I started playing Pokemon since gen 1 and won 1st place in the second official Pokemon tournament in Denmark back at the end of gen 1. I played and brought all Pokemon games up to gen 3, where i felt that the games have repeated them self's too many times and that there was no more surprises or fun in playing Pokemon, and stopped at the end of gen 3. I was wrong, now i am back and are preparing my self for pokemon X & Y.
Hope to see you guys and girls out there in the PGL after the maintenance.:)
And i fell sorry for the people that will not be able to use the PGL anymore.:(

Welcome back to the Pokemon fandom! :D And a big welcome to PokeCommunity, too, pectyl.
Luckily I never really used the Global Link.. not sure why but if I used it often I'd probably be even more sad that it was closing down. X and Y are still looking to be amazing though so that's truly something great to look forward to. Can't wait to pre-order X when I can! Won't be able to go out and buy the game on release day this time around since it'll definitely be sold out around here quickly, haha. Am especially excited since I'll finally be able to trade this generation so there'll be lots to do around here when October rolls around. What version do you want to get? :O Check out the Pokemon X & Y (http://www.pokecommunity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=256) board to discuss the games if you're interested; you could also poke around the many other Pokemon boards we have here, so go on and find those special places for you.
Enjoy your stay on the forum, sir! Let our staff know if you need any help or are lost in general. You're more than welcome to message anybody if you want to learn the ropes as well.. so be sure to do that if you need to. :) Have fuuun!

Wow that was fast! well thanks for the intro, and yes i agree Pokemon X & Y looks amazing and for some reason reminded me of the good old Pokemon Colosseum and XD gale of darkness.
Since there is not much info on the differences on X & Y i still don't know, but i stick with Y for now because of its legendary.

Hi pectyl! Welcome!
The Global Link was something I have used a ton and so I'm really sad it has to close. Though so glad there a Global Link coming for X and Y in October. I've seen screenshots for the new one, it looks amazing. I'm very excited for X and Y too! Everything about it look really promising and I love the new features such as Sky Battles and Pokemon Amie. I just can't wait for October to get here and it needs to get here sooner! It's awesome knowing you're getting back into Pokemon. While you wait till then though, you can also play gen IV and Gen V games if you like or haven't already. I personally I love Black and White and Black 2 and White 2 the most of both generations overall. The story's intense and the Pokemon are odd yet unique imo. I also love Platinum and HeartGold too. And while you play them you can discuss them in their respective sections too! You can find them here (http://www.pokecommunity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=238) and here (http://www.pokecommunity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=200). Have fun Poke-gaming!
Hope you have a fun time here. You really should cause we're a really nice community. As Cirno said, you can also ask a staff in bold if you need anything. See you later and enjoy the forums!

They should have made some kind of GL only for DS games and call it Global Link DS. and yes X & Y looks amazing, But what i fear most is the security of the game, it wont take more then a group of people to unbalance the game if they find out where that special item or Pokemon duplication glitch is, they could make a fun little adventure into a shiny explosion of shiny legendary's. And i still have some Pokemon in my old gba Pokemon games that i want transferred to X or Y and i really hope that people can still transfer there Pokemon from previous Pokemon games to X & Y
