View Full Version : Too little screentime?

I was wondering after recently re-watching the old series and then catching up with the current anime series, if you noticed that some of Ash's Unova Pokemon, get little to no screen time due to his increased catch rate.

Oshawott seems to get most screentime while some of his other Pokemon like Snivy and Tepig which was possibly released by a trainer(s); (which would make a interesting story for a episode) are reduced to less screentime.

Tranquill, his current flying type seems to get less screentime than his other flying types from the past series or as it seems to me, same thing with Swadloon which is hardly seen anymore and Rogenrolla which only recently got some screentime.

Maybe it was these reasons that in the past series (Kanto - Sinnoh) they kept his catch rate down more so not to distort the balance of screentime which each of his Pokemon get.

Also Cilan and Iris have 3 Pokemon each while Ash has 9, which seems a little more unbalanced that other series.

I don't know if its just me imagining all this or if its a reality but I hope that some of his new Pokemon receive some episodes about them soon

Ash's last capture was BW034, and BW063 aired a few days ago so I wouldn't worry about his capture rate having anything to do with it. If you take a look at the new opening, we've got four new evolutions if you count a recent one, including a capture (but that left more than 30 episodes for the rest of the team to develop) but yeah - I'm not going to spoil you with names, but we can assume these Pokémon will get development and screentime around the time they evolve and after...

Oh sounds good :0. Sounds further apart than I thought it was.
Now there are 3 new changes to his team; two being evolutions and 1 being a capture :3

At least with Tranquill case they don't really employ the need of a aerial searcher since Team Rocket doesn't appear on a regular basis anymore. And other then the three starters(which I'd say is definitely there for promotional purposes), and Scraggy the rest of them are shifted every now in then. The development has kind of been sporadic at times, with the reserves evolving with little to no character development or battles under their belt. Then there is some like Swadloon that gets a good deal of screen time for a short period then they focus on other people like Iris with Excadrill and Emolga and different things that go on that detract from the other pokemon appearing. I'd like to see more episodes that are centric around all of them though. But it would seem every Generation you got some that will take precedence of the others. Kanto - Starters, Johto - Bayleef, Hoenn - Sceptile, Sinnoh - Infernape, Unova - Oshawott. So mainly the starters get the most exposer and development which is probably due to them being marketable.
