Research :
How does your teacher/ professor tell you to call DNA?

My school uses "Deoxyribose Neucleic Acid".
------------------------------------------------

No babies messing about in this post, please! =.=
This is a RESEARCH.

Deoxyribonucleic Acid is what I was taught in Yr 11 Biology. The teacher drilled it in until we knew how to spell it as well.

EDIT: I just checked over my notes and corrected myself.

I may be 12, but my school is already cramming THAT in our heads. We use Deoxyribose Neucleic Acid. (I don't know how to spell it, so I copied and pasted the one that looked right to me.)

My school teaches it in spanish , and the inicial are ADN , which in English will stand for your first option.

Heh when i was in school it just all ran together lol.this is kinda a funky poll lol.

The correct word is Deoxyribonucleic Acid.

Well can't write it down on English so I'll put it dow on my language:

Dezoksiribonukleinska kiselina, the last word means acid.

Edit: After years of research:

Deoxyribonucleic Acid

When I was taught this two years ago, my teacher said Deoxyribonucleic Acid.

Deoxyriboneucleic Acid is what we are always taught.

Same here. The other ones seem wierd to me.

I have a major headache today... I go to a special school that you have to be REALLY smart to get in to, and I'm in all advanced classes there. We've been learning this for about 2 months...

Err... my teacher just uses DNA... o.o;

The correct word is Deoxyribonucleic Acid.
They are ALL correct, really :D
Just different people have different ways...
------------------------------------------------------
Well, what my teacher told me was:

DEOXY (and deosy) is the name given for the molecule. (Remember "Doexys" :D)
This molecule contains RIBOSE SUGAR. That makes Deoxyribose.
This molecule is an ACID, so Acid.

Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid.

And then people tend to cut it short, Deoxyribonucleic Acid, and finally DNA, for the shortest form.

Deoxyribonucleic Acid is what my teacher taught us.

Lemme see, we mostly use it as one whole word here... but if we split it, it is usually "Deoxy" "Riboneuclic" "Acid"...

Deoxyribonucleic Acid is what he said but we call it DNA

Deoxyribo Neucleic Acid is what we were first taught, then it went to DNA durning middle school, and my last few year of high school we just called it Deo Neu Acid.

It's Deoxyribonucleic Acid for me. I actually liked this stuff in biology last year. ^^ I think it was that way in middle school too, but I didn't see it spelled out very often because the books would just say DNA from what I can remember.

That makes DRA! XD

My teacher said that Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid is the full term of DNA...

But I'm sure most ppl use "DRA" nowadays XD

Gawd, we're only in the 7th grade, and we're not even in Biology. It's still science XD.

We use Deoxyribonucleic Acid. o.o;. I have to make a 3d model of a cell 'cause we're studying it. Wah. XD

wow, interesting!

My school just teach us all sorts of boring theories and we hardly do any practical. and they never did use models =.=

They aren't actually all correct. Deoxyribose is the pentose sugar found in DNA, and is simply called Deoxyribose. Deoxyribonucleic Acid is made up of a pentose sugar (in this case - Deoxyribose), a nitrogen base (Adenine, Thymine, Guamine or Cytosine) and something else XD Sorry for the biology lesson XD

We were taught Deoxyriboneucleic Acid. I guess different schools teach different things. {Obviously. XD}

This "something else" is called a phosphate group and joins the sugars and the bases together. The correct name is Deoxyribonucleic Acid as far as I know. I think this stuff is really interesting especially when you do it in detail. DNA replication and the processes by which proteins and polypeptide chains are formed are truly amazing. However, that's my own opinion. I doubt if anyone here agrees XD

Deoxyriboneucleic Acid. I actually like this class for once, lol, so I've been paying really close attention. But just about everyone else calls it DNA. They are also the people who failed the recent test, lol.

The people who made DNA really just copied the pokemon "Deoxys" and stole one of Grimer's attacks, "Acid", and simply formed. "Doexyriboneucleic Acid."

That's the spelling I was l00king for. Though yes, as the majority has voted, I've been taught Deoxyribonucleic Acid.
