I heard that the PSP isn't that great. It is sold in the UK by now. Ive heard of reports of them massed produced very quickly and it tends to fall apart, have glitches, and dust on the inner lcd screens.
Anyway Im happy for the FFAC coming out for it even tho its a nonplayable game movie. And Ive seen Metal Gear Acid and they said its a card battle game??
I know that yugioh should be coming out for the psp and they said DMC3 will come out for it too but they said its a card battle game too!
Will it be like Kingdom Hearts CoM? bc i really hated those attack cards and stuff.

In my opinion the DS is a better buy.The reason I think this is because it has some good games that the PSP doesn't.But in the end it's your choice so pick wisely.

This isn't a debate thread, or a poll =\
So lets stay on topic before there is more arguing than discussion.
Secondly, PSP has some good games that the DS doesn't have, and could never support.

I'll get a PSP i suppose. I've always liked handheld gaming, but really... Italian food totally makes all the other gaming consoles look like marinara (no pun intended, Snap.)

That totally bites I thought before the psp came out that Final Fantasy 7 AC the movie was going to come out for ps2 but then I found out its only for the PSP so does that mean I have to pay $300 just to see that movie?

i've heard several reports people having problems with a dead pixel (or something like that) on the screen of the PSP, ie a pixel thats always black or something. hopefully the next wave of PSPs will have that fixed. also how is the battery life? i've also heard it's quite small...
the graphics just look wonderful on this system. are there any good rpgs scheduled to be out for it soon?
oh and fyi- i've noticed, since i live in japan, that psps seem to be doing better than ds here. they are about equally advertised i think, but most places seem sold out of psps but have a good stock in the ds. i wonder if that means more japanese developers will want to pick up psps to program for?

Shh, Dakota. There’s no inferiority because if we so much as mention any other handhelds in this thread, we’ll be torn to pieces.
Ahh, maturity. Anyways, Nippon Ichi says they’re developing for it, so I suppose I’ll end up using one. That along with Squaresoft.

I agree with Kairi- whichever system has my developers on it, I may buy. Nippon-ichi (i love your avatar kairi, and i love disgaea... last year i cosplayed etona at otakon ^.^) and Square-enix ahhh *drooooool*.... and namco too i hear is already developing a tales game for PSP. it sounds so lucrative to me to buy it....
Although, isnt everyone happy with their GBA? I'm still so happy with mine, even after these years... I love its graphics and games still. It may take a while, or a *really* good rpg, for me to buy the new systems (but i'm sure i will cave in and buy one at some point in the future).

Wow, a Naziboy with Schutzstaffel -- that's SS for those of you that don't know your history that well -- goodness. You've got to love the bad pun, and the bad joke with the 100 screens in the pic above.
Methinks Nintendo wouldn't name a device after the Nazi defence squad, much less use GBA-size paks for a newer device.

Ahh, maturity.
Maturity is for those of us that aren't true enough to themselves to listen to the little voices in their heads. I, for one, like what the wee voice in my head has to say.

And do we really need this topic? It's just another PSP topic...which is basically structureless

It'll go so well with my DS dog! =D Thanks Nintendo and Sony, I love you!
As for that SS thing, I could see it being real “We are doing something no one in the market has ever tried. This will offer new experiences for the gamer, and instantly spark fresh, original games”
It's the DS drivel, and it can be applied to anything, no matter how obviously stupid.
Also, I love this thread. For all the complaints the "PSP people" ruin the DS threads, we finally have a DS fanboy in one of these doing the same. And don't say you're not, cause subliminal or not, you're still saying it's dead.

Fanboy?!?1!/!one!
And nobody put together the bolded letters of my previous post. I guess it's just self-evident of the intelligence level of PSP fanboys.
And that quote was quite below the belt, so I just had to add the PSP fanboy comment. I don't see Italians doing anything in the development of Nintendo systems -- I assume that's the language in the diagram. Unless you're from the far East or the far West (i.e. Japan, or the US/UK respectively), you're not going to be doing much in the video game development industry. And don't mention Mario/Jumpman to refute the Italian reference, since he was originally created to poke fun at an Italian bigwig.
I'm personally not into the PSP poppycock (I can alliterate, too), which states: "We will do our utmost to create rehash games and put together as many features as possible to fit in the widest demographic possible."

That wasn’t targeted at you. Other people int he past in these threads have cried bloody murder when the DS was challenged by the PSP folks, I was mocking them, not you. Sorry for the mixup.

Now you’re directly going at its fans, kind of reversing the point you’re trying to make about the comment not being self-evident.

That sounds more DS to me. “Rehash games (Mario64DS) that are slapped together with “features”. The PSP is more like a hampered PS2 on wheels, IMO.
With such ease in artificially producing the “points” for both sides, how can anyone not believe they’re garbage? ^_~

I'm not offended. I was refering to your comments on the DS itself, with the "drivel" alliteration, not the "PSP people" reference.

Exactly. The comment should be self-evident to intelligent gamers.

PSP = souped up iPod on wheels;
And I hate iPods -- in fact, anything Apple.
PS2 ports directly to the PSP aren't rehash, though. Not when we're talking about the precious PSP. (That's sarcasm for the slower ones of the bunch.)

Most people don’t appreciate anti-PSP campaigns in threads that are solely about it, though. Besides, the PSP’s additional features like MP3 playback won’t make or break it, on both systems it’s going to come down to games

I actully pre-ordered my PSP at EB just incase there is a shortage, like there was back when it was released (not that there isn't one now, but not as bad). I'm just sick of all the people who bash the PSP, because of its "games", which already are proving to be impressive. I don't see how one can bash it so much when its barely released.

Replace "PSP" with "DS", rinse, repeat. Ironic.
"I heard that the PSP isn't that great." -- Those are the first words of the thread. I think pro-PSP comments are less applicable to this topic than the converse.

Most good games released on Playstation2 hardware had ports to PC games. Insofar, the previous also holds true to PSP games -- as announced. So, that laptop that's already used for countless things can also be used for games.
I tried touching the LCD screen on my PC and nothing happens. I'll try touching the LCD screen on the PSP, and I'll see what happens. But, I do know that something happens when I touch the LCD screen of my DS.
The usefulness of the PSP comes from what? It's just a watered down laptop PC. If that's what you want, get a real laptop PC. (They play real DVD movies, too: none of those tiny, compressed rubbish discs.)

Don’t post a sarcastic image unless you truly have “pwned”. Which you haven’t.
Now it’s time to learn. Today’s first lesson is about scope
This is one thread. Go get the internet. Got it? Good. Now go out and find how many rapid fans who will bite your head off if you diss their platform there are on both sides. Denying this will show ignorance and resulting a barrage of links.
Most good games released on Playstation2 hardware had ports to PC games. Insofar, the previous also holds true to PSP games -- as announced. So, that laptop that's already used for countless things can also be used for games.
You defy yourself. You have already acknowledged you don’t like the PS2 at all. Thus your opinion on what are “good games” is not to be held even in the state of an opinion, much less fact. You can not claim the “good” games are ports, because you do not believe there are good games.
Furthermore, many of the titles are new games based on familiar franchise (a tatic that, undeniably works.) The DS’ best selling game is a re-hash of a game from an outdated console. Furthermore, the feature it demo’d, it made popular, it thrived off of—analog control—hey it’s missing in this release. Guess who does have that control? Why it’s the PSP. They LEARNED from Nintendo’s success. They didn’t ignore it, like Nintendo did.
I tried touching the LCD screen on my PC and nothing happens. I'll try touching the LCD screen on the PSP, and I'll see what happens. But, I do know that something happens when I touch the LCD screen of my DS.
If you touch a PSP’s screen, it won’t do anything EITHER. Get freaking real. This is called blowing things out of proportion. Sure, the PSP’s screen is more fragile than the DS. But implying you touch it and it causes damage is ridiculous. Keep your extreme bias on a leash for a second to realize how unrealistic your comments are before you send.

The PSP is not a laptop. It is first and primarily a gaming system. It offers a lot of functionality that compliments, not replaces computers and MP3 players. These features are not a primary focus of the hardware, like the Ngage.
Untested play mechanics are a..I’m sorry, the primary push of the DS. That’s called setting down on a not firm foundation. It usually doesn’t work out well. The only games that even feasibly use these features, at the moment, feel like shallow tech demos, that no real gamer or kid will get a large amount of playtime out of. So the DS’s inferior hardware thus longer lasting battery doesn’t even really matter, then.
Also, funny. You encourage us to use full-sized discs, when Nintendo is the only one on the console market not doing just that. Which console sells the worst again? I forgot. ^_^

Hey Hellish Hades, have you used a PSP?
I dont want to hear a 'No, but its just a laptop omg, I'm anti sony I'll get crappy ports on my PC' answer.
Just a yes, or a no.
Yes. Straight from Nippon.
The quality of PC ports is a choice, since enivitably, the maximum quality option on a game will be better on a PC than a console. If you choose to buy a rubbish PC, then that's another matter.
You defy yourself. You have already acknowledged you don’t like the PS2 at all. Thus your opinion on what are “good games” is not to be held even in the state of an opinion, much less fact. You can not claim the “good” games are ports, because you do not believe there are good games.
Your defy yourself. I challenge you to find an instance of my saying "all PS2 games are rubbish", or something along that line.
Most good games released on Playstation2 hardware had ports to PC games. Insofar, the previous also holds true to PSP games -- as announced. So, that laptop that's already used for countless things can also be used for games.
Note how I used inclusive words like "most", whereas you use exclusive words, like "at all", to reference what I said. It seems as though you have baises of your own: either toard me, or the PSP. I do not care to which it is. Regardless, I did not say that all PS2 games are rubbish.
Untested play mechanics are a..I’m sorry, the primary push of the DS. That’s called setting down on a not firm foundation. It usually doesn’t work out well. How do you suggest creating innovation? You cannot test such features on a large scale without revealing said features to your competitors. Nor can you see the sorts of things developers will be able to do with the device unless you actually create it. I'd rather have the video game industry be pushed forward by things new and creative, rather than simply increasing processing power of a device and putting it in a smaller package.
Methinks your bias comes through while interpreting what I have said and blowing it out of proportion.
Also, funny. You encourage us to use full-sized discs, when Nintendo is the only one on the console market not doing just that. Which console sells the worst again? I forgot. ^_^This is also funny. You assume that I fully support Nintendo Gamecube, et al, without my saying so. Which console has more processing power than the other two, uses full-sized discs, and has a big "X" on the front? T'is my pick.
She never had anything against you, she just told you to be more polite about a certain topic, especially when it's the topic of the thread.I already quoted the first sentence of the topic. The quote clearly illustrates anti-PSP sentiments. Which belongs less in the thread: comments that endorse or criticise the PSP in a topic that started by doing the latter?

I might be going out on a limb by saying this, but I don't think this thread was made for PSP bashing... >>;;
As I see it, the PSP and DS are equals. They both have their own special features, and will both release great titles in the future.
Every thread I look in about a DS or PSP, someone is bashing one or the other. Its gotta stop people! Keep your thoughts to yourself, so we don't have to listen to your whining! ^^;;

Um...this "psp" thread has basically turned into a PSP vs DS thread, and we already have one of those...no need for two, and since the other one is older >_>
