They have black backgrounds because black backgrounds are fun.

Awwwww the Umbreon is adorable! I love its pose! ^_^ I really like the shading you have used on both of them. :) You have a very unique style!

They're ADORABLE!^0^ Espeon is my favorite pokemon(henceforth my name!XD) And you drew it perfectly!^^ Except, you forgot the marking on the baby Umbreon's forehead!XD Would it be alright if I used you're Espeon pic?=3
