Let's say that at some point in the future, Nintendo re-releases N64 with advanced graphics quality, clearer sound, and couple of extra features, and its games are remade to fully take advantage of these improvements... how would you feel? Would you like it, or would you not like it? Would you buy it? Why or why not? How would you feel if SEGA did the same thing with their Genesis console, Sony did the same with PS One, and Apple soon followed them with their old Bandai Pippin? How successful would they all be? :o

No it will fail. I'm starting to get sick of remakes and the old consoles are good enough. Perhaps if they started to produce older consoles as a collectable, it would work.

I don't think it'll work out. Remaking every single N64 game in existence will be an unnecessary endeavor.

Echo what Seattle and Para-Dox said. They just seem to be remaking games left and right these days, especially Nintendo.

Can you even remake a console?

In a word, no. Trying to sell a console that's just an amped-up version of a previous console with some new features is the very essence of the video game industry right now. It's very difficult to sell a console with next-gen specs to people who are looking forward to new games, so selling something similar and only being able to promise re-releases of games that came out on the original console would be downright impossible. Nobody would want to buy a console that only plays remakes.

Then it wouldn't be an N64. And the other consoles wouldn't be "remakes" of their originals either O_o
