Okay so originally I was considering just bringing back "who's N's mother" but basing it on N's whole family is muuuch more interesting! Here's some points to discuss, don't copy/paste them directly, just discussss!!!

- Who is N's mother?
- Do Anthea and Concordia have any connection to N in terms of family?
- Could N be adopted?
- If N were to have a child what would it be like?

Aaand anything else you can think of to discuss in terms of N's family! :) Bring up as much outside material as you'd like, too, because research makes the discussion much more fun!

Let's see.
-N, who is rather pure about Pokémon and wants to free them from humans.
-Ghetsis, who wants him to be the only one with Pokémon.
I'd say N is adopted, because Ghetsis needed a puppet for his plans.

I once read an article, though I cannot find it anymore, that N could be a Zoroark transformed. The hair matches, and since he could understand Pokemon, which is shown by Pokemon mostly and seldom humans, he is theorized to be a Zoroark in disguise to protect the world and such.

But if he is a human, I strongly believe that N could NOT HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Ghetsis and himself had so much in common. Putting genetics in the picture, many traits of Ghetsis seemed to be passed down on to N, especially the color of the hair. He just became like that because Ghetsis wanted not a child but a puppet.

I think that his mother is a Tropius, that's why his surname is Gropius. Ghetsis + Tropius! And he has green hair and Tropius has got green thingies on its head too! :o

I assume that if Ghetsis and N are related, the former is probably not N's biological parent, but perhas a close relative who has adopted N when his parents died. N was probably too young to remember anything, so he kind of accepted Ghetsis as his father.
He pretty much became a puppet until he starts questioning himself and the world around him. (all boys grow up).

I'm kind off pro NxTouko, but his girlfriend is up to the story itself. : > If N ever ends up having children, he would probably make sure that his child would never have to live the life he had.

I'd say he's adopted it. I just can't see how those two can be biological.

Well to be fair the views of a child often don't match the views of a biological child. My mother and I have drastically different views on many things, despite sharing a house for 18 years in a healthy communicative relationship. On the other hand, N certainly did not have such a relationship with Ghetsis, so to have warped ideals is kind of expected. While some personality traits can be passed from parent to child, ideas generally aren't hereditary.

I could get behind the 'evil uncle' theory. But here's a thought...N has a father but no mother. The main character has a mother but no father. It could be possible that they're actually siblings, making the character and N intertwined in the context of the story even more. Although the protagonist's mother never implied anything negative about his/her father, it could very well be that Ghetsis puts on a front of being 'on a Pokemon journey' with calls home and such while actually fronting Team Plasma. But then that theory falters when Ghetsis shows himself publicly in a town near Nuvema as himself, and if the two were married and had two children together then at least the people in neighboring towns would know about it and recognize him. Which implies...

The protagonist's mom is part of Team Plasma. The protagonist was raised from birth to become a rival to N, with careful planning the way N was raised. Why? From Bulbapedia on the legend of the two dragons:

However, eventually their sons continued the fight and both the dragons started to battle again, destroying the Unova region with their fire and lightning powers before disappearing.

It takes both of them to destroy the Unova region, not just one. And they have to be fighting. The master plan is unveiled

This is crazy but it makes so much sense! I always expected Ghetsis to be N's father but this just blew my mind hahaha

Toujours's theory is very intriguing. While it isn't a theory without doubts such as the Shadow Triad being the gym leaders who give out the Trio badge, it does repeat the legend of the twin princes and their dragons. And to add to that, anybody notice that the player gets to control one of the dragons the princes controlled while N seized control of the other dragon the other twin controlled?

I doubt this theory only because it is a bit too unexpected... and out there for Pokemon. Usually, the mother is a very static character. Though it would be interesting, there's already enough going on with the protagonist, like defeating the Unova league and Team Plasma.

I thought of a really wild conspiracy theory. I haven't played Pokemon Black the entire way through, but it seems that Alder has a lot of involvement in the story. Makes sense that he would, much like Cynthia, and being Champion of the regional league and all. But what if Alder is actually N's father? They do look kind of alike- they both have long hair held back and their strange hair color is the same as their eye color (well, sort of with Alder). And, they both seem to really connect with Pokemon. I'm not putting out the theory that N could actually be a Zoroark, but rather furthering the theory by claiming that Alder is N's father and possibly a Zoroark as well! Alder has the same Zoroark look that N does as well!

I love this thread, because I can share my views on what I believe N's childhood was like.

I think N's mother is someone from another region or someone in Unova has yet to be introduced. I don't see N being adopted. I think he's just a shame to his father, and his father exploited his love for Pokémon to his advantage and manipulated him for his own selfish needs of being the only one with Pokémon. Had he succeeded, I imagine that he'd do the same with N.

N's childhood was a rough one. He lived in a castle-like thing, at the very bottom of some hole room thing with a massive stone staircase - well below the earth's surface. He was kept there by his father with Pokémon his father would steal and hide. He was kept there because his father didn't approve of him and N brought shame to him. He developed a close relationship with all of the Pokémon his father would put in the room, which gave him the ability to understand them after time went on. He had two caretakers, Anthea and Concordia, who cared for him (obviously) and taught him. After a while, his father became aware of the friendship formed between N and the Pokémon, and manipulated him into using his feelings for Pokémon (whom were his only friends, bar Anthea and Concordia, who he became friends with because they were the only humans he spoke to) to spread his misguided ordeals.

After the events that took place in White, N marries Anthea (simply because I like her more and find her more beautiful than Concordia, but they are both very beautiful) and he has a child who shares the same values and holds the same friendship and understanding of Pokémon that he had.

I like this. BUT you didn't take into account that Ghetsis doesn't know you at first. There must've been more obvious signs of him being your father, while N's connection to your mother yeaaah that would never show. :(

Then what relation to N does Ghetsis have if Alder's the father?

Why wouldn't his father approve of him, though? Because he had green hair?

Very interesting! However... N leaves Unova (or goes somewhere distant at least, like Ghetsis) and as far as we know, Anthea is stuck in N's castle. Also, isn't Anthea like a lot older than N? How do they meet up AFTER that and get married, is the question!

I know, this is stupid, but... I just thought if N's mom is a Lucario. Is it possible?lol

-Who is N's mother? I have no idea. I think she and Ghetsis were married and she died in childbirth, so he got all crazy and stuff.
- Do Anthea and Concordia have any connection to N in terms of family? They probably raised him, like nannies.
- Could N be adopted? He could, but I think that is unlikely.
- If N were to have a child what would it be like? It'd be a Pokemon! :D

......Great.....Another Rule 34 image popped into my head, and Ghetsis is a bit more twisted than i thought.

Anyways, I actually believe the whole N is Black's brother. Here is the thing though: Black's mother saw how wicked Ghetsis was after N was born, and decided to run away from Team Plasma in an effort to spare Black from N's dismal future. She raised Black on her own, keeping him in the least developed area of Unova, and feared that Plasma may come for him one day, which is why he started his adventure so late. After hearing that Plasma was near by, she rushed after Black to make sure Ghetsis had not taken him, only to see that he did not recognize his own son standing so near. Relieved, she rushed to by Black a pair of running shoes, more as a precaution in case someone from Plasma did recognize Black, and rushed them to him.

Hence why she is right behind you with the shoes. Zekrom and Reshiram merely reinforce my idea that this is what transpires, simply because the princes were brothers, and had similar feelings but separate ideals.

As for N being a Zoroark, impossible. Pokemon cannot catch other Pokemon and cannot talk, both of which N does.

Anthea and Concordia are both Aunts of N. They knew of Black's birth, which is why they urge you not to harm him, and tell you his story. Black's mother made them both promise to never speak a word to N or Black of their siblings. This was to keep Black safe, and N secure in the fact that his mother loved him very much, despite the fact that she could not be around.

N is not adopted, because Ghetsis even acknowledges that he is N's father, but had only used him for his own gain. He does not say he is N's father, but he acknowledges the fact several times throughout the game.

As for N's child, I believe that he eventually falls for Bianca. She represents things in life he sought to protect: innocence, naivety, selflessness, and, to some degree, helplessness. Seeing her love for Pokemon only makes her seem even more perfect to him. Their child is most likely a boy with blond hair, green eyes, and a deep love for Pokemon. They move back to Bianca's home town, where N is reunited with his mother, and she explains everything to him.

God.....I put too much thought into this.

I think that N is an artificial clone of Ghetsis. When N gets older, they're going to be practically identical. Anthea and Concordia don't know that N was a clone, so they don't bring up parental things with him.

Have anybody of you noticed that when you check TV in your house it says:
"It's a flat-screen television that Dad bought!". I doubt Ghetsis is player's father. Would he buy a TV for your house? lol. I think player's dad could be introduced in Gray as new character, like in every third game there is at least one new character.
Speaking of N's family I think it's not important enough to show because they could be Pokemon. Precisely I think N could be Zorua or Zoroark. Look at history of Zoroark's and N's names:
At first in movie's logo only one letter of Zoroark's name was revealed:

http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/b/ba/PhantomRulerZ_logo.png

The full name was revealed later. Identical thing was done with N's name. Firstly only one letter, later the whole name - Natural. Another thing is that letters Z and N look the same when rotated 90 degrees.
Zoroark, seeing Ghetsis' power, could transform itself as abandoned child to get adopted by Ghetsis. It could also transform itself to have green hair to look more like Ghetsis' child.
In case of talking N is also different from any other human in Pokemon games. Firstly he can understand what Pokemon says, secondly he speak much faster than any other character. Maybe it's some kind of telepathy.
That Zorua/Zoroark transformed as N could manage to be adopted by Ghetsis to help him in separating people from Pokemon and at the end of the game realize that it was all Ghetsis' lie.
