Does anyone else here have LOTR: The Third Age for GCN/PS2/XBOX? I do, and I have to say it's better than I thought it would be. The Battle System is similar to that of Final Fantasy, except that you only have four characters when you have a 'guest' with you for a few fights (Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf, etc.). I've completed the game all the way up to Episode III/Chapter II. I'm on the last part of the game, and I'm about to fight Sauron (the final boss who has over 200,000 HP). The weapons and items are unique to this game, as are the skills. I haven't seen any of these skills in the other LOTR games out there. The game spans all three books/movies, and is two discs long. You also have the option to play Evil Mode after beating the first chapter of the game (and for each chapter completed thereafter). In it, you play as the enemy through a series of battles, getting to use your partie's weaknesses against them. You can even play the Balrog or Sauron (what fun the Balrog was lol). It's a challenging game, depending on what skill level you pick (Easy, Medium, or Hard). My main character Berethor is around Lv.70, with each of my other characters around that point as well. If you like LOTR, or just plain like RPG games, then I'd suggest this game to you. I'd give it a 5/5 rating.

I've played the Third Age, and I like it better than FF, actually. Although I'm not as far as you (I'm at the end of the first movie), I do share your enthusiasm. This game is cool!

LOTR: The Third Age is an awesome game. I'm not usually into turn-based fighting, but I was hooked until the end with this one. I'm a big LOTR fan, so when I saw places and characters from the movies in it, it made me pretty excited. I'm gonna give it a 5/5, but if I had to compare it to other games (LOZ: Ocarina of Time, Silent Hill 2..) certainly it wouldn't have earned such a high rating. But on its own, it's a fantastic game.

Yeah, it sure is! About Evil Mode, you can earn exclusive items and weapons for your party that you can't get anywhere else in the normal game mode. My character has the weapon Sword of Isildur, High King of Gondor (not equipped anymore since I have his most powerful weapon now), which is a very good weapon. You get it for completing Osgiliath in Evil Mode. I have the guide (which I've hardly used except when necessary), so I can help anyone with this game if they need it. My guide is for all three systems (GCN/PS2/XBOX) that this game is on. I'd have to say my favorite part has been playing the Balrog in Evil Mode. You can't believe how weak Gandalf is in it lol. A piece of advice for those who have it: don't use your healing items unless absolutely necessary. Running out of healing items is a bad thing, and you don't want to be caught without any.

My brother has it and he beat it (never got around to ending the game). It's a great game and I liked how it was like Final Fantasy X (I love FF games, this was close to FF but I will always like Final Fantasy games better then Lord of the Rings games). The Turn-Based Battle, the window that showed who was up next and so on. It's the best Lord of the Rings game I have played. The story line was also a real good one, it was mixed with the movies yet not about them. It was a really good game that I liked a lot.

It is good. I love the way they've done the skill animation, especially Idrial's Loudwater Stallion move (I have to check the guide to see if that's the right name). It looks a lot like the scene from The Fellowship of the Ring where Arwen used the river to drive back the Nazgul.
