1337, March 05: Pokémon :: Shadows of Eternity

Thanks! ;) Alright. This isn't too much of an update, but a few nights ago I sketched out a Steel/Ghost type pokemon. Think of a little flying saucer with lime green color on the top half and silver on the bottom, and you've got the first one. It'll learn moves in a whopping three categories, including ghost, steel, and electric, though its main types are Steel and Ghost. I have already sprited them, and will reveal them soon, but not just yet. I have also drawn and sprited its evolution. BTW, I'm proud to announce that I did it entirely from scratch and it looks just as I drew it. :D

The other pokemon I made is a panda, which is Dark/Normal. It is the cliched "ying and yang" stuff, learning things like faint attack and thief, along with "good" attacks and such. One of its signature moves will be swift, due to the star print on its belly.

Attached is a sketch of the dark panda, which I have not sprited yet. I won't reveal the Steel/Ghost type until a bit later.

My policy? As long as it is completely your own work, meaning that you did not take it from someone without permission, and you give me the right to put it in the game, then you're able to submit, depending on quality of course. If you submit some really good sprites I'll even list you under the staff on the front of the page, like all the other people who contributed.

Thanks for the comment. ;) It was a sketch I just whipped up. I'll probably sprite it soon. Right now I'm organizing a list of all the pokemon, and putting the sprites into a folder. I'll try and make a pokedex page for the homepage too, soon.

Hmmm. This hack isn't to hot (like i put on the poll :)). Its sprites are sub standard, most edits of other pokemon that only look half origanal, and everything else seems just above average, apart from the title screen, GO TITLE SCREEN! But theres something else about this hack that i cant quite work out. It seems to have some sort of aura that makes whoever see's it unable to resist the temptation of looking fowards to this hack, and unluckily i was caught into it. Good luck and i hope this hack turns out really well.

That kind of hurt my feelings. :( What you basically said was "Although your hack is a real piece of garbage, some idiots, including myself, for no good reason seem to like it." That wasn't very nice. And I "tried to" interpret it in a different way, but I couldn't get past it. Well, at the end of the day it's just a bump in the road. Criticism is a thing that people must learn to accept. :\

EDIT - now you're scrambling to edit your posts, and make them seem like they weren't pure trashing. Thanks for your comment on the title screen, though it doesn't seem to avert my eyes from everything else you said. W/e, don't try and cover it up. If you hate my hack, say it loud, say it proud. Ya, as Death said, this may not match upto some of the amazing hacks out there but it's great and for a hack by a first-timer - it's very decent and high quality.

BG nice pic, wanna see you convert that to a sprite, I reminds me of Zangoose though.

I dont have a beef with you. Just because i expressed my opinion of your hack, doesn't mean that i am against you. I told you those things so that you could work on those aspects and try to improve them, just like you did to me, and i did that. I looked at what you had to say and saw a lot of truth there and worked on it. I beleive that what we have here is a classic misunderstanding and i hope we can get past this. I see great things for this hack in the future.

Wow, nice sprites. THe only thing i see wrong about them is that most pokemon sprites tend to be stanced/looking towards the opponents pokemon. But im glad to see that you are using scratch sprites. It makes the hack look a whole heap origanal, which is a good thing.

You should do it like everyone else does it works and this can actually get you into legal trouble if you go that route when/if someone steals your ideas I really hope you didnt mail your images in to be copywrited as original pokemon ideas becuase if you did you wasted your money. Picture this some guy steals your art so you take him to court, your case is I created these pokemon(trademark infringment) to be played online using r-o-m-s(Piracy) to emulate the actual gameboy games in my own way with my own story line but still using some of the original Nintendo/Gamefreaks graphisc(Trademark infringment/Piracy/Copywrite infringment) Im in the music biz I go through ALOT of crap with copywrites, infringment, and intellectual/artistic rights, I figured Id let you in on that ;)

I like this hack. I would show some of TDT's original ideas, but the third evolution is WAY to big to fit the 64X64 limit (the third evolution is vital to the dragon Pokémon) I have a question. Are the original 386 going to appear? I'm wondering because I have a neat Flygon sprite you could use :) Good luck

Sorry for no updates. I was gone for the weekend. To the person who said legal trouble, I wouldn't actually get into a legal battle over something so trivial, I'm just expressing the fact that they cannot be used, and I could very well get people banned or disabled temporarily for such an infringement, just as people do when their fanfics are plaigerized. Anyhoo... Yeah, the new sprites do look rather "un-posed", but hey, it was an adventure, and I think they turned out relatively well anyways.

To "TDT", a great number of the 386 will appear, and you can expect to see a lot of originals, plus a lot of rare and cool pokemon to find. For example, you can find Marill and Squirtle near Rhea Falls, and other cool stuff like that. I'm going to do some serious jazzing up of the wild pokemon available.

I'm sorry to report that no new updates are available at the moment. ; Sorry, I'll have to show you all some other time, since I was busy this weekend. Expect lots of weekends next week for Spring Break! Hurrah!

Yes, I believed it was time to move on. ;) Well, I've been working diligently to provide a few new screens. They involve ORITRAL (I found the name to flow better), showing battle from both spectrums. I scribbled out the data on the pokedex, as it is incorrect, and will be changed rather quickly.

No, Embreag will not be a legendary. It will just be a firebird. ;) Perhaps distantly related to Ho-Oh, like a 4th cousin, but no, it will not be legendary. Today I was mapping Route B and have some screens to show you all.

On this Route you'll also be able to fight Jessie and James before passing onto the next city, and they'll be superly duperly hard to defeat. Mwa ha ha! And they might just have some new Eternity Poke's to show off on their new arsenal.

I will probably not update for a while (remember, being more frugal with the screens to leave more mystery, as Chrono Cr@cker advised.), so I thought it would be nice to show a bit of stuff before I mysteriously went away for a while. LOL... This morning I got a LOT of work done, mainly with text. Now you can play as a girl without your mother being called a father. ;) The text was edited to become your father's words and in the female house it was still a woman saying it! ;) Just in case you didn't know, your father is with you at the beginning rather than your mother.

-Drew out Felou and Morgist (Dark/Ghost Felines)
-Drew out Squerrn (Normal Squirrel)
-Sprited Squerrn (Looks really good, but I won't show it)
-Changed text as aforementioned
-Added Jessie's sprite into the game
-Changed Jessie's overworld sprite
-Fixed the waterfalls
-Fixed Route B

Goatman, your sprites are actually fairly good! I'd love it if you submitted some sprites to me. Try to make them look a bit more R/S/E though, since the sprites shown in your sig look fairly G/S/C.

I'll be doing edits on battles... and now the battle with Jessie is complete! Hurray! They'll be like your second rivals kind of like they were in Yellow Version, except now they'll have some of their old poke's plus new ones from SoE.

On another note, you will ONLY be able to catch/receive/find SoE pokemon in the first beta. Haha! There are some really cool ones, like Squerrnal, a squirrel pokemon, whose signature moves are things like Thief, Hypnosis, and Dizzy Punch. ;) You will also be able to catch Sarpal, the pre-evolution to Lapras near the Rea Falls, along with lots LOTS more. ;)

Just thought I'd clue you in...

BTW, should I post a walkthrough when I release the beta, for those who like to look at maps, pokemon stats. etc? If I do I'll make it like the G/S/C guide used to look. ;) :)

Sarpal, Lapras' pre-evolution is now fully ready. Hurrah! You'll be able to catch it at Rea Falls. . . What else... I changed Birch's sprite. Now "he" is a girl. ;) Professor Azure to be exact. I've also been doing lots of pokedex entries, and spriting. I have a giant list of things I need to do to get the beta ready, but I'll try and get them done ASAP.

Sorry for the recent lack of screenshots (quite contrasted to how I used to operate), but now I'll be working hard on the beta, and it's better that there are some elements of surprise when you play the game. I have lots of cool stuff planned, and even a trap which you will undoubtedly fall into without even realizing it. ;)

Arthropond looks like Wurple except made of water and has a tiny leaf inside it. Arthrolake looks like Silcoon except made of water and has two tiny leaves inside it. Arthrosea looks like Beautifly and Dustox mixed except made of water with 3 leaves inside it.

Hey, the story is great and seems well worked out, giving it great potential. The maps look awesome from what I see. The one thing I can see that seems to be lacking is the pokemon, your first unoriginal sprites look bad and seem very unoriginal. Your completelly original ones look a lot better, but I'd suggest going with a diffrent color scheme for the spectral/machine things because it makes them look like that one white and green pokemon (bad memory, I know) In any case, if you ever need help with totally original sprites I can help, and I'll post some up tomorow because im about to pass out right now im so tired... night.

Thanks for your honesty. ;) I've been getting really good with spriting lately. In fact there are lots of new ones that no one's even gotten to see yet, so you'll all be pleasantly surprised when the beta is released ;) Many of my old sprites will probably be redone, using their original concepts.

To DEC: I simply cannot use those, because they are just recolors (and not even good recolors) of Voltorb and Electrode. I will only accept original spriting now from people wishing to contributed. Thanks for trying, and I hope spriting treats you well.

Charmaster: If you have nothing cohesive or relatively intelligent to say, don't say anything at all. My sprites (some of which you haven't even seen) in Pyropie's line are completely different. For one thing, they look like sprites. For another, I MADE THEM BEFORE I EVEN KNEW OF "POKECOMMUNITY" OR DEATH2004, SO IT WOULD MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO HAVE 'STOLEN' HIS SPRITE (DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT). The concept of a fire insect isn't so new or groundbreaking. I'm sure many have thought of it. Don't you even DARE accuse plaigerism of any kind, because I have never, and will NEVER do that.

Alrighty... here's an updaterooni...

I have been editing the hero sprites and they are finally done! *jumps for joy* It was a hellish experience to do so, but necessary nonetheless. What's next? I'm going to edit Poochyena's overworld sprite, so that it matches Roedenna. Then... I'm going to start mapping the first major city, in which a gym is situated, and will fiddle around with that... after I get that done, the beta should be really close to being ready.

To reveal more:

The first city will be centered around symmetry and conformity. Every single person in the city, excluding people within the gym look the same. All girls will look a set way, and all boys will look a set way, and it shall be verrrrrrry freaky! *fear the freaky clone-ishness*

In the gym, you just might have to face YOUR OWN demons. *hints* (If you get what I mean, then don't spoil it for others.)

What else... The gym leader will be a relative of Duplica, a character in the anime that possessed a ditto. So, this just might give you a clue as to this gym leader's roster.

Also, some more familar characters will be available to be fought on the route leading to the aforementioned freaky clone city. I am positive you'll be familar with them.

This is all I'll say for a while! I will get some work done on the weekend. The beta is fast approaching! (Though it is going much slower than expected, due to laziness and reluctancy to work on my part.)

Well... I've come a long way, since I was new to hacking, but I'm officially beginning to develop a game in RM2K3. The fact of the matter is that it will allow me to create a game and unleash my imagination rather than modify someone elses' work. It will contain all of the new pokémon planned for SoE, and much more. It'll be so much fun to do.

There is still hope for SoE to continue, but at the moment I'm officially postponing it. Since it has the 1337 sticky, I can revive it any time I wish, and who knows, maybe it'll come back sooner than you think. Please just wait for my new project to be unveiled. It will be posted in Game Development once I have finished a substantial amount of work.
