IC: Long, long ago, in the land of Hoenn, there was a tyrannical king called Quinallt. King Quinallt had heard of a pyramid city in the desert (between Fallarbor Town and Mauville City) and he wanted to conquor it. So he sent off thousands of soldiers to go and over-ride the pyramid city. But the soldiers never returned. For a powerful Pokemon, unknown to all, protected the city and all those who tried to conquor it would be brought to live in the pyramid city, their memories wiped. After King Quinallt's failed attempt, the city was left in peace. But there was not peace within the city for a man, one of the generals of King Quinallt's army, had residual memories of the lands beyond the desert. As he was also a very powerful man, he made himself King of the pyramid city. The knowledge of the lands beyond were passed down to the very cruelest of his decendents and no-one else as the family wished to have all the other inhabitants of the city under their power and they knew that the lands beyond were much better than the desert which surrounded the pyramid city further than the eye could see. But others grew curious of the desert around them and many set off on expeditions across the deserts. None returned for those who made it beyond the desert found it a lot nicer and decided to stay and those who went back to tell and bring others were killed by the current King's henchmen. After that, the other people were told that a few had returned and died, saying that there was no land beyond the desert and their companions had died of thirst and such. And so life went on fairly peacefully until more were born who wished to know what wa beyond the desert. But they were threatened and killed and everyone wa afraid. But many still wished to know and they planned to leave in secret. Which brings us to today...

'Adaia! Adaia, wake up!' Adaia's mother shook her 13 year old daughter until she got up, groaning and rubbing her sleep-filled, golden, redflecked eyes. Adaia yawned and hopped out of bed, pulling on her day clothes, a red-embroidered, long-sleeved, billowing white shirt and long, billowing red pants. She tied her long, straight black hair into a ponytail and tied her red scarf as a bandanna around her head. Finally, she pulled on her leather boots and went out to the main room to have breakfast. It was cereal, dried corn and miltank milk. There was less and less miltank milk as they bred slowly and they had short lifespans. She ate quickly before going out of her familie's rooms, walking down the long corridors towards the city centre. She didn't know any people here as she and her family had been relocated from the western pyramid to the southern one only the day before yesterday. She hoped to find a friend, anyone to talk with. She made it to the city centre and went to the school. She was too old to go to school but she knew that many other kids her age would be there, hanging around with their friends and Pokemon. She sighed. She would dearly love to have a Pokemon, to call her own. She wanted mostly a Sandshrew, a little girl one who she would call Sandara and train to be the best Pokemon in all the pyramids. But it wouldn't happen. She knew that her parents would never let her go out and catch a Pokemon. She was their only living child - Adaia's older brother, Sandar, had died in a sandstorm - and they treasured and loved her so much. The only other way to get a Pokemon was to buy it but she didn't have enough money to buy one and she knew that her parents would say that they didn't have enough, either. She didn't know whether that was true or not. Adaia reached the school and sat on the stone gate, watching the other kids and their Pokemon. Not many were dressed like her. She had made her clothes herself, with a little help from her mother, and so they were unique, perhaps even a little strange.

OOC:I woke up. One normal day in the dark, moist pyramid city. If you could call living in an alleyway normal. Well, to me, it was. I lived in a little wooden hut that would fall down any minute, and my only friend was a Flygon. My parents had long died in a sandstorm.
