Jirachi works great in hail tbh, because HAX IS USEFUL IN ALL WEATHERS /redeeming point

I get too much hax when versing you, so it is mostly ineffective.

I do tend to have very lucky Scald (aka one of the best new moves imo).

It's been a while since I've played competitive. So how are you guys doing?

I'm currently trying to include a Mawile and a Emolga in all of my teams (even OU *shot*) because underrated wall and underrated sweepers need some love. I'm also loving my DuoWeather Sunny Rain Team (which is the only team that doesn't have Mawile or Emolga :I)

It has made me think about all the people who would've been really angry about the removal of some TMs.

For now, we're limiting clans to three which are Nica's, Ooka's and mine (we're doing it together), and Wolf's...if only because of the limited userbase! If that ever changes, we'll get rid of the limit which I know kind of sucks but this is more of a "let's get things rolling" than a "this is how it will always be" type of thing.

I'm really really excited for this!

So I got a PM about posting here about clans. I gotta say, I have no idea what to say exactly, even after reading the posts on this page and last lol

I guess I just say I support the idea of clans?

As for the limit Anti was talking about, I'm in full support of that. As much as I'd like to make my own clan, my activity is erratic and the clan would fall under new management or disappear sooner or later. You guys have seem to have found a nice group of battlers to run the clans consistently. I think one of the biggest problems when PC used to have clans the first time around were people going around left and right, making random clans for themselves? Correct me if I'm wrong, haha.

It better be in January because there are only a couple days of December left and if we wait until February we're just gonna keep delaying. I say it should be done in a week, maybe two max. If things aren't put together now they never will be, and I have a history of slacking off with things.

Okay so there's one positive about PO's update earlier today, that being that WE CAN SAVE OUR PASSWORDS FINALLY, OMG. Like seriously, it is so annoying having to type a password every time, etc, sooo glad that doesn't have to happen anymore.

The auto "flash when a new attack occurs" is annoying (it can be disabled but automatically enabled sucks), and typing in a chat window, idk, it just says ": is watching the battle", which is really weird - hopefully it can be fixed though! And the new "theme", I am not a fan. :x

BUT SERIOUSLY, PASSWORD SAVING. AMAZING.

OOH. OOH. OOH. AND AN OPEN REPLAY OPTION? That's awesome tbh. Sucks that only logs saved after then work. Very useful!!

Heh, forgot RU/NU changes D_A. :/

Krookodile rose to UU. Golurk, Sigilyph, Cresselia, Spiritomb, Whimsicott and Aerodactyl all dropped to RU. Smeargle, Magneton, Lanturn, Slowking, Rhydon, Roselia, Klinklang, Druddigon, Poliwrath, and Scolipede all moved up to RU. Victreebel was the lone drop from RU to NU.

Dark Azelf

@ Drakow, Donphan sucks imo, it loses to the most common Spikers in the game (Ferro). Loses even worse to the most common ghosts (Gengar, Sableye and Jellicent) and people just dont use it correctly and use Terrible Shard on it. Ice Shard has always been bad, it didnt beat Garchomp back in the day when phan was OU nor does it beat any other 4x weak dragon because its just so weak as in Max Attack Adamant Donphan cant even OHKO Min HP / Min Def Nite AFTER SR with it. Assurance is far better because then you can actually touch ghosts but not much lol. Its also dead weight against any weather teams, loses horribly to all entry hazards bar SR, no recovery. Just blegh. I have no idea why you'd use it over other spinners.

At least in UU it can beat spin blockers like Froslass with Head Smash and EQ. -_-

Discuss ?

Alakazam, Chansey and Mamoswine deserve their OU places.

Dugtrio, I've never really used, Donphan isn't that good in OU, and are people trying to use Jolteon as a pseudo-Thundurus of sorts? :x

Forgot about Tornadus, yah OU good etc

SWAMPERT IN UU OMG. ;-; i loved using him. Zong gone is kinda good since I won't see his as much. But then again I liked using him.

To be honest, I don't really think Dugtrio deserves OU status because once it kills something, Scizor can just come in and kill it with Bullet Punch or Pursuit.

I guess the strategy would be to have a Pokemon to take out Scizor and other priority users and Jolteon first AND THEN send in Dugtrio. And of course spinners, etc, etc. Too much hassle for me but hey if some people like that complicated stuff needing two Pokemon to be able to use just that one properly, then good for them.

Ah, didn't think about that. But I agree--Dugtrio is a Pokemon that needs a lot of support to use well.

To be honest, I don't really think Ferrothorn deserves OU status because once it kills something, Magnezone can just come in and kill it with HP Fire or Charge Beam and Sub.

See how silly that is i can make that argument for anything lol. Plus if Dug has already killed something hasn't it done its job ?

Also Dug is ou most likely because of sun teams, it essentially is a free Tyranitar kill and it provides a little team support for sun, being able to set up SR. (New standard set which is; Sub or SR, Reversal, EQ, Stone Edge @ Sash). Its a death sentence to Blissey, Heatran and Tyranitar, two major foes to sun.

It's not a decision lol. Tiers are based on usage; Sigilyph wasn't used in enough in UU so it moved down a tier.

It's not really a decision; Smogon just uses an arbitrary cutoff to determine which Pokemon fall into the usage bracket for a certain tier. The usage statistics each month dictate the tier shifts that happen every three months. The only 'decision' being made is the process used to carry this out, Smogon's tiering leaders only dictate which Pokemon belongs in a certain tier by banning them; everything else is a result of usage on Pokemon Online's ladder for a given tier.

No one wants to do a Pokemon Hunger Games? :(

If you haven't read about it, go here (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=7001977&postcount=2).

Through browsing the forums, I found that this idea was "attempted" before in a similar format by Karpman. You can read about that here (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=257085).

In any case, I just wanted to know what everyone else thought of the idea.

EDIT: In order to make the idea more like the Hunger Games, instead of having a bracket, competitors choose their own opponents. No player can deny a battle, either. This is to further enhance the survivalist feel, as well as more incentive to team up, if you feel you're weaker than the competition.

If it's set up, then generally most of the time you're going with Hyper Offense and could use something for screens to allow you to set up. Generally Deoxys-D, Bronzong, Latios, Latias (to an extent), Azelf and Mew are all effective at setting up dual screens (reflect, light screen), depending on which fits into your team better. Most of those could also optionally use hazards on those sets too, so it's up to whatever you feel best fits.

But yeah, the lead type depends on what sort of team you're running - aka screener for HO, hazards for stall, weather abuser for weather, etc.

If it's centered around boosting, you might consider forming a baton pass team.

I'd reccomend Ninjask or Smeargle for your lead in that regard, maybe Ninjask over Smeargle because Ninjask is harder to stop without phazing, while Smeargle gets torn to pieces by the likes of Conkeldurr.

No offense, but it's nearly impossible to build a team of favorites that doesn't end up becoming unbalanced, but do what you want.

The Games • Registry & Pool • Teams & Battles • Mentors • Victors • The Quarter Quells • Rules & Clauses

[a id]intro[/a id]The Survival Games
Clans are where camaraderies are formed, yet also where trainers strive to become better than their peers. Despite this, they are also a family of battlers. These families are no ordinary families, though, as they hold great pride in their proficiency in battle. As a result, the Survival Games were born. During the Games, each clan must offer two contestants. The two representatives will then be pooled with the representatives of other clans, and thrown into an arena where they must fight until only one is standing. Clans themselves decide how their representatives are chosen, whether it be through voting, volunteering, or other methods. Contestants can not participate in more than one game per five. For example, if player X participates in the first Games, no matter whether they win or lose, they cannot participate again until the sixth Games. Of course, the rest period may increase when the clans themselves get bigger. For now, the rest period may be decreased in order to accomodate clan size.

[a id]r&p[/a id]Pokémon Registry & Pokémon Pool
Upon entering the Games, each contestant will register 10 Pokemon. These 10 Pokémon will make up a player's initial Pokémon Pool. Only Pokémon from the Pokémon Pool may be used in battle. A player may switch around/substitute Pokemon in their team whenever they feel like. Movesets and/or EV/IV spreads are not required, and a single Pokemon may have multiple movesets and/or EV/IV spreads throughout the Games. Once a player has decided on the 10 Pokémon they would like to use, they are to send the Gamemaker a PM containing the names of the 10 species they want to register.

After each battle, Pokémon who have fainted must be reported to the thread/Gamemaker. Fainted Pokémon will no longer be available for battle and will promptly be removed from their player's Pokémon Pool. Pokémon may be reinstated into the pool through methods, discussed below. In addition, after defeating an opponent, a player may select one of the opponent's registered Pokémon and add it to their own pool of usable Pokémon. The Pokémon selected must have been present in the battle between the player and the loser. As with any Pokémon in the player's pool of usable Pokémon, movesets and/or EV/IV spreads may be changed at any time.

In order to enhance the survival feel, players can battle with teams that contain less than six Pokémon. For example, if a player narrowly defeats their first opponent with a 1-0 record, they'd only have five total usable Pokémon left, including the ones from their Pool. In addition to these five, the player will be able to select a single Pokémon from the team of the enemy they defeated. They now have a full team of six, again. Now let's say they defeat their next opponent through a 3-0. Including the Pokémon from the opponent's team they can take, they'll only have four Pokémon left. The player cannot add anymore Pokémon to the team. From there, the player will have to go through the remainder of the Games using only four Pokemon, until more are lost or more members are added.

The Games will not begin until all players have registered their Pokémon.

[a id]t&b[/a id]Teams & Battles
Unlike typical tournaments, the Survival Games will not have any sort of bracket. The contestants actually get to choose who they battle. This may seem unfair, but the tournament is based on survival, meaning even if weeding out the weaker is the only way to ensure your survival, what must be done, must be done. Each battle will only have one round. This means despite the possibility of hax, a player only gets one chance to defeat a player. If the player should lose, they are eliminated from the game effective immediate. However, players can also team up for both offensive and defensive purposes as well. Offensive teams, as the name suggests, go hunting for other players. They initiate the challenges. Defensive teams sit idly by and try to extend their stay, battling only when provoked. Despite being two different approaches, offensive and defensive teams function relatively the same.

Offensively, the team of attackers must attack until their victim(s) is/are defeated. In addition to the Pokémon that they may retrieve from their opponent's team after a victory, an attacker from a team may also revive one of their Pokémon that had fainted during the course of the battle. Not all members of a team must battle during an attack if the victim(s) is/are defeated before they get the chance to gear up. For example, say a team of two people try attacking a single player. The first attacker defeats the victim. The victim is eliminated from the team. Both members of the team may select a Pokémon from the victim's team to add to their own Pool. The player who actually dealt the finishing blow, obviously gets the first pick. Going back to earlier, if a member of the team doesn't actually participate in and win a battle, they cannot revive a Pokémon of their own.

Defensively, a defending team must defeat all of their attackers. Like usual, if a player on a defensive team wins, they can add a Pokémon from the team of their attacker to their own Pool. Unlike an offensive team, however, members of a defensive team do not have the privilege of reviving one of their own fainted Pokémon. They can, however, revive a teammate who'd been defeated in battle. In doing so, the teammate returns to the Games with only the Pokémon from their Pool who had not been yet fainted. All the fainted Pokémon are added to the revivers Pool and are in fully usable condition. For example, say that P1 and P2 teamed up. P2 began the team with a Charmander, Torchic, and Snivy. P2's Charmander had fainted prior to the two players teaming up. While a team, they are attacked by P3. P2 and their Torchic are defeated in the process. P1 then comes to the rescue and defeats P3. P1 then goes on to revive P2. At this point, P2 only has a Snivy left. Snivy is the only Pokémon P2 can use unless more are added through winning battles. P1, however, gets to add both Charmander and Torchic to their Pool in perfectly healthy conditions. Like with offensive teams, all members of a defensive team may select Pokemon from a defeated attacker's team and add it to their own Pool. This is provided, however, that the player himself was not defeated during battle. Going back to our example, P1 would be able to take one of P3's Pokémon, while P2 would not be able to do the same.

[a id]mentors[/a id]Mentors
Mentors are previous victors of the Games. They serve a few purposes during the Games. First off, a mentor can only assist a fellow member of the clan they belong to. Once the Games begin, mentors will all be sent a copy of every player's Pool. It is up to the mentor what to do with this information. They can keep it a secret, or they can help their student, the current contestant in the Games, come up with a strategy to stay alive. However, mentors are only to contact their student. They cannot talk to or help any other contestant during the Games. Aside from this, mentors can also send their student presents during the games. Whenever a contestant wins a battle, they earn 10 points. A mentor can use these points to purchase gifts for the student during the games. The price of gifts will grow with every elimination that occurs, save for the first. For example, after the first battle has occurred, it would cost a mentor one point to send their student a Potion. The student can then use this Potion to revive any fainted members of their Pool. However, by the end of the tournament, this same Potion could cost 10 points. A Points and Gifts system will be developed later.

[a id]victors[/a id]Victors
The names of victors, along with a log of all their battles, will be recorded into an archive for all to see. In future Games, the victor will be able to take on the role of a mentor. Prizes can be discussed later on.

[a id]QQ[/a id]The Quarter Quells
The Quarter Quells take place every 25 Games. What sets them apart from normal Games is that they usually have additional rules to make the Game in particular more interesting. Possible Quarter Quell ideas involve having twice as many participants, allowing Pools to grow by 50%-100% in size, or letting players affected by the rest period to participate.

Personally, I think it'd be an interesting way to add more activity to clans, not only by increasing their member roster, but also by encouraging clans to participate in community activities, instead of just hosting their own tournaments and the like.

— Hacked Pokémon are banned.
Pokémon with typing, stats, ability, height/weight, and moves that can't be obtained in-game without the use of a cheating device (such as Action Replay) are banned. Hacked Pokémon with normal features (AKA legal hacks) are allowed though. If both you and the opponent agree on allowing hacked Pokémon, you may use them. Any suspicion of illegal use of hacked Pokémon should be reported.

I don't personally think the speed drop will be that troublesome. Run LO and you got something like Dragon Claw or Outrage/Earthquake/Extremespeed/V-Create. ES gives you priority to make up for the speed loss and V-Create lets you poop on Skarmory/Forry etc.

I don't personally think the speed drop will be that troublesome. Run LO and you got something like Dragon Claw or Outrage/Earthquake/Extremespeed/V-Create. ES gives you priority to make up for the speed loss and V-Create lets you poop on Skarmory/Forry etc.

Or Rayquaza can opt for a Choice set. Choice sets tend to switch a lot, so the (Special) Defense and Speed drops become almost a non-issue there as well.

I was thinking of a Dragon Dance set lol. Can negate speed drops with Dragon Dance which could be quite good. Can always give it a White Herb too.

Yeah I'd probably go with PlatDude's suggestion of Choice items because really, while I can handle defense drops of CC, I wouldn't be able to handle Speed drops unless they're defensively based like Quagsire & Curse. :x

Idk just having to DD after every attack would be annoying to do imo unless you do have screens up in that time.

Then again that's assuming I would play Ubers which I pretty much doubt I would, but still!

But being weak to rocks makes switching an issue lol

Personally, I'd run a set similar to Dragonite:

-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-ExtremeSpeed
-V-Create

After a DD, you have a free V-Create to launch off. If you get the chance you can DD again if you ever drop below your normal speed. If you drop below it again cause of V-Create, well, it wouldn't really matter then because Extremespeed with your attack boosts is going to hurt.

That's what Rapid Spin support is for.

Still, I wouldn't use that set; even though ExtremeSpeed makes up for V-Create's Speed drops, it might not be enough to take down an opponent in some cases and V-Create's (Special) Defense drops make it difficult to set up another DD. True, you can switch, but SR causes problems (again, Rapid Spin support is needed).

It's just mostly my style shining through haha. I hate switching and I'm not a big fan of the choice items since they lock you in. The set I mentioned simply fit my style of play the best lol.

and I've don't really see a Choiced set sitting well with Rayquaza. It has a good list of resistances and an immunity, but it's defenses aren't all that amazing. Even with RS support, I don't see Rayquaza surviving all that long. Unless you Scarf if for revenge killing purposes in which case I feel like it's simply outclassed by Garchomp, especially if your Scarfed boost in speed is null after just one V-Create. But I guess it could work if you switch it out immediately, who knows? lol

Too much switching.. I don't like >< hahaha

sd would probably be a better option than dragon dance, you're losing speed anyway, so you might as well as hit as hard as you can as fast as your can.

The problem I see with SD is that Rayquaza's speed to begin with isn't that great. After a V-Create, not only will it lost speed, it'll also lose it's already average defenses. This just opens it up for revenge killing by.. Well, a ton of things. This would cause you to have to switch in and out constantly. If you run a set like this, you might as well go with a Choice Item and forgo the ability to switch attacks.

Besides, if after a SD and V-Create, you plan on firing off ExtremeSpeeds, the opponent could easily exploit the fact that a Normal attack is all you have in your arsenal that poses a moderate threat.

In any case, even with the threat of V-Create, after Rayquaza using it just once, I can see a banded Scizor easily coming in and offing it with Bullet Punch. Especially if it only stands a chance using ExtremeSpeed, unless +2 ES can OHKO Scizor (I haven't done any calculations).

Ooka
January 20th, 2012, 12:20 PM
Or just run Expert Belt and fake CB. Hit something with V-Create like Ferrothorn, kill it off, then they bring in something weak (Deo-A) to revenge and surprise them with Extremespeed, if nothing else you do a lot of damage.

In the case of Scizor I'd just switch, they won't be bringing it in much with VCreate floating around.

champagnepapi
January 20th, 2012, 12:25 PM
Expert Belt seems nice, but I think Gamer's suggestion is probably the best, not sure why you'd waste time boosting speed when you'll eventually lose it; +2 attack allows you to smash something with V0Create/STAB and then wreak additional havoc with Espeed.

I am considering getting into battling in OU competitively, and I don't really want to take the time and breed for perfect IV's. I know it can really change the potential of your team if they are absolutely maxed out. But still....it takes way too long, even with the flawless Ditto + power item method is used.

Actually, most of us use Pokemon Online, which is a battle simulator meaning you wouldn't have to breed/Ev train etc. You just go on to it make a team and get battling. We even have our own server on it. Although, some people do battle competitively using their cartridges. Which people usually just RNG their Pokemon.

Even though I battle competitively, I don't breed/try to catch Pokemon with perfect IVs, since it's very time consuming. I go for IVs of 20-31 in the stats I'm taking advantage of.

You can always RNG for Pokemon with perfect IVs. I tried that a few times, but I failed miserably.

I did get a flawless Dragonite (31/31/31/x/31/31). Once. After about a month of breeding and three boxes of Dratini. Dragonite's my favorite pokemon so I just had to get the best. Other than that I've settled for IVs in the 20's.

I don't know if there is a thread on this, so I'll post here.

For when Keledo comes out, and becomes legal to use. I've come up with a set for it to use.

It doesn't have much options in the special field, so this is the best set I could come up with

Timid/Modest
EV 252 SPAtk, 252 Spd, 4 Df
Item - Life Orb
Moves
-Calm Mind
-Focus Blast/Secret Sword
-Surf/Scald
-Hidden Power (Ice, Fire, Ground)

You could also replace calm mind with Secret Sword and have a choice item on this Pokemon.

I would assume this Pokemon would be in UU or BL teir due to the crap sp-offensive movepool it has.

It wants HP Electric, Dark or Ice.

HP Electric hits Gyarados, HP Dark hits Jelli, Latios, Celebi, Slowbro, Starmie etc whilst HP Ice hits Dragons. HP Fire doesnt do anything and neither does Ground and have largely redundant coverage with its other moves.

Plus its OU in Dream World, so when its released that'll probably be reflected in actual Ou.

What we were thinking to make this "fairer" to all of us, so like we're more inspired to battle and not quite so negative after being easily swept by volturning is to somehow ban volturning on our server.

BUT, catch is, it'd only apply when laddering. So in other words, people should ladder rather than normally battle (so for clans & stuff normal battles) but to actually use teams, ladder on this server, and without volturning, and with primarily weather, it'd sorta even everything up. Plus people would be inspired to battle/continue to battle to stay there, since again, many of us get annoyed @ Smogon, so it'd be a great way to kinda keep a CBC community going if this was advertised as something people should do.

Should just follow Thundurus imo. Tornadus, however is beaten by Jolteon, Rotom-W, etc, so I don't really think it's a concern. It's a strong Pokemon but certainly not ban-worthy.

It can also live a +1 DD Outrage from Dragonite and do 73.1% - 86.7% back with Ice Beam which is a KO with SR up.

That's actually untrue! You and your opponent still have to choose a Pokemon to send out first, and Pokemon like Rotom-W and the weather starters are considered common Pokemon to lead with, as they can put a bit of pressure on the opponent.

Anyways, to answer dragon456, Machamp is the better lead since your opponent will have to find something to switch into Dynamicpunch, and even if they have something decent to take it, you'll still generally cause a lot of havoc with your other attacks/confusion hax. :)

Hey, I'm wondering: what are some good partners for Calm Mind Latias?

Spikes Skarmory is an excellent partner for CM Latias, provided that you give Latias Roar. Reason being is that Latias handles most Special threats while handling the physical ones is up to Skarm. That's just one great quality of the combo though, Skarmory's Spikes allow Latias to bypass many Pokemon that can trap it. If you suspect a Scizor or Tyranitar is about to come in, just Roar them out and watch the damage accumulate.

Anyways, I do agree that Landorus is annoying and I definitely hate fighting it, but it's not broken for the most part. Anyways, the best way to beat Landorus is to get SR up early in the match, as it will constantly switch, stuff like Quag, Tangrowth and Hippowdon can smash the non choiced ones if they try to set up, not to mention strong priority from Scizor and Dragonite can finish it off after it's taken SR Damage.

Just saying, but centralization is never used as the main argument for a Pokemon's ban. Landorus is definitely the hardest volt turn mon to beat, since Celebi and Gastrodon smash all the others, but it will keep U-Turing, so just get Rocks up early and it will die.

Well I read multiple times that centralization lead to most of them, and it sounds pretty logical to me too.

Anti
February 1st, 2012, 2:46 PM
I think the best way to describe centralization is the symptom, not the disease. If something is very centralizing, it should be looked at suspiciously, but ultimately there will always be a lot of centralization because all Pokemon are inherently unequal and there are going to be ones that need way more preparation than others. It's a natural byproduct of any good metagame. It's also impossible to quantify which makes arguing it dangerously subjective. To me, a broken Pokemon is one that still dominates despite the centralization it causes--centralization that should in theory stop that Pokemon from dominating. This is usually when Pokemon fail the "eye test."

So yeah, that's my take!!!!

Vrai
February 2nd, 2012, 6:57 PM
Hi, I just wanted to point out that centralization is always present and therefore should never ever be the basis of an argument for a ban. When this centralizing mon is banned, what do you think will happen? The metagame will spread its wings and be perfectly balanced? Of course not. Something else will become popular and the metagame will become centralized around it, which - based on the precedent set by banning something because it centralizes the metagame - will be banned, leading to that snowball effect. It's not as simple as saying "oh the metagame is impacted largely because of it" because every good Pokemon does that to the metagame. I like Anti's wording: "It's a natural byproduct of any good metagame". You also must remember that Smogon works to ban the least amount of Pokemon as possible; just because something isn't enjoyable to deal with doesn't make it banworthy.

The Void
February 2nd, 2012, 7:41 PM
Going with what Vrai said. Centralization is completely fine because that's basically what OU is all about. I'm afraid what's bad is "over-centralization" when a Pokemon is too strong for most teams to handle and breaks the metagame. There's a discussion like this in Smogon and I believe banned ubers such as Blaziken and Garchomp are considered as "over-centralized." So what I'm basically saying is that centralization is completely fine as compared to "over-centralization," which is not, and is bad.

Hello there, here is a guide on how to build a successful team. A successful team isn't about power, it's about tactics as well.

Why isn't a team just about power?
Many people may ask this question. It's not just about power, it's about speed, defense and tactics. You may have a strong attack Pokêmon team, but is that enough? With your team, try and mix there abilities up a bit, such as 2 attack Pokêmon, 2 defense and 2 speed. This way, you have a more chance of 'showing' off your skill.

How can it help me?
There is all sorts of ways it can help you! Have you ever had a battle where you have 2 very strong Pokêmon, but the rest are very weak? Well, suppose if the 2 fainted, and you only had the attack team, the rest may not do well. So how can it help?
So imagine that situation again, but replace them with 2 defense and 2 speed, you may have a chance of beating them. Why? If you think about speed, you may have a higher speed, giving you an advantage to do a move such as Thunder Wave, Fire spin, Whirlpool and more, these moves inflict damage on each turn, giving you a higher chance of winning.
So what are the defense for? The defense Pokêmon can be good because the challenger may attack, normally on a attacking move, they could faint in one hit, but in a defense, it may take several turns, also, you never know, it may give you time to heal your 2 fainted Pokêmon if you have revives, potions etc.

So what Pokêmon are good for a successful team?
There are a range of Pokêmon you could use for a team, but here is an example of mixed abilities...
Metagross- Attack Pokêmon
Blissey- Health Pokêmon
Gardevoir- Special Attack Pokêmon
Linoone- Speed Pokêmon
Salamence- Attack Pokêmon
Venusaur- Special attack/defense Pokêmon

That is just an example of a mixed abilities team.

What moves can help me progress?
Thunder Wave
Fire Spin
Sleep Powder
Whirlpool
Poison Powder
These moves can help you, they may give you a advantage, so now, you are a lot closer on becoming the greatest trainer.

AND REMEMBER that legendary Pokêmon may be very strong, but with a tactic team, you won't need them! It just takes patience training them up to the standard that you want. Remember, patience is the key. And also, this may seem dumb, but feed poffins/pokêblocks to your Pokêmon, even though there is battling, you have to bond with them as well, so try and make your Pokêmon more happy!

Next tutorials-
Achieving ribbons
Gym battles
Catching Pokêmon
Training Pokêmon

Please leave more suggestions and improvements for me so I can take them into account, and if there were any other tutorials that you would like.

That's actually a pretty good guide to battling, but I have something to say about the moves you need to progress:
-Moves like Wrap, Whirlpool and Fire Spin are rather situational because you might end up trapping a Pokemon that can counter you, forcing you to switch. (unless you're Shuckle, when you really need to damage your opponent passively, due to terrible offenses)
-Toxic >>>> Poisonpowder. Because Toxic poison increases each turn.
(I do agree with Sleep Powder and Thunder Wave on the moves to help you in battle)

Either way, Dragon and I battled (using ubers, which he happened to have Shedinja in, and due to it being ubers, there was no Tornadus etc @ offensive rain) aaanddd I was wondering what you guys thought on Shedinja's use in general, lol.

I think it would be. I think Shedinja is a hard Pokemon to use, because you could die at any moment. I think I'd be happy if my Shedinja won and didn't get automatically killed by like, Flamethrower or something ^^

Using Shedinja is fair game in my opinion. It's similar to using low accuracy moves, it's a high risk high return option. Shedinja can be slaughtered by heaps of stuff, so winning because of it IS something to be proud about.

Okay you two, consider this! What about when the opponent doesn't have those attacks at all, do you two continue to have that stance? I mean, you don't necessarily prepare for Shedinja so it's like a sitting duck situation yusss? With SR on basically every team except a few teams I don't really see how Shedinja can feel safe like, ever. ;x

though often the risk is much higher than the reward l0l

I like using him in ubers when I have a forretress on my team! I once won a 4th gen tourney because of it so it holds a special place in my heart

Yes I do, it's your problem for not having any counters for it, and the point of having Shedinja in a team is to eliminate its counters first, get rid of Sandstorm, SR, etc and then win. It's a risk they take and if they can pull it off, good on them.

Well, if they DON'T have the moves, then I guess it's a little unfair.
Because then, you just sit there while Shedinja slowly faints your team.
But if losts of people have SR, then it's pointless to have Shedinja, really.
Why have a Pokemon on your team if you know it's going to faint as soon as it gets in there?

Well, if they DON'T have the moves, then I guess it's a little unfair.

it's not unfair
when creating a team you have to consider everythi- well, most things
and shedinja is not that rare in ubers
if you have nothing to counter it it's your fault

and even disregarding shedinja, if you don't have at least a single rock or fire move, nor any kind of entry hazard or way to reflect your opponent's, then you're doing something terribly wrong

man even the worst of players and their toxicstall dialgas have a way to beat poor sheddy

Shedinja is one of those Pokemon that needs tons of support to work. If you want to use it, go ahead, but be sure to partner it with Rapid Spinners and Pokemon that can eliminate its weaknesses.

But still, Shedinja can wall a fair few Pokemon, like Kyogre in Ubers.

why would you ever use shedinja without a spinner is waaaay beyond my comprehensive potential

Espeon's ability allows it to repel SR/Spikes to the opponent's side of the field. It's a pseudo spinner, essentially.

I know about it, but it's too situational imo to forego a spinner if you're decided on using shedinja

like I said before it is a huge gamble so you need to lower your risks as much as you can
in fact if espeon wasnt so weak in ubers I'd totally use it alongside a spinner on my shedinja team

the idea of focus sash is so that shedinja can take a hit, not switch in once and proceed to die

regardless it's a bad pokemon

WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE SHEDINJA??!!! It's NU and I beat several uber teams with it! Come on!!!

And again, let me remind you and Nica:

Besides, who says I don't have a spinner? lol, I had Forretress, remember? I just didn't get to use Rapid Spin XD

point? shedinja still loses to any decent team. it's not that i hate it, it's that it sucks hard. the sooner you realize that, the better your future battling career will be.

(12:32:11) +Forever: JYNX IT
(12:32:14) +Forever: OR I WILL HATE YOU

XEL I'm never talking to you again. :(

Also nah Ho-Oh's too good for OU, it should be like a tier higher than uber really, reserved just for Ho-Oh.

Oh, and on the uber point dragon, a lot of ubers players aren't that good, so they probably won't know any better - aka new people grab legendaries, think they're the best, some happen to be in ubers, and boom ubers players w/ bad movesets that lose to Shedinja.

There are good Ubers players and then there are server randoms who use Dragonbreath/Dragon Claw/Tail Whip/Dragon Rage Dialga, I'm guessing Dragon faced the latter. But yes, Shedinja is viable in Ubers due to the lack of attacks that hit it super effectively, it's awful in every other tier.

But aren't Ghost, Fire, Rock and Dark somewhat widespread attack types in Ubers? (because of Giratina, any Psychics who carry Shadow Ball, Dragons who carry Fire Blast, Reshiram, Blaziken and Ho-oh, random Pokemon who carry Stone Edge/Rock Slide and Darkrai)

It still sucks in ubers lol.

Not to mention Deoxys-S leads @ hazards spam.

Even with a spinner i wish you the best of luck trying to spin vs Arceus-Ghost, Giratina-A, Giratina-O etc lol... (you're going to need all the luck in the world to get past those spin wise)

Seems most people use Tentacruel, who also absorbs annoying Toxic Suck Spikes which sinks most of the tier hnng, plus Rain Dish is cool with Kyogre support lol.

I was actually gonna try Hitmontop though for "guaranteed" spin. That or Toise who also gets Foresight and Rain Dish. XD

well maybe against deo and darkrai (does it even ko deo?) but yeah, its still really weak when you compare its damage to stuff like 120/120/120 defenses from arceus etc

I just used Iron Head + Scarf Zone, without realizing that zone was special and not physical, but get this!! It was sorta effective against one Pokemon. My unintentional fail proved successful, I am amazing.

...I also didn't realise what was wrong until Drakow pointed it out lol ;x Oh yeah, and even better, before I edited it, it had Thundershock and Hidden Power Dark, yeah I'm on some sort of roll today!

I believe this is where this goes.
A new league for Pokemon Black and white

Heres the main Idea

For each season, you'll be able to pick a 12 Pokemon stable that you can chose from for each battle.
Each stable Can have 3 uber tier pokemon 6 OverUsed or Borderline and 3 UnderUsed Pokemon
For any descrepency in tiers we'll use Smogon

Each battle each person will use 4 pokemon 1 Uber 2 OU/BL 1 UU (Pokemon can be down a tier but not up Ex. You can give up your Uber for another OU or BL.)

Best 2 of 3 between members.

There will be a tiered RPI system put into place to keep track and the top 10% at the end of the season will recieve prizes!

If you want to join start thinking of what you want your stable to be and start training up those pokemon. Also if you use hacked pokemon you will be banned.

If there are any more question post and I'll be more than happy to answer.

The plan is to start official battles in roughly a month, to give people a time to get their stable ready.

If you are interested please respond so i can get a quick head count here along with a couple other threads and see if we have enough people to start

Its actually not broken and has ALOT of checks. See: Dragons, Grass junk, Psychics etc.

Genesect is far worse tbh. Even Heatran cant beat it when it holds a Douse Drive and uses Techno Blast lol..

IMO, Air Balloon is pretty useless nowadays for Heatran... every single Heatran I see has that freaking item and it's not like we're stupid enough to use Earthquake as a head start attack when we see Air Balloon Heatran lol... it's better to improvise Heatran with other items like Choice Scarf/Choice Specs, Quick Claw, etc.

Dark Azelf
February 15th, 2012, 8:10 PM
Yeah, Air Balloon Tran sucks imo. Its not Exacrill, it wont open up sweeps by letting it beat bulky grounds since none of them switch into tran anyway and the ones that do are Gastrodon and Quagsire qhich beat you with Scald regardless unless you have like HP [Gr]Ass.

Best sets for tran by far are Choice Specs (in sun OMG nuke kills everything) or sp.def support with Protect annoying garbage lol.
