Ok, so im on crystal and i'm in Olivine City, and i've been to the lighthouse, defeated all of the trainers there, got to the top, and there's this woman there who says, "get me some medicine for my pokemon"
Why do I get the medicine from? And whats the medicine called? I hope its not "HP UP"

It's the Secret Potion you get in Cianwood. Talk to the guy in the pharmacy and then he will give you it. then give it back to jasmine.

and then you can battle her in the gym dont forget to take a fire type

Yup. You're going to need a Pokemon with Surf that's for sure. Bring healing items with you while you Surf across the long ocean path and be on the look out for Mantine!
You'll get the HM for Fly once you beat Chuck at his gym and after you get the Secret Potion (I bet you knew that already huh?) :P
