added "1.95" to the folder name. Removed it, and it works fine now!
EDIT: Never mind, it still is temperamental..
Perhaps it's because there's a space in the folder path?

For everyone that seems to be having a problem with the website, I too... am unable to enter the website. It comes up saying that it's not available, and that is more than likely to be due to the fact that the website's server is down wherever the website is hosted on. So I'm sure the website will come back up when Lu-Ho is aware of it. ;)
Yet... still looking forward to the new Advance Map, even though it still is in beta, I'm sure the actual version will be released much later. Not meaning to make everyone feel impatient but it's always best to let anyone take their time in developing their tools. ^^

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but whenever I try to create a map for Emerald it always calls itself LITTLEROOT TOWN, and links its header stuff to Littleroot, which is kind of annoying since it means I'm stuck with tilesets 0 and 1.

It is not possible to create new names.
so therefore each map is set to the first NameEntry.
you can choose the name (from the name list) you want in the header tab.

Okay, I'm pretty new to this whole ROM-editing, but on the older versions of Advancemap the script had six-ciphered offsets, whereas this has eight-ciphered and it's causing the ROM to crash ;/ I'm using PokeScript, so I don't know if that's where the problem is. Other than that, I love the new AM, and I haven't encountered other problems - awesome job :)

Some small GUI improvements to the "GreatBlock Pipette" would be nice.
I often find that once you've selected an area to copy, it's hard to line that up with existing terrain when pasting. (That is -- since the upper-left corner of the copy is anchored to the cursor, it's a bit hard to line up the right or bottom edges of the copied terrain with any existing terrain.)
A simple improvement would be to simply display a dashed-line border on the map, showing exactly where the copied terrain will be inserted if the user clicks. This would make it easier to line things up.
Aside from that and a few bugs (which I reported via e-mail), it's a great tool and I look forward to the next release.

Bug report: Wild Pokemon corruption on delete
Deleting wild Pokemon encounter lists will corrupt them, making it impossible to edit wild data for that map. Easiest solution, I think, would be to remove the ability to delete these lists, instead requiring the user to set the encounter ratio to 0.
Bug report: Map Connections are randomly corrupted
Also, AM will randomly and unpredictably corrupt maps' Map Connections data. The corruption ranges from mild to major and can usually be repaired in a hex editor if one can find the problem. The corruption happens to random maps (not just the ones that have actually been edited). In some cases, it gets ridiculous; for example, I just finished removing 140MB of null data that AdvanceMap tacked onto the end of a ROM when it tried to edit a map's connections.
Feature request: Error messages that are actually useful
On a related note, improvements could be made in how AdvanceMap handles corrupted data in maps. Currently, you have to jump through hoops in order to find out what in a map was corrupted. It would be nice to see a useful error message when loading the map ("Map connections for ROUTE 21 are corrupt!") instead of a message that reveals almost nothing about what actually went wrong ("ERROR: (ENotAPointer) AdvanceMapError(5): The value at $352C84 is not a Pointer!").

If anyone else is having problems with AdvanceMap corrupting data, then here's how to figure out where the damage happened. Note, you'll still need to find and repair/repoint the data with a hex editor to actually fix it:
Open AM. Load your ROM. Don't open any maps.
Open Map A.
If you see an error message, and if most of the tabs (i.e. "Wild Pokemon") don't do anything when clicked, then Map A is corrupted.
Open Map B, a non-corrupted map.
Open Map A again.
Check Map A's Wild Pokemon. If you see Map B's Wild Pokemon instead, then this is what got corrupted in Map A.
Check Map A's Map Connections. If you see Map B's Map Connections instead, then this is what got corrupted in Map A.
And so on and so forth for all other map data.

The issue is if I change a spot in front of an entrance in a house or something then I can't leave the map even if I put the original tile back.

I can confirm this. I broke a couple maps in my hack doing this without knowing. Anyways, I won't need to repoint/repair anything. I keep dozens of backs up so I'll just need to find the most recent without any wild Pokemon data changes, then re-do the changes on it. :)

I believe that it actually varies between ROMs. A value that does something in FireRed may do something else in Emerald. Try different values until you find the one you need.

how do i get the time of day and season drop down menus to work with the actual seasons and time of day? i go to a season or time of day, then start editing the wild pokemon that appear in the area, and when i save, it saves them for all seasons and all times of day. how do i differentiate? do i need to redo my dns patch, or is this feature not fully integrated into advance map properly?

I don't think Vista's your issue. AMap 1.95 works fine on my 7.
What's the folder path you installed it to? I remember someone earlier in the thread saying they got errors because of the foldername they used or something.

hi i download advance map beata 9.5 last night and i tryed opening the programme to use it but once i double click it says loading and then says that for a little bit more but never opens. i do not know why this is i have used advance map before on my computer but this one just dosent seem to like it or whant to open. thanks in advance for any help

One thing I noticed is that when you hover the mouse over the tool buttons at the top they have the wrong captions in the little box next to the mouse.
Also, I'm sure this must have been said many times before, but the ability to insert/view/change animated tiles within advance map would be a brilliant addition.

One thing I noticed is that when you hover the mouse over the tool buttons at the top they have the wrong captions in the little box next to the mouse.
A similar mismatch exists when hovering over events on a map. The status bar is supposed to show you "[Type] [Number on map]" for the event you hover over... But Person events are shown in the status bar as "Warp0" (no space), and Warps as "Person event0". Signposts and Scripts work normally (though also with no space between the type and the digit).

Did you try setting the time to a time close enough for the palettes to change? If you haven't, maybe that's why you can't see it. Also make sure you use a script that can set the date and month, try that and see if it works. ;)

huh? he's talking about inside of advance map, not in-game.
and that what dns IS, a script that sets the date and month.
if you use it, there are new menus in advance map specifically for previewing the palates as well as changing the seasonal pokemon.
i have had the same exact problem, and it is not user error, it is advance map not working properly, period.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but when you do connections sometimes there's a massive space in the preview window between the maps you want to connect.

The program works now :) Before when I tried opening it, It would get to the language selection box, but there'll be no languages so it wouldn't load. But now I've started making my first hack, Pokémon and the Legendary Black Emerald. I'm trying to put in the first four regions (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh), although I may leave out Sinnoh as you can only have 3 generations of Pokémon in the game before you use up all the space.

I'm unable to preview how my maps look during a certain time of the day. I installed the DNS, and the little drop down menu is there but it is not changing the palettes.

Each icon changes what happens when you click on a tile. One of them acts like a "Fill Tile" icon -- click on a chunk of blocks that use the same tile, and they all change. Make sure this isn't the one you have selected.

I got 1.92 to work, but 1.95 doesn't work with linux. I think that for now I'm stuck using 1.92. I hope you can still offer support for 1.92...

I have been looking for a solution to this but nobody has answer to this: the DNS fails to save the edited date in AM1.95 for a selected time of the day (ie. saving wild pokemon data for night-time). All it does is save the data to the entire day, not the specific time of the day. Any ideas? Please help

I'm fairly certain that's because A-Map doesn't currently support Day and Night Split Pokémon, although I could be wrong. I posted routines in the R&D section (if I remember right) and a short guide on how to actually use the DNS to have differing Pokémon at different times.
Anyway, I had a little suggestion to make to Lu-Ho for the full release of 1.95. I'm hoping he'll at least take it into consideration. As you may have noticed, I recently released a patch which adds the new Pokémon from generations 4 and 5 into a FireRed rom. However, A-Map is not compatible with the patch for editing wild Pokémon because the number of Pokémon in the ROM is set somewhere inside A-Map's coding, and not read from the ROM itself.
What I propose you could do is to read the length of the Pokédex from the ROM instead, rather than having a fixed length in the coding. I did a little research and found a possible INI point for BPR and BPG:
00 04 01 0C A1 42 04 D8 48 00 C0 18 00 88 90 42 F5 D1 XX 48 81 42 08 D0 48 1C 00 04 00 0C 05 E0
(The XX is 04 in all ROMs I have checked, but may differ in other languages)
This string appears twice in BPR and BPG, both of which are right after each other (more or less) and both of which have the same limiter basically right after it. The limiter appears in the second 4-byte aligned set of bytes after this string. It is the number of "legit" Pokémon in the ROM (so not including missingno). Simply add 1 to this number, and you can easily get the number of Pokémon in the ROM using an INI.
This is for BPR and BPG (all languages as far as I can tell). The same string of hex commands also appears in BPE and AXV, so it's a fairly safe assumption that it's also in AXP.
Hopefully you'll at least consider this idea. It will probably be much more work than I'm giving it credit for, but it would be a good idea in terms of future proofing A-Map for when it becomes more common for hacks to have added Pokémon.

It's upside down? I think this bug was reported way long ago, and a fix was achieved, maybe.
Also-- in the toolbox is XSE, and PKSV. I would not recommend unleashing the Hell known as Pokescript. :)

Actually, I know the reason of this:
You're using a Mac. A-map works best on Windows. Try using it on Windows or something instead.

That would undoubtedly be easier XD. I was only suggestion the above because it's in keeping with Lu-Ho's general philosophy of keeping the programme working with all ROMs at all times, because A-Map would automatically work out how many Pokémon it would need to cater for as soon as the ROM was opened.

I have two issues.
First one is with adding new maps. In Pokemon Emerald, I added new maps in 0.57, 0.58, 0.59, 0.60, 0.61, 0.62, 0.63, 0.64, 0.65, 0.66, 0.67, 0.68, 0.69, and 0.70. The problem is when I load these maps in-game, map 0.57 is always displayed, no matter if I warp into 0.70. I looked into the professional header, and noticed that these two highlighted values are always the same in these inserted maps. All the other maps have unique values, with the exception of PokeMarts, PokeCenters, and a few repeated buildings.

The second issue is with saving and loading blocks for TileSet 2. It seems as if it saves only the first TileSet Blocks, even if you tell the program to save TileSet 2 Blocks exclusively. This in turn makes me unable to import TileSet 2 blocks, so I have to make the blocks manually. Not a big problem like the first one, but just a minor annoyance.
Anyways, keep up the good work.

I'm sorry if someone has asked this already, but I'm having some problems saving with advancemap. I'll save my changes to my map, but when I load the rom they won't be changed and upon reopening the rom in advance map the changes will still show up. What's baffling is that it used to save them perfectly fine, but suddenly started being defiant. Even saving the whole of the rom in another location leaves me with the same results. The edited map opens in advancemap, but not in the rom. The only thing I can think of that I changed is that I had to switch how VisualBoyAdvance saves because it refused to allow me to save my data in-game, but I can't imagine that would have any effect and changing it back did nothing. If anyone knows how to fix this, it would be most appreciated.

i used to run it on my MAC with wine but that only happened in the movement permissions i didnit bother with that because i got my PC(i mean the computer) working again so you should find a better version of wine or get a PC (i like MACs and my MAC and PC are connected to the same hard drive:)

What he means is that you're able to create a entirely new fresh blank tileset instead of inserting it manually and wasting space the down part about 1.95 is that you can't insert tiles any other way then using paint.

I'm so confused. All download links take me to this "no-ip" thing and it's basically just a worthless search engine style advertisement fest. I never have this problem with any other downloads for programs either.

I tried the link...some problems;
Mcafee tried to block it, so I turned Mcafee off.
When I went there, it redirected me to a scammy-looking web browser overloaded with ads, so I closed it all down.

I have a small problem here. It seems the offsets are two digits longer now, but that sucks, because in XSE, clicking 'Copy' only takes 6 digits, like 8000D8 for example. If I paste this in A-Map, it adds '80', so the offset box looks like this: '$8000D880'
Is that normal ?

So, couldnt find it in the search function, but what's the deal with the glichy tilesets? Sometimes they work fine, other times it's just a lot of bright colors and no sprites. Is this a known bug? Is it possible to fix it/avoid it?

Hey! When I make a warp in Advance Map from a town to a cave, I just get to a black screen. I am 100% sure that I am warping to the right bank and map, and I just can't understand what's wrong. Could this be a bug in Advancemap 1.95?

Hi everybody!
I'm sorry but I'm a noob here and I don't know where to post this question:
I'm using Advancemap and pksv as script editor.
I've made so far 3 talking scripts (using script generator of pksv) on the same map, and they work perfectly.
But when I create a 4th talking script on the same map, the person with that script only says the 2nd or 3rd script.
What it's happening and how should I correct this?

okay, it´s right that you can change the language when you click Sprache. Sprache means language.
So you don´t have the opportunity to change the language? Have you deleted some language files?

You should try to insert the following in the "Sprachen.ini" in the Ini-folder:

Any ideas?

Okay, this is pretty weird! I had the folder AdvanceMap along with its contents in another folder, called Pokémon. Replacing the é in Pokémon with a regular e, for some reason, changes the language to English and allows me to change it again. Strange, but it fixed my problem so I can't complain!

Just put this special in your script when giving the pokedex:

Thanks, but I know that and I am sorry if my question was inarticulate. I already have this in my script - what I want to to is to edit the later part of the game where Birch would actually give you the national dex to make the story logical again. It might be purely aesthetical but the conversation would not make sense as you already have received the national dex at the beginning of the game, so I do not want Birch to give it to the player once again. The actual problem is that I cannot seem to find the mentioned script.

This version of AM can't work with special chars like 'é', 'è', 'ä', 'ö', 'ü'... If there are these chars in the filepaths, it won't work ;)

Well I cant help you then, as I hack FR and not Emerald :) you could just forget about the birch script entirely, and script in the birch meeting place from scratch in the place you want it to be. If you then come across the birch script while making the game you can then delete it from the game entirely. ;)

I've downloaded every version that I could find, but none will open. I've tried troubleshooting the problem, but it says that the programme is 'Not compatible'.
I have Windows 7, so it should work.
Any suggestions?

Try opening a clean ROM. AM checks the rom-code, wether it's a Pokémon-ROM, so if the header is modified, AM won't open your ROM.

Yes, and no, depends on what you want to do, if you go into advanced header view I believe you can edit the header & footer,
but if you mean the map name header then NO, but you could take a look here:
