The Art of RNG

Welcome to the Art of RNG! Here we discuss RNG abuse and show off our most recent RNG abuses. If you need help with RNG abuse, please review the RNG Guides and feel free to ask any questions here. We would like to encourage you to try on your own first, but don't be afraid to ask for help if you are just plain lost. We're here to help and spread the joy of RNG abuse to anyone interested.

Rules
~ If you're asking for help,
- Provide which version of RNG Reporter (or PPRNG for Macs) you're using.
- Provide which version Pokemon game you're playing.
- What are you trying to capture or hatch? What were your results? Explain what you're doing.
- What is your target seed and frame? How are you verifying your seed or frame? If you can provide screenshots of what you're seeing/doing in RNG Reporter, please do so.
- Please don't get frustrated if you're continuously failing. Your first RNG attempts may take several hours or even days. Be polite to those trying to help you.

~ If you're commenting on others' RNG abuses,
- Please try to be respectful as possible when advising or criticizing a member.
- Please don't request a trade on here. If you particularly like a member's abuse, try to respectfully request for a trade from said member's Trade Shop or contact him/her via VM, if they do not have a Trade Shop.

~ If you're posting your own RNG abuses,
- Add to the conversation. Don't just post your new Pokemon and nothing else.

The RNG wall is just a distraction, behind some lose vines is the real pathway. You creep through the narrow passageway, the stones in the walls laden with sparkling, azure stones.

It's only then that you notice more strange markings, this time caved in to the wall. The markings seem to show a pattern - the first stone only has one, the second has two, and the number of marks ascends the further along the wall. Until... nothing. A blank stone and the end of the passageway. Through a deep crack, light trickles in - but how do you get through there?[/css-div][/css-div]

[a id]RNG Guide[/a id]
Pokémon Black/White RNG Guide

[a id]toprng[/a id]Introduction It is said that every Pokémon you encounter along your journey of ~epic proportions~ is unique. Your starter Pokémon is "randomly" adamant, female, and likes to run. As it turns out, these events are determined by pseudo random number generators, or the output of a class of mathematical formulas. The word pseudo implies that your game is not really random; the randomness is fake, an illusion. In fact, a very particular pattern exists. With proper knowledge and execution, one can predict when and where shiny, flawless, and other desirable Pokémon exist. This guide will help you learn how to abuse your game's pseudo RNG.
[a id]prereq[/a id]Pre-requisites for Standard Seed Abuse— Pokémon Black or Pokémon White
— RNG Reporter (download latest version 9.95 here (http://j.mp/zjoiIX))
— Nintendo DS Original or Lite is recommended. DSi/3DS will work but have some key differences (click here to read these differences)
— IV Calculator (click to use Metalkid's IV Calculator (http://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/Calculators/IV.aspx))
— Your Secret ID (SID), if you desire shiny Pokémon. You can find your SID by using Pokécheck.
— Do NOT use Action Replay, flashcart, or emulator. This guide will not discuss how to RNG abuse while using these devices. You will get weird results.
— MAC Address
— Open Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings from either the Main Menu or through the C-Gear.
— Click the orange box, Options. Click the pink box, System Information.
— Copy the entire MAC Address (ignore the hyphens). Write it down and/or store it somewhere easily accessible (e.g. notepad, word, forum post).
— Click for image of how to obtain MAC Address from Nintendo Wi-Fi Settings (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12206225/RNG/dmemaclocation.png) — Helpful Pokémon
— Chattering Chatot: Obtain a Chatot (not found in Black/White, but can be obtained in Dream World's Windswept Sky, in 4th Gen, or over Wi-Fi). Teach Chatot the move Chatter. Click on Chatter as if it were an HM. Teach Chatot any custom cry by using your DS microphone. Keep Chatot in your party; if you deposit it, it will forget its custom chatter, so you will have to customize its cry again. *Tip* Get 2 Chatot. You can quickly advance the frame by flipping back and forth between two Chatot.
— Sweet Scenter: Obtain any Pokémon knowing the move Sweet Scent (Foongus level 25; Maractus level 3).
— Synchronizer: Obtain Pokémon with desirable natures (Timid, Jolly, etc) having the ability Synchronize (Munna, Elgyem).
— Quick Egg Hatcher: Obtain a Pokémon with ability Flame Body (Magby, Slugma, Litwick, Larvesta). When in your party, it reduces the amount of steps required to hatch an egg.
— Flier: Obtain any Pokémon knowing HM Fly (Volcarona has Flame Body and can Fly).
— Flawless Parents: Obtain any Ditto and/or parent Pokémon with 30-31 IVs in desirable stats.

[a id]general[/a id]General Summary of Information
This section will become more useful after you attempt RNG abuse, so you may skip it for now but refer back to it later. Also, if you get confused by certain terminology when doing the Steps, refer back to this general section too!

Definitions— Seed: The number which is fed to the random number generator when the game starts. This number is created by a combination of the time and date the game started, the MAC Address, Keypress, and other Encryption Variables.
— IV: This is a Pokémon's individual values created when one first encounters or receives a Pokémon. The IVs are responsible for determining a Pokémon's characteristic, Hidden Power, and variation of stats. IVs range from 0 to 31, where IVs of 30 and 31 are most desired. Flawless Pokémon usually have 5 or 6 stats with IVs of 31. Abusing the IVs is known as Mersenne Twister RNG.
— PID: This is a Pokémon's personality value created when one first encounters or receives a Pokémon. The PID is responsible for determining a Pokémon's gender, ability, and shininess. The PID is also responsible for determining Spinda's spots, Unown's letter, and whether Wurmple evolves into a Beautifly or Dustox. Abusing the PID is known as PIDRNG.
— Target Time: A date and time you are trying to hit in order to get your desired result. This is the current date and time of your DS system. The target time has nothing to do with your save file's gameplay time.
— Target Date: A date you are trying to hit in order to get your desired result. No month or year is "better" or "luckier" than others but it doesn't hurt to search for shiny flawless spreads in multiple months throughout many years.
— Initial / Starting Frame: This is the initial PIDRNG Frame for a particular seed. Every seed has its own initial frame. The initial frame ranges from 38 to 60. You use RNG Reporter's 'Calculate Initial PIDRNG Frame' button to find your seed's initial frame.
— Target Frame: A frame number you are trying to hit in order to get a desired result. This usually refers to the PIDRNG Frame.
— Shifted Frame: This is the initial PIDRNG Frame for a particular seed PLUS whatever PID Frame advancements wandering (moving) trainers have done. Not every area has a Shifted Frame. Areas with no wandering trainers (e.g. Lostlorn Forest) and areas with trainers moving in a looping pattern (e.g. Route 9) will not give you a Shifted Frame. If your Shifted Frame is greater than your Target Frame, either re-save and try to get a lower Shifted Frame or don't use the Seed.
— NPCs: Non-player character; also known as wandering trainers. *Tip* When you enter a new route/town, you reset the NPCs. For example, from Striaton City, bike quickly into Route 3 and then save right in front of the Daycare Man holding the egg. Then, power off and do your Egg abusing. This gives you a better chance of the NPCs not moving as you get to the game to collect the egg.
— Encounter Slots: Encounter Slots are values that determine what Pokémon will appear depending on the PIDRNG frame on which you encounter it. Encounter Slots range from 0 to 11. They are different for each area. Certain Pokémon appear on certain Encounter Slots. For example, Joltik appears on Slot 0. This information is available under RNG Reporter's 5th Gen tools tab. Click to see: White (http://eggmove.com/encounterwhite.html) | Black (http://eggmove.com/encounterblack.html)
Different Pokémon to RNG abuse listed from least difficult to most difficult to do— Stationary Pokémon (Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyurem, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Volcarona)
— Gift Pokémon (Starters, Fossils, Magikarp, Dreamyard Monkey Trio; Larvesta Egg too but it has its own method)
— Wondercard Pokémon (Victini)
— Wild Pokémon in areas without moving NPCs using Encounter Slots
— Wild Pokémon in areas with moving NPCs using Encounter Slots
— Egg Abuse
— Swirling Dust / Bubbling Water Spot (Surf/Fish)
— White Forest Abuse (nonshiny and Synchronize)
— Roamer IV and Nature Abuse (nonshiny)
— C-Gear abuse for Entralink Pokémon from the Dream World
— Roamer IV/Nature Shiny Abuse in Snow or Rain
RNG Knowledge— Standard Seed Abuse: This method of RNG abuse requires precision down to the second. These seeds are determined the second you start your game from the DS menu. They are very easy to hit.
— Initial Frame for IVs— For wild and stationary Pokémon, the initial frame will be 1.
— For hatched Pokémon, the initial frame will be 8.
— For roaming Pokémon, the initial frame will be 1 but slightly different. The speed IV will be put before the SpAtk IV, shifting them to the right.
— RNG Reporter takes into account these changes, so you don't have to worry much about this. — Advancing the IV Frame
— Moving 128 steps with # Pokémon in your party will advance the frame by # Pokémon
— Moving a Pokémon to your party from the PC Box (Withdraw/Move) will advance the frame by 7.
— Entering a battle will advance the frame by approximately 120 frames per second. Not recommended on your DS. — Initial Frame for PID
— The PID, or Personality Value, is responsible for a Pokémon's nature, ability, shiny color, and so on. Click for more details (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Personality_value).
— This will vary between 38 to 60 from seed to seed. Always use RNG Reporter to calculate the Initial PID Frame for you. — Advancing the PID Frame
— Chattering Chatot: After teaching Chatot a recorded Chatter by using your DS microphone, every time you view its summary screen, its custom cry will advance the frame by 1.
— Saving the game will advance the frame by 1.
— Walking in areas with wild Pokémon will advance the frame by 2.
— Turning in areas with wild Pokémon will advance the frame by 2.
— Wandering NPCs will randomly advance the frame. — Breeding Information
— Do NOT use Power Items. They are not supported and will give you weird results.
— Ditto is considered as the opposite gender of the other Pokémon.
— Ditto is considered as the female when breeding a genderless Pokémon.
— Nidoran and Illumise/Volbeat species are not determined by Gender Ratios listed. They will be listed separately.

Colors match!
Step 1— Obtain a Sweet Scenter. Have it in your party.
— Have a party of 5 or less Pokémon.
— Save your game in Victory Road. You will be catching a wild Pokémon very soon.
— Download and open the RNG Reporter.
— Click the DS Parameters Search button.Step 1http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/4507/setupparametersstep1.th.png (http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/4507/setupparametersstep1.png)Step 2— Enter your game's version and language. Select the DS Type as DS Original/DS Lite (or DSi / 3DS if applicable).
— Enter your entire DS MAC Address (ignore the hyphens).
— Ensure that the Held Buttons are set to None.
— The remaining Seed Encryption variable ranges are the default. Step 2http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/4375/setupparametersrightsid.th.png (http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/4375/setupparametersrightsid.png)Step 3— The Date and Time is based on the DS's internal clock. For DS Original/Lite, use the clock shown on the menu to hit a time. For DSi/3DS, use an external clock (click for info).
— Choose any Target Date, Hour, Minute, but use 25 Seconds for simplicity reasons.
— In this example, my Target Time is July 20th, 6:13:25. I set my DS clock to July 20th, 6:13:00. Save DS options. Power off. Power on.
— From the DS Main Menu, at the moment the seconds hand clearly hits 25 seconds, click the A button to launch the Pokémon game.Step 3http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/3371/setupparametersdate.th.png (http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/3371/setupparametersdate.png)Step 4— Do NOT press any buttons until the white "Pokémon Company, Nintendo" message disappears. You can click A the moment you see the Gamefreak logo and opening cutscene. Load your save file.
— Do NOT launch the C-Gear. Use Sweet Scent immediately to enter a Pokémon battle. Catch that Pokémon.
— Use an IV Calculator to find the Pokémon's IV ranges.
— Input its IV ranges into RNG Reporter.Step 4http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/9915/setupparametersivranges.th.png (http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/9915/setupparametersivranges.png)Step 5— Click the Search button. You should have 1 result. For DS Original/Lite and DSi, the Actual Second should be +1 the second you hit. For 3DS, the Actual Second should be +8 the second you hit.
— If you get 2 or more results, examine the Actual Seconds column. In this example, I clicked A at 25 seconds. I look at the result with 26 seconds. I ignore the second result of 33 seconds.
— Write down your Timer0 value. In this example, my Timer0 value is C7CStep 5http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/1694/setupparameterssearchin.th.png (http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/1694/setupparameterssearchin.png)Step 6— You will be repeating the process of catching a Pokémon again. Turn off the DS. Turn on the DS.
— While on the DS Main Menu, note the Date/Time. Aim to hit another Target Time.
— In this example, I want to hit a Target Time of July 20th, 6:17:25. Update this new Target Time in RNG Reporter. Erase the IV ranges.Step 6http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/939/setupparameterstrial2.th.png (http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/939/setupparameterstrial2.png)Step 7— Hit that Target Time. Load the game. Sweet Scent a Pokémon. Catch it. Calculate IV Ranges. Enter the IV Ranges. Click Search.
— Note the Actual Second and Timer0 value again. Repeat this capture process 1-5 more tries until you find your most common Timer0 value.
— In this example, on my second try, I get Actual Seconds 26 and Timer0 Value C7C. On my third try, I get a Timer0 value of C7D. I'll be using C7C as it is my more common Timer0 Value. You CANNOT control your Timer0 Value.Step 7http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/4390/setupparameterstrial2iv.th.png (http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/4390/setupparameterstrial2iv.png)

[a id]troubleshooting[/a id]What the heck does all of this mean, blade???
— The basic 5th Generation RNG process is: By using your DS's unique parameters, the RNG Reporter will find suitable shiny/IV Target Spreads. You will attempt to hit the Target Time of this Target Spread.
— "Unique?" You MUST use the exact DS system, game file, and its parameters when you are searching for shiny/IV spreads. Changing your DS system or Pokémon version will give you errors. If you have multiple DS systems, they will have different parameters. However, you do not have to find your parameters again if you do a new game.
— "My DS Parameters...." Keep your MAC Address and Timer0 values stored safely either in RNG Reporter, notepad/word, or a forum post/message.
— "Timer0 Values" They should be adjacent, or nearby. DS Original/Lite average Timer0 values in order: C7A, C7B, C7C, C7D, C7E, C7F, C80, C81, C82 and so on.
— "Held Buttons?" Known as Keypresses. More keypresses = More results = more time searching for spreads. You will have the option of searching target spreads with no held buttons and target spreads requiring 1, 2, and up to 3 button combinations. I like to search 1 or 2 Keypresses.
— [a id]Actual Second[/a id]"Target Time..?" Notice the differential of 1 second? When I had hit a Target Second of 25, I got an Actual Second of 26. This means that when you are attempting to hit Target Times, you will click the A button 1 second before your Target Time to make up for this 1 second delay (for 3DS, this will be 8 seconds).
— For example, some flawless spread is at October 12th, 15:26:58. I set my DS clock to 15:26:00 and will click A at 15:26:57. This allows me to hit 15:26:58.

I am not getting any results...
— Make sure that you are hitting the correct military time.
— Make sure that you are not holding any buttons when loading the Pokémon game. After clicking A, allow the white screen and Pokémon Company, Nintendo message to play. You may begin pressing any buttons as soon as the shooting stars / Gamefreak logo plays.
— You do not have to button mash and you should not be. Just hit the target time and normally enter the game world.
— Make sure that you are not turning on the C-Gear or activating Wi-Fi.
— Make sure that you were saved in an area with wild Pokémon (e.g. Victory Road).
— Make sure that you were saved with a prepared party (e.g. Sweet Scenter). Do NOT withdraw party members.
— Make sure you are not walking around. Use Sweet Scent ASAP.
— Make sure you are not attempting RNG abuse while charging the DS.
— Make sure you are using the same DS and Pokémon version you used to obtain your MAC address and DS Parameters.
— Check everything entered in RNG Reporter. The Pokémon version, the language, the MAC address.
— Widen your parameter search range and/or redo your parameter search.
— If all else fails, explain your procedure and problems.

[a id]dsi[/a id]I am using a DSi (XL) / 3DS...
— This guide is made where I use the original DS system. If you're using a DSi/3DS, you will find different parameters than those in the the Finding Your DS Parameters steps. Despite this change, the overall RNG abusing procedure is the same for any DS system. Be aware of this as you move on to the Capturing and Hatching steps below.
— [a id]clock[/a id]Unlike the DS Original/Lite, the DSi and 3DS do NOT have a clear seconds reading. You will have to synchronize your system's clock with an external clock with a clear seconds reading (e.g. your computer's clock). *Tip* Change DSi/3DS time when your computer clock hits :00 seconds. Then, follow your computer clock. This is an easy way to synchronize clocks but also not mess up your computer's time by much.
— Here are average parameters to help you better judge if you are on the right path. Remember, use the parameters YOU find. Big thanks to chiizu (http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3976513&postcount=824) for this research.
— Actual Second— DSi: takes 1 second to load. Therefore, you need to start 1 second ahead of your target time. Note that some may find actual seconds of 2 or 3. Find your own actual second.
— DSi XL: When the external clock is 00 Seconds and you hit SET, the clock doesn't actually SET it for 1-2 seconds. You should leave an extra minute to observe the 00 rollover on the DSi XL to make sure you hit the seed properly.
— 3DS: takes 8 seconds to load. Therefore, you need to start 8 seconds ahead of your target time. — Parameters
— JP Black on JP DSi: Timer0: 1237, 1238 || VCount: 8C || VFrame: 9
— JP White on JP DSi and JP 3DS: Timer0: 1232, 1233, 1234 || VCount: 8C || VFrame: 9
— EN White on JP DSi: Timer0: 125F, 1260 || VCount: 8D || VFrame: 8
— EN White on US DSi: Timer0: 12BB || VCount: 90 || VFrame: 8
— EN White (different cartridge) on EU 3DS: Timer0: 12BB || VCount: 90 || VFrame: 8
— EN Black on US DSi: Timer0: 123C || VCount: 8C || VFrame: 8

[a id]capture[/a id]Capturing Flawless Shiny Pokémon
Click on the thumbnails on the right for additional guidance!Images
Colors match!Step 1— If you just found your DS Parameters, you can click on the "Use Result in Time Finder" button. If not, retrieve your DS Parameters from wherever you saved them.
— Enter your entire MAC Address, Version+language, and DS Type. Don't check Soft Reset.
— Choose your preference for the Keypresses. Click the bubble if your L/R buttons don't work.
— If you found one Timer0 value, input that in twice.
— If you found two Timer0 values, input your Timer0 Minimum and Timer0 Maximum.
— The other settings should be the default, which vary from person to person.
— Use the DS parameters YOU found. Don't necessarily use mine.Step 1http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/3783/93newcaptureshinystep1.th.png (http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/3783/93newcaptureshinystep1.png)Step 2— Go to Capture tab. Customize Year and Month. Make Min/Max Frame as 1.
— Change Method to Gen 5 IVs (Standard Seed) and Encounter Type as Wild Pokémon. Leave Encounter Slot as Any.
— Customize IV ranges.
— Note: If you are attempting to catch a shiny flawless Stationary legend (Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Kyurem, Volcarona), you should use Encounter Type Stationary Pokémon instead of Wild Pokémon. Step 2http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/6386/93newcaptureshinystep2.th.png (http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/6386/93newcaptureshinystep2.png)Step 3— If your desired Pokémon can have 2 abilities, specify Ability. Use RNG Reporter's built in Pokédex (on a tab on the main menu) to determine if an Ability is 0 or 1.
— You may specify Nature. Do use a Synchronized Nature of some sort. Synchonizing a nature will greatly improve your odds of finding a good nature shiny. You may check this box: Synchronize Frames Only. Based on my experiences, the Any / Synch / Only setup will net me plenty of available shiny spreads.
— Enter ID/SID. Check the box Search for Nearby Shiny Frame. Enter 300 as Max Shiny Offset. Check the box Use True Minimum Frame. Step 3http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/672/93newcaptureshinystep3.th.png (http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/672/93newcaptureshinystep3.png)Step 4— Click Generate. You may have to wait several moments until RNG Reporter finds results. If you are very specific, this search can last for several hours
— Examine the Nearby Shiny column. The higher the nearby shiny frame, the more time it will take to advance to it. I prefer shiny frames under 150, but I am willing to go up to 300.
— Examine the Encounter Slot column. Certain shiny spreads will only have you encounter certain Pokémon. To determine what Pokémon appears on what Encounter Slot, click to see the tables, which are also available from RNG Reporter's main window in the 5th Gen Tools tab: Pokémon White Encounter Slots (http://www.eggmove.com/encounterwhite.html) | Black Encounter Slots (http://www.eggmove.com/encounterblack.html).
Step 4http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/1690/93newcaptureshinystep4.th.png (http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/1690/93newcaptureshinystep4.png)Step 5— Examine the Date/Time Column. A good second is between 15 to 59. Any second between 0-14 is possible to hit, but time consuming (you have to adjust your DS clock to a whole minute before the Target Time, wait for it to roll over a minute, and then press A 1 second before your Target Second).
— Examine the Keypress column. If you searched for 1, 2, or 3 Keypresses, remember to simultaneously press and hold ALL these buttons properly. Although using No Keypress is easier, you will find fewer available spreads.
— Pick a good seed you can work with. Highlight its row, right click, and click Copy Seed to Clipboard.Step 5http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/9577/93newcaptureshinystep5.th.png (http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/9577/93newcaptureshinystep5.png)Step 6— Minimize the Time Finder window. Return to the main window of RNG Reporter.
— From the dropdown menu, change Method to Gen 5 PIDRNG. Change Encounter Type to Wild Pokémon. Enter your Synch Nature. Enter your ID and SID
— Change Max Results to 300. Copy Paste your Full Seed into Seed(Hex).
— If your Tornadus/Thundurus is roaming the Unova region, check the box. Click Calculate Initial PIDRNG Frame. It will update the Starting Frame box. Step 6http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/540/93newcaptureshinystep6.th.png (http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/540/93newcaptureshinystep6.png)Step 7— Click Generate. You can scroll down the generated table until you see and verify that your shiny frame is on this seed (a !!! indicates shiny).
— Save in the location of your desired target with a prepared party of 5 Pokémon or less: Synchronizer in the front, Chattering Chatot, Sweet Scenter, and ideally something to easily capture the target with (e.g. False Swipe or Sleep inducing moves).
— Get your Seed's Date, Time, and any Keypresses (if you have any). These next steps will be a lot like finding your DS Parameters. Do click on the image for this step to see how I've gathered everything from Time Finder (steps 4 and 5) for the Seed I picked, HP Fire. Step 7http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/6624/93newcaptureshinystep7.th.png (http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/6624/93newcaptureshinystep7.png)Step 8— In this example, my Target Date is Dec. 4th, 2011. My Target Time is 13:55:14. I have Keypresses Select and Left.
— Change the DS Clock to Seed's Target Date /Time. In this example, I change the date to Dec. 2 and 13:55:00
— In this example, my Target Second is 14. If you recall how we found a differential of 1 second, I will be pressing A at the DS main menu at this moment: 13:55:13, or the moment the DS clock's second hand hits 13 seconds. You do a similar process.
— As soon as you press A, press and hold all of your Keypress buttons, if your seed requires them. Hold them until you get completely past the until the white "Pokémon Company, Nintendo" message. If you don't have Keypresses, press nothing until after this white message. Continue your file. Do NOT launch C-Gear. Step 8http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/6624/93newcaptureshinystep7.th.png (http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/6624/93newcaptureshinystep7.png)Step 9— Upon entering the game world, immediately press X to pause and access the menu. Open your party. Use Sweet Scent. Catch that Pokémon. Check its IVs with an IV Calculator. If the IVs match that of your Target Frame (in this example, mine should match HP Fire), look for a match on the table.
— Consider looking at the Pokémon's nature, gender, ability, and species (encounter slots). The Pokémon should be 1-10 frames within your Starting Frame.
— If the Pokémon's IVs did not match, reset and retry hitting your Target Time.
— Do NOT save during this process. Step 9http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/9218/93newcaptureshinystep9.th.png (http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/9218/93newcaptureshinystep9.png)Step 10— If you find a match, note what frame number it is on. This is the Shifted Frame. Wandering trainers on the route have slightly shifted your PID Frame.
— Note: If you were in an area where there were no trainers, such as Lostlorn Forest, then you will not have a Shifted Frame. Your match would be the Starting Frame, assuming you hit your Seed / got your desired IVs.
— Target Frame minus Shifted Frame. In this example, I caught a Quirky Pokémon, which is Frame 47. I need to advance to Frame 225. Frame 225 - Frame 47 = 178 Chatter Advancements. Step 10http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/9218/93newcaptureshinystep9.th.png (http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/9218/93newcaptureshinystep9.png)Step 11— Turn off your DS. Turn it back on. Change the DS clock back to your Target Time. In this example, I change it back again to 17:22:00. Press A 1 second before your Target Second. In this example, I again hit A at 13 seconds. I do my 2 Keypresses (Select and Left) at this moment until the white message clears.
— You're basically doing step 8 and 9 again. Continue file; don't activate C-Gear. However, instead of immediately using Sweet Scent, immediately press X to pause and open your party. Go the the Chatot. View its summary. Every time you hear Chatot's custom Chatter, the PIDRNG Frame is advanced by 1.
— Do your calculated Chatter advancements now. In this example, I calculated that I must listen to its cry 178 times. Once you're finished with your Chatter advancements, then use Sweet Scent.
— The wild Pokémon should be shiny with your desired IVs. If not, turn off the DS and attempt to hit your Target Time again. Step 11http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/9218/93newcaptureshinystep9.th.png (http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/9218/93newcaptureshinystep9.png)

Click on the thumbnails on the right for additional guidance!Images
Colors match!Step 1— Gather good/flawless daycare parents and an Everstone. Know IVs of parents.
— Give Everstone to the parent with a desirable natue. Do NOT give Power Items to the parents. Deposit them into the Daycare and ride around on your bike until they produce an egg.
— Have a party of 5 or less Pokémon, including helpful Pokémon: Chattering Chatot, Quick Egg Hatcher, Flier. Optional: Sweet Scenter.
— Save your game directly in front of the Day-Care Old Man.
— Open the RNG Reporter.
— Click the Time Finder button. Step 1http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/5778/setupstep1.th.png (http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/5778/setupstep1.png)Step 2— Enter your entire MAC Address, Version+language, and DS Type. Don't check Soft Reset.
— Choose your preference for the Keypresses. Click the Skip L\R Buttons box if your L\R buttons don't work.
— If you found one Timer0 value, input that in twice.
— If you found two Timer0 values, input your Timer0 Minimum and Timer0 Maximum.
— The other settings should be the default, which vary from person to person.
— Use the DS parameters YOU found. Don't necessarily use mine.Step 2http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/3783/93newcaptureshinystep1.th.png (http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/3783/93newcaptureshinystep1.png)Step 3— Go to the 4th/5th Gen Shiny Egg tab.
— Change Breeding Type to Black/White. Change Everstone into desirable nature. If you're using international parents, then select BW (international). Using international parents will increase your shiny odds.
— Customize Year and Month. Enter Min/Max Frame as 45 to 250. Don't check Use True Minimum Frame.
— Update other checkboxes (if Ditto is a parent, Show offspring's inheritance, or shiny only) as desired.
— Check Shiny Only box if you are going for Shiny Pokémon. Step 3http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/1900/93newhatchshinystep3.th.png (http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/1900/93newhatchshinystep3.png)Step 4— Customize Nature, Ability, and Gender Ratio. Use Serebii.net to look up a Pokémon's Gender Ratio. Check Dream World Ability Only if desired. To pass Dream World abilities, the female must have the DW ability and neither parent can be Ditto. Enter your game's ID and SID.
— Use RNG Reporter's built-in Pokedex-IV Checker to check what ability is 0 and 1 for Pokémon with 2 abilities. For example, Solosis's Magic Guard is ability 1.
— Enter IVs of the Parent Pokémon.
— Ditto acts as the opposite gender of the other parent or if genderless breeding, Ditto acts as the female parent.
— Customize IV ranges. Step 4http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/9909/93newhatchshinystep4.th.png (http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/9909/93newhatchshinystep4.png)Step 5— Click Generate. You may have to wait several moments until RNG Reporter finds results.
— Examine the Frame column. A good frame number is between 55-100. Anything between 40-55 and 100-250 may be difficult or tedious to hit. Anything under 40 is impossible to hit. I made the criteria 45-250 so you are better aware of this.
— Examine the Date/Time Column. A good second is between 15 to 59. Any second between 0-14 is possible to hit, but time consuming (you have to adjust your DS clock to a whole minute before the Target Time, wait for it to roll over a minute, and then press A).
— Examine the Keypress column. If you searched for 1, 2, or 3 Keypresses, remember to press and hold these buttons properly. Although using No Keypress is easier, you may find fewer available spreads. Step 5http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/2696/93newhatchshinystep5.th.png (http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/2696/93newhatchshinystep5.png)Step 6— Pick a good seed you can work with. Highlight its row, right click, and Copy Seed to Clipboard.
— Minimize the Time Finder window. Return to the main window of RNG Reporter.
— From the dropdown menu, change Method to Breeding (BW). If you're using international breeding, just change Method to Breeding (BW, International).
— Change Max Results to 250. Copy Paste your Full Seed into Seed(Hex).
— If your Tornadus/Thundurus is roaming the Unova region, check the box. Click Calculate Initial PIDRNG Frame. It will update the Starting Frame box.
— Enter your ID and SID.
Step 6http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/4779/93newhatchshinystep6.th.png (http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/4779/93newhatchshinystep6.png)Step 7— Click Generate. Highlight any row, right click, click Display Parents in Search.
— Enter IVs of Female Parent & Male Parent. Click the Get IVs from IVRNG (Frame 8).
— If done correctly, RNG Reporter will show the IVs and Characteristic of the baby Pokémon.
— Scroll down on the table and verify your shiny frame is on this seed (a !!! indicates shiny). In this example, hitting Frame 78 will give us a shiny Timid flawless.
Step 7http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/1815/93newhatchshinystep7.th.png (http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/1815/93newhatchshinystep7.png)Step 8— Get your Seed's Date, Time, and any Keypresses (as shown in step 5). In this example, I use Seed 0EB92FB3CBE49287, which has Target Date of Dec. 3rd, 2011 and Target Time 13:43:33. I have no Keypresses.
— Change the DS Clock to Seed's Target Date /Time. In this example, I change the date to Dec. 3rd and 13:43:00.
— In this example, my Target Second is 33. If you recall how we found a differential of 1 second, I will be pressing A at the DS main menu at this moment: 13:43:32, or the moment the DS clock's second hand hits 32 seconds.
— As soon as you click A, if applicable, press and hold your Keypress combination if you need to. Hold them until you get completely past the until the white "Pokémon Company, Nintendo" message. If you don't have Keypresses, press nothing until after this white message. Continue your file. Do NOT launch C-Gear. Step 8http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/2696/93newhatchshinystep5.th.png (http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/2696/93newhatchshinystep5.png)Step 9— Immediately interact with the Daycare Man and collect the egg. You should have been saved in front of the Daycare Man with your prepared party (of 5 or less Pokémon). Hatch the egg. Do not save during this process.
— Take note of the baby's nature, gender, ability, and characteristics. Take it to the IV judge in the Battle Subway to check its IVs (available after you beat the game).
— Match the baby's nature, gender, ability, and characteristic on the table. If you find a match, note what frame number it is on. This is the Shifted Frame. Wandering trainers on Route 3 have slightly shifted your PID Frame.
— Target Frame minus Shifted Frame. In this example, I had hatched a Relaxed Pokémon, which is Frame 50. I need to advance to Frame 78. Frame 78 - Frame 50 = 28 Chatter Advancements.
— If you did not find a match on the table, reset and repeat hitting your Target Time until you find a match. Step 9http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2839/93newhatchshinystep9.th.png (http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2839/93newhatchshinystep9.png)Step 10— Turn off your DS. Turn it back on. Change the DS clock back to your Target Time. In this example, I change it back again to 13:43:00. Press A 1 second before your Target Second. In this example, I again hit A at 32 seconds. I do no Keypresses at this moment.
— You're basically doing step 8 and 9 again. Continue file; don't activate C-Gear. However, instead of immediately collecting the egg from the Daycare Man, immediately press X to pause and open your party. Go the the Chatot. View its summary. Every time you hear Chatot's custom Chatter, the PIDRNG Frame is advanced by 1.
— Do your calculated Chatter advancements now. In this example, I calculated that I must listen to its cry 20 times. Exit party and immediately collect the egg.
— Hatch the egg. It should hatch into a Shiny. If it did not, reset and try again. Step 10http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2839/93newhatchshinystep9.th.png (http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2839/93newhatchshinystep9.png)Step 11: Optional Shortcut— Let's say that you have a really troublesome Pokémon to hatch, like Dratini or Larvesta. Upon completing your Chatter advancements, immediately collect the egg. Fly to the Pokémon League. Go to Victory Road and immediately enter a wild Pokémon battle (either by using Sweet Scent or turning your character in place). Catch it and find its approximate IVs.
— Go back to RNG Reporter's Main Menu. From the dropdown menu, change Method to Gen 5 IVs (Standard Seed). Change Starting Frame to 1. Click Generate.
— Look at Frames 14-20. If the caught Pokémon has roughly matching IVs on the table, you have successfully hit your seed. If there is no match, your egg will not be shiny flawless, but this saves you from hatching the wrong one.Step 11http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/8946/93newhatchshinystep11.th.png (http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/8946/93newhatchshinystep11.png)

My favorite RNG from 2012 was Gonzo's first headbutt RNGs. They are really awesome and I still don't know how to do them. xD

It's not 2013 here yet D: Anyway, to answer the topic..........hard choice :/
I'll go with my first bred RNG, an Eevee! Obvious choice right? But when the egg hatched and it was a shiny Eevee, I literally jumped up yelling.lol Definitely the highlight of my RNGing career. :D

Why refer to RNG Reporter as "Nasty"? Following step by step it was reletively easy to learn, and is such an amazing tool. There is only one thing I would wish it to do which it doesn't... and that is search for seeds based on Hidden Power.

PPRNG is clearly better. It's more stable, more user friendly, much faster and uses less prcessor and ram.

It also treat two arrow buttons (like down+left) as a one keypress meaning you get more seeds (two arrows + two other buttons).

Oh, wow -- I didn't know I could technically have four keypresses. xD That's awesome! I knew it registered down-left as one keypress (since it technically is), but I didn't know we could have another! Nice.

Doing a happy dance! Happy Dance! Happy Dance!!!!!!!!

I just did my first Gen III Abuse! *Happy Dance Continues*

It's not the most impressive spread, but that's partially because I wanted something under one minute so that it would be much quicker to learn this. I decided I would simply look for a Ditto with a perfect speed. I only had one sychronizer in all my PC Boxes so I was stuck with one Niave as a choice to use... but after all this was practice. So Synchronizer in the lead, sweat scenter at my ready... and Eon timer. First two tries, I got the right spread, right nature, but wrong encounter slot(Wishmur both times). Third try I land the one I was aiming for! Felt so awsome! I don't think anything has been more enjoyable to RNG since my first RNG project ever!

That said... I'm now looking for shiny spreads(I dont need perfect ones... especially not yet while I'm just barely starting to dable in Gen III abuses). Each time I try to search RNG reporter thinks a while then freezes up and crashes. WHat could I be doing wrong? Do I need to know what nature my synchronizer will be before I search? I think I'm going to need to just breed Abra all day to find ones with different natures and the synchronize ability.... and right now I'm only working on capture projects in Gen III.... I'm not ready to jump head first into breeding yet. (If I even jump into it at all).

My favorite RNGs of 2012...first I'll start with mine. I learned how to RNG last year, and it was amazing! The wonderful TwilightBlade and Mac (of York...at the time!) helped me. :) My favorite RNG was definitely my shiny Umbreon, Midnight. I'm also proud of all my Pokemon that won the RNG challenges in a row...it was like 3 or 4 in a row I think? Haha.

My favorite RNGs that I got last year were probably Mac's shiny Umbreon, named Minuit, which was hatched on my birthday. :D And vaporeon7's fabulous Remoraid he gave me in the Mystery Gift event. Oh, and the crazy Zigzagoon request that Mac did for me. XD The one with Whirlpool. ;3

I LOVE ALL OF GONZBR0'S RNGS LIKE HIS SHINY LATIOS AND HIS FRENCH STUFF. :)

Hopefully I can get back in the swing of things this year!

On-topic before Mac kicks me out of here...

My favorite RNG of 2012 was my Imposter Ditto. It took a lot to find it there and when I got it, I was really proud of myself. Ditto is my favorite Pokemon especially when I was playing TCG. I had a Ditto card with a similar Ability, then ever since I played R/S/E, I wished Ditto's ability would be like that. I am so glad DW made Ditto more awesomeeeee.

Okay I got my laptop back so I can RNG again!

My favourite RNG abuse from 2012 would either have to be my first 4th gen RNG, the Moltres in my SS that Gonzo helped me RNG. It took a while, but I finally got it. Or maybe the Vaporeon (oh well Eevee) that I RNGed for a challenge. Just because it's my favourite Pokémon.

So I have a quick question about RNG. I'd mainly be RNG'ing for shinies. Is the only way to get my SID through a legit shiny (which sadly i have no luck so i dont have one) or through AR? I believe I understand how to RNG beyond that though.

You can look up your SID if you upload a Pokemon to Pokecheck.org. A guide on how to do this can be found here (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=270306). It's the PokeCommunity Hack report thread, but it's also where our Pokecheck guide is. Just scroll down and you'll see instructions about how to do it.

Oh thanks for pointing that out. I'm going to give that a shot now :)

Edit: So it turns out my ISP is blocking Pokecheck making me unable to upload a poke. Any idea how to make it not block pokecheck?

Sorry, I don't know much about that kind of stuff. Perhaps you could ask over at the Technology and the Internet (http://www.pokecommunity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=57) forums.

Hmm...iirc that's something you'd have to take up with your ISP directly. I know we've had another member with the same issue. If not, follow tabor's advice.

Okay, sorry if this is really stupid... but does RNG work with both Black and Black 2? I haven't RNG'd since Platinum version, but I was wanting to RNG a few shiny or good IV'd Pokemon through breeding. I read somewhere that it wasn't possible to use hatching RNG's in Black 2. So do I have to use Black version to do this? Also, do you always have to reload the game after you set the clock the first time? Or was that to provide a better example?

You can RNG in both, however it is far easier to RNG in Black, Timer0 trolls so much in Black 2. I'm not sure what you mean by reloading the game after you set the clock the first time though.

So me using a copy of Black 2 to do whatever isn't going to help much?

Because from what I tried, everything went through fine and dandy but no results came up.

Oh and btw I'm on a mac so that's another thing. does ppppppppprng or whatever work just like the other one?

Griffinbane

You can still do capture RNG on B2W2 but not breeding. PPRNG from what I heard is a lot simpler to use than RNG reporter. I don't actually know since I don't have a Mac but that's what I heard... from Mac. Heh!

But my question…why isn't my pprng returning any values? I don't think that's supposed to happen lol

And just to make sure, the IV "range" is the possible IVs, or what?

I use PPRNG and trust me, it's fierce and much better than RNG Reporter. I thought I wasn't gonna like it, but I was wrong.

What do you mean IV range? Perhaps you could screenshot and point out what you're talking about. Do you mean that thing that's automatically at 8? If that's what you're talking about, just leave it at 8 and don't pay attention to it. lol

Definitely true. PPRNG is a superior program and much more intuitive. It just plain runs better as well.. and with the seed cache, finding BW1 egg seeds is so much faster.

You're getting no results when you search for a flawless? Hm. Considering it's wild encounters, I'm sure it's a bit more difficult to find what you're looking for as flawless. I haven't RNG'd BW2 yet and definitely haven't RNG'd a wild encounter with PPRNG since I've had it, but I can tell you that it is more difficult to find a seed for a wild encounter than it would take for an egg.

Maybe change the IV range? What exactly are you trying to RNG anyway? If it's something like Petilil, or anything else that's a special sweeper, try searching "special flawless" and that should get you some results.

1000 results is pretty good though idk why you say that like it's a bad thing! :P

Oh! See that helps a lot haha. I thought you were searching for seeds already.

I myself haven't done parameters on PPRNG yet, so I can't really help much. It's been a long time since I've done them as well. Okay, now that I know it's parameters though, I know what you're talking about with IV range. When you catch that random wild Pokemon, you have to use an IV calculator to figure up its IVs and that's what goes in the IV range thing.

Say I caught a Boldore and used the IV calculator and it came up 1-5 IVs in HP, 24-30 for attack, etc, you put in that range in that IV range area. So I'd put 1 as min and 5 as max in the HP slot, and so on and so forth. That make sense? I have PPRNG open so I can look at it and help more if need be. :)

Oh okay so I was doing it right.

But then I clicked "search" and it completed the search, and it either ends up blank or it gives me an error that says "thin down the IVs you dummy", which is honestly the only two results I can get from it.

For B2W2, you need to do at least ten calibrations due to the multiple timer0s. You then input that information in your configuration.

Hopefully I'm asking in the right place. I just did my parameters and RNG reporter under my profile it says my timer0 min is C7E and my max timer0 is C7E, is there something to be concerned about, or does it just mean I won't get timer0 trolled? I'm using a DS lite and a retail copy of White, if it matters. I had repel on when I did my parameters but I did do Sweet Scent in the last room of Victory Road immediatly after loading the game.

No, that's normal. Did you do the parameters thing a couple of times? What you wanna do is do the parameters and see which timer0 pops up most frequently. The most frequent one is the one you're gonna want to try hitting once you start to RNG.

Don't worry, you won't be trolled too much by t0 in White. Possible t0s you'll be getting is C7E + or - 1 (C7D or C7F, but I haven't seen C7D pop-up yet). Just stick to the t0 that you've been getting most of the time.

Thanks Griffin and Musica, after doing what you guys said I found out it was C7E-C7F, and about 70% of the time I got C7E :) thanks.

Question, how do I find the SID of my game?

The SID can be found in few (reliable) ways. One is to use the Action Replay code for it if you happen to have one. Another way is to upload your Pokemon to Pokecheck.org. The third way is to use a flash cart and PokeGen. If you cannot do any of these, perhaps someone here will be generous enough to help you. You could trade a filler Pokemon caught by that game and they could use it to figure it out for you.

Actually for catching normal Pokemon, it's pretty much the same thing as catching the shiny ones. You just don't check the box marked "look for nearby shiny frames". So when the seeds are generated by RNG Reporter (or PPRNG if that's what you are using), you will get a mix of non-shiny and shiny seeds (though mostly non-shiny of course).

Ok, well my DS does not want to connect to Internet, so I can't use Pokecheck or send someone a filler, my Action Replay does not want to work, so I can't use the code method, and the flash cart method is way too complicated for me. Can anyone please help a fellow member out? For some time I have been trying to RNG with my 3DS XL on Pokemon Black 2. I already connected to pokecheck, already found out my Secret ID, but what got me was finding my Vcount, Timer0, and Vframe. Is RNG'ing on the 3DS XL the same for the normal 3DS? If anyone is already experienced with RNGing on the 3DS XL (or 3DS if its the same), I would be ever so grateful if you could share with me some tips on doing this, including the part when you synchronize your clock with your computer. ._. It's impossible since there are no seconds on the 3DS clock...

Griffinbane

tbh, most of us are not qualified to answer that question. You're dealing with several whammies here: B2W2 is much more difficult to RNG than BW, the part where you have to RNG with some external clock, there's like a 8 second delay when using the 3DS, most of us don't even OWN a 3DS, those that do RNG with their lites...It's just not pretty.

Since you're stuck right there at the beginning of finding parameters, check the first page in this thread and scroll down until you see an RNG abuse guide. That part should be the same.

Don't give up just yet. Just try the easiest one--Standard Seed abuse on Black/White. If you still have Generation IV Games (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Soul Silver, Heart Gold), you can learn RNG Abuse on them for starters. If you have a DS Lite/Original, use that instead. It would be much much easier to RNG Abuse on that for Gen V.

If you still pursue to learn B2W2 abuse first... (Take note that this can apply to BW, too!)

This only covers CALIBRATION PROCESS. If you want to learn more about RNG Abuse, read this (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=7464113&postcount=3). Blade has a very nice guide.

NEEDS:
.NET Framework (Latest for Win Vista/7)
RNG Reporter 9.96.5 Beta
Eon Timer
3DS and a retail copy of Black, White, Black 2, or White 2
Patience x 99999999

1. Get something that can use Sweet Scent (Foongus is very common)
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/590.gif

2. Get a Master ball and a lot of Rare Candies [OPTIONAL, but highly recommended. Do not worry, you won't lose them afterwards]

3. Go to the Pokemon League, go to Victory Road's last floor, save your game.

4. Turn off your 3DS or exit the game.

5. Go to the WiFi settings of your 3DS and look for its MAC Address.

6. Open up RNG Reporter 9.96.5 and look for Profiles Tab on the upper right corner of the window

7. A new window should have opened up this time and look for "New" <-- Click it

8. Enter a Profile Name (Using the name of the version you are playing is fine, or just use whatever you want)

9. Enter ID and SID. If you don't know your SID, just put 0.

10. Look for Find DS Parameters (This is where it will get really tricky)

11. Fill up the blanks on the right side first: Version, Language, DS Type, DS Mac Address. Leave Held Buttons alone.

12. Fill up the Date. For the purposes of this discussion, I will let you do a specific Date/Time combination.

Date: February 25, 2013
Hours: 12
Minutes: 15
Seconds: 30

13. Set your DS' Date to 02-25-2013 (Same as date above)

14. Now open up Eon Timer, make sure 3 tab is chosen

Fill up EonTimer with:

Mode: Standard
Pre-Timer: 30000
Target Frame: 0

14a. Look for the Settings of Eon Timer (lower left corner)

Look for the following settings and change them
Countdown Mode: Audio
Action Color: leave it as is
Sound: Beep (But I prefer Ding)
Action Interval: 500
Action Count: 6

Then click SAVE

15. Change your DS' Time to 12:15, but DO NOT CLICK "OK" YET!

16. This is a bit tricky, but here it goes. Click OK on your 3DS while clicking START on EonTimer. Make sure you do this at the same time!

17. At the end of the timer (the beeps/dings/ticks/pops will help you), you should've pressed A to start the game. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS AFTERWARDS!

18. As soon as you see the intro vid, enter (continue, new game, etc window) the game as fast as you can. DO NOT TURN ON THE C-GEAR!

19. Immediately use Sweet Scent on the field and capture any Pokemon you encounter.

20. Use Metalkid's calculator (http://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/Calculators/IV.aspx) to determine the IVs of your caught Pokemon. To use the calculator is self-explanatory, but to make it clear for you...

20a. You will only fill up
a. Select Pokemon
b. Select Nature
c. Select Characteristic
d. (Scroll down and find Default Level) Change Default Level to the Level of your caught Pokemon, then click Update beside it
e. Now fill-up the blanks for the HP, Att, Def, SpA, SpD, Spe
f. Click Calculate. If the range of your IVs is quite large (i.e., 0-5, 6-10, 11-16, etc), feed the Pokemon a Rare Candy then repeat step e, but this time, on the next row since your Pokemon leveled up. If the IV range is still large (a difference of 5), feed it another rare candy and repeat e to f.

21. After getting the IV range (or exact IVs if possible), enter these data to DS Parameter Finder Window on RNG Reporter. Click SEARCH.

22. If you get a result, then good for you. If not, repeat the process starting on STEP 12.

23. Multiple attempts on Black 2 or White 2 is highly recommended as the Timer0 fluctuates a lot. Find the most common Timer0 you hit and use that on your Profile.

If there are more questions, feel free to ask. I may answer them, but not specifically for 3DS. Mac and/or Gonz0 (if he's here) can help you. I do not own a 3DS, sadly.

I haven't RNG'd in a while. I just haven't felt like it, being so busy with school. I've been playing Silver a lot lately, since my friend replaced the battery for me. I've been busy with the card game too...collecting, anyway. lol

I haven't RNG'd anything for myself in a long time though. Everything I've done in the past month or so was a request or challenge.

Yesterday, I got RNG reporter 831, I know how to use it, but I have no idea what my SID is, how do I figure out what my SID number is?

Let me just quote myself:

The SID can be found in few (reliable) ways. One is to use the Action Replay code for it if you happen to have one. Another way is to upload your Pokemon to Pokecheck.org. The third way is to use a flash cart and PokeGen. If you cannot do any of these, perhaps someone here will be generous enough to help you. You could trade a filler Pokemon caught by that game and they could use it to figure it out for you.

However, for people without access to Wi-Fi or an AR:

There is another way, but it requires you to have caught at least one shiny with the OT that you are trying to find the SID for.

If you need help with that last method, feel free to shoot me a message.

Yes, it is bad, competitively speaking.

Gonzo
April 23rd, 2013, 05:44 AM
It's not that hard when you're used to hitting delays and using eontimer. The most difficult part is lack of reliable in-game sources of verifying your frame, so you either have to use emulator (don't, pls ;__; ) or you have to use some kind of external device. If you don't, you're eff'd. Calibration, PID verifying and then IV veridying process are tedious, really.

Hey guys, quick question. I've been abusing the RNG in Black 2. A couple of days ago I tried to tuck in a Pokemon so I could access the Dream World. However, I was given an error message along the lines of "Game Sync has run out of energy. Please wait 24 hours before syncing again." I assume this is because I've altered my time/date settings for RNG purposes.

I tried accessing the Dream World just now, and I was able to tuck in a Pokemon just fine. I'm curious though...how would I be able to RNG Dream World pokes in the Entree Forest, while preserving my access to Game Sync features? Is there a workaround to the 24-hour waiting period? Or will I just have to bite the bullet and wait longer in-between Dream World sessions?

tabor62
April 23rd, 2013, 08:03 PM
If I recall correctly you'll have to bite the bullet, sorry D: (unless there's a work around that I don't know). I don't Dream World RNG Abuse so I'm not exactly sure. I'm sure a more qualified RNGer will post an answer by the end of tomorrow.

Gonzo
April 23rd, 2013, 09:33 PM
@ Venusawr:

Whenever you change the time and/or date in your console, you have to wait 24 hours before you can tuck in a Pokemon again.

Have you tried keypresses? Choosing them will give you a much bigger selection of seeds to choose from.
http://i.imgur.com/WyYcSvk.png

Keypresses is where you hold certain buttons down right as the game starts up. You hold onto them until the Gamefreak Logo shows up. Depending on how many buttons you are willing to go up to, choose one, two, or three. In addition, some people have broken L and/or R buttons so they cannot do any seeds that require them. If you're one of those people, check the "Skip L/R buttons" box. Hope this helps.

This is for Egg Abuse. I'm not new to RNGing, but I'm not the best at it. Earlier today I RNGed a flawless shiny Snorunt, Vulpix, and Sableye (all the same time and frame) then I tried to use the same time to RNG a Skamory, except I didn't want it to be shiny. So I unchecked the international box, and bred the US Skamory with a US Staraptor. The frame that I used to get the other pokemon slightly changed. (the gender changed to male, and the shininess) Why is it not working for Skamory? I'm advancing the frame 11 times just like I did for the Snorunt, but after trying around 15 times I'm not even coming close to hitting the frame I want because I don't see the natures I am getting are not anywhere near the frame I want. I'm not getting the same thing over and over again either. It's strange. I'll get a Rash nature one, then a Naive one, then a few careful ones(careful being the everstone nature). But I'm not changing the time or changing the number of times I advance the frame. ***I should mention I am using the Quick Egg Hatch code if that means anything, but it worked fine for the first 3.
Thanks for the help in advance! :)

Screenshots can really help, and using AR with RNG is not that great of an idea. It can screw around with the breeding sometimes.

Munchlax11
May 23rd, 2013, 06:53 PM
Well, it hasn't really been a problem until now. I breed the egg, advance the frame, obtain the egg, save the game, then put in the AR, and it usually works fine :/. I've attached screenshots... Forgot to mention I'm using PPRNG instead of RNG Reporter bc I'm on a mac. The first one is what I used to obtain the first 3, then the 2nd is what I used to obtain the Skamory. I'm trying to hit 62.

The box marked "International" is ticked in the first screenshot and not the second one. International parents gives you more options for shinies.

Munchlax11
May 23rd, 2013, 07:58 PM
Yes, I know. I don't want the Skamory to be shiny. In my first post I said I intentionally changed that. But does changing the international box make the number of times I need to advance the frame different?

tabor62
May 23rd, 2013, 08:33 PM
Hmm, I'm not really sure why it does that. Perhaps try searching for a similar seed without having "International" ticked while searching for seeds. It does screw with it though if I recall correctly.

Absol
May 23rd, 2013, 08:38 PM
Yes. Changing International changes everything else. For the Skarmory you'll have to search for a different seed. Finding nonshiny seeds is very easy though so finding another seed won't be a problem.

Just a tip for the rest of Musketeers, kill them, they'll respawn at lvl 65 and they're easier to catch at 65 because of their worse movesets. Weird but true. :)

Hi, I just managed to do my first RNG today(Used PPRNG). The IVs went well, but the problem was the shininess. I checked the "Shiny Only" Box but then the pokemon that appeared wasn't shiny. Did I do anything wrong?

I don't know very well the PPRNG but, aparently you want a wild poke right??? or a stationary, etc

so you just need to dçfocus on hitting your target FRAME wich aparently is 182 and your starting frame is 48 so....
182-48=134 times you need to advance yuor frame

take note that if your want a wild pokes your frame can be dificult since Wondering-NPC mess up your frame if its a legendary o stationary then is quite simple but again the 134 is just a refence
even with a legend for example in my case usually is 5-6frames less so for me would be: 128-129

is just for you to try

I was trying to catch in different places (Victory Road, Dragon Spiral Tower, and Chargestone Cave to be exact) There were no NPCs onscreen every time I tried.

Wandering NPCs don't have to be onscreen to affect your frame, they just have to be in the same room or area.

Oh ok, how do you deal with the NPCs so they won't mess up your frames?

Griffinbane
June 4th, 2013, 05:58 AM
You have to get from one screen to the next in the lowest time possible to minimize the effect the NPCs will have on you. Then you have to determine how many frames they shifted, and adjust for it.

Well, can't really just "deal" with them. You either go to an area without any wandering NPCs, or adjust your frames accordingly like Griff said. Of course you could always be like me and assume your shifted number of frames is two, though you need to be able to be able to quickly get into the menu right when the game starts.

you cant, what happends is that the game always do the same so...
just do it as fast as posible then advance your frame and use sweet scent don´t give the NPC time to move but there is a catch while the animation of the sweet scent NPC moves

just do it a few time catch the poke check if the seed is right and then try to look for your actual frame then adjust and do it again

this is why is anoying you need to try again & again

Black 2 and White 2 are more trolly then Black and White when it comes to hitting your timer0. Also, have you found your parameters for your Black 2 yet? You need your parameters for that game before you can RNG abuse for ID and/or SID. Since I don't use PPRNG I don't know about the encounter slots. Sorry about that >.<

Yes you just have to keep trying until you get it. It'll take a little while longer than it did in Black and White though. For the locations I use an online Pokedex such as Serebii to find the locations for the Pokemon I want and then match it up to encounter slots, although since there aren't any names it's hard to know exactly which one is which. :l

Also, congrats on getting the TID and shiny starter you wanted! :D

So I was fooling around with Cute Charm abuse in 4th Gen. As you may know, I abused my ID/SID to get good shinies and apparently, all Cute Charm seeds have huge amount of shiny frames, so I got what I wanted to get:

I recommend playing with it, because it's so funny when there's a shiny every 5-10 frames. If you don't care about IVs, just the shininess, it's a cool and easy method of obtaining them. You can literally get all pokemon living in a certain area as shinies (unless they're fixed gender/genderless).

try this: http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/

Since you have a laptop, you have a built-in WiFi receiver. You can also use it to send WiFi signal! Just be sure to pick WEP, because DS (Lite) can't connect with WPA, unfortunately.

if this software won't work, try to google something similar, good luck!

Alright so I've started on all this today and I'm struggling to find accurate seeds in PPRNG for Mac. I know they're inaccurate because I try them several times over with the same result.
Is there something I should look for specifically that tells me it's on the right track or am I just really unlucky?

Also what do the Grass/Cave/Surf/Spot numbers represent and do I need to worry about them?

You have to find your parameters using B2W2's parameter search in the program.

Use the calibration method in that post -- it works great and is quite fast.

The time it takes to find a seed depends on what you're searching for. The more specific the seed you're looking for, the longer it'll take usually. If you're searching for a shiny flawless capture for example, it could take days to find a seed. D: On the other hand, if you're using flawless international parents for breeding and search for a shiny flawless seed, you should find plenty of seeds easily. All depends on what you're going for.

And for what I've been RNGing recently... finally decided to give 4th Gen another go for ID abuse. Took awhile but I managed to RNG HeartGold to get the ID/SID combo I wanted for shiny HP Grass Timid/Modest for the 3 legendary birds \o/

Ugh, so I'm having some serious troubles breeding guys, please help :3.

Okay so what I want is a non-shiny, male, Timid/Modest Riolu with Inner Focus, HP Ice 70 and max special sweeper IVs. Corresponding with HP Ice 70 that would be 31/30/30/31/31/31 I have worked out (Manually because PPRNG crashes when I try searching for HP).

What I am working with is a male Lucario 29/22/8/13/28/31 and a shiny ditto 31/31/31/30/31/31. And no Everstone.

This is the seed I'm going for:
http://i43.tinypic.com/ic95p4.png

Now, when I'm hatching an egg to check for my shifted frame I get the highlighted offspring as a result no problem:
http://i42.tinypic.com/fnbx9j.png

But when I'm using my Chatot's to shift the frame over 31 times I hatch an egg that isn't even on the list of nearby frames.
Suggestions please I've been doing this for days!

All I can think of is that when you try again you're being timer0 trolled. Are you absolutely sure you're hitting the right seed every time? Here's a way to check if you hit your seed when RNG breeding:
(Copied from TwilightBlade's RNG Guide located here: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?p=7464113#7464113)
step 11: optional shortcut
— Let's say that you have a really troublesome Pokémon to hatch, like Dratini or Larvesta.
If there is no match, your egg will not be shiny flawless, but this saves you from hatching the wrong one.

This has helped me to know whether I was being timer0 trolled or if it was something else that wasn't working. It's also saved me time form hatching the wrong egg when I didn't hit my timer0. Hope this helps. ^^
Just passing the time waiting for a shiny flawless seed and was wondering if anyone knew of a good bw entralink rng guide and a 4rth gen cute charm method rng guide. I found an Entralink RNG Guide, but since Smogon is down, so is the guide. I'm positive I'm hitting the right seed, what can I do if I am being timer0 tolled? And I didn't think that was something that is an issue.

Sometimes it's an issue and sometimes it isn't. You can try hitting the second at different times. If you're pressing A late in the second, you can try pressing A sooner for the same second. I've been doing that and usually I hit my seed no problem when I'm having trouble hitting my timer0. I'm not sure if I explained that right though. >.<

I agree with Iloveeevee. Something similar just happened to me recently while rng'ing a marill. If I pressed A immediately I would get a completely different result then if I hit A later.

I wanted to go back to working on my collection of Dream World Pokemon in DreamBalls.... but it's been a few months since I was RNGing them. Does anyone know where there is a guide I can reference to get a refresher? I remember B/W is a lot like Gen IV hitting a delay, and that B2/W2 was "easier" although my Timer0 kept trolling me....

But with Smogon still down, and as near as anyone can tell it's going to be a while... I can't seem to find any other guides on Entralink RNGing. Does anyone have a guide somewhere they can share?

Strangely the link is to a thread on the forum, and I would think that would not be on the wayback machine... but apparently it is, maybe closed threads are? Morning All:

I had a recent experience I wanted to share, the following Pokemon are not available for trade, due mostly to the fact that they should be considered hacked. I asked Mac if it was ok before posting about this, due to the nature of using a cheat.

I really wanted to have a shiny Mew, which as we all know is impossible (not impossible, but the only legitimate shiny Mew would be one captured on Faraway Island in Emerald, which required the Old Sea Map, and that was only released as an event in Japan).

On my North American Emerald I started by using a gameshark to unlock the Old Sea Map. I had actually done this a long time ago, and captured a Mew. So, now not only did I need the Old Sea Map, but I needed a "Re-Battle Legendary" code. Please keep in mind that the rest of my tale involves that I used those codes.

Mew, like all legendaries in Emerald is generated via Method-1. If you do not know, Method-1 is not effected by Synchronize. So, you have to hit your seed exact.

To make matters worse, each legendary is going to offer you a slightly different shifted frame. If you are going on a quest to get all your Emeral legendaries as shiny, you need to re-calibrate for each one. I stood on Faraway Island, and entered Battle with Mew over a dozen times, just trying to calibrate for which frame I was hitting. I threw my master ball each time, as all I was attempting to do was calibrate. I actually found one during my calibration attempt that had two perfect IV's, which I ended up deciding to keep.

http://sprites.pokecheck.org/icon/151.pnghttp://www.pokecheck.org/i/notshiny.png #151 Mew (http://www.pokecheck.org/?pk=5023696) ♁ (level 30) http://www.pokecheck.org/i/itm/001.png
OT: http://www.pokecheck.org/i/lang/2.png RINGO ♂ (Emerald, 49191/51162)
Brave - Synchronize - 10/31/31/11/23/11 - Untrained
Pound - Transform - Mega Punch - Metronome

My shiny frame I was attempting was only about 20 seconds in for me (Lucky me). Which meant that once I was done calibrating I was able to go right to work attempting the actual capture.

The fun began:
I tried for two hours. Resetting. Watching the timer. When I didn't face a shiny I reset again. About every tenth attempt I would capture again to verify that I was close to my seed. Each time I was within 10 frames of my desired frame. Close enough to not mess with the settings in Eon Timer.

I take a break for the night. Next day, an hour into trying, and checking what frame I hit I get my shiny frame. I wanted my Mew to be in a Premier ball, my favorite, and also for the challenge. I knock Mew down to 1hp with my false swiper, and start trying to capture. Eventually, Mew knocks itself out with struggle. *cry*.

Two more tries later, I hit the frame again. I false swiper to 1, I keep trying to put mew to sleep, but it won't stay asleep. I keep throwing premier balls. Finally, on my last premier ball I capture it. *whew*

Now, here is where I have found what I believe to be an oddity. My first Mew above passed legality analysis:
https://www.pokecheck.org/?screenshot=5023696&la

However, the Shiny Mew, it DOES flag as a hack on the legality analysis. Reason stated as English Mew can not be shiny:
https://www.pokecheck.org/?screenshot=5023707&la

I am curious if anyone knows why this situation exists? Is it because the location met is flagged in Gen IV as "Pal Park" instead of "Faraway Island"? I would assume ANY Gen III Mew caught on Faraway Island should flag as hacked on an English Emerald... but if the location met is no longer Faraway Island, is Pokecheck now assuming that my Mew was an event Mew from that Generation?

Method-1 was VERY tedious. I would say more tedious than Gen IV delays. It WAS however well worth it, as the personal satisfaction of now owning a Pokemon I really wanted, and REALLY had to work for all the same is now in my pocession. (Not Only that, I cloned it on Emerald before sending to PalPark... I have every intention of getting as many Gen III ribbons on it as I can... This is going to be one special Mew when I am done.) I DO have every intention of completing more Gen III Legendaries now that I have done this once. I think Deoxys may be my next capture project. But I wonder what Shiny spread available to me I should aim for... There is a Calm Shiny spread about 45 minutes in for me, which has all states accept Speed above 20 (the speed is at only 4). As I don't competitively battle I don't typically aim for super perfect spreads, so maybe this is where I should aim on this one?

Would love to hear some feedback on my Mew experience... and if anyone wants to help me pick which shiny spread on my Emerald to aim for on my Deoxys, I would appreciate any suggestions.(ID: 49191 / SID: 51162). I have no intention of restarting my Emerald to be able to RNG my ID/SID for a specific spread. I have over 250 hours on that save file (and all my Pokeboxes are close to full)... I used to chain breed for super strong Pokemon before I knew how to RNG, and I can't justify killing that progress or going and buying another Emerald either. All my future Legendary RNG projects in Gen III will have to be on that save file. (For that matter, I have yet to capture the trio of Reggi's on Emerald, and should RNG those if I have the patience, so anyone who feels like helping me with suggestions on spreads to aim for that would be super appreciated as well).

Thanks for letting me share this experience with you all. I hope my experience can help you decide if Method-1 Gen III is for you or not. That resetting can be a major pain, but I think it was well worth it for the trophy. It may not be worth if for everyone though. Also, as Gen III is becoming such a source of fun for me, I would be happy to advise anyone looking to do Gen III captures (I am not yet good at RNGing eggs in Gen III, captures only).

Cheers,
Ringo

One thing before I explain the Mew thing with Pokecheck, we can't see the legality analyses for those two. Now the thing with Mew, is that the recognize English Faraway Island Mews as legit because of an oversight on their part. Quite a simple explanation if you think about it, though I'm too lazy to ask them about, plus they're mean ;.;

I think it must be more than an oversight. There must be a reason. I think it probably can not tell the difference between a Faraway Island Mew, and an event Mew from Gen III. Only the Faraway Island can be shiny. But I am too afraid to ask them, as like you say "they are mean." I assume part of their answer is going to involve that I know the Mew is hacked. I didn't do this capture to try to trade and pass off as legit, so I don't need anyone there jumping down my throat.

I wonder why you can't see the legality analysis. Did I need to do something other than copy the link?

Thanks for sharing, Ringo. That's definitely an oversight on their part and would need to be taken up with them, but good luck. I think they have a thread on project pokemon if you want to post your experience there and the results from Pokecheck. Nice trophies, though. I have a HoO Arceus myself so I understand wanting to have an unobtainable trophy. :-)

I will consider bringing it to their attention... But do you have any clue on what I am doing wrong when I try to share my legality anyalsis with you?

One of these days I will get around to my HoO Arceus too. It is rather sad to me that they never released the flute legitematly. My next Gen IV project though I think will be a shiny Manaphy. Sticking to my Gen III Legends, and some more Dream World Pokemon for now though.

Too hot to be outside... Got to work on my Dream World RNG's on my Black. Still have a few left to do, but here's the first five. I have way too many waiting on my White, so getting to work on White next.

I have successfully RNG'ed standard seed mons before, but could someone help me with this one?
I'm attempting to RNG an Excadrill on White. On the Time Finder Settings I've chosen Standard Seed > Cave Spot Pokémon and got my Seed.
On the main window, PIDRNG > Wild Pokémon (Cave Spot), and found my results.

Now, how should I generate the dust clouds? Should I chatot-advance up to my desired result, and try to get the cloud to appear in less than 20 steps?
Please tell me if I did anything wrong.

Any help is appreciated

Yes, we are but it can cause a lot of debate. If you want help finding your parameters you are on your own.

Two questions. 1. Will most of the RNG tips apply to non shinies. I dont need shinies I just wanted flawless ones? 2. How do i set up a profile?

Yes, RNG can work for non-shiny too. And just open the RNG Reporter profiles and enter your information and hit save. :3

Do you guys prefer to RNG for shiny or non-shiny Pokémon?

I personally prefer non-shiny. First off it's a lot easier and takes much less time, but also because having too many shinies seems kind of boring haha. I prefer for my shiny Pokémon to be more random/chance like they were designed to be, but whenever I'm training a competitive team I ensure to RNG the lot of them.

Adrian: In RNG it is crucially important to hit your seed (game launch time w/ other parameters involved) at a specific time down to the second. 3DS games have a bit different launch time than a DS Lite, which is commonly used for RNG purposes. 3DS launch time is roughly 8 seconds, as opposed to 1. Plus, there is no clock with a second hand on the 3DS display, so you have to rely on other means such as eon/zomgtimer for synchronization with an external clock.

Needless to say, in my personal opinion, there is less to worry about when RNG'ing on a Lite.

There's only 2 reasons why I'd rng shiny stuff... and that's because it's easy to tell when you've gotten it right and it's got really nice colors. Otherwise I like to rng non-shiny because shiny is everywhere now and just doesn't appeal to me. And I like to avoid disasters like Hariyama.

Depends on your DS model. If you are using a DS Phat or Lite, you start one second early, ie. 16:49. Likewise, for a 3DS you would start at either 16:42 or 16:43. I'm not very knowledgeable about the 3DS delay, but I heard it varies between 7 ad 8 seconds. I dunno about DSi though.

Also 16:50 is different from 4:50. 16:50 is 4:50pm, not am.

OK seems like there's some confusion here. For example, your seed is 16:50:50. You'd start the game on your 3DS at 16:50:42 to account for your eight second delay.

Yes?
