Just starting this thread to get some conversation flowing about the latest and greatest in your personal music scene. What band have you lately fallen in love with? Or what album have you lately dove into?

I might be a little late on this one, but I've been listening to The Kings of Leon nonstop lately. More specifically, Because of the Times. If you haven't yet heard of them Kings, they're right up your alley if you're into blues/rock, with a southern american base.

So what are you guys listening to lately!?

edit: hmmm seems 'discovered' is probably the wrong choice of word here. basically what I mean is just, what album have you been listening to a lot lately?

I've already discovered the Kings<3 They're my favorite band. Anyway, latest album I've discovered, as I'm sure a lot of people have, is Britney Spears' Femme Fatale. Personally, I'm not overly impressed with it. It's just not the same Britney I'm used to, but you know, all artists change over time, like Kings of Leon, and I can respect that. I love both the singles from the album, and I really love I Wanna Go, Don't Keep Me Waiting, and How I Roll. Some songs on there are just...I don't know, they feel lacking. But it's still a good album, and I don't regret having it in my library.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire. Probably the band's most consistent album, but the highs on Funeral and The Suburbs greatly outweigh the highs on NB. Still, with great tracks like 'Black Mirror', 'Intervention' and 'Ocean of Noise' and no real downers, the album works remarkably well and has a really nice flow to it.

Still, saying all of this, considering I've been listening to it for about a month, it's hardly a 'discovery'. Just a reminder that I need to listen to more music... -_-

Last album I got was DRUGS' self titled album. Probably the most amazing music I've heard. Craig Owens pretty much destroys the competition with his amazing voice. The album already has 600 plays in my iTunes. c:

Been really getting into Young The Giant lately. Their "My Body" track is wonderfully catchy. Also been listening to lots of Florence + The Machine as well. My goodness, she's amazing. I cannot wait for her next record!

I generally don't listen to whole albums, I'll sample songs from artists i've heard about from my friends or something first and then decide if I want to purchase/listen to a whole album. Though the last album I listened to all the way through and loved was The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place by the band Explosions in the Sky. It's all instrumental and it's crazy how these guys can convey so much emotion in a song with no vocals, I love it :)

I also like how the songs bleed into eachother, so in order to get the whole experience, you have to listen to the songs in order. I wasn't crazy about this band at first but I went back and listened to this album and I've been a fan since. They have a new one coming out this month (Take Care, Take Care, Take Care) :D SO EXCITED.

my favorite tracks from the album: your hand in mine (I could listen to it all day, seriously) and the only moment we were alone.

I've been listening to Hellogoodbye's newest album lately, and all of the songs on it are great. I had a chance to see them in New Orleans a while back, but I had to work so I couldn't go :/ Sucks, I know.

Thanks to the sexy Penatrait, I'm hooked on The Mars Volta's album De-loused in the Comatorium. I'm not even done listening to it and I'm already crazy about it, haha. Thanks, Marzie. :)

Don't know how familiar you are with the post-rock scene, but you should look some more into those guys and bands like them. That whole scene is fantastic. Personal favorites: EF, God Is an Astronaut, The American Dollar, Mono and Caspian. Necessities: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Sigur Ros, and Mogwai. :D

I'm going to take discovered literally here...

Last summer I was walking around in Target this gem caught my eye:

https://img.skitch.com/20110412-xg9r18bq5xx3jmcfadf6iiewne.jpg (https://img.skitch.com/20110412-xg9r18bq5xx3jmcfadf6iiewne.jpg)

I bought it just because I absolutely loved the album cover and was on whim to find new music. Put that sucker in the stereo and o____O was the expression I had when I started playing the tracks. It took some getting used to for me to really fall in love with the album, but I did. It was the soundtrack of my summer. It also happened to be the best purchase I ever made in terms of buying music and it was legit the only album I ever truly discovered. Most of the time I'm just looking for music. This music looked for me, I feel.

I love that album.
It's actually the only EitS album i've listened to :P
God is an Astronaut is in the same genre and is also really good.

For me, lately i've been listening to the Cowboy Bebop OST by The Seatbelts.
Spokey Dokey is definitely my favorite song on there. Harmonica + a little blues guitar.
So soulful.
