I have to compliment you on everything in this resource package, I will almost certainly use most of the sprites provided in this pack for my fangame.
If you have any B/W autotiles and tilesets that would be great.
Overall I thing that everyone who downloads and uses these resources will be thoroughly pleased.

1. Not really easy to add at the moment, there are really few BW Tiles ripped so far.

2. I'll add that in the future.

3. Oops, my bad.I've just updated the pack to include her Overworld. Download link has been updated.

4 hours later... I have added all the alternate form sprites. This include all of the Unknown and their back sprites. I also have added the ??? Arceus and it's back sprites.

Using animated sprites will require scripting knowledge. There are several functions and scripts which will be edited for them to work properly unless all converted to RMXP size. In which case there will be slightly less work involved.

I just found out (and it sounds strange, but it happened anyway) that there are no Gen 5 items in Essentials. They're not in this pack either, so you might want to hold off on that "ultimate" until they're in. ;)

If I decide to add animated sprites, I'll use the .gif files I've used a couple months ago. They're all resized for use with Pokémon Essentials and I've used them succesfully without editing any script.

@ Maruno
If I could script at a decent level, I'd try to add those in. The community will have to wait a while, I think.

This is so awesome. Definitely using it. I'll credit everyone ^^

EDIT:Lots of transparency needs to be edited, need to stop the bobbing up/down of Pokemanz. I can fix most the issues myself, but the editor doesn't allow for importing gifs, so any quick way to fix transparency?

EDIT 2: Also Venom 12, sorry to say that resising isn't all that simple. When the Pokemon faints, it shrinks back to normal, when you view the Pokemon summary, it is also normal.

So really, the battling would be fine, if transparency is sorted out, and the Player Pokemon Bobbing is sorted out.

Yeah, the sizing also gets whacked up when the pokemon dies or is attacked. Only the first frame has no transparency issues.

Shasjas
February 14th, 2012, 06:24 AM
I thought id say that ive been fiddling about trying to erase the white for each frame, and there is 40-60 frames to edit for each pokemon. thats a lot of work. also you are missing .gif's for some pokemon, like zubat and magnemite.
EDIT: i was making a list of the missing pokemon, but there a lot of them. just making sure you are aware of this :)
EDIT2: these guys have ripped all the animations (http://clowcardruler.deviantart.com/art/Pokemon-BW-Animations-256963616), so no pokemon should be missing from them. but they still suffer from black/white squares around them, and being too small.

nniwllehctim
February 14th, 2012, 05:38 PM
Yeah, transparency is a major issue.

EDIT: Took a look in Photoshop, the animations are all transparent. RMXP some how manages to screw it up.

Crisscrosscory
February 14th, 2012, 06:04 PM
I know its most likely a lot of work to do but when the updated Pokemon sprites come out could also try to have them already re sized that way we could use the Reposition Sprites in the Editor that came with the Pokemon Essentials starter kit and with the already re sized pokemon sprites it wouldn't require as much searching and recording that would have to be done for the pokemon party screen and PokeDex. I appreciate all the work you have done to form this Ultimate BW Pack, so Thank you so much. :D

Shasjas

Yeah, transparency is a major issue.

EDIT: Took a look in Photoshop, the animations are all transparent. RMXP some how manages to screw it up.

not the case when i look at them in photoshop. are you looking at each frame or just opening the gif in photoshop how you would normally open an image?

if i open the gif so i see each frame then there is no transparent background. if i open it like a normal image then i just see the first frame, but it is transparent.

EDIT: however, using gimp to open the gifs results in all frames having transparent backgrounds. so you are correct

EDIT: i put together the gifs again as some pokemon are missing from the OPs pack. i hope this will fix the missing pokemon. it should fix any missing pokemon, including shinys and females. it doesnt include alternate forms

http://www.mediafire.com/?pxzfk6lvkmjokqc

it wont fix the problems with non transparent backgrounds though as that seems to be a problem with RMXP

This pack is great, there is a problem with the latest animated sprites though, the shiny bak files for 023 to 063 are incorrectly named. 023 is named 024, 024 is named 025 etc.
Also 019 seems to have a white background

The attacks will deal damage, but special effects, like a 30% chance to poison the defending Pokemon, will not work. I hope I've clarified that now.

This is fantastic so far, however I do have one request. I ask that you make all sprite sizes the same (for the animated sprites) within a 120x120 box for example. And all positioned alike. Because if each image is a different size, they will not be positioned on the battle scene correctly. I know this because I've attempted it. If you did that through batch or other methods, it would really be a benefit.

I think I'm still using 4.0 due to massive edits to the engine. I could upgrade, but I foresee a lot of conflicts between the engine and the way it looks on my game now, and the latest Essentials. Any idea what you did to fix this? It might be worth me emulating it. Otherwise, I think it may be worth upgrading. Or attempting to.

I think it was just the def adjustBattleSpriteYEx in PokemonSprite. I'm not sure whether the sprite coordinates dotted around PokeBattle_ActualScene were also changed, but I half-think they weren't.

Never mind, I figured it out. It turns out I had the wrong gifs in the folder. silly me:)

this pack is all GIF images... how can i use it for game?
when i replace the battlers folder with these GIF, game is not working anymore...
please tell me how to use it... thanks so much...

p/s: my english is not good... so sr
I'm not sure what you did but this is what I did.

I went to my game folder, went to graphics and deleted the battlers folder.
I then went to the Ultimate BW Pack and copied the battlers folder.
I then went back to my game folder, went to graphics and pasted the new battlers folder.
Mine seem to be working just fine, they are animated and I have no problems with transparency.

Make sure you downloaded the latest update for Ultimate BW Pack.
If you keep having problems, you may have to restart your game.

I hope this helps you.

The pack is nearing completion. I finally got the sprites positioned correctly. Here's a preview of whatr you can expect:

http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/185/7/2/animated_sprites_essentials_v2_by_p_sign-d55x3zv.gif

@Mackoo
I don't know how to do that yet. I think it has to do with the sprites not updating when performing an action like using a move or switching out. Maybe I'll look at that.

@Seth Pegasus and heisadog
You don't have to import them via RPG Maker, just copying them in the game's folder is enough ;)

That looks pretty swag. ^^

I'll be honest, because of the mis-numbering issue which was mentioned above and that this hadn't been updated for the new form names/gender differences, etc I was considering finding replacements, but if you're still working on this, I'll hold out. c:

It looks nice, but the huge back sprites certainly don't lend themselves to double battles. There's also the (rather important, actually) issues with other places the sprites are shown, in most of which they'll be too big (I'm thinking of the Pokédex and storage).

Thanks for the feedback, the numbering issue is probably fixed right now and the formes are added today (see the video below). Gender differences haven't been added and I'm not sure if I will add them in the future since I'm unable to batch process the file names.

True. It isn't a very big deal with most of the sprites, but sprites like Charizard, Zapdos and more big Pokémon like these tend to go outside the boxes on the Pokedex screen or even go off-screen. I am thinking about how to fix this though. The only idea I have at the moment is using static sprites for the menus and animated for the battle scenes. Got to figure out how I should edit the scripts in Essentials first.

Well, I have worked on the kit today and I am pleased to say that all formes but the B2W2 ones have been added. The B2W2 ones show some errors, I guess that's due to the .gif files being corrupted, so I have to look that up tomorrow. Aside from that, it's an enormous step to the final release of this kit, Ultimate BW Pack 7.

Here's a video that shows the new forms:
TlFBJPQMI6c

Also, should I add B2W2 content? I'd like to hear your opinions on this.

First of all, really thanks for the Ultimate BW pack. I think that making the boxes slighty bigger could help (but I do not know if this possible without making new graphics) and yes, I would love B2W2 contents
Sorry for my english

Love the remix song, sprites look great too. I'm fine with not adding gender differences visually, but would we not at least need to include duplicate files with the names corrected? As it stands, if I encounter a female pokemon that would normally be gender differenced, it looks for (arbitrary number) 27f.gif rather than 27.gif, and that causes it to revert to the static sprite.

Being that this pack doesn't modify the scripts at all, I can see no reason that owuld happen. It's worked just fine for me. o.o

P-Sign, I'm afraid the backsprite shiny numbering issue is still a, well, issue.
For instance, I have a Shiny Venonat, but it displays as a Shiny Parasect because Parasect's Shiny backsprite was mislabebled under Venonat's number, and Venonat under Venomoth's, and so on.

This might be related to a bug with pokemon essentials. It was posted in the report bugs and errors section, and got fixed. If you upgraded to version 8 before the bug was fixed thats probably your problem. changing the sprites could not effect something like exp.

*Checks* Ah, I see. Looks like the backsprite of a Shiny Abra sneaked into my Batch processor. Will fix it tonight after dinner, so I guess it's up in three hours.

EDIT:

I noticed in some of the other posts it was mentioned that some of the back sprites weren’t positioned proply in battle because of the size of the gif or something. for example tepig, you can only see his ears.

I’ve tried repositioning them in the editor itself but after a couple i get this error and then loss the positions that ive changed

i was wondering if there was an easier way to do this.

Hey Guys!

I was wondering if someone had this very same pack but with the STATIC versions of the sprites. I know it looks nice and all, but honestly to have a folder that's more than 200mb on just the pokemon is something i don't find attractive at all. I don't want to end up with a game that's over 1gb.

I downloaded the pack when it featured the resized static sprites, but lost it with my old PC :( Does anyone have it? P-Sign? anyone? The sprites are very pretty, but i don't need that extra weight the animation gives.

Thanks for this awesome contribution, btw, P-Sign!

Thanks for uploading the static sprites version, but there's some problems with these new sprites. Half of them aren't aligned right and have to be manually realigned and a couple big pokemon like Lugia and Moltres as so big that they cover the other pokemon. This wouldn't be so bad if the enemy pokemon didn't appears on top of the one you're controlling.

Lugia is one of the most noticeable but a few others I noticed do it too. Gyarados and Moltres do it too off the top of my head. Also some of the sprites seem to be sort of tearing. If you look, it's on Cresselia's backsprite and the front and back of her shiny forms, The front of Leafy Wormadam, all of Mothim's sprites, both the front and back of normal and shiny Uxie, the backsprites of Illumise and Elgyem, and possibly more that I haven't found. Also, all of Burmy and Wormadam's shiny sprites aren't there at all. Also I've noticed that none of the gender differences are there.

Edit:I decided I'd go through the entire image file and point out what I see.
I noticed that the shiny backsprite for Steelix is a smaller image than the regular one. I didn't look at this ingame so I'm not sure what it looks like.
This also happens with every sprite for Teddiursa and Ursaring.
Also, Shiny Diglett's front and back sprites are different from the normal. And Shiny Dugtrio is tearing on both.
Normal and shiny Manaphy and Phione's back and front sprites are all tearing, too.
Tirtouga's front sprites normal and shiny tear.
All of Plusle's sprites tear, and quite disturbingly if you ask me. His ear is floating off his body.

Oh! I just tested out Lugia ingame and apparently it fixes itself. Lugia appears ontop of the enemy, which is kind of cool I guess.

I noticed some missing icons and cries. For example, Frillish/Jellicent/Unfezant need icons for each gender (this is now possible in Essentials), and there's the genies/Kyurem/Keldeo's alternate forms. The three genies also have different cries in their alternate forms.

It doesn't and maybe never will.

Honestly it doesn't even need BW2 overworlds.

There are very few new overworlds in BW2, the most would be the World Tournament overworlds but most people can rip themselves.

I seem to be having an issue, The sprites look amazing but are terribly positioned, Here's an example https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-yNgcLD1EoGQ/UxUosZMuIyI/AAAAAAAAAi8/yy2E2ejWYOM/w549-h467-no/Problem.PNG
And when I reposition them, they reappear after battle, likewisehttps://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-GVzlo7K-ln0/Uwo_X2fGjyI/AAAAAAAAAiI/q_7JHUkBEnA/w500-h347-no/CFlaw.PNG

I'm not sure what Ive done wrong as I've used the Pokemon.txt provided within the pack if anyone could give me a hand it'd be greatly appreciated!

snip

re-add the pokemon.txt provided, then open the Editor, and recompile the data. This fixed it for me.

To fix Reappearing of pokemon enemy
in PokeBattle_ActualScene line no 2661 there you will see

pkmnsprite=@sprites["pokemon#{pkmn.index}"]

In next line add

pkmnsprite.visible=false

Can you please put up another link for the statics? It's impossible to reposition the sprites in the Editior otherwise.

Hello. I really like the package and would like to use it! I apologize if this something easily fixed. I am tired at the moment and am new at the whole essentials package. Thank you in advance for looking at this. I installed the necessary files in the correct manner and made a simple scene to check to see if it worked. I grabbed charmander and tried to go into the party list to see if it worked. Unfortunately this message appeared:

You need the Pokemon Pack v1, because you're missing the pokemon icon files

http://www.mediafire.com/download/ar3n1v7w3u9hwdb/Pok%C3%A9mon%20Pack%20v1.rar

Go into the Graphics folder, copy the Icons folder that lies inside, and paste them inside your game's Graphics folder.

Awesome, thank you very much! That worked perfectly. I didn't expect a reply so soon, and I also feel kind of silly.

There should be a download for static pokemon sprites too because there is a tiny bit of lag when animated sprites have to be loaded(like the Pokemon stat menu, which also affects the Pokemon party, or in battle).

Otherwise awesome pack

I know this is kind of late, but has anyone found a way to fix the positioning? I know it's possible games like Pokémon Reborn successfully pulled this off.

I have an issue,
When an opponent's Pokemon with an animated sprite faints it disappears but then reappears with just the top of it's head poking up over the top of the player's Pokemon's HP window until the trainer sends out their next Pokemon. This looks really horrible, how can I fix it?

I had the same issue and tried this. It worked but now the sprites don't fall down when fainted, they just vanish. How do I fix that?
