Which is better, a fire stone or a rare candy?

depends on the situation, if you have a ponyta at level 39 and you want it to evolve quicker, rare candy, if you have a vulpix at level 29 and want it to evolve then fire stone.

I've always liked rare candies. I'd save them all up until the end and then give some to each member of my team.

I don't think you can really compare them. Rare candies have more practicality in general, but if you're raising your pokemon for competitive battling, they can screw up your pokemon's EVs. Fire stones aren't as practical to carry arouns, really, only Growlithe, Vulpix, and eevee even use them. So if none of those three are on your team, don't bother with it.

It's kinda strange how you picked those to compare but...
I would say (for those 2) a Fire Stone (for me) would be better....I think. I don't really use Rare Candies, because it's just easier to train to the next level. The only ones I would use a Rare Candy on are ones that evolve from friendship. But other than that, I don't use them.

I would say rare candy because of the missingno Glitch.

Is this a serious question?
If it is, Rare Candy, hands down. You can use it on every Pokemon unlike the Fire Stone which can be used only on very few. If you don't want to screw up the EV's on your Growlithe, Vulpix, or Eevee, then use the Fire Stone.

I think it would depend on what game it is. If it´s Ruby or Sapphire I think they´re equal but if it´s in Blue or Red Rare Candy is better.
