The wonderful channel of TechTv is now no longer exsistant. Comcast bought TechTv to merge it with G4TV, you know that sucky gaming channel with only 5 million viewers, just to get TechTv's 45 million viewers. It was called G4TechTv. Well, now Comcast has just droped the TechTv name and now it's the horrible channel of G4TV. But there are rumors the TechTv will live again as MSTechTv. Sound familiar? Hint: MSNBC, Microsoft. Anyway, what's you feelings on this situation?

I realized that a while back when I could not find the channel but...all of the shows are the same and all of the hosts are the same so really it is still the same channel but with a different name. IT says G4TV on Direct TV.

Are you talking about G4? If you're talking about TechTv, it's not.

This is how I see it:
Video games = good. :D
G4TV = Soulless "gaming cable television channel" cut in the same mold as MTV.
Terrible off the street idiot hosts with annoying personality and no real gaming knowledge (or interest in gaming for that matter) other than what is on their teleprompter.
Cash influenced reviews and show content.
Entire channel exists not for entertainment but for advertising and exploiting the new surging popularity of gaming and the incompetant 12 year old internet fanboys that now dominate it.
Promotes the same dozen games all day with reruns, even when they only have about 12 hours worth of first run shows on a week. Plenty of extra space for "real" game coverage but they still limit coverage to the same mass marketed "fanboy bait".
Parent company recently bought, erased, and assimilated Tech TV effectively eliminating all intelligent competition to this rubbish channel called G$(G4).
- Found this perfect discription on Urbandictionary.com :D
TechTv = Best channel ever made that got screwed becuase of G4.

A lot has changed since the merge with G4TV, back when TechTV had a nice selection of computer shows and whatnot. But I don't really seem to mind G4TV as much anymore, sure there isn't much variety other then a few basic shows (X-Play, Reviews on the run, Icons, call for help etc.) but its still enjoyable in some sence or another, especially as how I mostly just watch Icons XD.

But its still good to know that TechTV will make a triumphant return soon.

Well, we don't know whether or not Tech TV shall return. Rumors are all it is. Of course, if TTV comes back, it will be owned by Microsoft but distrubited by NBC. No one knows for sure.

I like G4 for Icons and those types of shows. I like Call for Help on TechTV for somereason.

Is this everywhere or just the States? The US site just says G4 everywhere now, the Canadian one is still G4techTV/

Maybe the Canadian version hasn't realized it's supposed to change its name yet. o_O; We normally get these changes later on... but I imagine it'll come here too. @_@; I doubt that it'd become a purely Canadian channel on its own or whatever.

Wait, I'm confused. The fact that G4 and TechTV were merged into G4TechTV is old news, but I hadn't heard that they were dropping TechTV from it entirely. I know DirectTV says G4TV, but it was mistaken about TV. (it displayed its old name, which I don't know what it was)

No it isn't. Read my post, it wasn't about the merger, it's about the dropping of the Tech TV name. It went effective on Feburary 15, 2005. In the US, G4TechTV turned into G4TV. In Canada, it's still G4TechTV and they still have Call For Help because G4TechTV Canada is owned by two Canadian cable compaines. They get to chose what they want G4TechTV to be. Lucky Canadians. They get cool stuff while we get crap. :(

Wait...This is a bit old, the news was said back in the later days of January ^^; Meh...There goes the greatest non-HSN computer channel to ever grace our screens. I think the Canadian one won't change, different companies run each network x_X;

I can't stand G4...its shows are horrible and not to meantion they ruined the Screen Savers and screwed up the set to X-Play. They took out Fresh Gear and and its awsome cast. I hope Tech TV makes a come back.
Tech TV Cast: Awsome and they knew what they were doing and talking about.
G4 Cast: Younger and they know little about games and thats their main focus.

It looks like they DID drop TechTV, but it seems like in name only. The site seems to imply that Xplay and Screensavers are still there. But yeah, this is an outrage.

And I like the new XPlay set. It has more...personality.
