Recently people at my school found out that i played pokemon, i have been playing for most of my life, but when i started doing an LP of pokemon sapphire on youtube some people at my school found out, and started telling everyone that i play pokemon, it doesnt really bother me much though because they are just trying to do it to embarrass me, and i dont really care, but has this happened to anyone else and have has it ever got really serious like getting beaten up or bullied for it?

brefly. Those are the people who are actually immature as they can't look past "That's for babies". TBH it bowled over pretty quick. Most people grew out of bullying about such things and now myself and a few others will openly play pokemon in the middle of our common room during lunch or free periods.

Same here, I got some kids back into pokemon and was making trading deals for pokemon in Gold, silver and crystal with my friends. Still rocking the link cable!

People in my school actually like pokemon (those who do get made fun of are the ones that say pokemon is immature), so it's no problem for me. :)

I get made fun of, but it's by friends not like real bullies. And I insult them back with sarcastic remarks about their ugly shoes or something, so it balances out.

I often got bullied for my love towards Pokemon.

For me, my friends have all played Pokemon before, but they stopped because they found something like CoD or MW2/MW3. Most of my friends are guys because I'm sort of a tomboy. They wonder why I keep playing, but they're okay with it most of the time. One of them gets annoyed when I talk about it too much with him, but that's because when he caught a Seedot, he was yelling in glee, "I got a Seedot!" over and over at his friend's house. His friend was playing CoD with the microphone on so people were throwing insults at him and his friend asked him to shut up. He also couldn't beat a Pokemon game without the help of an AR or something like it because he's not a patient guy. Then my friend got interested in CoD. A few weeks ago, he gave away all his Pokemon games to some other friends.
When I won the school Geography Bee, I got all the attention I needed. I don't like being in the spotlight, but due to winning the Bee, I don't think people will bother me much if they find out I play Pokemon. Everyone at my school is completely absorbed into CoD and MW3.

I played it in class and no one even cared.

Although I did see some guy on the train who started telling people I was playing Pokemon... the funny thing about that was... I wasn't.

I was playing Dragon Quest...

I was never really bullied because a lot of my friends played it so there was like a massive group of us. High School it took me awhile to admit that I played Pokemon, but it turns out that half my school did as well so it all worked out for me. The only people that bug me about it are some of my older cousins.

I never was made fun of...I mean I'm a 6'2" 214lb Angry Italian lol

But on a serious note don't let it faze you. People who make fun of others for stuff like that mean they have nothing in their lives. We love pokemon. I have been playing since its US Release and I'm 21, People my age go get wasted i chill put some club dogo on and play for hours to me thats a good time well spent.

Do what you love and ignore those who are stuck with their miserable lives.

You people are lucky, if ANYONE found out that I still play it i would be the outcast of the school. Im a high school student that lives in a small town where everybody thinks its cool to be a hillbilly redneck and chew during school and call people fags all of the time (I get called a ♥♥♥ when Im making out with my GIRLfriend, lol)

No one knows, and no one will ever know ... Only some friends who play Pokémon know that I play Pokémon too, but that's all.
One day, a friend of mine that doesn't play it used my cell phone and looked at my songs. As a huge fan, I have all the openings in many languages and game musics on my phone, anyway, except me nobody use it ! But when my friend discovered that, she totally made fun of me "What's those things? xD You listen to Pokémon music?". Wow, that was so embarassing, I didn't know what to say anymore ! Moreover, there was many people around, it was horrible ! Fortunately I'd say something like it was my little brother's songs or something like that and then she stop bothering me. But I was really ashamed... Since this moment I don't want anybody to know that I love Pokémon :pink_blush:

I never got made fun of, I played it openly in class (at the expense of annoying my teacher like crazy) so no-one could say anything because they knew I wouldn't be embarrassed.

I got made fun of playing pokemon when I was 12( reason why I joined the community) but now I'm 14 nobody seems to care what you play.
When they get older they either forget it or they don't care or so.

No, but I do get made fun of for being on the computer all the time. rofl

But I live in Missouri, so other than going to bars (which I can't do until September), movies, and Wal-Mart, there's not really that much else to do.

I never got how it is cute, but whatever. :'D
Plus, a lot of my friends play it, too. So they can't really say TOO much.

When I was younger. By the time I was in college (17 years old) people didn't really mind. I even took my DS to college one day and played it during one of my study breaks and a collegue from my Physics class wanted to have a go at battling lol.

I haven't told any one at school I like Pokemon mainly because I get enough insults from my family about "don't you think your a bit old for that" I just ignore them but it kind of hurts when your own family insults me for it yes most 16 year olds play CoD and other shooting games but everyone's different and I feel if I told anyone at school id be the laughing stock of the school so I tend to keep it to myself and what makes it worse is there's no one I know that likes Pokemon apart from the kid that's about six down my road and that's just a little bit weird to be honest.

I was on the local subway, some guy asked what I was playing. I told him I was playing Pokemon Black, and he got pissed and started swearing about it. I was thinking "What a DICK!" Then, he got off because he couldn't take it anymore, muttering something about Call of Duty or something. I heard him and said "It takes a REAL MAN to play Pokemon at my age and actually ENJOY it as much as I do." He flipped me off.

Yes it has, being in my mid 20's and still playing Pokemon; has brought on an almost unending amount of behind the back tuants and teases. However in saying that I have never let it get to me.I If you enjoy Pokemon play it. People will say what wanna say.

I am sometimes made fun of by my friends as i still play pokemon at the age of 17. But its nothing serious. Also playing games from the 2nd biggest gaming franchise in the world in nothing to be embarrased about :D

High school, yes.

but when I was at Uni... (that's University/College), everyone in my course was like:
"Pokemon? Hell yeah!"

And have you ever seen the bulk of people at Tournaments? most are like... 15 - 30,
which being a strategic battling game is understandable.

People who generally tease people are usually idiots not capable of understanding anything lateral.

I remember being made fun of for playing Pokemon. Eventually, I just said I quit, even though I didn't. I even told the other pokemon players that I quit, and that it was for kids. This stopped the teasing. However, I still play pokemon. And I only let my closest friends know.

When somebody else plays pokemon, I usually just stay silent...can't really say anything without it backfiring(ex. admitting that I like pokemon or hurting someone else's feelings)

I don't tell most people I play it unless the topic of Pokemon comes up, where I have no worry or hesitation of admitting it. I've not once been made fun of for playing - in fact, a lot of people that I say it to admit to playing as well. :P

Actually, not at all, well not really. Pokémon has became more popular at my high school. No ones afraid to admit it, few times we even tried to set up some card tournaments.

All fun and good. ^.^

HELL NO.

The people over at my school have seen me get pissed. Heck, they know that I actively pursue being a Pokémon fan for the rest of my life. Even those who plan to get back into the series ask for my 'effing help. And I've bred and traded for them as well, and one of them even asked me to get an event Pokémon for them as well. XD

Yeah, that's right. I'm the schools local Pokéxpert and they in fact praise me for it.
Then again, I'm pretty childish as it is. Hey, at least I don't smoke/drink unlike other people at school.

I got teased about it a lot back in grades 5-8. Middle school really blows.

Not so much now. In high school, it seems that half the class plays it, so no one really teases people about it anymore.

Currently in post-secondary school... I find it hard to find people that don't like Pokemon around here. So... No.
It's kinda fun actually considering how much people tend to ask me about certain things in Pokemon. They seem to think I am a wizard or something.

Nobody knows, as I don't hide it or show it. But, I know if I walked into class and said I play Pokemon, I wouldn't get too much hate, as a girl at my school (same age) always wears this Pikachu hat, and isn't really bullied.

Im 25 now and still get the pokemon out on a daily basis, even if its just for a battle or two, I dont hide the fact that I play, but I dont broadcast it either. I have been playing since I was 10 and explain to anyone that questions me that I just never stopped playing. Most people couldnt care less.

A friend of mine's kid brother found out that I play pokemon (He's 11 or something) he was all excited so I brough my DS over and I hooked him up with some cool pokes, some of which he'd never even heard of, then the cheeky little S#!t says to me that I should grow up and stop playing kiddy games! The nerve of kids these days, honestly.

I then proceeded to tell him that I have a Blastoise that is older than him! The stunned look on his face was priceless, I think I broke his brain.
I finished by saying come back and let me know when you're a real pokemon master.

Nope. I'm in my 30s and I play Pokemon. Of course, everyone who knows me also knows that I collect Transformers and that I'm a geek at heart. So they don't tease me about it at all. (And it wouldn't work if anyone tried!)

Once I entered the 6th grade, people around here realized that Pokémon was cool and the ones who didn't secretly played it in there bedrooms. (When Black and White came out, nearly all of my Facebook friends were talking about it, I think...) I haven't gotten made fun of for playing Pokémon since 4th grade, and that was partially my fault because I threw it around all the time. Like when we were in the classroom at the end of the school day waiting for the bus to come and get called down to go on, I'd have Pokémon battles on the chalkboard with a friend. I don't even know how we regulated those, really? .____.
