What are YOUR favorite Jrock bands and why?
Dir En Grey

I quite like L'Arc~En~Ciel and Abingdon Boys School, but my favourite would definitely be supercell - both with Miku and with Nagi. Quite different, but both wonderful.

I like SCANDAL and stereopony (but they're more...pop-rock) but I also like heidi. :)
Epic Edit ~
I also like Judy & Mary, High and Mighty Color (with the first vocalist), SID.
Visual Kei ftw! XD

Dir en Grey are by far my favourite, the only Japanese band i've seen live.

High and Mighty Color > Everything.
I also like YUI, Flow, UVERworld, Girl's Dead Monster, Remeo Romen, Genki Sudo, Ai Otsuka, School Food Punishment, Do As Infinity, L'arc en Ciel, Lynch, Aoi/Bounty, and Does. Not all of these are actually rock, I suppose... but I figured I might as well list them all.
I actually listen to Vocaloid more than anything, specifically Yuyoyuppe, but I dunno if that really counts as a band.

Tommy Heavenly 6*
Most of which are, or used to be Visual Kei.. xD;
* remembered these two thanks to Scarf. ffff

Pfft, how mainstream. I bet you haven't even heard of the bands I-
Heh, okay, joking. My favorite rock bands would be Jinn, and The Pillows. And whatever group does my Vocaloid rock songs. And, though they aren't rock, I'll plug HIGHTENGIRLS2, because they're awesome.

Ick. Vocaloid. /snob
I like L'Arc~en~Ciel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plfrjkfMZcY) because Hyde is sexy has a great voice and the rest of the music is good, too. Asian Kung-Fu Generation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ePEbtpipn0) is another one I like because it's just a good rock band all around, and so is Radwimps (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MaF-bWeLGw). Radwimps also gets points in my book for having a very talented singer.
My favorite bands overall are Do As Infinity (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEbDBuUEbnE) and Sakanaction (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggE0UedChZk) (サカナクション). DAI is kind of rock/pop, but lots of fun and full of energy and Tomiko has a powerful voice. Sakanaction has an electronic slant and is just super amazing in how the music sounds. I don't know the right terms to describe music, but their music has this adaptive quality that makes every song unique and worth listening to. Superfly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_MsZ5giB0M) is also amazing for the kind powerful vocals you don't normally get from female j-rock acts. The kind of 60s inspired style she has is also, well, super.
Sometimes a little Bump of Chicken (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz8A889diyQ&) is nice although they aren't my favorite, and some old visual kei stuff is fun sometimes, but I haven't really looked into anything recently. I also listen to The Brilliant Green (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3k2X8vJ7FIA) because, well, they're fun and so is their lead singer's side project, Tommy Heavenly6 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlIBG6O25H4). More fun can be had with Judy and Mary (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhzVTqmnGlM) with their 90s pop-rock-punk sound. I should also mention The Pillows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2Zj3mWjsfg) before I make this even more tl;dr than it already is.
Wow, some of those videos are pretty bad...

Ick. Vocaloid. /snob.
xDD /couldn't resist
I don't really listen to JRock anymore, but when I did...
L'Arc~En~Ciel, of course because they're just default.
alice nine. whom I will forever write in their stylized fashion because I'm an oldie fan.
AKFG and UVERWorld, because they're default too.
VELTPUNCH because they have AMAZING harmonies.
One OK Rock has good vocamashes.
Vana 'N' Ice would be your vocaloid visual kei band, I like them too.
DECO*27's rock is pretty good, though rarer.
SCANDAL is always a hit.
Nightmare has really great visual kei style music.
Kagrra does too, and I CANNOT believe they disbanded.
Maximum the Hormone, for all your Death Note necessities and many other wonderful songs.
The TRAX has excellent japanese rock, but their Japanese music is a little more pop-ish than rock.
BACK-ON is great no matter what- I love their blend of rap and rock.
12012, lovely visual kei group.
HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR -> Before they messed up their line-up with that awful girl.[/SIZE]

I love Aqua Timez, even though they do a bit of J-Pop. It's still fine though~ I also like SID, but I haven't listened to a lot of their songs.
