Bulbanews (http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/4Kids_Entertainment_files_for_bankruptcy)

Five years after (http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/4Kids_gives_up_Pok%C3%A9mon_license) the company ceased dubbing the Pokémon anime, 4Kids Entertainment (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/4Kids_Entertainment) has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapter_11,_Title_11,_United_States_Code). 4Kids controlled the English dub of the Pokémon anime (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_anime) from the first episode (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/EP001) (1998) through the eighth season (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon:_Advanced_Battle) (2005). The filing does not mean that 4Kids will need to make any financial or corporate adjustments...

So the company won't be going down any time soon, but they're still in a pretty dire situation. For all the hate they get, I remember the 4kids dubbed series with fondness.

This article (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-03-31/4kids-files-shareholders-report-on-yu-gi-oh-lawsuit) also goes a bit more into it, from a different standpoint.

Basically NAS is pissed off at 4Kids, for owing them a ton of money, to make a long story short. Al Kahn stepped down and resigned from the company a few months back, too. Me thinks he knew all this was going down.

Good game, 4Kids.

Even if they can lie their way out of this, they'll be seriously hurt.

Good riddance.

Maybe now companies will stop giving them anime, which they will then RAPE EDIT it.

*leaves while also, at the same time, flipping everyone off*

My childhood is being sued to death. ;_;

Those memories of waking up on Saturdays to watch FoxBox/4kids. ;_;

So long 4kids, you may be leaving, but the imprint you've left on the industry of bringing foreign cartoons to English speaking shores will forever be remembered. Even if people want to burn your HQ down, they owe you more than they let on. (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=6127058&postcount=20)

Great! I'll go celebrate!

Anyways, the ONE good show they EVER got totally right was Dinosaur King.

Everything else was mutilated and molested, especially Shaman King, Pokemon, One Piece, YuGiOh, and Sonic X.

EDIT: If they ever got Digimon Xros Wars, they'd screw that up too, and I'd never forgive them. Thank the freakin' powers that be that they're goin bankrupt! Luckily, they never had Digimon in the first place.

And amen.

Seriously, if they hadn't screwed everything up so bad I could maybe bear to watch english dubbed anime but I simply can't. Things like Shaman King were just ridiculous at some points.

I'll just stick to subtitles till my Japanese gets better.

At least someone has some common sense...

Although...

I still prefer dubbed anime, but, that's just me.
