Heya Guys, not sure what to say here so I'll just ramble. I'm developing a Pokemon Game and figured getting community feedback/posting progress updates would help keep me motivated, so I whacked "Pokemon Forum" into Google and you were the top hit. I wasn't going to make an introduction post, but since I need 15 posts before I can post a thread about my game (Well, to put images in a thread about my game) I figured why not.

Soooo....that's about it really since doing "About Me" will bore people to death.

Hi!

Hey Scyan. What's up ?? Welcome to PC. This is the best place for you to get feedback and help on your game. and by produce, you mean RMXP produce or are you scripting the whole thing from the ground up in Java or C++ ??
Hey Pedro, I'm developing it from the ground up in Java using the Slick 2D and TMX tiles for the map. It's in very early dev atm, I'm just working on getting a skeleton version running and writing the story. I'm hoping it will be different enough from the originals to provide something new and enjoyable, while at the same time keeping the parts that make Pokemon great. I'm also contemplating possibly adding a multiplayer feature so 10/20/50/100 people can all be on the same map, and trade/battle when they meet each other.

Screen Shot of Daycare Starting Place(There are multiple "people" you can play as, with their own staring areas): i.imgur.{REMOVE}com/{REMOVE}WPzDF.{REMOVE}pngnice, i really like the multiplayer idea. lol. i'm not a programmer, but i'm gonna take some classes this summer, and i hope to major in IT after i finish my original major (mechanical Engineering). Its a hobby. I can understand scripts, somewhat.

Programming as a hobby is good, I'm not one by profession either. I've never done any advanced game dev before, let alone multiplayer so this project is to help me improve my skills in those areas, and have a fun time.

The only thing I wonder is what is Nintendo's policy about Fan Made Games? Especially ones that use their artwork. I can't see any trouble as the game would be free and open source, but I would rather not get a nasty court summons lol

Hello Scyan. Welcome to the forums.

The idea of creating a Pokemon game is what brought me here too, but I just cant seem to get my head around it. I have a great imagination, its a shame I cant put it to good use. I guess it will have to be a case of trial and error... Anyways, I wish you the best of luck with your game... don't lose the motivation. Too many creators give up on their games, wasting all of their time and effort.

See you around... :)

Hey Markus, I know what you mean. It can be very frustration when you have great ideas but have no idea how to express yourself. I've always wanted to write a book, but I suck at transferring my ideas from my head to paper.

hey sycan! i'm nelauk, one of the new members on this forum. it's a pleasure to meet you.

Nice to meet you too =)

Heya Scyan, welcome to PC! I'm glad that you were like me and so many others by finding PC via Google. :D; I'm proud of you because this community is amazing, and has amazing people just like yourself, etc. ♥

Please don't hesitate to PM either me or Hiirdoan(the forum mod) if you need any help and whatnot, okay?

So you're not making a game using the standard hacking/RMXP tools? I guess that's kinda cool if you ask me, but I wouldn't know since I've never tried to make a game before. I made a game using Game Maker once, and that was a simple space invaders-esque style, except you had to shoot a Pacman, and it was a tutorial. XD So yeah, enough of my fail of a game. You'll most likely want to check out the Game Development (http://www.pokecommunity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=54) section if you want to post about your game. I tried getting interest in a game, but I have no idea how to use RMXP or anything, so I gave up. :P

Welcome aboard. If you need any question asked (about the forum, not game dev.), then you can ask me. :)

Yep, no ROM Hacking or RMXP Tools. Although I am making use of a TileMapEditor to make the maps, and a 2d Game Engine to make the dev easier. It's really not has hard as you think, people just seem to have a phobia of code and need a Drop and Drag interface to make things easier.
