I absolutely love phoenixes <3. I find them elegant and graceful creatures and birds have always been an animal I admired. I also find it amazing about that the phoenix, can be reborn from ashes and starts all over again, it's an interesting concept. Also, a bird on fire just sounds amazing in my opinion, I wish I had a pet phoenix. XD;

My second choice would definitely be the dragon! I love all sorts of dragons, for their power and strength, their unique sleek appearance, with scales, horns, pointed wings and huge fangs. Breathing fire, flying and also the role they play in fairytales is interesting! I really adore dragons, they have to be one of my favourites. <3

I'm also in the phoenix camp. The elegance of a flying streak of flame just really appeals to me. It looks powerful. I love Moltres for this very reason.

I'm not really that into mythical creatures but I love dragons, phoenixes and unicorns the best.

I love how well the dragons are interpreted in Chinese culture especially. Phoenixes have the ability to rebirth from the dead (as I saw in a Harry Potter movie) and unicorns are so cute and popular with girls.

I always thought phoenixes, griffons and dragons were really cool, with phoenixes probably being my favorite.

Hmmm. Mythic creatures huh. I think dragons are great. Phoenixes I like also. But I would say I like Kraken and other water creatures most. And Fefnir. Fefnir is an awesome concept. A wolf so big it touches the sky. :D

A wolf so big it touches the sky? Why have I not heard of this creature before? Fefnir is my favorite now because I love wolves.

Even if it's overused, the dragon is hands down the best mythological creature, and my personal favorite. It has it all, and then some.

The Simurgh, which is a phoenix of Persian origin, that is often found in Muslim literature, has to be my favourite.

http://sugarstreetreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Simurgh-picture-600x457.jpg

It's a giant phoenix like bird that's incredibly wise and a protector of humanity. And it had power to purify all things. Sometimes it looks like it has a dog face, other times just like a bird. Also, it's incredibly old. Too bad most people don't know about it though.

Another cool thing about it is that Simurgh is actually a pun that can also mean "Thirty Birds", which is a reference made in the epic poem "Conference of the Birds".

And with that, more Simurgh art:

There's this fairy muse thing called the leanan sidhe and it's one of my favorite fictional beings, period. It's from Celtic mythology and it's a beautiful woman who gives its victim amazing artistic talent in return for their love, then it drains their life away while they spiral into insanity.

I'd fall for it.

Anubis, Chimera, Sphinx, and Ouroboros are my favourites. Anubs definitely tops it for me, though. Bastet is also cool; I like my Egyptian Gods.. though I don't know if I can technically place them under mythology.. after all, it was once a religion, wasn't it?

Spriggans. Even though they're from Skyrim, they're still mythological. ;)

I like Pheonixes, dragons and unicorns. Pheonixes are so fiercely and gracefully elegant. I like the fact that it never completely dies off but rises again from the ashes. As for unicorns, they are rather like horses, but with horns. I like horses a lot as they are really beautiful animals, so there's a connection to that. Dragons, although I used to dislike them before, have grown on me since and have shown me that they are powerful creatures who freely roam the skies of the mystical lands, as well as that of Pokemon. <3

Harpies x)

Dragons are a close second, only because harpies are sometimes portrayed as really gross, rotting women...

Phoenix. Because of the way it revives itself, and its near immortality.

Spriggans. Even though they're from Skyrim, they're still mythological. ;)
I wouldn't consider them mythological as within the TES universe they are very much real and outside of it are unique to the franchise.

Favorite by far is dragons. I remember a time when I was younger that I didn't want to read books unless they had dragons involved somehow (I've mostly gotten over that), so...yeah. I just like how they tend to be portrayed, and for that matter how many ways they can be portrayed in things.

A close second would be gryphons, or griffons, or however you like to spell that word. Not sure what their draw was for me, maybe it's the "part eagle" fact (and I've always had a liking for birds).

And then drawing from eastern mythologies, I also like the qilin/kirin/all the various versions of that particular beast - probably because a lot of depictions I see of it are dragon-like.

they are Mythology..legends made by Ancient Egyptians according to what they wanted to believe..and Anubus is son of Seth who stood against his dad to help his aunt Isis in finding his Uncle Ozoris ...i love all the old Egyptian legends as well which includes Phoenix OF COURSE!! "from ashes i rise again to heal with my tears and play the sad magical melody only those with the purest hearts can see me" I love Phoenix so much or as we call it here Anka'a also the Grim shadow aka soul reaper...^^

I've always liked the look of Dragons and Phoenixes, because a dragon can breathe fire, and a Phoenix can rise from the ashes.
