Image transfer error
This is the most common oekaki problem. To fix the situation follow these steps below (quoted from the official oekaki forum).

The OekakiBBS applet is a hacked version made for use with OP. However, there seems to be a problem with people submitting images if they have the sun java 2 plugin.

Using the microsoft VM is recommended, and you can easily tell your browser to not use java 2:

Tools> internet options > advanced > Java (Sun) > uncheck use java 2 for <applet> or simliar line

now go to microsoft VM, and click JIT compiler enable and hit ok ^^

I have a problem. I was using OekakiBBS Animated.
I wanted to re-touch one of my pictures, I clicked on so I play the animation.

This is what SHOULD have showed up:

Same thing happened with another picture I was drawing, same program, except I never submitted it. I replayed it and killed my picture. Good thing I took a screenshot before I did that. I think it has something to do with the eraser and smudge tool for some odd reason. Like the transparent space bugged it up.

EDIT: I think I figured it out...its that little button with the eye with a capital "A" in the middle, turned off animation for the layer. I must have clicked that by accident not knowing what it was...

I'm not a bot.I'm a human being.I'm wondering.On PaintBBS there is a "send"button,right?On OekakiBBS,there is not.On OekakiBBS,how do you get it from the canvas,to the page where people comment on it. Happened to me and you can't fix it ^^;;; Sorry..

Dragonfire, i'm a bit confused what you mean. You said you wanted to re-touch so you clicked on play? Or you clicked re-touch then clicked play to see how it would look?
If it's the latter, it may just be that it didn't load completely -it's always best to leave the previewing until after you've posted and saved the picture.

Billybob, what exactly does the error message say when you click "save". If it says "image transfer error" then one of the admins of the oekaki may still be able to rescue it (as long as you know what picture number it would have had), and there is a thread to do with this on the official oekaki poteto forum board. It's basically to do with cookies etc.

Lex, there is automatic approval on the oekaki

Dragonball, an oekaki is a place where you can draw and submit pictures online which are then commented on by others.

Earlier I had a problem with an error in my Activation code. now I've been accepted, but for some reason when I log on I'm still logged in as guest! Why do these things keep happening to me? :(

1.Save and upload my finished picture.

2.I want to change something so I Click on the [ Re-Touch ] near my post.

3.It says to Play the animation first to get your retouch image when you are doing retouch.
So I click on play.

4.I wait until the entire animation is fully loaded. I am certain it has since the little grey square has moved to the right side of the bar, right at the edge. Plus it says END.

5.My image is not what is is supposed to look like.

My guess is the program won't record it because it might not have enough storage/frames/memory etc...

The little eye with the A in the middle buttons...I never shut those off or even touched them so I doubt the problem is with them.

The amount of time/edits you do on a single picture are limited, however you normally have to spend upwards of 450mins on one picture in order to reach the limit, and the finished picture should not show if that was the case.
Normally when i re-touch on oekakibbs i don't have to play and it already shows the layers, so im not sure why it wont show them before ending the play strip. It seems to be to do with the animation not finishing within your re-touch page though..hmm..
Sorry there's not a lot i can suggest since it doesn't seem to be a problem with the oekaki itself limiting the animation size, unless an extra limit has been requested during the oekaki set-up
It may be worth asking in the official oekaki area (suteki.nu)

Hmm sorry to hear that pogi. You could just PM one of those who are admins on the oekaki and ask them to delete your account and then sign-up again.

After your account is approved, just hover over "Draw" and pick which program you want to use (OekakiBBS or PaintBBS). ^^;

The only way of doing that JA is if all the admins go into "Edit Notice" and then click save. That way their names will come under the notice at the top of the notice automatically *goes to do that now*

ok let me first say i like this oekaki bbs... its the first oekaki place ive posted more than once at (really my first oekaki place in general).
but ive been having some problems >< i just spent about an hour doing an oekaki (which is long for me cause i dont usually spend too much time on em) and instead of hitting the undo button, i hit the back button on the browser which, of course, lost my pic. &#%&*$@^*&#^!!! *feels good to get that off my chest (-o-)
but the point is... i *would* have saved more often IF i knew that the retouch button worked. i've tried to retouch two of my previous oekaki and it didnt work, leading me to believe that the whole oekaki must be done in one go without any mistakes or anything. is there anyway you can fix the button so that it allows you to retouch? or am i the only one having a problem with this (like maybe because i use IE or something related to browser specific details)?
anyway thanks for the neato oekaki bbs.... despite todays dismal loss of my oekaki, i think ill try again some other time.

It should always allow you to retouch. The only thing that does happen when you retouch (if you dont use animated) is that the layers combine. It may be to do with your cookies?
If you're worried about losing your pic, you could try using PaintBBS -this has the special feature that if you accidentally leave the page and go back to it, it asks you if you want to restore to the picture you were previously working on -very handy ^^ (coz ya, i've lost OekakiBBS piccies before too where i've clicked on aim/msn links that just opened the page on my OekakiBBS rather than creating a new page >.> it's really annoying >.<)

That's probably to do with cookies. You can clear out your cookies by going into Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup (assuming you have windows ^^)

Oh. I know why.
It shows all who where on in the duration of the last 15 minutes, and it will not go away until 15 minutes pass from the time you log out. It is supposed to do that as far as I know. So no need to fix that.

No. You never even used the Oekaki at all, how can it be considered an Oekaki then?
Besides, I don't think you can upload pictures into the Oekaki. But I'd guess it might be considered an Oekaki if you drew it with the Oekaki (the line art) then colored it with another program, like MS paint or photoshop.

Naw gilbert, there's no way to upload a pic that you've drawn onto the oekaki -that would be a gallery if that happened ^^;
Oekaki uses two online programs -OekakiBBS and PaintBBS which you must use in order for your picture to be considered oekaki and to be displayed ^^

Recently, some pictures on the BBS are under the minimum time limit.
I think you guys should reduce the min. drawing time to 10 minutes...

Er... Poeple are talking about bumping picture and how to do it on the board.
O_O I think that would become a really bad problem if there wasint a rule for it like they can only bump it if it was just finshed, and they can't do it if no one commented on there drawing .

Just a suggestion.
I'm not all for this bumping that is being spoken about O____O I'v had a few bad things happen with people bumping there pictures.

Should a rule be in place?
i guess I could call that my question.

I just signed up at the oekaki board here, and when ever i click "draw" It logs me off the internet. Is there a way to fix it, or is it just my browser? I use Firefox by the way. Please help!

Alot of people have been complaining in the Oekaki Board that the administrators haven't been giving archieves lately and alot of the good pictures are being swept off of the board. :( We all would really like it if the Oekaki Administrators would update frequently, so there is atleast one page filled with archieves. Please reply.

I've tried a gajillion times it feels like, but the oekaki will not let me log in! >.<
I have done the password recovery thing and blah, blah quite a few times, but no luck.

I was wondering if the picture thing (you know, the problem with a picture getting covered up with another) is going to be fixed soon? This has been going on for too long, and it's really annoying. I mean, you can click on the picture to see it, but that gets tedious and it doen't need to be that way. Can you guys fix it or are you guys being lazy?

if u rt click and veiw properties u get the correct filename (same as if u click it) yet the img shown isn't right.. so you tell me.. what can do that? I haven't a clue.

Ok went thru the oekaki and removed all the bad jpg's it generated.. (turned off jpg generation too) so it looks like it's working again.. let me know if you have any more trouble.

Yeah, I've heard from other oekakis that they've had a similar problem -it's the jpg compression feature screwing up so that older pictures aren't overwritten. Hopefully the oekaki creaters will rectify this problem soon with a new version ^^;

I went on Oekaki, and i was already logged on as Ice Dragon, but on Oekaki, i was logged on as a guest, so i put in my Name and password. And it said my pass word was invalid! And i tried again, and i was still wrong!
If i am saying this wrong, how do you start a picture? :(

Have you already signed up on the oekaki? It uses a different member base than the forums, so you'll have to sign up again in order to draw. ^_^;

Hmm...no, the art URL bit shouldn't affect that at all--you should be able to to log in and draw. Perhaps you got a database error when you tried. Those have been going around. Can you try again, and if you still get the error, can you copy and paste it here so I can see? ^_^;

o_o I'v seen alot of problems and I think we need more moderators and admins on it. Some control needs to be enitialized befor this is face in DM mode.
If you end up with fixing this and not fixing the main problem for a JPG format, more will pop up. If you can PPNsteve,Lighting,Clair,Mr.Cat Dog. Try to Change the format to PNG o.o It will save the prosses and if anyone has any more problems it will prove it's the fault of where the server is,which may or may not in the end cancle the oekaki idea being So close to PC.

This is just a thought prosses that may save sevral images but at the same time me and other oekaki mods in PHO,PTC,XN,DMB and Oemonk oekaki are still confronting this problem within are oekakis .

Mm, which problem is this? o.o I know that PC's database has been acting up a little as of recent, which would affect both the forums and the oekaki, I believe. (Or at least, I think they share a database, so if it dies for a bit, they're both incapacitated.) So any database-related errors originate from that...though I have no idea where those came from in the first place; that's something Steve handles.

As for changing the format (though isn't it already in PNG format? o_O), that would be something Steve handles as well. @_@

^^; sorry to bug anyone, but I was drawing a vaporeon and Mr,cat dog said that id the rest of the body is like the face that it is getting archived o.o I think the body was great and it came out better then my own expectations. I go to save it just to find out someone has it set at 500KB insted of other higher numbers . My vaporeon finished is 717Kb and it took me a long time, I really would like to know if it can be changed to 900KB like on Pikasurf oekaki and advanced oekakicentral ^^;?

You have to use the programs on the oekaki to draw pictures (you can't submit one you've drawn on your computer etc.). Register and read the FAQ :3

Eh? Well...on PaintBBS, you click 'SEND'. Be patient and wait as it's saving, compressing, etc. It'll be done when it says 'OK'. Same with OekakiBBS, only you click on 'SAVE'. There'll be a PNG sign under that. Still not showing up? Try going to Administration > Recover Pics. Maybe it just ddin't send correctly. ^^;

Go to Administration > Edit Comments.

Why, yes, there is. You can always contact an admin to bump the picture for you.

- OR -

Re-touch your picture first and wait for it to load. Afterwards, go to the Oekaki Program you used for that picture. (PaintBBS Paletted, OekakiBBS Normal, etc.) Then, set the Canvas Size to the same properties as your picture. (If your picture was at 400x400, set it to 400x400.) Click 'Modify'. Once the page loads, it'll ask if you want to restore the picture. (Or something like that.) Click 'Yes', and your picture will appear on the canvas. Send your picture as usual and viola. :D Hope that help.~

(Haha...oops. The thought just ocurred to me. If Mods/Admins of the Oekaki are only supposed to respond, do tell me and I'll stop. ^^;)

If you bump to many pictures it's not a great thing ^^; I've never had to bump it and you can even give a link in your next drawing to the finished work and tell them to continue commenting on your laitest, a doodle or what not would work for it =D

Erm... this really isn't a help question or anything... but, I was just wondering about archiving. Now, don't get me wrong, I am in no position to know what is "archive-worthy" considering I am not a mod for the Oekaki, but I was just wondering, I mean, when is anyone going to look out for archive-worthy pictures? It's been a long while since a picture's been archived, and I know everyone there strives to be in the archive section, so... I felt the need to ask about it. It would just be nice to see a picture get archived once in a while, like we did when the archives were first created.

Just a concern of mine. *shrug* I don't want to offend any of the mods there or anything, I was just curious.

I got a question too. Where are our mods! >< Don't get me wrong, I just want to know. Especially when we had some newbies spamming.Yeah, ALOT of Newbies Did two minute piccies, then, like, left forever ><;; ANd they dont even comment on their own pictures? o_O;;

Azu: I know FG has archived at least one, but it hadn't really crossed my mind x_x In all honesty I forgot about archiving, what kind of oekaki mod does that make me >.<

I'm sorry about that, but Ill get right on it =D

Also I have added rule 7 and 8, theyr common sense ones, but I have seen it happening a few times, so just a reminder XP

Ah! Thanks Ookami! I just think that archiving gives all us artists something to strive for, and helps build positive morale with those who want to be good and finally recieve that special archive. ^^ I know I was absolutely thrilled when I got my first archive, and I want others to feel the same way. ^-^

Why can't you make the picture limit bigger than 450x450, and then just tell everyone to adult the picture if it's over a certain amount of pixels? o_O;
I see no problem in that.

I'm sure someone else has this problem too, but everytime I try to retouch, the canvas is blank. Can someone help me?

Also, every time I try to view animation, the screen just refreshes itself and it says that pop-up windows were blocked. I think this may be a problem with my computer though and not the site. View Animation used to work b4, so I think its a problem with my computer. >_< The blank thing... I had to restart my computer to get rid of that... sometimes twice ^-^
The pop up thing.... Try turning of the pop up blocker thing (I dunno XD; )

There is a send button at the bottom of the applet.

Because in reality, they should really be that big anyways, and the adult button wasn't made for that purpouse. If it streaches the screen then it is too big and would most probably slow a few computers down.

It works fine for me. Do you have any program that could be blocking it? Like fire wall or pop up controll? If so then you would need to turn them off for the time that you are using Oekaki.

Um, on Mozilla, OekakiBBS, 've drawn my first pic, I press save, Image Transfer error, how do I stop that, I don't wanna start again, seeing as I like OekakiBBS, I just want my pic to show up, please help!

That would likely be a problem with Java on your end. x_x; You can check here (http://www.suteki.nu/community/viewthread.php?tid=286) (external link) for a few possible ways to fix it, but as of now I don't know if it's salvagable. I know in the past there have been problems with OekakiBBS (especially with Mozilla/Firefox), so your best bet most likely would be to switch to PaintBBS. o.o

IE works for some people, I know, but doesn't work for others. You could certainly give it a try.

hi in the help section too draw it said if you do not have a draw flag contact an administrator for details on how to accquire one and that's what i think i'm doing. so can you please help me?

If you don't have a draw flag, it's probably because either:

You haven't registered
or
You have registered, but not clicked the link in your e-mail.

I can't find your username in the list (assuming you are using the same name on PC), so that seems to indicate that you haven't registered. Use the register option in the oekaki toolbar and fill in the form - this'll send an e-mail to you, which will then provide a link for you to click.

If you have any further problems, PM me and I can try and approve you manually.

I seem to lag really much when i start to draw. For example, i click on a tool to use like the basic pen or line tool then start drawing but i have to wait 10+ seconds before it shows where i have drawn which makes it impossible to do.

@ S[u]perS[o]nic: Sometimes the Oekaki will lag on me too if I have other windows open, or I'm on my laptop, which is a reeeallly slow and old computer. I'd make sure that you have quit all other programs and have as few windows as possible up in your browser. Also, having a page with a Flash advertisement playing on it sometimes slows me down. Sometimes it even slows my mouse down. o.o Flash advertisments = the devil.

This is gonna sound stupid: But how does one become an Oekaki Mod?
I just think it'd make more sense for an active oekaki member to be a Mod, to take some of the heat off of the less active ones. I know they try their best, but it'd be nice to have someone who could be on at least 3-5 times a week ^^

I think Steve disabled it by changing something in the code so it would error whenever accessed. If that's the case, he did it because it was consuming too much of the server's resources and, as you probably know, the server's been pretty shaky as of late. So the oekaki is down for an indefinite amount of time. x_o; I'll post an announcement when it's back up to let you know, though.

We hope it will be soon. First we want to concentrate on the forums to get them working perfectly (some of the skins are still a bit broken and there are other glitches from the move we still have to work out). After that, we'll move onto reinstating the oekaki. ^^;
